NSW Prison Officer Reveals The Craziest Ways Inmates Smuggle In Contraband

And what goes on in and around jail after, on Saturday, drone was intercepted by police at Dolman Supermax. Let us to ask, what is in the jail cells? That's great. Got a caller that's been in jail. He said, this is what's here. This is what is not in here. And we now have a call from a corrections officer. Oh, really? I've recently been waiting, who has made the right decision to remain anonymous. Welcome to the show, mate. Morning, how are you? We're, we are, I'm actually a bit excited. We're fascinating. 1:00We want to know how they get stuff in. Yeah. That's the question. What are the, what are the, what are the, what are the, the sneaky ways? Yeah, well, we want to know. Can you feel the creative? Yeah, but yeah, creative is the great word, Garek, yeah. Yeah. No, depending over the time and over the years, it has changed a lot. Originally, things would be sort of transported in. We're not going to always forget that it does come from people in blue. But if we go to the other side, it does come from family through visits. And they start to get a little bit more inventive over the years that have come through, depending what they're trying to get in. Back in the day, one of the biggest things were mobile phones. And these mobile phones were the same sizes, you know, your car key and things like that. And so those things would get, you know, secreted internally on people or in pockets and things like that. Or they get thrown over the fence in the inside of tennis ball. But now, as you know, times have developed, phones are a lot bigger. So they're a lot harder to get inside. So that was one of the things that people would use in tennis balls. And one of those dog throwers was one of those things that they used to use. And that would go like an unbelievable, you know, amount of distance,

2:04especially when it's wrapped in, you know, the old electrical tape that we used to use as well. And so those things would go an unbelievable distance. But as times go on, we've found people, you know, if during a visit they have a chip packet. The visitor would take it out of their pocket, put it inside the chip packet. Then the inmate would take it out of the chip packet and put it in their mouth. And they would swallow it and then regurgitate it back when they found it. And then they would swallow it back when they finished their visit. What's the main thing that is, uh, is in demand in there right now? I know we had a guy, probably this time last year, um, those strips, which is sort of like a, it's a, no, yeah, yes. Those strips are worth thousands and thousands of dollars, which is sort of like a, it's like an opioid, like a method of a situation. Yeah, look at it. And they last a long time. What is the most in demand thing in their now? Well, the problem. At the moment, because it's always been a little bit on both sides where the view for more things, strips on the outside, they're probably, you know, $30 a strip or something like that.

3:05But on the inside, yeah, they are quite a considerable amount of money. And there is your demand for right there. Yeah, easy. You could pack 50 to 100 of them and nobody even know, be the thickness of a credit card. Things like that. And the black market on that is huge. And it's, it's put it so hard to detect because it's like those, uh, do you remember those, uh, those things you put on your tongue, they're like a mint. Yeah, yeah. And then it'd be a wafer. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. One of those is exactly the same. And so it's hard to detect, it's hard to find, it's hard to see. They break it down into little, you know, two millimeter by two millimeter squares. And they sell that off. And yeah, that's one of the biggest things in demand. But at the same time, communication is always going to be the biggest thing in demand for these guys. So SIM cards, mobile phones, you know, things like that, but even, you know, the drug system, we've always found steroids and, you know, things like that. And maybe textiles are the big thing now. So you never know. Oh, geez. Can I ask you this? How are people charging the phones? That's fascinating to me because is it sort of single use? And then they run out of battery and they just get rid of it?

4:06No, sometimes they will get the charging cord implemented and phone over the fence as well. As for the adapters, a little bit different, they become quite inventive. And as you've probably heard about boil up kits and how they can boil water, it's the same way as they can charge anything to be honest. Just two prongs coming out of an electrical point and things like that as well. Like if they use their brains for good, some of these guys would be, you know, great inventors and things like that as well. Yeah, all the other sort of it, they've been long by. Hey, mate, I'll ask you this. I'll ask you this. We're going to ask you this. This is a serious question. Are they listening to radio in there? Yes. Is there a radio? Is the radio want to like a whole like out on a loudspeaker situation? Or they got individual ones? And if they are, what are they listening to? And please tell me it's triveling. No, they're allowed to buy their own personal radios and they can also have walkmans and things like that. That old-style walkman or, you know, little transistor radios with headphones. Yeah, they're all allowed to purchase one. We don't have like a loudspeaker system because obviously the noise for the public that I want to hear it, especially places like Parkley.

5:07You know, people around Parkley, we've right on the border of the fences. I don't want to give them. Not that, you know, people in the trip length should be noise. Yeah. But that, listen to the trip length noise pollution or anything. Yeah. You know what we're doing. That's what we're going to do. All right, can we go out there?
