The Golden Knights head into Dallas facing a stars team that has won 11 of their last

12, making them the hottest team in the NHL right now.

Vegas meanwhile is searching for consistency and trying to avoid losing ground in the Pacific

Division in a game that looks lopsided on paper.

The only team in the NHL that appears to be able to cool down these Dallas stars in the

central division and in the league, it appears these days is the Colorado Avalanche, the

top of the stars last week in a shootout.

That was the only loss in 12 games for Dallas.

The stars have points now in 12 straight.

They did have that 10 game win streak and they've planted themselves firmly as a second

place team in the Western Conference tonight's game between VGK and the stars looks like

a mismatch.

You'll start off with a scoring differential plus 47 for Dallas plus nine for the VGK.

The Golden Knights must have given up scoring for Lent.

They are not scoring a lot of goals.

They come off of that loss of the Oilers, VGK is a team that seems to be reeling and tonight

they will need to contain the stars depth.

Their depth scoring, a lot depends on all four of the VGK lines.

They need to be in sync.

The Golden Knights have to win the special teams battle.

They can't chase the game.

They're going to have to get some good goal tending and most likely we will see Akira

Schmidt between the pipes for those golden nights.

I think I agree with everything except the last statement you made right there.

The Golden Knights at some point have to turn to Aiden Hill if he is going to be the

man at this stage.

He doesn't need to earn to be the number one goalie.

The Golden Knights need to make sure he is available to be set him up to be the number

one goalie.

He's a better way to put this right now.

If this Golden Knights team is going to make a run the playoffs, Hill will be the starter.

You know what you have in Akira Schmidt, you know he's going to be a semi-reliable backstop

and not going to steal any games.

Aiden Hill is paid as number one goal tender and needs to be treated as such.

I'm not saying I like any of this.

I'm not saying it makes me feel good by any means.

To get Aiden Hill back into the group of things, he's got to start stringing two, three

and four starts together because come playoff time.

It's every other day just like it is now for the next month and stars make a couple

nice depth pieces, Tyler Miles, Myers and Mike Bunting and the equation.

They had a better trade deadline than the Vegas Golden Knights did.

Tyler Myers, we talked about him because he was a free agent at the deadline and big defense

management, six, eight Tyler Mays, the defenseman from Vancouver.

The stars have been without, they're doing this all without Miko Rantonin, Jim Nils says

that he won't begin skating again for over a week.

Radik Fawkska is out.

He and Rantonin both injured in those Olympic games and then I was watching the game on Saturday

and Ruppet Hints, injured, got sleuth, footed or would have you there.

In a battle, in a battle with Nathan McKinnon last week and Hints had just come back off

of the injured list, injured reserve.

He was missing a week due to illness, comes back one game, hyper extended leg injury and

this is a team that's doing it with some minus and pretty good pieces right there.

Yeah, and that's the thing.

The Golden Knights got through the Olympics theoretically without sustaining an injury,

although an argument can be made, maybe something happened to Mark Stone that snowballed a

little bit once the season resumed, we won't know that, so that's simply speculation.

The stars have the depth to be without Miko Rantonin, possibly Ruppet Hints, we'll see

how that shakes out, et cetera, et cetera.

Shifting at the goal tending, Jake Otinger, only an eight, nine, seven, save per set.

I thought that was a little bit odd for us at the two at two, seven, oh, goals against

in 25, 10 and five.

Exactly.

So the stars are playing some good defense in front of him and this is where it's nice

to have things clicking in front of a goal tender as the goal tender works things out.

Aiden Hill could certainly be the beneficiary of a better defense in front of him as well.

Casey Dismith, this is probably the difference maker in the star's season or appearances

in a two to eight with a nine, one, two, save per set.

So that's what it's like to have at least one goalie that can carry the mail and have

someone who come in behind him and really do a great job.

This is where the golden lights, of course, have been lacking in it.

Oh, I thought we were going to get another titanic reference or something there for the

VGK.

Jake Otinger, you spoke about him.

He had won eight straight games before that shootout lost to Colorado, 801 and again,

they're getting it done there between the pipes.

I did allude to special teams, one of the best on the power play.

So one of the keys tonight will be for both teams to stay out of the box.

Although VGK has a sputter there, minus Mark Stone on the power play unit.

And Wyatt Johnson already beat Mike Modano's power play goal record.

He has 21 power play goals, 21 Chris.

That's their, that's their Pavel Dorifiovo over there.

Wyatt Johnson, great player, 67.63 games.

What is he up to?

He's got to be at least 22 by now.

He's been in the league, I think, since, since 22, 23, 21, 22.

So certainly finding his way, just kind of peaking down, I mean, depth, right?

Look down the middle, right?

Wyatt, Rubey, hence hopefully, he comes back, Matt, the Shane,

now we're working on the player, he's not back tonight.

Fair enough.

Sam Steele, another, you know, I mean, you got good depth down the middle here.

Mero Hayeskin, and it has 53 points in 61 games.

Thomas Harley, 27 points, looking at the fence as the Lindell, 25 points.

