Emergency responders were dispatched shortly after 4 p.m. Tuesday to a large home on the 22,700 block of Brooks

Upon arriving at the residential scene, responding officers located the toddler inside the residence and immediately initiated CPR before emergency medical crews rushed into a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead. Inside the residence, police discovered the child's mother suffering from injuries believed to be self-inflicted. She was transported to a regional hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Law enforcement stated that preliminary findings point to a domestic-related homicide. However, authorities have not publicly disclosed the specific cause of the toddler's death, released the mother's identity or confirmed if criminal charges have been filed. Adding to the mystery surrounding the scene, representatives from the Frankfurt Fire Protection District confirmed emergency personnel transported five people from the property shortly after police arrived. Authorities have not released details regarding the identities or medical conditions of the other three individuals, nor explained why emergency hospitalization was necessary.

In Ohio, 23-year-old McKenzie Shorilla has officially lost her final opportunity to appeal her murder conviction at the state level, following a high-speed collision featured in the popular Netflix documentary, The Crash. On Tuesday, September 1st, chief justice Sharon Kennedy at the Supreme Court of Ohio, issued an official ruling denying Shorilla's motion for reconsideration, effectively ending her state appeals process for the deadly July 2022 crash. Back in August 2023, Shorilla was convicted on 12 criminal counts, including murder, aggravated vehicular homicide, felonious assault, and drug possession.

4:06After intentionally accelerating her Toyota Camry, to speeds reaching 100 miles per hour before plowing directly into a brick building. The high-speed impact killed her 20-year-old boyfriend, Dominic Russo, and their 19-year-old friend, Davian Flanagan, both pronounced dead at the scene. Shorilla, who was 17 at the time, was found unconscious in the wreckage but survived. During her bench trial, the presiding judge described her as literal hell on wheels. She was sentenced to 15 years to life in prison. Following her conviction, Shorilla hired new defense attorneys who sought a new trial, arguing she suffered from a pre-existing medical condition that could have caused her to blackout while driving and claiming trial counsel was ineffective. However, her state appeal was rejected due to a procedural deadline error involving a leap year. Under Ohio law, defendants have a 365-day statutory clock to file a petition for post-conviction relief following transcript filings.

5:07Because 2024 was a leap year, the statutory deadline fell on October 23rd, 2024. Shorilla's legal team submitted the petition on October 24th, missing the deadline by exactly one day. The Ohio Supreme Court upheld the rejection as untimely. Shorilla's team has since filed a federal habeas corpus petition in US District Court, which remains pending. In Union Town, Pennsylvania, 30-year-old Tyler Green-Know faces severe felony charges after allegedly holding his ex-girlfriend, her young child, and her grandmother hostage during a terrifying three-day ordeal. According to an official statement from the Fayette County District Attorney's Office, Green-Know broke into his ex-girlfriend's home on Friday, August 28th, by climbing through a window, violating an active protection order. Over the next three days, Green-Know allegedly held all three occupants captive while physically assaulting both adult women. Prosecutor State Green-Know was enraged after learning his ex-girlfriend had been intimate with another man, threatening to murder the child

6:09and grandmother in front of his ex-girlfriend before taking her life as well. The situation escalated when Green-Know forced his ex-girlfriend to arrange a meeting with the other man. Green-Know forced the grandmother and child into the vehicle's trunk, hit in the back seat, and made his ex-girlfriend drive to the location. When the man entered the car, Green-Know attacked him. After the man escaped, Green-Know took the wheel and attempted to run him over multiple times before forcing his ex-girlfriend to file a false police report alleging sexual abuse against the man. The captives finally escaped on Monday when Green-Know left for work, allowing them to report the abuse to police. Green-Know now faces charges of kidnapping, aggravated assault, burglary, unlawful restraint, and terroristic threats.
