Seahawks Eye Clowney for Edge Rusher Boost

On April 26th, Seattle Seahawks hit the 2026 NFL Draft with just four picks, but walked away with eight, mostly grabbing guys on day three.

Who might not shake things up big time right away?

They skipped adding an edge rusher though, leaving a gap after losing boy mafe to the Bengals on a three-year deal worth up to 60 million.

General manager John Schneider dropped JD-on Clowney's name as a potential move, hinting they're not done shopping there.

The current edge crew, Derek Hall, Usenna, Novosu, DeMarcus Lawrence, plus some unproven backups, needs a proven spark to keep the past rush humming.

Fans and analysts see Clowney as a smart bridge since he thrived in Mike McDonald's system back in 2023 with the Ravens, Notching Nine, and a half-sacks.

He kept producing last year with the Cowboys 2, 8 and a half-sacks, and 12 tackles for loss, even at age 33.

Signing him for a one-year stint around 6 to 7 million bucks fits perfect, buying time to rebuild younger next year when Seattle Projects 11.

DeMarcus Lawrence is also 33, so this keeps the rotation elite without breaking the bank.

With the NFC West staying savage against the Rams and 49ers, and after that, Super Bowl run last season, grabbing Clowney locks in veteran juice to defend the crown and stay ahead of the pack.
