0:00
It's Thursday, the 30th of April, the very last day of the month.
0:16
Welcome to the PDB afternoon bulletin.
0:19
I'm Mike Baker, your eyes and ears on the world stage.
0:22
Alright, let's get briefed.
0:24
Next up, new signs that the US could be preparing to renew military operations against Iran.
0:31
As the White House reviews strike plans, and reportedly may be preparing to use a hypersonic
0:37
weapon for the first time, I'll have the details.
0:41
Later in the show, authorities across Europe are investigating a wave of attacks targeting
0:45
Jewish communities, and the fingerprints from those attacks may lead back to Iran.
0:51
But first in today's afternoon spotlight.
0:54
This morning, we noted that the White House was looking to make the ongoing US blockade
0:58
of Iran the central point of pressure on the regime.
1:01
However, it does appear that military options are still very much on the table.
1:07
According to new reporting, President Trump is set to receive a high-level briefing from
1:11
the US Central Command on a range of updated military options for Iran.
1:16
And these are reportedly concrete proposals designed to either break the current stalemate
1:21
in negotiations or deliver a decisive blow before ending the conflict altogether.
1:27
Now it's worth noting that the last time Trump received a similar briefing from Centcom
1:31
back in late February, it helped set the stage for the opening phase of the war.
1:36
So this is the kind of meeting that could shift the direction of the conflict.
1:41
Among the options being presented is a, quote, short and powerful wave of strikes targeting
1:46
key Iranian infrastructure.
1:48
The idea here would be speed and intensity, hit hard, hit fast, and forced Tehran, backed
1:54
in negotiating table under pressure.
1:57
Another plan under consideration involves securing parts of the strait of Hormuz, potentially
2:01
with ground forces, to ensure commercial shipping can move freely again.
2:05
Now, that would mark a significant escalation, of course, shifting from a naval blockade
2:10
to physically controlling territory along the strait.
2:13
And of course, putting U.S. forces indirect proximity to Iranian weapons systems, including
2:18
drones and short-range missiles.
2:21
There's also been discussion of a special operations mission aimed at securing Iran's
2:25
stockpile of highly enriched uranium.
2:27
Now, that's a high risk, but high reward move, that could strike at the heart of the
2:32
regime's nuclear leverage.
2:35
But perhaps the most notable development is the potential deployment of a weapon that
2:39
the U.S. has never used in combat before, the Army's long-range hypersonic weapon, known
2:44
as, quote, dark eagle.
2:47
Each missile reportedly carries a price tag of around $15 million, and there are only
2:52
a handful currently available.
2:54
So it's not a weapon that you would use casually, it's reserved for you would think the highest
3:01
The system is designed to strike targets at extreme distances, more than 1,700 miles,
3:07
while traveling at speeds that make it incredibly difficult to intercept.
3:11
In practical terms, it would allow U.S. forces to hit time-sensitive, heavily-defended
3:15
targets, like missile launchers, that are currently out of reach for other systems.
3:21
And that's key, because intelligence suggests that Iran has been attempting to move some
3:25
of those launchers beyond the range of existing U.S. precision strike capabilities.
3:31
If approved, this would mark the first operational use of a U.S. hypersonic weapon in a significant
3:37
moment, not just for this conflict, but in the broader competition with adversaries
3:42
like Russia and China, that have already developed similar systems.
3:47
For now, the blockade reportedly remains Trump's preferred tool of pressure, but the fact
3:51
of these options are being briefed, and that advanced systems like dark eagle are under
3:56
consideration makes one thing clear.
3:59
If the current strategy fails to produce results, the next phase of this conflict could escalate
4:06
Alright, coming up next, a string of attacks across Europe may be part of a broader hybrid
4:11
warfare campaign being conducted by the Iranian regime.
4:17
Hey Mike Baker here, let me take just a moment if I could to talk about something very important
4:22
for anyone on Medicare, or about to sign up for Medicare.
4:26
Here's the thing, when folks get Medicare guidance, they rarely consider this fact that
4:32
agents get paid by big insurance to sell specific plans.
4:36
Look, that's just the way business works, so the advice that you may be getting is not
4:40
necessarily in your best interests.
4:42
It means you're often shown what they're paid to show you, not every option that's
4:46
out there, and the result, well the result as your doctor might not be covered, or your
4:51
prescriptions could cost way more than they should.
4:54
And the problem is more common than you think, and those unnecessary costs can add up quickly.
4:59
Here's what I think, you need someone with no skin in the game, and that's why I've partnered
5:04
They're the only national advisor comparing every plan that's available.
