Good morning everyone and welcome to this morning's episode of the Maritime Morning Brief, brought to you by the Munexchange of Pewdie's Sound. I am your host Sarah back again this morning bringing you the essentials on vessel movements and maritime conditions today in Washington. It is Thursday September 3rd, 2026 and today we are anticipating the arrival of five vessels. This is expected to include three container ships and two passengers. We're also expecting the departure of five vessels including two passengers, one tanker, one row row and one vehicle carrier. But of course these as all ship schedules are dynamic, subject to change and always changing. So please log into our AIS feed, check out the daily paper or call into the operations center if you need more up-to-day information throughout the day.
For today's tides in Seattle we will have low tides at 0351 and 1549 with high tides at 1051 and 2121. For the weather we're expecting a high of 62 degrees and a low of 52 degrees with south, south-west winds 6-8 knots. And there is rain and showers and possibly some thunderstorming on the docket today. It's giving me hours to tell you the weather report but I'm not entirely sure about that. So it says rain likely before 11am and thunderstorms after 11am. So to me that just means rain and thunderstorms. Take what you wish but expect some rain and of course check your local weather today if you need more details on that. Before we sign off I just wanted to go over some tanker flag numbers that we are putting out. So there's a graphic that goes along with this on all of the social media. As if you want to go over there and check that out and kind of see the numbers for yourself. But of course this has been you know very hot topic.
What is going on with tanker flags and Jones X and all these things. And we can't speak to how this relates to all of those things but we just wanted to give you the numbers we have on the tanker flags right now. So through July Puget Sound has seen 170 US flag tanker arrivals against 164 foreign flag. So this is a 51 to 49 percent split. At this point last year it was 169 to 118 which was closer to a 59 and 41 percent. AKA we have some more foreign flag tanker arrivals. Underneath that Singapore flag tanker's more than doubled year over year from 13 to 28 and the Marshall Islands is still the largest foreign flag by volume up from 39 to 50. Again we can't exactly say how this fits into everything. Everyone's got their theories but these are just the numbers that we have. We want to share them with you so that you have them and can use them to assess for your work as needed.
