Oh Welcome in to a Tuesday edition of daily face off live stream and live on the DFO YouTube Big hearty hello to everybody over there The show as always is a presentation of bet 365 hockey fans check out bet 365's three goal early payout when your team goes up Three you get paid it's that simple download the app today must be 19 plus please play responsibly Tyler you're I'm Chuck Colby Cohen with you for a Tuesday Saint Patrick's Day edition of the show neither one of us Remembered it was Saint Patrick's Day Sorry Tyler. I was just coughing clearing my throat a little bit there so I had myself on mute But yes, this is the color of my soul for today Tyler So that's what I am representing on this wonderful Saint Patrick's Day

Yeah, I walked into our nation network HQ today and there was a whole bunch of people wearing big green hats and green beads and all of this stuff And I was like oh damn today's March 17th. I'm really I'm really just not one of those guys cold Yeah, I don't really own actually. I have like one green shirt But it's in it's for the Eagles. I'm just I'm not a green guy. I'm a gray black like guy. That's just what I am That's fair. That's fair. Jeff Merrick's gonna join us today Maybe he'll be wearing some sort of zany Saint Patrick's Day hat or outfit Although I guess I'll doubt it on that front is well But we're gonna talk to him about a couple of things pick his brain about everything going on around the department of player safety Right now um and also a little bit about the world cup of hockey But first Colby it was another big night in the NHL yesterday with a handful of teams playing Call it big games for their playoff races Pittsburgh was looking to get things kind of right back on track the LA Kings had a big meeting with the New York Rangers In a big meeting in a couple of ways Yes, LA needs the two points to stay in the hunt out west

We'll talk about that in a moment But it was also the return to Madison Square Garden for our Temmie Panarin his first game back since getting traded a couple of months He picks up an assist. I know Johnny Lazarus got a chance to talk to him after the game a little bit as well Just about you know his emotions seeing the video tribute and all of that But what did you make of the breadman's return to MSG? I mean listen You know the Rangers are a bad hockey team and even though they've had a couple of games where they've looked a little bit better There's still no doubt in my mind that these are two under performing teams playing So I'd be lying to you if I told you that you know I sat there and I was super dialed into this hockey game when there was a bunch of other good games to go I did see that he picked up a point. I saw the point. I did see about half the game But I will say the best part of the game was after it was when Johnny had Artemi Panarin on camera something that he didn't do often when he was a New York Ranger

And I thought some of the comments were pretty funny when he started With something along the lines of you know There's nobody that I'll really miss too much and then he went on to list like half the team that he said he would miss playing for so And then David Pan Yoda actually had the best part of the night where he posted a photograph of Panarin and David Pan Yoda Looking at Johnny while asking the question and the caption was clearly no one has any idea Um, what this guy's talking about so all in all eventful kind of but more theatrics off the ice than on the ice Um, and for the Kings again a game you had to have The Rangers had one foreigner row going into that one But if you're LA those are the ones that you circle on the schedule as you try to map out what your record needs to be to get into the playoff mix and all that That's one of the games where you circle and go Cape that's two points. We just need to have especially coming off A loss to the devils over the weekend, which was also probably another one of those games that you felt like you needed to have and now

You sit here and a King's team that I think you know seven days ago You may be able to look that and then like oh god how are they going to get back in the mix here They wake up this morning. They're tied with the Seattle Kraken although Seattle does have that game in hand But even with that game in hand I like LA's chances of outperforming the Seattle Kraken by two points down the stretch The only thing that's going to work out against LA in this whole race is it'll be very hard for them to own the tiebreaker over everybody And this very well could be a year in both the east and west where we see those tiebreakers come into play in a number of positions But like man the fact LA is if you take loser points and just call them a loss as Colby the LA Kings are 28 and 39 on the season you can make the argument that if everybody in this group I'll use the word deserve LA deserves to be in this conversation the least Yeah, listen you you're you're never on the LA train. I think we all widely have documented your You not ever falling in line and and the only thing I would say here is you do have some players with some experience

