Panthers Edge Blue Jackets in OT Thriller

The Florida Panthers grabbed the thrilling 2-1 overtime win over the Columbus Blue Jackets

on Thursday night at Amherst Bank Arena.

Sam Reinhardt sealed it with a power play goal just two minutes and twenty seconds into

extra time, marking their third straight victory.

The game stayed tight after Columbus jumped ahead, one nothing in the second period on Adam

Fantilly's wrist shot.

Florida even things up early in the third when Sam Bennett cleaned up a rebound off Reinhardt

shot during another power play.

Sergei Babrovsky stood tall for the Panthers with 30 saves, while Elvis Merzelikins stopped

19 shots for Columbus.

The Blue Jackets dominated early shots, but couldn't hold the lead, extending their

point street to eight games at four wins and four overtime losses.

Defensemen Mike Benning made his NHL debut a memorable one, picking up an assist on the

game winner.

Reinhardt also notched an assist earlier, helping Florida improve to 33 wins, 29 losses,

and three overtime losses.

Meanwhile, the Panthers managed without forwards card of a hage due to tightness and Anton

Lindell on rest, swapping and bending for an injured teammate.

Columbus sits at 33 wins, 21 losses, and 11 overtime losses after the hard fought defeat.
