Okay, so we said this in the why today doesn't suck RIP Monty, where today is the 32nd anniversary of Fox on the NFL on Fox, which at the time was such a huge deal, because Fox was barely even a network. Yeah, they had the Simpsons and what else did they have? Was married with children still married with children? Was that still going? Yeah, okay. But very bad TV maybe they were kind of a joke, although we love the Simpsons, but that's really all I watched on there and then Rupert Murdock threw down and got the NFL and everything changed.

1:05And this shocked me. One of those old time football accounts that I follow online posted this and it is the opening of Fox on NFL NFL. I'm just kind of what I'm doing. I'm already on vacation right now. Dude, it is a three day vacation. It is so Friday. Yeah. There's no Bob here to keep us in line. Yeah, he does a great job of that, Dundee. So anyway, this was the original intro of the NFL on Fox 32 years ago today. And it's the same song. This is it. Today the curtain opens on a new era. Football has mess coverage and it's finest. The NFL on Fox. Randall the warrior returns to the evening while New York's Dave Brown gets his first meal taste of NFL combat.

But the battering ram Jerome Venice can dish out some punishment of his own. After five years away from the game, Barry Switzer winds up with Jimmy's old toys. But Pittsburgh wants to steal the half of his fun and to boot they have a fairy of their own. Now from our studios in Hollywood, California, it's time for Fox NFL Sunday.

3:09First off, the quality of that. Yeah, I can't. I was perfect. I can't believe how much they nailed it. Just first time out of the gate. I mean, we all heard that. We're probably all sitting there staring at the TV. I mean, dude, we are. Yeah, because nobody knew what to expect because because they got the NFC from CBS. Yeah. CBS was out of the football business for a while. And nobody knew what the presentation was going to look like. We're all a little nervous. But I mean, you think about how much everything has changed through the years and every sport. I know that NBC just brought back the the basketball theme, the John Tash theme, you know, that they use forever and it's it's but that's an instant classic. I know it's on NFL theme. It really is, but at the time, NFL on Fox, you made me do it. I know. Did we know that at the time? No, do we were like, whoa, what a banger, man. I don't know. It's pretty good. And how about a walk down memory lane with all the

4:10intros, all those names? Yes. It's like playing Madden 94 like buddy Ryan with with Arizona. Forgotten all about that. I'd forgotten about Jerome Betis being a ram because to me, he's a stealer. Like that's really weird. And who is when they said Barry Switzer now has Jimmy's toys, but the Steelers have a berry of their own. Very foster. And I forgot about Barry Foster. Yeah. Barry bananas foster. Yeah. And you Scott Mitchell is the quarterback for the lions. You also got to remember that that was the first weekend that we ever saw the Fox box. That before Fox took over the NFL, you had to wait for a commercial break to see what the score was. That's right. Because it wasn't always on the screen. That was like a huge innovation to just put the score in the corner of the screen. Wow. We were such idiots. No, we were. We totally were.

5:18And I can't remember what I saw it on. It might have been the Madden documentary when you talked about going from CBS to Fox. But you and trying to legitimize the Fox network by getting the NFL and Rupert Murdoch just admitting that this was a loss leader that he was going to lose his ass on the NFL. But it did make people take notice and it got them all kinds of affiliates because people wanted to carry the NFL. So that suddenly they were in every market. Which is so weird. They were just in a handful. I mean affiliates. Like just terms that don't really exist anymore. You know, but yeah, like I always wondered if if or how long do you think it took Fox to become a legitimate network with legitimate shows that people and not just cartoons and Tracy Olman and

6:20Simpsons and stuff like that and married with children was as popular as we thought it was. It was kind of a joke in the industry. You know, I mean, it was always geared towards kids because you had 21 jump street and Beverly Hills 90210 and Melrose Place. But I think all of those kind of coincided with the NFL on Fox. Yeah. Like Melrose Place was still cooking hard. Wasn't it at that point? And 90210. Oh, oh, well, whatever. 32 years ago, two day, that song debuted as the official. I know, I know. It's so cool. Who did that? And what's the, I wouldn't you loved it? Listen to the like five other options that that they chose that one and said. Yeah, yeah, that's got to be out there. You know, they pitched other ones. Yes. Of course they did. All right. Big day today. It is Friday. We're going to launch you into the holiday weekend and style. We promise you that we have killer producing. We're going to do just the sip for our own selves today. They left it behind again. Dude, I don't know. I'm just saying can someone bring us beer?

7:25Landau, have you gone in there and you're in my fridge? Do you really? That's going to be a drop sometimes. You really do? Yeah, I got beer. I go good. So this is no way we have we we'll start. We'll start at like 530. Yeah, not next to killer. We have a code that we live by. And the code says between 530 and 6. But this is usually 6, but a holiday weekend, we make an exception. Yeah. But this is like when we used to during COVID. So because no one you couldn't go anywhere. And so we rotated bringing up beers like six pack of beers every Friday. And we would crack them on the air like at six o'clock or 530 or something like that. And it kind of became our thing. Like who's bringing who's turn is it or whatever? So you've got your upper with your coffee right there. Oh, I know. And then you're going to get your your slow down and downer. Just one little smooth beer buzz. I mean, I might wash down a lude.
