South Carolina Basketball Loses Another Key Player

On March 23rd, South Carolina's men's basketball team is losing another key piece this

off-season, with forward Jordan Butler sets to enter the NCAA.

Transfer portal.

He's the third game cock to do so, following Elijah Strong in Eli Ellis.

The portal opens on April 7th and stays active until April 21st.

Butler, a 7-foot forward, transferred from Missouri to South Carolina before last season.

In 25 games this year, with four starts, he averaged 2.8 points and 1.8 rebounds.

Over two seasons, he played in 53 games total.

Butler comes from strong in-state routes, starring at Christchurch Episcopal School under

his father, with a one-state titles in 2021 and 2023.

His mom even played hoops for South Carolina back in the day.

The departures come as Coach Lamont-Paris returns for a fifth year, after guiding the team

to the NCAA tournament in 2024, but struggling.

With sub-500 records, and just six SEC wins over the last two seasons.

With several players out of eligibility, like Michi Johnson and Miles Stute, plus these

portal moves, South Carolina faces a major roster rebuild, heading into next season.
