I'm your host Andrew Russell and welcome to evening prayer. Before we begin our time together let's spend a few moments in silence. Oh worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness let the whole earth stand in all of him. Let us humbly confess our sins to Almighty God. Almighty and most merciful Father we have aired and strayed from your ways like lost sheep. We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts. We have offended against your holy laws. We have left undone those things which we ought to have done and we have done those things which we ought not to have done and apart

1:01from your grace there is no health in us. O Lord have mercy upon us. Spare all those who confess their faults. Restore all those who are penitent according to your promises declared to all people in Christ Jesus our Lord and grant almost merciful Father for His sake that we may now live a godly righteous and sober life to the glory of your holy name Amen. Grant to your faithful people merciful Lord pardon and peace that we may be cleansed from all our sins and serve you with a quiet mind through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. O Lord open our lips and our mouth shall proclaim your praise. O God make speed to save us. O Lord make haste to help us. Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit as it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be world without end. Amen. Praise the Lord. The Lord's name be praised.

2:04O glad some light pure brightness of the ever living Father in heaven. O Jesus Christ holy and blessed. Now as we come to the setting of the Son and our eyes behold the Vesper light we sing your praises O God Father Son and Holy Spirit you are worthy at all times to be praised by happy voices O Son of God O giver of life and to be glorified through all the worlds. The Psalm appointed for this evening is Psalm 31. In you O Lord have I put my trust let me never be put to confusion deliver me in your righteousness bow down your ear to me make haste to deliver me and be my strong rock and house of defense that you may save me for you are my strong rock and my castle be also my guide and lead me for your

3:10namesake. Draw me out of the net that they have laid secretly for me for you are my strength. Into your hands I commend my spirit for you have redeemed me O Lord O God of truth. I have hated those who hold to worthless vanities and my trust has been in the Lord. I will be glad and rejoice in your mercy for you have considered my trouble and have known my soul in adversities. You have not shut me up in the hand of the enemy but have set my feet where they may walk at liberty. Have mercy upon me O Lord for I am in trouble. My eye is consumed with heaviness and also my soul and my body. For my life has grown old with heaviness and my years with mourning. My strength fails me because of my

4:12iniquity and my bones are consumed. I have become a reproof among all my enemies but especially among my neighbors. My acquaintances are afraid of me and those who see me in the street shrink from me. I am utterly forgotten as a dead man out of mind. I have become like a broken vessel for I have heard the whispering of the multitude and fear is on every side while they conspire together against me and take their counsel to take away my life. But my hope has been in you O Lord. I have said you are my God. My time is in your hand. Deliver me from the hand of my enemies and from those who persecute me. Show your servant the light of your countenance and save me for your mercy sake. Let me not be confounded

5:15O Lord for I have called upon you. Let the ungodly be put to confusion and be put to silence in the grave. Let the lying lips be put to silence which cruelly, disdainfully and despitefully speak against the righteous. O how plentiful is your goodness which you have laid up for those who fear you and which you have prepared for those who put their trust in you even before the children of men. You hide them in the secret place of your presence from those who conspire against them. You keep them in your refuge from the strife of tongues. Thanks be to the Lord for he has shown me marvelously great kindness in a strong city. But when I was afraid I said in my haste I am cast out of the sight of your eyes. Nevertheless you heard the voice of my prayer when I cried unto you.

6:20O love the Lord, all you his saints, for the Lord preserves those who are faithful and plentiously repays the proud. Be strong and he shall establish your heart all you that put your trust in the Lord. Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit as it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be world without end. Amen. A reading from the prophet Nehum beginning with the first chapter, the first verse. An oracle concerning Nineveh, the book of the vision of Nehum of Elkosh. The Lord is a jealous and avenging God. The Lord is avenging and wrathful. The Lord takes vengeance on his adversaries and keeps wrath for his enemies. The Lord is slow to anger and great in power and the Lord will by no means clear the guilty.

7:27His way is in whirlwind and storm and the clouds are the dust of his feet. He rebukes the sea and makes it dry. He dries up all the rivers, bishon and caramel wither. The bloom of Lebanon withers. The mountains quake before him. The hills melt. The earth heaves before him. The world and all who dwell in it. Who can stand before his indignation? Who can endure the heat of his anger? His wrath is poured out like fire and the rocks are broken into pieces by him. The Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble. He knows those who take refuge in him. But with an overflowing flood, he will make a complete end of the adversaries and will pursue his enemies into darkness. What do you plot against the Lord? He will make a

8:33complete end. Trouble will not rise up a second time. For they are like entangled thorns like drunkards as they drink. They are consumed like stubble fully dried. From you came one who plotted evil against the Lord, a worthless counselor. Thus says the Lord, though they are at full strength and many, they will be cut down and pass away. Though I have afflicted you, I will afflict you no more. And now I will break his yoke from off you and will burst your bonds apart. The Lord has given commandment about you. No more shall your name be perpetuated. From the house of your gods, I will cut off the carved image and the metal image. I will make your grave for you are vile. Behold, upon the mountains, the feet of him who brings good news, who