You do have some veterans on that team You know our temmie penaren is still a very capable guy Copatara on his fill what fair well tour. I'm sure there will be a little push at the end of the season In order to try to get this guy into the playoffs just one more time You've got Lafari air who's a young guy who you know has his ups and his downs But he is a contributor. I still think they're trying to figure out what quinten byfield is going to be Long-term and and what that looks like and and then I think you have a lot of the same thing on the back end So me personally, I'd like to see the LA Kings be the team to get in and I'd like to see on Jay Copatara have one more Entrance into the playoffs and kind of go out with one last playoff series Although I don't think it'll be a long playoff run for them that combined with just I don't have a lot of trust in the Seattle Kraken I really don't and they've really never given me a reason to give them that so I'm not really sure

You know how this is going to shake out and I do know LA is sort of playing with Some guys that I think they're trying to figure out what they will and are long-term up in their lineup And I think always when you have that you have a new coach people are auditioning for opportunities I think that does create and generate a little bit of of an extra push this time of year If they were to go 10 and 5 in their final 15 games It might be enough for them to get it into playoffs 91 points might be the number that does it this year in the west But if they go 10 and 5 they will still finish the season with six more losses than wins on the year f-r-a-u-d If they get in is the at they're getting smoked by the Colorado avalanche Which ties in to the next topic we have Colby and that is the game last night between the abs and the penguins The avalanche to be fair last night really didn't look like a team who was capable of smoking anybody in four straight and listen Look at that record 43 34 13 and nine the Colorado avalanche

We're going to have some blips here and there and they've lost back-to-back games I guess maybe we can start with them weirdly enough Nate picks up a couple of points He scores a goal in that one. I think our numbers are a little bit off on the screen He picks up a goal. He doesn't play well then after the game I just I kind of thought it was weird to see how quickly he came out and how I'll say disgruntled Nate appeared after the loss He said quote we've just been making so many mistakes. We have a lot of new guys a lot of old guys out 70 I don't like 70 different D pairs every shift isn't great the flow is off for sure That's a weird thing I think for him to come out and harshly criticize He's ultimately criticizing the coaching staff here going with the seven defenseman approach to be criticizing the coaching staff After you lost a game in March while you sit at the number one spot in the league. That's weird for me It is weird Tyler, but I'll I'll go a little further with it. Um, I would think He calls out them playing 7d because he hears chatter on the back end from some of the top guys

And he hears that you know, they're not either happy with the rotation. They're not happy with their ice time I mean Kel McCarley played 21 minutes last night Taves only 17 35 and the minutes were kind of 15 15 16 11 16 21 and 17 So I don't see why as a forward You're commenting on that most forwards love 70 because it means more ice time to be had amongst the forwards If it's 70 that means there's only 11 forwards now guys like McCar and McKinnon generally not affected by these types of things Because they're going to play no matter how many players you have in the lineup But that tells me though that whether it was McCar whether it was Taves Maybe it was Josh Manson. I don't know Said something in order for McKinnon to come out and have a main gripe about the game Have to do with how many defensemen are dressed which tells me maybe there is a little bit of a bigger problem here And maybe there is a little bit of unnecessary tension amongst the avalanche

And again, we hear this and I think it's a little cliche But the whole when we get to the playoffs there will be teams will sit there and go Oh, we've been playing playoff hockey since January like we're dialed in we're ready to go We always hear that like a little adversity is is good for a team I said you're going to okay are the avs are they facing adversity is Nate trying to Fabricate some amount of adversity and have his team feel like they're still playing playoff games like I don't know but this year they haven't had a lot of that and I wonder if they face Any amount of I'll call it real adversity when we head into the playoffs if this is how Nate's reacting to a March 16th loss to the penguins I don't know I I think it was worth bringing up I guess maybe I don't want to make it that big of a deal but Ugly lost though Tyler. I mean when you go back and you don't have to even watch the entire game I saw most of this game right and you know first off Pittsburgh scores a goal early And now all the sudden Colorado's playing uphill all game which shouldn't be a big problem for the Colorado Avalanche

But I mean listen Nathan McKinnon is is not an angel in this game I mean he had a couple of tough tough turnovers around the the blue line areas which lead to transition for Pittsburgh How many times were the Pittsburgh or where the Colorado Avalanche out battled and they're losing puck battles stick battles wall battles and then getting beat back to the net on soda blooms goal You know, I think it's McCart just gets beat right back to the net you know Manson had one right up at the blue line where he kind of steps up and then he gets Outmustled which when does Josh Manson get out muscled and then beat back into the prime scoring area like These are avoid easily avoidable plays by a really good team So I think the frustration should be on the players I think there was sloppy puck play last night. I don't think their compete level was high enough So I just don't think Going off the rails at the coaches for how many defensemen are in the game is the right play on this one Tyler I don't think you're making something out of nothing

