2:02It's your spot for instant rays reaction after every game. My name is Jonathan Chewles. One of the more frustrating losses of the year before the raise as they blow what a four-run lead as they have to settle for a series split. Against the Texas Rangers, we're going to break it all down. I'll talk about how the rays are going to settle for that, a did settle for that split, and how the offense, I thought, looked really good. Once again, what sloppy play really, really let the rays down today, specifically, and that fourth and fifth inning, when that comeback started to happen. But first, sloppy play and all. The one thing you'll have to raise down more than anything today, what's the pitching? This is what you'll be talking about. So a month ago, I would tell you that this isn't concerning, because maybe some of these pictures want to be pitched for the rays in big games, playoff times, etc. With the injuries that had happened over the last 48, 72 hours, that is less likely because of these guys going to have to step up. Now in a playoff series, you might have to start an ANC more. You might have to throw a Steven Mats.

3:02You might have to throw a Cole Solser, whoever it may be. And those were the main culprits tonight. And you could tell Cymor just completely ran out of gas in the fourth inning. And I don't know if his arm just looked dead. His Velo was down. I'm glad that Cash got him out of there early. And I'd say it is a big, big off day tomorrow for the race, because they need it, man. They've been playing a whole lot of baseball lately. And they get a few off days in August to hopefully help them reset. But the race got off to a nice lead, and our turning point has to be when the comeback started. Time to reveal where the game was once or lost. It's the turning point. So the fourth inning was super frustrating, because you have the two run homer, which is what it is. It's five to three. And you have Kevin Kelly coming in. And Kelly gets two of the outs. And then you get an infield single. That shouldn't have been an infield single, because Velaid, I don't know if the guy was stealing him or would it go cover him or go behind him. Velaid at second is just, I don't think it's entirely viable. You can tell us not his better position.

4:02Obviously, he's an outfielder. But I thought he struggled there today. And then after that later, the very next batter, you get the throwing error by him. I tell you, one of his two errors tonight. So for as much as we get on Taylor Walls, Taylor Walls is probably making that play. And right after that, you get the double that ties the game. And it's frustrating because two, the race really got five outs at any. And against good teams. And I still classify the majors as a good team, even though I don't know if they're going to make the playoffs. Against talented teams, I should say, every team that will be talented. You can't keep shooting yourselves in foot over the weekend. And it's an expect different results. And not to mention, you know, some of the pitch locations for Matt's not last that bat. I mean, O2 fastball that he throws not quite high enough. Like it's pretty middle middle right side of the zone. And that leads to the game time run. And the fifth. Again, kind of what happens in the fifth is Matt's still pitching. You get the walk. And then. It's just more care. And then I think it's going to be a good match.

5:03And then. It's just more chaos happens. It's more miss pitch locations that you got to give some credit to the, the ranchers, they did put up some bad at bats. I saw some good at bats. But again, I didn't think Matt's stuff was bad. Like again, I think Matt's coming out of the bullpen is actually pretty viable. And he was pretty good up until this game. But again, if you're in a game five of an a DS against the rankings, the Yankees are right socks. Do you want any one pitching in this game pitching a game like that? No. And I know that maybe that might be unfair thing to say, like it might be. But you know, when that's how I kind of view things for the race. And luckily for us, that's how they made it has made us view them. But like the offense never went away. We're going to talk more in depth about them a second. But Deluca makes it seven to six. And then again, Solsler for the first time pitching in a while. You know, what do you get his first batter, Cory Seeger, Homer Lopez, double. And then, you know, yes, the racers are lucky to get out of it.

