Titans' Draft Strategy: Trading Down, Stacking Talent

On April 14th, the Tennessee Titans sit at the fourth overall pick in this year's NFL

draft, but trading down from there looks unlikely with no team.

Desperate enough to pay top dollar.

Their general manager, Mike Borgonzi, came in last year preaching a plan to snag 12 picks

in the top 100 over his first three seasons, so expect them to stay put up top and grab

the best player available.

That sets up a prime chance to trade down from the top of the second round, turning one

pick into multiple bites at this deep draft class.

Borgonzi's history screams wheeling and dealing on day two, and a few hungry teams could

bite.

Take to New York Jets, sporting the longest playoff drought across major North American

sports after the Buffalo Sabers ended theirs.

With two first rounders this year and more coming, they're not pinching pennies, they

want to jump for day two gems to build around their young core.

Maybe swapping their 44th pick in a future second.

Pittsburgh Steelers and Miami Dolphins are also in play.

Pittsburgh needs a future quarterback but won't reach early so they'd overpay from their

53rd pick and thirds to climb.

Miami, loaded with nearly a dozen selections, could consolidate for offensive line and receivers

to prop up a rookie signal caller or even former, Titan Malik Willis.

Whichever squad bites, it hands Tennessee extra ammo to rebuild fast, stacking talent

without forcing bad fits.