I think it was a bit ridiculous by him. He is a captain. He is a Stanley Cup winner I do think we have to give him the benefit of the doubt that he knows what he's doing But time will tell if it pays off or not because you're right. This team hasn't had many speed bumps this season On the flip side Pittsburgh has gone through some speed bumps. They lose Sidney Crosby He's still not quite back But then a couple games later they lose of getting Malcolm who gets suspended and then you go to last night Malcolm returns he scores twice in the first 13 minutes the penguin score four goals on their first I think it was six shots of the hockey game and Malcolm just scored an absolute beauty as well Maybe that little bump of adversity where they had to and they didn't thrive with Sid and Gino out and again Sid still not back but they didn't thrive but they survived Colby And I now wonder you get Malcolm back you might get Sid back soon and you're sitting here being like I wonder if this might be a real big boost for the penguins where it's like, you know You wake up on whatever march something when Sid's back you go holy shit. We did it We held on to our spots second in the division missing those two guys now you should just have all this momentum going forward with them back

All right, listen, I've got Pittsburgh making the playoffs at this point Came back with a vengeance and they're not hanging on for dear life I mean Columbus hits at 79 points the Pittsburgh penguins have 83 You know, I think they've now won. I believe two in a row Pittsburgh if I'm not mistaken You can fact check me on that because maybe it was three in a row. I'm not sure And you're right. They've found a way to keep their head above water without the two big dogs You've got one back. You're going to get another one back. You're getting solid gold tending you really are I mean, you're getting it really from both guys. She lost was great last night for Pittsburgh Skinner has done a serviceable job since he's come to town You know, and so I like where Pittsburgh sits like at this point to me There's absolutely no doubt that this is a playoff team All right one more quick quick thing before we get to our friend Jeff Merrick and our big segment here But the GM meetings taking place this week And I think again, we had a couple people say some things in the chat we can get to that in a moment

But I wanted to throw this question your way Colby If you could take the floor if they gave you the podium you had the little mic in front of you You stood in front of the 32 GM's what is one thing about the state of the NHL that you would want to get off your chest So here's what I'm doing Tyler. I'm taking an official and I'm putting them upstairs. I mean they're getting one off the ice and putting them upstairs and I don't mean An off-ice official person. I mean somebody who works the game whether it's a referee or on the lines at this level So you're either adding someone to the crew or my opinion would be take someone off the crew Potentially potentially. I'm just you know flushing this out And I'd want to know from an official if this is something they would even like I'm putting them upstairs and I'm putting an earpiece on him and I'm giving an earpiece to someone on the ice And I'm not saying there needs to be talk back. I'm just saying the game has gotten so fast We need to help these guys out. I think it will alleviate a lot of the reviews

I think they'll get more calls right in real time with an eye above I think you have the opportunity to say hey keep your eye behind the play Hey look over by the bet whatever it may be if you have somebody who's an actual official in that situation They know okay. I just need to be quiet here and let them do their thing I can't overtalk to him right now in this situation But the referees need help. I think it is the game has just gotten too fast the coaches get replay the video coaches have replay I'm between the benches Tyler calling a game I've got nine things to look at and nine replays everybody wants to do away with the reviews and the long reviews I think if you put somebody upstairs who actually is a referee Not just an office official who's already got his computer who's already going through everything And who is communicating directly with the official while the game is happening live I think you are able to take the percentage of calls they get right and they elevate it

And I think the dominoe effect of that is to get rid of some of the long reviews some of the missed calls Some of the ones where they call the two But it should have been a five and then they go look at it or it's a five But it should have been a two whatever the case may be they go look at it So I think if there's a way they could do that and the referees were comfortable with it I think it would just help the officials in real time because this game has just gotten So fast to expect these guys to nail everything the first time I think that's a great point I know Rod Brindamore has been someone who's been vocal about you know wanting to see that change explore it a little bit more And I think that's really well said like the game is fast you have to adapt And I just think at times the NHL's been a little too hesitant to make big adaptations like that for me I'd stand there and I would say can we please bring back the double retention I'd look at the 32 GM's in the room and be like I know this might not have been your guys fault But let's let's take a stand I would try to really rally them and be like let's get this double retention back Because if I have to sit through another trade deadline That was as boring as the one we had on March 6