5:08
Their advisors are salaried, so they have zero incentive to steer you in a particular
5:14
And get this, it's a free 20 minute call, come on, it couldn't be any easier.
5:19
If you're turning 65, or already I'm on Medicare, just call chapter at 915-6715252.
5:27
Again, give chapter a call, their number 915-6715252.
5:34
Hey, Mike Baker here, with a very solid household tip, because as you know, I'm all about household
5:40
Look, it's time for spring cleaning.
5:42
Did you realize that?
5:43
And for taking stock of key household items, that's one of the things you should do during
5:48
And here, I'm talking about pots and pans, staples of the household that well often get neglected
5:54
Now, if you haven't replaced your cookware since, well, since forever, if you're using
5:58
pans you've been toting around since college, you know what I'm talking about, well, it's
6:02
time for an upgrade, and there is no better upgrade than hex-clad.
6:07
Hex-clad completely changed the game by combining the performance of stainless steel with the
6:11
convenience of non-stick, all in one pan.
6:15
Hex-clad's patented laser etched hexagonal ridges boost your searing power, and all hex-clad

6:52
Welcome back to the PDB afternoon bulletin.
6:55
At first glance, an empty car set ablaze in the Jewish District of Antwerp in Belgium
7:01
well it didn't seem like much, but as similar incidents began to surface, it became harder
7:06
to dismiss them as one-off acts of vandalism and easier to see the outline of perhaps something
7:12
coordinated across Europe.
7:14
In the hours after the car fire in late March, police moved in quickly and arrested two
7:19
Not long after, grainy footage of the incident surfaced online, showing one person pouring
7:24
liquid over the car and another lighting it.
7:27
And then comes a claim of responsibility from a group that until recently didn't even
7:32
exist in public view.
7:33
That would be the Islamic movement of the companions of the right.
7:37
The group this week has claimed responsibility for an attack in Golders Green London, a heavily
7:42
Jewish neighborhood where an attacker stabbed two individuals.
7:46
Previous incidents have included explosions outside synagogues and Jewish schools across
7:50
Belgium and the Netherlands, and vehicles set on fire in multiple cities, and in North
7:55
London, ambulances tied to a Jewish charity were torched.
8:00
All of the attacks unfolding over roughly two months across the United Kingdom, Belgium,
8:04
France, Germany, and the Netherlands, largely targeting Jewish or Israeli-linked sites
8:09
often under the cover of darkness.
8:12
Now these attacks haven't caused any deaths yet, and until the London stabbings, there
8:16
hadn't been any reported injuries.
8:19
What we're understanding is that they're small by design, with limited physical damage
8:24
and maximum psychological impact, and that appears to be the point.
8:29
Because when you look at the individuals carrying these out, it doesn't resemble a traditional
8:33
terror network, intelligence agencies across Europe, say many of those involved are teenagers
8:38
or young adults, mostly locals, with no deep ideological ties and no formal training.
8:45
In many cases, they're recruited online, through platforms like Snapchat or Telegram,
8:50
offered small amounts of cash and given simple instructions.
8:54
According to the New York Times, a defense lawyer in the Antwerp case said her client
8:58
had, quote, no idea what he was part of, but was simply trying to make, quote, quick
9:04
The lawyer went on to say that those teenagers across these incidents are, quote, basically
9:07
cannon fodder, they're being used and, quote, well, European authorities have not formally
9:13
attributed these attacks.
9:15
The tactics, the targets, the geographic spread, and even the online platforms, where these
9:21
claims are circulating point in a familiar direction.
9:24
Authorities across Europe are now investigating whether there are links, direct or indirect,
9:28
to Iran, or one of its regional proxies.
9:32
And if that connection holds, it fits into a broader pattern that Western intelligence
9:36
agencies have been warning about, Britain's MI5, already flagged a rise in Iranian linked
9:41
activity across Europe, even before the latest escalation in the Middle East.
9:47
So what may be happening now is the clearest evidence of hybrid warfare, and PDB listeners
9:52
have heard us talk about this before, from cyberactivity to sabotage to disinformation campaigns.
9:59
And now outsourced acts of street-level violence, carried out by individuals who may not even
10:04
fully understand what they're part of.
10:07
It's working, at least, in the way that it's designed to.
10:11
Jewish communities across Europe are now on edge.
10:14
We're saying synagogues increase security, and governments step in with military and
10:18
police foot patrols.
10:20
In Britain alone, police arrested 28 people in connection with these incidents, with
10:25
eight facing arson-related charges.
