I actually studied it, it's going down the rabbit hole, good thing usually or can it be a bad thing? Yeah, it depends what's going on, man, you know, before we hop into it, before we learn,

2:00All right. Sitting when you said you wanted to learn about dew point, man, we'll get into it, man, I think I do. I think I do. I'm just, I mean, I've been here and growers, you know, who's just basically lately talking more about where did the 60, 60 come from looking into it? Like it was it because of like, what's the science with it? Is this the best way, 60, 60 for 10 days plus to get your stuff dry? You know? I do. What are you thinking about? Do this. The two controls I have are temperature and humidity. So all right, do it around this, man, you know, around 60 percent, 60 degrees. I mean, it does, it works. But in having one of these machines and being able to dry and cure in different, different temperatures and different humidities where, where I'm at now, it really does get, get you to understand or get you to think about that it's really, when we're talking about

3:03plants, we talk about BPD, right, made for pressure deficit, yep. And that is the amount there's vapor pressure pushing on the plant. And if there's too much, it can't off gas or breathe. So if you leave a deficit, the right amount of deficit, the plant gets to off gas, just the exact right amount, right? Too big of a deficit. It goes, goes away too fast, right? Now what about though, for BPD for drying, they're actually found a BPD chart for drying. I don't know if you can throw this up here, Granbo, which tells me, if I'm falling in the 60, 60 rule, basically, you want to be in a BPD of 0.8 and 1, that's your BPD ideal for drying. So if I'm at 60%, you go ahead, hang on real quick, we just take a step back just because if people don't know what BPD is, it is a needs explanation. So you've got vapor pressure, right? We can feel when it's super humid, you can feel the vapor in the air, right?

4:06If you're pushing it against our skin, well, it won't let, when it's super humid, it won't let what's it called, you'd be able to sweat and kind of off gas that sweat, right? So it just stays on you all sticky, right? Right. Well, if that's what happens with the plant, if that's how you get molds and mildews and stuff, the idea with the plant is they're supposed to be moisture coming up from the roots and out the, and out the stomata of the plant. So if you clog that by putting too much vapor pressure on there, then the plant can't off gas and go through it's, you know, it's transpiration and all that. So the idea is you leave a little bit of a deficit, a vapor pressure deficit so that it's allowed to off gas and the more deficit you give it, the faster it's gone there, well, I like doing this. The faster it is going to off gas and leave the plant. So there's a sweet spot for it in growing, it has to do with the stomata being open

5:06and the amount of moisture that can go up the plant tissue. This is a little bit different because there's no, you know, it's just straight up about the vapor pressure, right? There's no replenishing, there's no life here. Yeah. And the numbers are what's interesting on that chart. If I was following and saying, okay, I should be at 60% humidity, that chart tells me that my temperature, if I want to be at 0.8 to 1VPD, I should be between 64 to 69 Fahrenheit, which doesn't follow the 6060 rule, and we're going to get into some of these drying machines are drying at a warmer temp quicker. And I'm starting to understand that that's a better scenario, potentially without having something hanging for too long in my opinion. All right. Did everybody smoke, man, are we ready to get into it? Deep. Now, you know what? It's really easy to understand if somebody explains it to you, I guess, but relative humidity, right? Granbo is the first word there.

6:07Relative? Relative. It is relative to what? The temperature. Yeah. It's relative to the temperature. So as soon as your temperature changes, your relative humidity changes. Now that's where dew point is different. Dew point just straight up measures the amount of moisture that is in the air. You know, so it's a measurement of the amount of it's not dependent on, I guess it does change with temperature, but it's different than the relative humidity. So it's a lot more, it's a lot better of a way to, as opposed to trying to judge or trying to dry on 60, 60, if you can dry according to dew point, then you're really capturing and really understanding exactly how much moisture is in the air. It kind of, of course, that moisture is going to lay on the plant material. So it's kind of like a vapor pressure, it is a vapor pressure thing. But it's, yeah, I think that's a much better way to look at it than temperature and humidity.

7:13Because typically don't have, and I feel like you should tell me about the wet bulb. Will that fit in here somewhere? It's a wet bulb. Grandpa, that's something you would know what it is, man. Oh, yeah, don't, don't look it up on urban dictionary. We'll just say that. I got a I got a quote Ohio turp queen. Like it's all about the, the dew point. Yeah. Not bad girl, not bad. Yeah, chats over here. Real did you see dot com slash a TV, the chat's hanging out, dropping all the, sir, coffee lot showing his chart. Yeah, okay. So there you go. So temperature and humidity, VP damn. Come on, man. Oh, that's your drying tent, right? So that's 0.7 BBD. That's low, man. That's low. Almost that 0.8. No, that's not horrible. Yeah, as long as you're not all plants, it will know for if it's a drying environment. Yeah, you want to be between that point A and that one.

