3:08Yes. We got a little wrap. We're starting off. We're joining out by a Husper line. Sean, kind of hand a Sean. Good morning, Sippel. We got a guy to go wrap and fire with Sean at 817. We got him till 827. 10 minutes. Sean, are you dialed in? Yeah, 10 minutes is plenty of time. I remember when we only had like four minutes. So we cut out some money to play here. A lot of time here. We're good. 10's good. 10's probably not. Yeah, like we had no ties on Wainty Radio segment. We're good to go. And now listen, Sean, 10 is optimum. Um, can you kind of describe the nature of the discussions, or discussions if you want to, if you will, in the press box at half time versus end of game, the comparing contrast. You were, I mean, you were a little, um, what's the word I want to use? Serly, Serly? Yeah, you, you, you got pretty upset. Oh, come on. Just, well, you were just a little like, wow, like this is what we're dealing with here. But, you know, to Nebraska's credit, they got in that early hole.

4:13And it almost took three quarters. It felt like for them to kind of gain full control of the wheel. I mean, it, I mean, look, Ohio got that thing down to a one score game again in the fourth quarter with a touchdown on the two point score, uh, to get it to 28, 21 before Nebraska scored three straight touchdowns at that point and out scored Ohio 42 to eight down the stretch. Um, but yeah, it was kind of the tale of two games, or the first half. A lot of new things with new coordinator, new players and keep positions. Um, and you just had some of that first game stuff. We saw it everywhere across the country though. I mean, there were, there were some outliers where top level program, it looked great in week one. But, you know, Ohio was a team that's one nine to eleven games, four straight years, and their quality, um, F, uh, group of five program, just like Western Michigan, who won the Mac last year was. And, you know, we, we, we saw a lot of people have kind of issues in week one that were able to kind of pull them out in the end. What do you, how would you assess Nebraska's defense?

5:14I think we would say the offense, you know, you're like, okay, I think that, that's in a pretty good spot. How do you feel about the defense? You know, the biggest thing I'd say is that upfront pressure. You know, how much did, or it show what they were going to do? And, you know, when they really need to dial it up against higher level competition, what's that going to look like? Is, you know, I think I would have liked to have seen the defensive lineman, you know, winning more upfront where you just see like a guy just come like tire Robinson, which is completely annihilated guy on a play where you don't have to blitz and all of a sudden tire Robinson shuts down the run. You know, I want to see more of that. Now moving forward where you have guys that win their, their situations up front and, and, and make a play. And, you know, then, then a lot of other things can happen. But, yeah, I think they're limited on their blitzing. They didn't do a lot of that and they subbed a lot too. I think they played a lot of different faces to try to get more and more people opportunities to see what they have.

6:15Was there anything that surprised you from the defense? Jeremiah Jones. Oh, yeah, I mean, I think just, yeah, you mentioned Jeremiah Jones and Mac Markway. I mean, these were guys that were playing tight in and wide receiver in the spring or, you know, last season. And then they're playing in the game as rush ins for Nebraska, which tells you Roy Manning is trying to find something there, trying to find athletes. Guys that pass the clear eyeball test that can be converted into rush in guys. And they need that for this defense to work. I mean, I think they need to have better play on the edge overall. When a year ago, your leading sack person was only two and a half sacks. I mean, they've got to find something better than that move here moving forward. Yeah, the Jeremiah Jones discussion is really interesting, he was in on the second series. I mean, they're clearly, they're clearly intent on using him. Did you get enough, did you get enough of a picture from the special teams to form any kind of opinion?

7:20Yeah, the two, the two offside fall start penalties. You don't see that very often and I'm sure that's correctable. You would hope that's not going to happen again. I mean, you can go a whole season without seeing that penalty. I know. You've got two in a game. So that was kind of a, you know, the Nisei Hunter. I kind of look at that as he had one catch in the game and what two targets and probably a frustrated guy that wanted to make a play with the ball in his hand because he hadn't gotten a lot of targets. And Dana said, yesterday we got to get Nisei a more targets. But he should have been content with taking that kick off to the 25 yard line or whatever it was going to be. He versus trying to go full, full Johnny Rogers and cut back up for you. The jet, the jet seems like that. I think that's not bad enough. And I mean, that was a, you know, and put them on the eight in that moment. That was a bad deal because you had started out slowly. And then here to put your offense on the eight. If not for Klan, Andrea, with that perfect throw to quasi-yomer,

8:20you know, that, that, you know, which kind of sparked that 92 yard scoring drive. That was significant. But other than that, I mean, there's not a lot of, there weren't a lot of great,able special team moments. I mean, the PATs are great. They didn't kick a field goal. Now, Archie Wilson, as a punter, you know, has not really corked it much further than 40 yards. Right. That's why this, so, you know, can he do that? Can he cork it and do some more things than what we saw? And, you know, they should have had a pump block in the end zone. It was an inch away. Oh boy. There was a guy that came in untouched. And, you know, that, in a big 10 game, that probably is a block. Just with the level of athletes on big 10 teams or some acting. Showed by Sean Kellan. Sean, there's a lot of questions before the season about the running back picture with Mozee, McKinnell, and Jamal Rouett. Looked very good in game one against Ohio. Was that just a lesser team? Or was it a better picture than maybe we thought it was for the rest of the season? No, I think they've been pretty confident. I mean, 31 carries for 2.17 and look, well, Ohio again, guys, I mean, they're not a bad Mac team. I mean, that's, that's not Houston, Christian or Akron from a year ago.

