This hockey team.
So I wrote a big thing about why Johnston today, or we could complain about last night's hockey team hockey game.
What should we do?
Our little kiss to Jack Hughes paid off boy. He really put on a show.
He was great.
Who is the other guy that's even tinier than him. They were making fun of his little baby stick.
I don't know, but the doubles are good, aren't they?
They are.
I mean, the little Jesper brat just skating a giant circle around the stars and scoring.
Are they so bad?
It's, yeah, it's surprising that I guess they got off to a good start.
Then they had a horrible middle of the season.
I remember playing well again.
Remember Jack Hughes cut himself at the team dinner with they were suggesting that I doubt this is true.
But they were suggesting he was doing the bit with his hand and a knife.
Is it Mumbly Pag or whatever? What do you call that?
Mumbly Pag.
I don't know.
Is that what you call it?
I don't know.
I didn't know there's a name for it.
So I was just going to show you by by my meaner by by acting out the the charades way of the the knife around the fingers.
There's a name for that game.
I don't know, but everyone.
Every guy knows what you're talking about, though, because everyone has seen somebody play it or play them play it themselves.
Mumbly Pag is is with a pocket knife, I guess.
But it's also called five finger filet, four fingers, we hand or stab scotch.
Okay.
What movie?
There were two movies it made that famous, right?
Five finger filet sounds pretty dope.
Didn't Jeff Goldblum do that in the fly, like going a hundred miles an hour?
Sounds good to me.
Remember the Chuck Norris truck.
And then American psycho.
Did Christian Bale do that too?
I can't remember, but I'm pretty I'm almost positive Jeff Goldblum when he got the powers of the fly.
Okay.
Like they sped the camera up and he was just doing it a million miles an hour.
All right.
The five finger filet is a popular trope featuring a character rapidly stabbing a knife between their fingers that is famously seen in aliens performed by Bishop.
As well as boardwalk empire, his Jimmy Darmity plays this ever.
Maybe you're thinking of the Android and he challenges aliens.
He challenges Al Capone in a season one episode of boardwalk empire.
Huh.
I don't have much else on that.
But anyway, Jack Hughes back to healthy.
We don't know if that's how he heard his hand, but that's at least the funny thing they say online.
And he's back to looking like he was ready to score a gold medal goal last night.
And the stars worked really hard multiple times to get back in that game.
They did.
They just couldn't get back to level.
Yeah.
And I don't know.
I mean, there's there's a number of ways to look at it.
The easiest one is to freak out because they have now basically played a bad week of hockey.
And you don't want these things to grow into bad habits.
But I will say it is notable in these last couple of games that the defense has now gone back.
And we don't know.
Obviously the coaching staff might have some better theories on this.
We are taking big chunks of the season, but what was great about the last month and a half as the stars
had really, really suppressed high danger chances against where if you were getting shots against the stars.
They were from distance.
They were not very dangerous.
They were easy to deal with.
And now these last couple games, especially these two home games against Vegas and New Jersey.
It is really, really poor defense and really good defensemen are looking either tired or out to lunch.
Like I said, Miro has played an awful couple games.
Tyler Myers looked really bad last night.
Yeah, I was going to ask you, how do you grade Tyler Myers since he's been acquired?
I thought he's been awesome at in zone defense.
However, I do think transition defense is the issue where you get from your attacking blue line all the way back into in front of your goal.
That requires foot speed.
That requires real confident reads and you're skating.
They always talk about gap, which means in hockey, good defense means there's not all sorts of space between you and the puck.
You are maintaining a high line to use soccer.
You're up against the attack and then you only seed ground when it's necessary as opposed to leaving a giant space.
For them to pass back and forth and to gain speed through the neutral zone.
So anyway, that is where he struggles.
That's not been apparent for much of his time here with the stars.
They sat him on Sunday against Vegas.
So he had nothing to do with that game and then played him again last night.
And I almost just wonder if they had played in so many quote playoff games against Colorado and Minnesota and so forth.
Now that they played in this track meet against New Jersey, if it was such a stylistic change that maybe that's something he's not going to be as good at.
Luckily, they're going to play playoff hockey in the playoffs and it will be far less transition.
But overall, I'm thrilled with Tyler Myers.
Who was the bro that who was the bro that did the keystone cops skate around the entire team twice and score the goal?
That's Jesper Brett and he's he's tiny stick guy.
Oh, is he okay?
Well, that's that's a Swedish player that has played his entire career in New Jersey.
He seriously looks like he's playing with a child stick.
Well, I wasn't super.
I mean, I like you just need to put his stick up against Tyler Meyer stick.
Yeah, Tyler Myers probably has a stick that's twice as large.
Jesper is a guy I just not that familiar with, but boy, is he impressive when you stop and watch him.
I just don't watch the doubles play much and when I do, I'm fixated on on Jack Hughes, I guess.
But yeah, Jesper made the entire stars look real silly.
He skates around Sam steel and Sam's looking like expo out there at the line.
But don't do that to Sam.
Well, then he dives down around Esselandell and Essel looks like me defending, I suppose, and he just dances both those guys.
And so Audra gets pulled and I'm not saying Audra look great last night.
But you'll find goalies don't look great when you just lit dudes skate all the way in like they're in a shootout and just have their way with a goalie.
Like these guys are good.
And Dismith played great in relief.
Yes, he did.
But there were a couple of occasions where it's unreal chance after unreal chance.
And finally, he just can't stop them all.
That's right.
That was the that was the fifth goal.
Yeah.
Yes.
He stopped like four in a row.
Whether it's like Josh is going crazy and then just boom.
Yeah. And you know, they they had they had so many chances to get it to four four.
And it just didn't work out for them.
I want to I want to see if you know, since we're already a little behind here, I just want to see what the height.
Okay.
Okay.
I just wanted to see what the high danger chances were last night overall.
And the answer is at five on five New Jersey 11 Dallas six.
So and and by the way of the 11 10 were in the first two periods.
So all that does match the eye test.
So do better stars as they hit the road and play the islanders tomorrow night.
Oh, we got a short show tomorrow night.
Don't we?
Okay.
Six.