8:14Um, I wanted to give like, you know, for me, I recently, I'm lowered my humidity. If I'm M, if I am not drying in the canter, I'm in my tent, because I sometimes will go in my space or my space under here, which is kind of pain in the ass, because I got to run a heater a little bit or maybe I got to run a decommittive fire, I got to mess with the environment, but I'm bringing it down to 55%. I get paranoid of having my stuff go for our past 10 days. I don't know if you have had any issues, but there is more or potential. The higher you go up, I've heard some people say it's almost okay. It's 65% humidity dry and go longer, but you put your butt at risk, I believe, for some potential molds, right? Man, I guess I got to see what's going on in mind. Hang on, you guys stay. I'm going to see what's going on in a canter. I'm going to take the 4% tube one, all right? All right. Well, your Scotty is also in Colorado with 68 degrees Fahrenheit. So somehow that's 68 degrees and still doing an amazing job of it's actually just storing

9:14and curing the weed right now. But man, it does change. It's relative to the humidity is relative to temperature. So as long as you're changing those and then your dew point is about yeah, there you go. Yeah, there you go. How much you can hold, right? How much moisture the air can hold? So those things are relative to each other, which kind of is a problem, right? Yeah, it can be a problem. But I want to back up a little bit on some of the basics too. As long as we're talking dry and curing, when people are giving you time frames and saying, hey, you know, you should hang for at least 10 days or hang for at least two weeks. You know, where you at and what's your environment? Colorado, if you're not fully controlling it. For example, Colorado, if Scotty's drying in a growth tent and he's using an inline fan for like replacement air, that's going to be dry as hell. And you're going to get a lot of movement up and down. So it could go quicker, could go longer. Do you hang whole branches? Do you hang whole plants? Do you hang chopped up pieces of nut?

10:15We don't really recommend doing that. I don't know any, but do you as far as actually trimming the flower off of the branch? All my flowers stays on branch in the drying situation. I had to do it, man. When you put it in the countertrol, when you put it in these machines, you were supposed to cut it off the stem. It is very counterintuitive. I haven't seen a shout out the chat Westport. He's got the v-cur, and I seen he's like, didn't want to lay the buds down because he didn't want to like, bruise, you know, like he just wanted them to be perfect, picture perfect. But so he like literally placed them like a lollipops each bud on there. I got a shout out to my boy Solar Island over here. He's dropping it down. That's that unbound water. You're trying to get rid of it. Bound water can't get to mold and fungus. Bound water can. You went bound water. I thought I was going deep with dew point. I learned that's unbound water. It was the countertrol, guys. We had, if you guys missed it, there was an episode we did. About a month and a half ago with those guys,

11:15then yeah, dropping that unstructured water and all that. Yeah, the science, baby. Yeah, you know what they told me is that when you try to can, wow, wait. Oh, wait, man, I'm getting too deep into the paint, dude. 15:20Still tense, it's probably, you know, a two by four, even a two by two. It's your most affordable go-to solution, right? What do you need? You need inline fan and controller, basically, so you can set your parameters in there. What, what all controls do you use? Do you have to use a humidifier as well on your tent? Let's do the math really quick. I'm telling you, man. Graham, but you got to Canada troll up, right? Yeah. Yeah, they've got these machines. I guess these folks are great, man. They support us. They gave us machines. I love them. There's other machines out there. But what did they around the thousand bucks? They started at $1,200 a month. $1,200 for the C++? Yeah. So I was tripped out by that. You know, I was, I was like, dude, I can't recommend $1,200 for a giant, get a drying tent for what? $600, $700 bucks? What's in that? With your equipment. Unless you already have it, yeah. I need the controller. I need the controller. And I need some kind of dehumidifier, right?