I don't know if I can do it Colby But let's keep this conversation and a few others going with our friend Jeff Merrick He is brought to you by Tim Horton's if you feel something exciting in the air It's because roll up season is officially back at Tim's You can still play on the cup while supplies last but don't forget to download the app I've been scanning away on the app and I've one more on the app than on the cups as well But roll up season is only around and don't march 22nd You don't have a lot of time so don't wait until it's over to realize you forgot to play for more info go to Tim's.ca slash roll up Do you want your soccer analysis more direct than an arsel set Peace join me max russian and the guardians expert soccer journalist for the latest action And news from the premier league to the champions league And all the way to the world cup will have chat more out of the box than a Dominic subbers live pre-kick More panellists than Chelsea have players and unlike the AR we know where to draw the line For fine margins, fund debates and pool blooded tackles Football weekly listen wherever you get your podcasts and watch the full episodes on YouTube Howdy howdy ho and welcome to fantasy fanfellas

I'm Hayden producer of the fantasy fangirls podcast and your resident lover of all things sanderson and I'm Steven your bookish internet Goofball, but you can call me the smash daddy and we are currently deep diving Brandon sanderson's fantasy epic Missborn, but here's the catch Steven here has not read Missborn before that's right hey hey so each week you'll get my unfiltered raw reactions to every single chip And along the way we'll do character deep dives magic explainers and Steven will even try to guess what's next Spoiler alert he'll be wrong news flash. I'm never wrong episodes come out every Wednesday And you can find fantasy fanfellas wherever you get your podcasts Our friend Jeff Merrick from the sheet coming up in about 40 minutes time Jeff I know you're you're tromping at the bit to get in on a few of these conversations. Oh there's So there's there's a there's a few things. There's a couple like really really juicy pieces of food here So let me in by the way Colby's gonna be sick of me today

I was already our morning cup of this one. Oh by the way, just let me have my sip and move my coffee on my There we go. Why does he get one of those cold? What the hell? I don't know answers Just start with Nate anyway. Okay, so let me you want to do Nate first. Okay. Yeah. Here's the thing that I see with the avalanche um Maybe I'm just maybe this is just too simple But there is evidence here This is the avalanche without Gabriel and his call Like I think the Gabriel and his cog is one of the best leaders in the NHL full stop I don't think it was a coincidence that they haven't won a Stanley Cup since Gabriel and his cog Was injured and they started off gangbusters as Gabriel and his cog has now come back full time. Of course, he's injured now But he's expected back before the playoffs the one thing that I kept hearing Out of at a Colorado at the beginning of the season was and Colby you've been in a number of rooms So you can tell me whether I'm on base or off base um With and again, this is gonna sound like it's a shot at McKinnon and it's not

Um, everyone has their own style. Everyone's their own person But with Landis Gog in the room. He is their captain He has a certain style where everybody feels like they belong and they have their position And they're respected doing it and every the avalanche fits with Gabriel Landis Gog there Whether you're a first-line superstar third-parent D backup netminder whatever He doesn't run rooms hot. He doesn't run himself hot. He has an incredibly high standard for performance But he doesn't he doesn't earn through a season Nathan McKinnon burns like how many times have you asked yourself does he actually even have upper teeth Because we've never seen him. We've never seen mild does he have it? If we squit really hard could we like we saw him have we saw when he won the Stanley like okay Look, there's upper teeth on Nathan McKinnon Honestly, I think it's as simple as They need Gabriel Landis Gog back in that room so there aren't no over reactions

He's like the ultimate release valve for tension and that's why I still maintain He's one of the best captains maybe the best captain in the entire NHL And Colby you played you've been in rooms. Am I looking at this too? Simplistically more is there something there because I think that this is this is it with the abs. It's yeah I think I think made is such a big personality that his personality is still going to have a dominant effect on the team But you're right the ultimate alpha in that room the guy with the sea Who maybe doesn't have to yell and bark as much as McKinnon does he's not there and and so I I don't think you're over Simplifying it. I think it's an extremely fair point And I think that's the reason that Landis Gog wears the sea and Nate wears the a I think that management understands that I think all the way up to ownership and and I think there's room for both Of those personalities on your team course Absolutely now. Can I do something on the officials for a second? Yeah, this is one that I've asked that I've thought okay, so