9:24I mean, I would say that was a much better team than some of the, you know, lower tier programs of brass gifts based on just the history of their program in the last four years. 11:24into each other. Jamal rule, just the way he can have that kind of keep leveraging kind of cut outside. Not every back tries to do that very few can. That translates. He's able to kind of bounce those runs and kind of keep his balance on the edge. That was impressive for a true freshman. That's a natural skill set that he has clearly shown which a lot of backs try to do in the big 10. Our individual one football. It's not easy to do. Sean, I know we're bouncing around a little bit. Now I'm going to bounce from offense back to defense just to stay with us. How much different might this defense look with Owen Chambles? He was leading tackle for San Diego State. A leader in this program already with what he's done and all of the things he's gotten here. He wondered about the communication and just some of the things he brings with the green dot. Like the opening play of the game, if Chambles is getting the communication and the helmet

12:26headset, is he able to communicate better to Jeremiah Charles in that situation? I don't know that. I don't know the logistics of how that works on a game day. Some of the things that he might bring. It's supposedly he was at practice yesterday, which is a good sign and hopefully he's out there this week. Not to dwell on the negative, but if you really think about it, Sean, that's about a startling of first play in a game as we've seen. Maybe in the history of the program. Yeah, it was startling. One that I'll never forget was in the big 12 championship game in 06. I believe this was the opening play of the game where Maurice Purify fumbled the ball on that little stick route that he ran and led to a turnover which a lot of people home with a score on a day that it wasn't easy to score with the weather conditions. That was that set the tone for a conference title game.

13:29This one being an opener with a new defensive coordinator here, Rob Orridge. I can't imagine what's going to be your mind at that point. If I've been cursed here the first play of my time at Nebraska, this happens. As a professional, I think you stay in the moment and understand we've got to fix this and go on quick, right? Oh yeah. Steve said he had a lot of people there in support of his family and friends were there. Well he did. Yeah, you'd almost want to go to him and say we're all right. Don't worry about this. The kid made a big mistake. Sean, any preliminary thoughts on bowling green? The Falcons are O1-1 having lost to Tarleton State. preliminary thoughts. I think don't, I mean a lot of people just kind of chuckle who's Tarleton State actually at top 10 level FCS program. I mean that, that, you know, shirts and upset on paper. But you know, I think a lot of people like, oh, they lost to Tarleton. I mean, so I'm not going to just like dismiss bowling green.

14:30I had a George as he knows, a good, you know, good background, high-smotrophy winner. To me, that's the story. Just at the presence of Eddie George coaching a game and Lincoln, I'm really intrigued by just that full picture and what that's going to look like. Yeah. He will not play though. He won't. Don't believe he will. Sean, always good stuff. Thanks for time with Chad with you again next week. I was going to say I built Bush. I might remember this, but an 0-4 Eddie George came to Lincoln and used to work out with Dave Kennedy, right? Coach Bush. He did. Yes. He was a football team. He was him and Larry Fitzgerald. 15:31Very short. George. Yes. Whoa. I don't know where they stay. We're probably kindler. Kindler. No, no. Kindler. What was the kind of event that also the radio was the holiday in? It was. It's sweet. Was it? Well, I used to stay there. Why? And when we first got one of the times that I first got hired here and my room was up on the top floor. And because there was a time when you were staying there where you just, you had a hotel and you just moved here suddenly. So you hadn't moved any of your stuff here and nothing. They pay for it at that. And yeah, we had, we had to get some pay time. It was nice. And sometimes I did, then I just stayed there for a while to have paid myself because I didn't have any place to live. But I would, you come in so late. And I'd walk right into the lounge and I'd get a, I'd get a, I'd get a course light bottle. And I would drink it in the elevator and throw it away right next to the outside of the trash and then went to bed. It was like 1230 at night. And you're getting back up. You're getting back up. I planned it. You're getting, well, it was, it was, it was going to take a while to put the point was it's like that's the amount of free time you had per day was right around 25 seconds.

16:35That's what, that was the time you had to just kind of get yourself together. What a life. You could have one beer. It's 25 seconds. Yeah, because you were getting back up at four o'clock. What a life you lived. And so it was kind of fun. But that was the holiday in. I enjoyed it. I enjoyed it. Yeah, had a great time there. Yeah, this is great. Yeah, enjoyed the heck out of it. Yeah, it was like, I don't know. I don't know like that. Sean is right. But down 17, nothing, it's Tarleton state. I'm going to have a hard time building bowling green up in this game. It is interesting that Eddie George is here. That's about where the intro stops. I think you're going to see Sean did a good job selling that one. And he has to do that. But I'm not buying into into that spread so it 28 and a half. It's 28 and a half. The game should be taken care of by half. And it does matter. It does not. This game will be over ER. It happens. I'll tell you what, and it matters. I mean, I, you can't say that it doesn't matter. It does matter. If I was the head coach, I'd say this, this matters greatly. Take care of business. Don't mess around with this team. Do what? Do what a good team would do.
