Seahawks' Draft Focus: Cornerback Colton Hood

On March 17th, the Seattle Seahawks grabbed 11 picks in the 2025 NFL Draft, with 9 going to offense.

That left their defense thin, so heading into 2026 with just four selections, they're expected to shift gears hard toward the other side of the ball.

ESPN's Mel Kuiper Jr. has them taking corner-back Colton Hood right out of the gate in the first round.

After free agency hits, Seattle lost key pieces like corner-back Rick Willen and Ed Rusher, Boy Mephe, creating big holes in the secondary and pass.

Rush, they also say goodbye to safety, Kobe Bryant, though rookie Tyle Cotta might step up there.

Still, experts see corner-or-edge as the top priority early.

Hood stands six feet tall and tips the scales and nearly 200 pounds, making him a physical fit for head coach Mike McDonald's scheme.

He turned heads at Tennessee last year with sharp tackling, missing just 6.6% of attempts after struggling more at Colorado the prior.

Season, in coverage, he's been stingy, allowing only one touchdown pass over his whole college career while breaking up 10 passes last year.

Interceptions are his next frontier, though, with just one on the book so far.

With Josh Job likely starting outside, and Devon with his boon locking down the slot, General Manager John Schneider could use a top corner to round out.
