Stars Steal Win, Climb Division Standings

The Dallas stars picked up a crucial 2-1 shootout victory over the Colorado Avalanche on Wednesday

Jason Robertson scored the only regulation goal for Dallas, while Wyatt Johnston sealed

the win in the shootout.

Jake Oeddinger stopped 33 of 34 shots to backstop the stars, who moved one point closer to

the Central Division lead.

Oeddinger has been lights out lately, riding a 12 win, no loss, one tie streak since late

January, was strong save numbers.

He stood tall against Colorado's heavy shot volume, keeping Dallas in it despite the

Avalanche controlling much of the play.

The stars improved to three out of four points against their rivals this season.

Coaches and players agree Oeddinger was the standout, turning the tide in a tight battle.

Both teams felt each other out early, but Dallas ramped up in the third period in overtime.

Even without key players, the stars showed grit, stealing two points from the better

team on the night.

In the standings, Dallas sits just two points behind Colorado, despite playing fewer games,

with one more head to head match up ahead.

They blocked in at least second place, six points clear of Minnesota.

Winning the division could mean an easier first round playoff match up against the wildcar

team like Seattle or Los Angeles.

Up next, the stars face Minnesota on Saturday afternoon, then host Vegas on Sunday night.