6:05Actually, a good job getting out of it. But it just speaks to the raised pitching death. And I'm not I like Ian Seymour. I'm not going to really throw Seymour under the bus. Like if Ian Seymour had a throw coming out of the bullpen and and and and eating in there. I'm not I'm not too worried about that. It's more of, you know, like a mean a Matt Solsler. Can one of those three guys step up in the playoffs, what it matters because you have to you have to anticipate that you're not getting one of Rodriguez or club. And I think that's just safe to say you never know, especially with arm tightness like like club and you have is the same thing with my clan hand. You just never know. Maybe they're back at the end of the month. Maybe they're not. And because of that, if that holds, if that holds, then you're going to need one of those three guys to step up in a pretty big way. And, you know, who's it going to be because in the playoffs is all about, you know, maybe guys that struggled in the and the regular season, they came up big in the playoffs. We've seen happen throughout the 150 years of baseball. But, you know, for the race, I think just like Brenda team, it's pretty proud of the relevant.

7:11These are none like, you know, great A problems like breaking news of the race, bottom three guys in their pole, open are an elite like. The, you know, like no one has 12 elite guys in their in their bullpen, but it's more can they be servicible when the time comes. And more often than not, they have not been, which which has been frustrating because normally when the race get a four run lead, it's pretty much wraps after that. But it was just kind of the perfect storm of everything to to kind of throw that off. And again, I don't want to sweep the sloppy play from underneath this like, Mateo had two big errors like the late had a few a few errors in there that are that go ahead single. I think in the fourth like that's a ball that I thought maybe Richie gets to up the middle. I mean, now you're just splitting hairs at that point. Again, it is frustrating when you have a chance to take three out of four before going to Atlanta, basically clinching a 500 home stand or a trip before going to Atlanta, you know, a team that is just as good as any team in baseball. And we're going to preview that series in a second, but you know, when in this game would a long way, but again, I don't think anyone's upset in a split in Texas where up until the series, there is a one by four years.

Well, we're talking about our player of the game. This is the locked on player of the game. There's a few different ways that you could go here. I mean four guys with multi hit games huge. I thought Victor Mesa to isn't still been incredibly impactful. Big Victor Mesa guy. But I'm going to highlight Jonathan Ronde again because his his bat over this entire series has been huge. He's closing it on 20 homers for the first for the first time this year.

12:37Again, he was fantastic again today after being really good again yesterday. And he just continues to be just money. You know, he's for maybe the forgotten about of the big three with Yandhi junior. And he's just as important as any of those guys for this race offense. You have Yandhi also with two hits Simpson. I could easily throw Dulucca in there. I thought he was awesome today as well. But again, when the pitching gives up eight runs and you blow a four one lead. You know, it's tough. And I thought the raises today did a really good job of taking their walks. Like they don't exist for walks that the Rangers give up. But that's not I don't think that includes intentional walk. That junior took as well. But that was one of the problems with the race today. The the the raisins have given up five walks. But I thought the race played discipline watching when I was watching really stood out to me. And that's something that stood out all year. You know, their team that really strikes out and the offense again really good. That the four one second was awesome. I mean, that job by Mesa left on left to get that into left and have a slide by Mateo on the four test. But and then the race able to scratch across two other ones. And then obviously we talked about the Dulucca single with scored Chandler Chandler again after not having to hit just another multi hit game him in the on you and junior all up there and leaving them.

13:48I can leave a multi hit game. So this offense man has really impressed me over the last few days in Texas. And you know, my biggest fears of offense being inconsistent as we saw on Monday when they got shut out. But we've seen more of the highs recently, you know, six runs or more in the last three games big time big time stuff from this race offense. But let's look ahead to the game. The series starting on Tuesday again day off for the raise on Monday. I much needed to have that they will need tomorrow on Labor Day. So the raise. I believe one of a lot of teams are playing tomorrow. They're the prize. They don't the M. I'm a major based one doesn't stack Labor Day a little bit more during the day. But anyway, they'll start Tuesday and Freddie Peralta will be going against AJ Smith. Shover, Shover who's one of the weak links in this in his brave pitching staff. So, you know, last year he was, you know, one of their high prospects came up nine stars 32 to the 360 already got hurt. And most of this year up until July and since then he's given up at least three earned in his last three outings. And you know, if you're looking at this series that this seems to be the one to get with Freddie over his last two hour outings being absolutely fantastic six and he's one earned each of the six I can buy 12 and he's one earn five hits over his last two outings.