16:21I guess it depends where you're at, though. You know, by the time you put everything together, if you're putting $6, $700 together for a drying tent, oh, you know, it was a worse part about it is. I did that. I had a freaking condition. This entire room. I'm in this giant, pretty decent sized studio. I would either have to run the heat in the winter or the air conditioner in the summer to make this a long room, this long room, just kind of tolerable. That's expensive, man. Well, also when you say that, in taking one, so like everybody has different parameters, Scott is in Colorado and the winter strides hell right now. So if he's using a controller to set a certain VPD or set points with temporary humidity, and then once you put your flowers in there at first, they're pretty damn wet. That's when you have the most humidity. When you first chop your plant and put them in, you're going to have that exhaust fan coming on or off in the knot. And you're going to see if you're looking at your chart, just peaks and valleys, peaks and valleys. And that's not good. You want steady vapor pressure. The peaks and valleys can, you know,

17:22even within a few points, you know, it's not going to ruin a crop, but it does affect the trichomes, right? It can. Don't, what did they say? Did a little bit of expansion and contraction can rupture the trichomes. You know my saying, right, Scott? Don't rupture the trichome. No, it reeks because it's leaks. It's leaking because it's leaking. Yeah. I want to steal it. Can I buy that for me, Grimbo? It's all yours, baby. It's open source. Yeah. When that is, does the cantotrol contain the stink? Yes. That is another thing, all right? When you have a tent that's exhausting or not even exhausting all the time, just at any, even if you're climate controlling it. It's offensive, man. Like people will say stuff. I tested this out particularly because my mother-in-law, I have to run when she comes to visit. If I'm drying, I have to run a carbon filter in my crawlspace when I was in there.

18:23I put the cantrol in the kitchen, like the most busiest spot of the house. It looks great in there. Matches my stainless steel fridge. And yeah, it's awesome. There is zero smell issue with it. That is really good as well as it's a bit smaller. That's another advantage. Like it's compact compared to having a two by four tents set up in your space. So I need a cantotrol the size of a two by four tent, hanging on a line, man. I was about to, I'd say two three big plants, something like that. I don't think they're going to call it. And I don't do, I'd say, up to a four by four, a five by five, potentially 2.5 pounds wet. They're working on one that's the size of a fridge though. That's going to be sweet. I can't wait to have like a double door. Just stack your need. That's a flex. I called them this morning. I asked them to help me make sure that I wasn't going to embarrass myself talking about. And they had some interesting stuff to say. Because I was like, yo, it's just, and by the way, the beaker, I shout out to Ask Chad Westport.

19:24Maybe he's in the chat. But he loves his beaker. He's learning how to work that. I've been working the Cantertrol. But I asked them. I said, how does beaker has a compressor that turns on and off? I asked how the Cantertrol guys do it. Because it doesn't have a compressor. And I should have written it down. It's some kind of technology that they have that provides a little bit of cooling. And it's just a compressor list. I guess, I don't know if it's really an air conditioner. But they don't use a compressor. And what they were seeing is their whole technology. They like that. They're in the cheese and cigars, aren't they? Like, this is just a little curing meat, shashuterie type stuff. What did you call it? I call it shashuterie. Sharks are killing me, yeah. I'm all excited to tell you that, dude. But anyway, they're, uh, so they have some padded, panted technology. And they are able to separate. And when it comes to dew point,

20:25remember dew point is humidity and temperature. Yeah, so they're able to separate it. So they're reading the dew point. And then they can either turn on to reduce temperature or to reduce humidity. So it's an either thing. And that's where their technology is. That keeps anything from spike. And remember, you were talking about spikes, you know, temperature going up and down, humidity going up and down. When you're using the same device, you're using basically, I'm thinking of a machine. You're using basically a compressor to control both of those. A dehumidifier is just an air conditioner that doesn't warm the air up a little bit before it goes back and, back and recirculates. But all it's doing is running that air, the warm air over cool coils and getting condensation out of it. So whether you've got high temperature or high humidity, it's that same machine, you know, the same compressor is turning on and it does get them battling each other

21:25because remember, once you change temperature, you change relative humidity, right? Because relative humidity. The same thing growers struggle with, right? You know, as far as anything with a compressor, you know, I have a commercial dehumidifier in my grow room. It's not meant. It's meant to just take care of, you know, a spill or a product. Just get rid of it and you'll see if you look at the graph from my Paul's Pro that it does flex, there's nothing I can do about it because that compressor can't just, it can only cycle so much before you have an issue. So it can't have the same steady, same as my AC. It keeps my grow room within, you know, parameters that work just fine for growing dank. But man, it's, yeah, it's a little bit different than when you're having a drying machine, have those fluctuations. Yes, Grandpa, can we show some of my results?