Okay, so this is this is a really this is a really juicy topic and I don't know the way out of this scenario But we're in it right now It's staring us in the face and we're not addressing it and that's why I'm really glad that Colby brought this up So what's happened now when you look at new officials that come in? Okay, right now there's a lot of younger officials because to Colby's point this game is faster than ever and officials have to keep up Okay, for three periods. There's no like 30 seconds sprint and then go off and waterball and towel and chill out and get back out there in a couple of minutes Like they're on the ice like they're up and down the ice and paying attention and following puck process and looking at lines and all of that Okay, so in order to do that The way that Stephen walk cruz is you're getting ex-players that played a lot of minor pro played in your college background Just so you know they come out because you can skate when I stop playing with the coach. Yeah, I wasn't Yes, you're a skater you can keep up, you know, you're still young enough that you can have like a decent-sized career

Of working in the NHL the problem with that is As we all know it takes a long time to develop a feel for the game like when you've spent like your first 35 years of your life Thinking like a hockey player in order to make that adjustment to make that break to all of a sudden now I'm on the other side here And you don't have 20 years of experience and instinct to rely on or feel to rely on you get yourself in trouble You get yourself in trouble and sometimes a lot of these guys. I don't want to say rushed But they jump into the league without without having experience. What's that know what they said to me if you want to do this There's no promise, but within five years most likely you're in the national hockey league full-time That's what they said to me and I was like I never considered it because it's so far and above You know my interest levels and what I wanted to do in the game But 100% people came to me they asked me they told me it'd be quick

Listen, there's a guy Travis Garlowitz. He's a lion'sman in the American league I played with with Garley in the American league For a couple of years honestly, I played with him So if you would have asked him then are you going to be an official he would have probably laughed in your face But it was like no, I bet he want to go back to Western Canada or did he want to stay involved in the national hockey league Right, I mean it was that was kind of the you know, he was a he was a farm kid Unreal guy grew up working working on a farm Bustin is at all the time now he's in the NHL and I think he does a good job by the way I do and he's a lion'sman's a little bit different, but but yes I was approached for all these jobs. I know exactly what so What we've seen in the NHL in the last 15 years is a lot of senior officials Skate themselves out of the game. They just can't can't can't keep up anymore Like they just can't it is way too fast and they acknowledge it and that's why like every year You see like a couple of senior officials leaving the game So here's the this like awful trap that it feels like officials are in right now

You have to be able to be fast enough to keep up with the play. Okay, that's number one Then two, which is also important is you have to have a feel for the game The idea that you call the rulebook is Is ridiculous because if you call the rulebook it would be 60 minutes of power plays and nobody likes that There's a lot more that goes into officiating than just here's the rulebook. How come your arm is not going up? So you're getting player you're getting ex players Turned officials getting into the league quickly and now it's even shorter because who knows how much faster this game Is going to get and by the time someone finally has the experience to be able to feel a game out and call the game correctly They're the ones that are skating themselves out of the out of the NHL It's almost like if you're Steven. Welcome. You can't wait Until guys are done their pro careers on the ice as players like I look at you know Dave Jackson the rules analyst for e for ESPN his son Ryan is a as a lineman in the NHL

And like Dave started when he was 15 years old I actually might have been even been 14 years old and like the idea of like career referees Is so foreign such a foreign concept, but really it allows you to have like 15 years of experience in calling a hockey game Guys don't have that anymore and it's a real and it's a real problem And that's why you always see like when they're you know It's a two-official system So there's always a vet and a kid a vet and a kid and if you watch on TV timeouts Don't just look at the benches look at the officials It's always the senior official talking to the young official about what just happened It's like training on the go that's where we're at right now So I hear you say like it's a problem and I agree and I hear colby give You know potential solution that other people in the sport have talked about and yeah, you know if you give me a second Like baseball. I'm a big baseball fan the pitch clocks What a massive massive change to the sport that worked and this year They're gonna bring in ABS and they're gonna try fix the balls and strikes issues you look at the NFL

