South Carolina Basketball Losing Players to Transfer Portal

On March 24, South Carolina's men's basketball team just lost its fourth player to the

transfer portal this off season.

Forward EJ Walker announced his plans to enter, marking the third departure today alone.

The portal officially opens on April 7 and stays open for entries until April 21.

Walker saw limited action last season after starting as a redshirt.

He appeared in 22 games, starting 6, and averaged just 2.9 points in 2.7 rebounds per game.

In SEC play, he logged about 17.8 minutes per contest.

The moves come amid roster uncertainty for the game cocks.

Coach Lamont Paris is back for fifth season after guiding the team to the NCAA tournament

in 2024.

But the last two years brought sub-500 records and only six conference wins combined.

Earlier, junior forward Elijah Strong became the first to leave, followed by guard Eli Ellis

and forward Jordan Butler on Monday.

At least six players out of eligibility and five others still undecided on their futures.

With more announcements likely ahead, South Carolina faces a busy rebuild as the portal

window approaches.
