In 2000, Alena Turley was held at knifepoint by a man she had previously been in a relationship with. The terrifying incident left her with PTSD and lasting trauma. Alena was able to disarm him that night, but what might have happened if she hadn’t?

In these two special episodes of True Crime Conversations, we’re exploring something rarely heard in true crime storytelling. With Alena’s blessing, we sit down with her to talk about the relationship, the warning signs, and the traumatic night that changed her life.

We’ve also invited the person responsible for the crime, who we’ll refer to by the pseudonym Kai, to answer the questions we rarely get the chance to ask the person on the other side of the crime.

This isn’t about justification or excuses. It’s about accountability, examining what happened, and trying to better understand the complex realities behind an act of violence.
