Ukraine wants to export weapons - while still fighting Russia

Ukraine has officially approved a legal mechanism to export its own weapons for the first time since Russia’s 2022 invasion, aiming to fund its domestic defense sector during a fifth year of fighting. The policy shift allows international allies to purchase battle-tested Ukrainian hardware directly from domestic manufacturers, reversing a total wartime ban on weapons exports.
This decision resolves a major financial paradox: Ukraine’s private and state-run defense sector is booming, yet the Ukrainian government lacks the funds to purchase everything its local factories can build.