The NFL will change their overtime rules every two seasons because they don't think they have it perfect And yet you see the NHL and this could be a comment on George paros who I get that you want to stand up for your job And then the work that you do but he comes out and doesn't seem like he really wants to take too much criticism I mean, you know Gary Bettman gets asked at a cup final by Ron McLean about the officiating And he's almost insulted that you're even asking the question like why it seems in all these circles in the NHL Why are they so afraid to make changes? I just don't think they want to be public about it I think that they do understand that the game does need to be massaged Um, I think that this is you know still a sport that That needs that still needs some some younger ideas too, but that's a that's a whole separate topic I think this is a game that has always been shy and sensitive about moving it an inch to the right or an inch to the left You know why Tyler Canadians lose their minds. I really think this is a Canadian problem. I really do

I was a Canadian. I know this. I know Corby's loving this what Corby's like pretty shot America. I just gonna turn my mic off We lose our minds at the idea of changing the game in any fashion I always have it's our game. It's our game. How dare they try to how dare they try to change it I think if if anything is going to happen It's going to have to be like a loose attitude specifically north of the border Not south of the border to the to the other point about you know The eye in the sky and the pitch clock is a great example because that's sped up baseball. It's a lot more watchable My concern even though the eye in the sky does make a lot of sense philosophically What the NHL and I think hockey fans too even though they're I don't think they're necessarily as aware of it as the NHL is They've done a lot of work getting the game times to about 230 Two hours and 30 minutes for a game my concern about the eye in the sky is how many times do we stop After a whistle and then wait for three or four minutes for another call

There wasn't made on the ice that was made upstairs like that like guys that'll be the trade off It's like okay. We can we can do this But in this flow game do you want us essentially to have a TV timeout after every whistle? But I wasn't and I just want to be clear my my thought the way it would be deployed is more in the long the lines of Not making calls, but just almost more of a guide and and preemptively getting on top of things that they are already doing and again I know that that's happening in in the league office and there's the war room and all that But I believe it needs to be an actual official But I'm in there in the uniform. I don't even care. Let him wear the stripes in the But I hear you Jeff and listen, I've never left again Like like what the hell do I know about rafting? Honestly, but I just my version of what I said makes the game go faster not slower. It might be wrong But that's how it is in my brain It's harder it gets it's a lot harder than it seems. Let me give you an example

So and again, I'm gonna reference this is sounding the whole Conversations brought to you by Dave Jackson but a conversation that I had with him about what we consider tiki-tac penalty is like Oh, I can't believe you're calling how many times have you guys seen that we all have right? Oh, I can't believe they're calling that And the one thing that Dave says is normally What we consider to be a tiki-tac penalty when we're watching it as as fans That is and Colby knows this one because I'm sure he's had these communications on the ice with numerous officials That's an accumulation of you better stop this I'm gonna let this go. No, you're on the line. Don't do it. Don't do it again Happened three or four more times and then it happens at fifth time and finally it's like all right There's the call But we look at it and say Wow, what a cheap call that is ignoring the fact that that referee has already said you're walking the line Stop it. It's a 50 50 right now. Don't keep doing it Colby. How many times how many times have you had that conversation with the fish?

tons right I like the way you laid that out Jeff like a parent telling a toddler like okay, I'm gonna count to three One but dad so it's go over yeah, I'm gonna count the five and what I hit five in seconds because I really don't want to do it Jeff appreciate your time that she coming up and about half an hour. Thanks for popping on thanks Jeff. Awesome. Thanks boys. Be good Colby hashtag ask dfo the easiest whatever. Why didn't you want to be a ref? uh Geez um, I do like being criticized, but maybe criticized for things that I know I can be good at I just I don't think I have the temperament for it Tyler and uh be honest like I don't even know What the deal is with my hips these days being on the ice I was just I was ready to never be on the ice again Is probably the best reason I could give you I really like this rule change idea that we got from our friend at general soreness in the chat

The wind so we've there's been a lot of debate about how do you properly close off like offside challenges These goals where it's 30 seconds after the team gains the the zone and then you end up having to change it This idea is not one I've heard so I think it's a great comment the window for offside challenges Closes once the defensive team gains possession if you get the puck and touch the puck and don't get it clear It is on you and you can no longer challenge for offside. I like Throw like a red flag if it if you see it in real time and you're just like throwing a red flag on the ice like how are you No, so let's say a team get gets into the zone offensive team gets into the zone and they're offside So the other team in their video room is like okay, this is offside if they score We're gonna challenge it But if the defensive team gets the puck And they don't clear it like when it goes to review. It's like no you had the puck. We're not even reviewing this Okay, got it. Okay

