Schenn's Blues Legacy Honored in Return Visit

The St. Louis Blues have traded center Braden Shen to the New York Islanders after 9 years

with the team.

Acquired in the summer of 2017 to bolster the center position, Shen became a key leader.

He played 650 games, scored 181 goals, and tallied 465 points.

He earned all-star honors, won the Stanley Cup, and served as captain for two and a half seasons.

Shen's impact started strong in his first blue season, where he played all 82 games, hit

a career high 28 goals, and led the team.

Endpoints and assists.

He delivered clutch playoff goals, like tying a must-win game against Winnipeg in 2019,

and an overtime winner against Vancouver the next year.

One gritty highlight was his overtime goal against Tampa Bay during the Cup winning streak.

Fans still cherish his fight right after the puck dropped in a game following the death

of Blues icon Bobby Plager in March 2021.

It fired up the team, and honored Plager's tough spirit.

But as the fighting moment came in game 7 of the 2019 final, scoring to make it 3-0 and

sealed the cup.

Shen returned to St. Louis this week for the first time since the trade.

The crowd gave him a standing ovation during a TV timeout, and his former teammates banged

their sticks in salute.

His legacy as a hard work in captain matches the Blues Blue No Pride.

Expect him in the team's Hall of Fame someday, with memories that will last.
