Tonight I was joined by Max Igan for a wide-ranging and lively conversation that moved from media control, censorship and surveillance technology to money, power, habit, and the deeper psychological machinery that keeps people compliant. Max reflected on how he first entered alternative broadcasting, from early radio in 2008 through years of films and talk shows, and we talked about why so many people can feel that something is badly wrong while still struggling to break the habits that keep them tied to the system. Along the way we touched on free speech platforms, data harvesting, digital dependence, and the way modern life steadily trades human skill, memory and independence for convenience.

In the second half, the conversation widened further into myth, consciousness and self-mastery. Max was briefly joined by Ivana of REBEL Psychotherapy, who offered a thoughtful perspective on inner freedom, psychological sovereignty and the need for genuine shadow work if people are to stop reacting mechanically to the pressures placed upon them. We also found time for books, storytelling, Tolkien, A. A. Milne, Van Morrison, and the cultural loss that comes when imagination is replaced by screens. After Max headed off to see friends in Croatia, Eric Von Essex joined me for a spirited closing stretch that somehow ended with the glorious notion of a national day of shouting the government away.