That'd be interesting Yeah, listen, I think all ideas are interesting and we're talking about Yeah, all right, let's get to our daily bets brought you by bet three six five hockey fans There are a few things more stressful than a close hockey game one late back check can make all the difference between a chance at playoff glory Or an early spring t-time. That's why bet three six five an official partner of the NHL is offering the three goal early payout If the team you're riding goes up by three goals at any point in the game They'll pay out your bet early. I've benefited from this many times a hockey fans don't or hockey fans have enough things to stress about with three goal early Payout now your bets don't have to be one of them bet three six five download the after day must be 19 or older Please play responsibly Pat you see that when was the last time we had one of those green check marks next to my name Oh, it's been a while, but it's good plus 358 too. So you jumped up a few units there. Mm-hmm I am back in the mix excited for that you missed on Dallas against Utah yesterday tonight nine games on tap in the NHL

I'm going shot prop par lay trying to keep putting another dent into my deficit here This season Matt Barzel has hit this mark in four of five the juicy one is Josh Don He has been absolutely killing it with the shot props over the last couple of weeks here His line is set it three his last five games three three two four three He's been crushing this pretty regularly. I love it. I think it's something like seven of ten plus four fifty seven is juicy pat What do you got? Yeah, I'm gonna mix it up a little bit I'm going with the Conor McDavid two plus points their playing San Jose tonight No dry set also Conor's gonna have to step up plus he's playing against Celebrity so yeah a little bit of a competition there healthy for McDavid and then I'm taking Buffalo in the money line versus Vegas Maybe it's because I'm an other fan, but I think Vegas are frauds and Buffalo is one of the hottest teams right now So for plus two fifty keeping it light Hopefully I can get back in the winter circle the other thing for San Jose too. They are on a tough road trip It started last Tuesday in Buffalo. They went Buffalo, Boston, Montreal, Ottawa now across Canada to Edmundon

So I don't mind that spot there tonight Wrap it up the show a little bit of garbage time. We'll end the show with where we started last night Teams have been doing sort of the farewell thing for for on Jay Copatarn I thought this was a cool moment with him and Jonathan quick given each other a little bit of love I mean who knows what the future holds for quick as well I know he isn't doing like the big public retirement tour But like hey, this is the last time these two guys are gonna be on the the same ice surface together So I thought this was kind of neat Yeah, obviously a lot of history between the two some big silver trophies with their days in LA and it's interesting you bring up Jonathan quick. You're right. He's got He's in the last year of a 1.55 million dollar deal, but you got to tell you like he's been pretty good this year Is this the kind of guy that says you know what I'm gonna go out on top? I don't think so. I think Jonathan quick's gonna keep playing because I think he's playing at such a high level And I think that 30 40% Number that of the games that he plays maybe it's a little more like 30 because Shasturken does play more than most guys

I think it's a perfect number and I think if you can continue to basically be where you're from and play for the New York Great. I don't see why he wouldn't sign an extension So I hope we get to see more of Jonathan quick. I do I do, but great moment nonetheless Do you think the fact that they could be bad affects that at all? Or do you think he's done chasing like he got kind of the extra ring by being on the golden nights roster He won a ton of LA like people were saying up leading up to the deadline like all you know, especially in these parts Edmonton should go get him. He's having a good year. I don't he's not going anywhere. He doesn't want a ring chase, right? No, he's got a no no trade. I mean, it's modified, but no, I don't I don't think he's gonna ring chase He's got kids. He's got a family I think he's right where he wants to be and right in the area that he wants to be in and hey Someone says here's a million and a half two million bucks to be on a bad team You're like, you know what? I'm 40 years old. Why say no to two million bucks? And I'll probably never make two million dollars in a single year Um ever again Yeah, all right. Cool. Be great stuff. This is the second time you filled in while Huts was out in Disney World

So thank you very much for doing this and a big night for you behind the bench as well Hopefully we can get a big win tonight stay hot for the New Jersey Titans and as we push for the home ice in the playoffs All right, best of luck with that.
