The Detroit Red Wings are fighting for a playoff spot after missing the postseason for

a full decade.

Their latest challenge comes from injuries to Captain Dylan Larkin and Senator Andrew

Copp, both expected to sit out at least two weeks.

Larkin hurt his right leg on March 6th during a game against the Florida Panthers.

Copp picked up his injury just four days later, also against the Panthers.

That is the schedule heats up.

Coach Todd McClellan shared the update after Thursday's morning skate in Tampa Bay.

He called it a two week timeline for both, with plans to check their progress then.

Fans in the team know these centers drive the offense.

Larkin has been a red wing for all 11 years of his career.

This season through 63 games, he has 28 goals and 27 assists.

Copp adds solid production too, with eight goals and 29 assists in 65 games.

The Wings hold a playoff position for now, but the coming games test their depth.

They face the Tampa Bay Lightning next, then head to Dallas before a four game homestand

starting March 16th against Calgary.
