University of Michigan Faces Backlash Over No-Grade Policy

Join Jim and Greg for the Friday 3 Martini Lunch as they break down a disappointing July jobs report, the University of Michigan refusing to issue grades to first semester freshmen, the left's backwards approach to policing and prisons, and Mitch McConnell going home but not back to the U.S. Senate - at least not yet.

First, they wince as the July jobs report shows a loss of 23,000 positions and significant downward revisions for May and June. The economy is still in decent shape overall but job and GDP growth are clearly slowing. What are the solutions?

Next, they roll their eyes as the University of Michigan College of Literature, Science, and the Arts says freshmen will not get letter grades their first semester in order to help "curb the mental health crisis." The policy, which is set to begin in Fall 2027, will apply to all students. Jim and Greg wonder how we got this fragile.

Then, they react to Bernie Sanders wanting a much smaller prison population. Greg suggests the solution for that is for people to commit fewer crimes. Jim walks through arguments like "defund the police" and "abolish prisons," which socialists frequently embrace.

Finally, Kentucky Sen. Mitch McConnell says he is home but not yet ready to return to the U.S. Senate. Is he ever coming back?
