Seahawks Likely to Lose Woolen, Jets Eye Talent

On March 9th, the Seattle Seahawks are poised to part ways with cornerback Rick Woolen this

off-season.

The 26-year-old fifth-round pick burst onto the scene as a rookie with six interceptions

and a pro-bull selection, but his production dropped, off sharply over the next three years.

That said, sporting news columnist Vinnie Eier sees Woolen fitting well with the New

York Jets, who need cornerback help after trading away sauce.

The Jets have a track record of grabbing talent from Seattle, like DJ Reed, and want more

athletic playmakers.

Seahawks fans worry about the hit to their secondary, which powered the team's Super Bowl

run.

Woolen lost his starting job this year, starting just seven of sixteen games, and his tackling

and coverage numbers tanked.

Meanwhile, the team faces more uncertainty with Josh Job, also reaching free agency,

at a projected $9.7 million per year.

Along with $58 million in cap space, General Manager John Schneider typically lets players

test the market before deciding.

As Seattle builds around young star Devon Witherspoon and limited backups, expect moves
