You have to separate the undeniable physical engineering achievements from the messianic sociological promises. That's a vital distinction. Right, because the engineering feats of Musk's companies landing orbital class reusable rocket boosters backward on a drone ship in the middle of the ocean, or forcing the entire legacy automotive industry to pivot to electric vehicles. These are tangible, incredibly difficult
physical realities. But the rhetoric surrounding those achievements rapidly escalates into pseudo religious prophecy. Because when you solve an incredibly complex physics problem, you start to believe that human sociology is just physics. You haven't written the math for you. That is the exact mechanism of the god complex. They assume that socio-economic problems like global poverty are simply engineering bottlenecks. But eliminating poverty is not a hardware problem. It is not solved by simply manufacturing cheap robotic labor. No, of course not. The mundane grinding friction of daily survival. Precisely. But when you possess tens of billions of dollars, you permanently neutralize every single local day-to-day threat. You have effectively insulated yourself from the friction of the human condition. So what happens to the human brain, an organ evolutionarily hardwired to constantly scan the horizon for existential threats when all the immediate threats vanish? The threat to Texas isn't turned off. It just looks for bigger monsters. Yes. The concerns mutate. They metastasize into grand, abstract, civilizational anxieties. And on the surface level, a technologist might argue this is merely a modern optimization of an old habit. How so? Well, instead of frantically searching Google forums at 3am or flipping through a dog-eared copy of a parenting book, he is using a conversational interface to synthesize medical and behavioral data. I hear that defense, but I have to aggressively push back on it. We're talking about the mechanisms of human evolution here. Parenting is arguably the ultimate fundamental test of human biological intuition.