15:04Freddie has been awesome. Hopefully he can continue that. You know, I'm not going to expect him to go to shut out every game, but I give the raise a quality start and you know, get put the and start to put the raise in a good position to win on Wednesday is going to be grant homes for script and jacks grant homes happen to sneakie good season for the Braves. He's breaking more down on Tuesday, but you know, he's been really good this season. I thought and anytime I've watched the Braves homes as ironically been on a lot of play. He's impressed me. And then Thursday, a little matinee new game in the race will face. And Chris sale and Chris sale is about as good as it gets at anyone in baseball right now. And you know, with that the race are going to have to be on the right game. Their picture is not yet been decided. I wonder I don't know who the race will go with there. Maybe the bumps on the brinkstone up. We'll see sale CRAs at 2 1 0 and just to just put it in perspective. His last time out was six and he's too earning his fillies time before that nine and he's no earned against the Dodgers.

16:04Two of the five best offenses in baseball. So yeah, not much more to say other than that. Everyone knows Chris sale future Hall of Famers. So that's a look ahead for the race. They're going to be after all have to be on their A game if they want to want to take home at least a 500 road trip, which you know, I think the race are still in a pretty good position to do. But you know, we'll see we'll see. But again, getting the split in Texas, nothing but shame built place where they never win. And you know, that's you know that we'll leave that as we'll start with Douglas Bhattista here is the Seymour's give up nine home runs last five starts. He can't keep in the yard. And if you move the bullpen the playoffs. He'll say something in the tail of the tropes. Yeah, that's his one problem. The swinging misses area. It's kind of like on offense with the home run ball. It's like the all or nothing. Seymour really seems like it's struck out of the home run from the other perspective, which you don't see too often. But yeah, it's not to ampton says a game that could have been one. I agree with you when you get a four run lead, you expect to win that game as frustrating when you don't to say the least as good a Gary says this one was squandered. Unfortunately, nevertheless, the split of four game series with no ground apparently being lost in the ink used to

17:13be losing three nothing in the seventh yet look the razor still going to be four games up on September eighth, you know, which is about all you can ask for as we go back to Bob Bhattista missed opportunity but Seymour couldn't go at least five out of few and it was going to be rough with a complete bullpen. Now we've read the podry's beat New York and the Yankees of the Rockies next. Yeah, we've talked about the Yankees have a favorable stretch coming up. They get the Rockies twins and that met over the next three series in whatever order. And those are you have to anticipate them when you all three those series because you know their first father getting healthy second, you know, they're just a good team. So we'll see as we get the shadow. Sorry, says that was a game that was the race being the race. Find a way to lose that game. Yeah, but I do agree with the mistakes and the walks and whatnot, but the Rangers also came up with a few big hits. And I think the two homers that the one guy that was a real pain, but all all all series for the race was a guy that frankly I have not heard much about it was a, I don't know, I sure had a pass. The name the the cue guy or the guy that just breaks lefties and he rake the raise all all series really, but you know what what that being said, you take the lumps, you know, I tend to look at the positives after this, but I also started looking at things big picture.

18:28After this, which you know, we're blessed with the race that we get to do because of the position that put themselves in, but again, Fosky, I thought has just killed the race all he seems like a raised guy as well. But as we go again to Gary, he says it will if all three wild cars come from the alley, so be the first time that has happened from the same decisions, this divisions this and will be adopted a 3d format back in 2022. Yeah, look, I remember people were hanging on the ALE's in the first two months of the season, but then the red socks turned it on and you know everything just went from there, but the ALE's didn't mind for my money is the deepest best division baseball, you know, maybe you want to throw the NL West in there, you know, that's fine with me, but the ALE's has a lot of really good teams and that's not too surprising, but anyway, we're going to get out of here.