9:39publishes peace. Keep your feasts, O Judah, fulfill your vows. For never again shall the worthless pass through you. He is utterly cut off. The Word of the Lord, thanks be to God. My soul magnifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior. For he has regarded the loathingness of his handmaiden. For behold, from now on, all generations will call me blessed. For he that is mighty has magnified me and holy is his name. And his mercy is on those who fear him throughout all generations. He has shown the strength of his arm. He has scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts. He has brought down the mighty from their thrones and has exalted the humble in meek. He has filled the hungry with good

A reading from the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew beginning with the ninth chapter, the 18th verse. While he was saying these things to them, behold, a ruler came in and knelt before him, saying, My daughter has just died, but come and lay your hand on her and she will live. And Jesus rose and followed him with his disciples. And behold, a woman who had suffered from a discharge

11:47of blood for twelve years came up behind him and touched the fringe of his garment. For she said to herself, If I only touch his garment, I will be made well. Jesus turned and seeing her, he said, Take heart, daughter, your faith has made you well. And instantly the woman was made well. And when Jesus came to the ruler's house and saw the flute players and the crowd making a commotion, he said, Go away for the girl is not dead, but sleeping. And they laughed at him. But when the crowd had been put outside, he went in and took her by the hand and the girl arose. And the report of this went through all that district. And as Jesus passed on from there, two blind men followed him, crying aloud, have mercy on us, son of David. When

12:49he entered the house, the blind men came to him and Jesus said to them, Do you believe that I am able to do this? They said to him, Yes, Lord. Then he touched their eyes, saying, according to your faith, be it done to you. And their eyes were opened. And Jesus sternly warned them, see that no one knows about it. But they went away and spread his fame through all that district. As they were going away, behold, a demon oppressed man who was mute was brought to him. And when the demon had been cast out, the mute man spoke. And the crowds marveled, saying, Never was anything like this seen in Israel. But the Pharisees said, He casts out demons by the Prince of Demons. The word of the Lord, thanks be to God. Lord, now let your servant depart in peace, according to your

Now let us confess our faith in the words of the Apostles Creed. I believe in God, the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended to the dead. On the third day, He rose again. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit,

15:03the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen. The Lord be with you and with your Spirit. Let us pray. Lord have mercy upon us. Christ have mercy upon us. Lord have mercy upon us. Our Father, who art in heaven, how it would be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen. O Lord, show your mercy upon us and grant us your salvation. O Lord, guide those who govern us

16:07and lead us in the way of justice and truth. Clothe your ministers with righteousness and let your people sing with joy. O Lord, save your people and bless your inheritance. Give peace in our time, O Lord, and defend us by your mighty power. Let not the needy, O Lord, be forgotten, nor the hope of the poor be taken away. Create in us clean hearts, O God, and take not your Holy Spirit from us. O Lord, God grant your people grace to withstand the temptations of the world, the flesh, and the devil, and with pure hearts and minds to follow you, the only God, through Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with you in the Holy Spirit. One God, now and forever. Amen. Almighty and everlasting God, you called your servant Alexander Crumel to preach the gospel to the people of Liberia. Raise up in this and every land, evangelists, and heralds of your kingdom,

17:15that your church may proclaim the unsurczable riches of our Savior, Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with you in the Holy Spirit. One God, now and forever. Amen. Lord Jesus, stay with us for evening is at hand and the day is past. Be our companion in the way, Kindle our hearts and awaken hope that we may know you as you are revealed in scripture and the breaking of bread. Grant this for the sake of your love. Amen. Keep watch, dear Lord, with those who work or watch or weep this night and give your angels charge over those who sleep. Tend the sick, Lord Christ. Give rest to the weary. Bless the dying, soothe the suffering, pity the afflicted, shield the joyous, and all for your love's sake.

Almighty God, Father of all mercies, we, your unworthy servants, give you humble thanks for all your goodness and loving kindness to us and to all whom you have made. We bless you for our creation, preservation, and all the blessings of this life, but above all for

19:18your immeasurable love and the redemption of the world by our Lord Jesus Christ, for the means of grace and for the hope of glory. And we pray, give us such an awareness of your mercies that with truly thankful hearts we may show forth your praise not only with our lips but in our lives, by giving up ourselves to your service and by walking before you in holiness and righteousness all our days through Jesus Christ our Lord to whom with you and the Holy Spirit be honor and glory throughout all ages. Amen. Almighty God, you have given us grace at this time with one accord to make our common supplications to you and you have promised through your well beloved son that when two or three are gathered together in his name, you will grant their requests. fulfill now, O Lord, our desires and petitions as may be best for us, granting us in this world knowledge of your truth and in the age to come life everlasting.
