Our Favorite Depictions of the American Founding in Pop Culture | Last Call

Welcome to a special edition of Last Call, which brings you the best of the week from the 3 Martini Lunch! However, as we mark 250 years today since the signing of the Declaration of Independence. In this edition, Jim and Greg will share their favorite depictions of the American Founding and our Founding Fathers .

First, they head to television, as Jim showcases the popular miniseries George Washington in the 1980's and Greg points to a specific episode from one of the most popular sitcoms of that decade, Family Ties.

Next, Jim recommends the HBO series focusing on a Founding Father who deserves more attention - John Adams. That series was based off a book by famed historian David McCullough. Greg highlights another McCullough book plus a two-volume set of novels that are good for any age.

Then, Jim dives into the popularity of the Broadway hit Hamilton, which tells the story of Alexander Hamilton and so many others from that era. Greg gives a shout out to the Mel Gibson movie, The Patriot.