So you're getting people chipping in up and down this lineup.

And as it sits right now, I mean, they might match in the, in one of the first,

in the second round, Dallas and Colorado, potentially.

And it's unfortunate for, for the central and this playoff system,

because whoever does advance out of the Pacific side of this bracket,

you know, you get, you get a battle tested avalanche or stars team likely,

which, you know, could make the path easier to the cup final for the Pacific,

which is a, it's a laughing stock.

But in the same breath, that's, that's what the format is.

So be it.

Jason Robertson, 74 points to lead the stars.

The guy that was shunned by, they were talking about trading him, Tony.

They were talking about trading, Jason Roberts, like,

I'll get it, Robertson.

I know.

And then Ranton in 69 points, despite missing all this time.

And again, you know, you have 67 for Wyatt Johnson.

They have a lot of guys that can score.

I don't know that they're missing much when you look at this Dallas stars team.

No, I mean, Robertson and Johnson are both crushing it right now.

And this is a team that I don't know where the kink and the armor is.

I don't know where the weakness is.

And this is going to be one of the many.

But this will be a really good test for the Golden Knights to see really where they are at.

And I don't know if, and then they played, I mean, it's played Minnesota.

We saw where they were at.

They played the Oilers.

We just saw where they were at.

So what's the say of the Golden Knights?

You're going to have a better outcome tonight.

I don't know.

We'll talk about that later on.

But it's time to really see what the Golden Knights potential is.

And right now, it looks like their potential is going to be the third seed in the Pacific

or a wild card team.

And well, I'm sure we'll have time in the third segment.

Maybe you talk about the standings and everything.

But it's looking, it's not a lock by any means that this team is going to,

this goldmine team is going to be in the playoffs.

Well, right now, you look at a team like Edmonton.

So Edmonton, I think has Colorado on the road.

And then they go into Dallas too.

So yeah, everyone's got a tough schedule right now.

So it's getting really tough every other day, as we've mentioned and what have you.

So it's good though.

So what we need coming.

Yeah, coming up next, how can VGK salvage the rest of this season

and stay in contention for the remaining 18 games?

AKA those line combinations are whack.

I think I tweeted that out yesterday.

Yesterday I was talking Raiders over there.

Oh yeah, the guy from Gold and Nights hockey talking to hockey guys talking

Raiders stuff it.

Can I say stuff it?

So Dallas is they're playing like a cup contender right now.

And Vegas is a team that more or less is trying to stabilize.

The Gold and Nights want to steal one on the road tonight.

And if they do so, they're going to need their best defensive effort

in weeks.

And they're going to have to get a strong start.

Falling behind early in Dallas spells disaster.

How can the Gold and Nights Chris get the lead in a game like tonight?

Sustain it.

And again, there's just 18 games to go.

Every night is a playoff game for the Vegas Gold and Nights.

That's a good question.

And I don't know.

There's a lack of a killer instinct right now.

There's many.

No urgency, right?

No urgency.

Urgency is a perfect word to use lack of urgency.

Motivation, not responding to the coach.

A short came out from yesterday's episode.

That's going pretty bonkers on YouTube right now.

And basically it was me saying I feel that coach Cassidy has lost

his way with the 2526 Gold and Nights.

Now does that mean Cassidy's a bad coach?

No.

Does that mean Cassidy's a bad human being?

No.

Cassidy is a great coach.

And hopefully he writes the ship with this team

because it would be a magnificent story

if this team got on the right side of it and went on a playoff run.

But the reality is, as of now March the 10th,

is there are many, many more questions and answers.

And now you're seeing it in the line combinations.

We'll start with your standing defensive specialist

who is putting pucks into the net

and contributing on the offensive side of the ice

and Riley Smith in favor of a jersey, Brandon Saad.

Brandon Saad currently on the season is sitting at not a lot of points.

I think it's three goals.

He got a score really far down to find his darn name.

He's the highest farmer teams.

It's the only time he's scored.

Yeah, well, Riley Smith is 20 points.

11 goals, 9 assists.

He's a minus 10, but for those that don't pull off stock and let

find no pull off stock into that Brandon Saad 46 games,

eight measly points, three measly goals, minus eights.

And Brandon Saad is getting a little bit of time on the kill,

but Riley Smith is a much better defensive forward.

Yeah, after Evan Bouchard basically toasted Brandon Saad

the other night, we returned the corner.

And he got the puck to Trent Frederick for the finish.

After that, we didn't see much of Saad.

It was sad.

He was pretty sad.

Wait, wait, wait, time out.

So you're the one that said all that about Bruce Cassidy losing the team.

And then I get all the iron of the fans.

What's up with that?

That's something new.

Why not put Mitch Mariner back on it is it's urgent time, right?

Mariner has to be back on the top line with Eichel.

He's a wing guy, get him back there.

It's time to push those buttons.

Yeah, I'm not against.

I'm not against that definitely.

And Brandon Bowman, I will still say it again.

He should be in the American league.

Yes, I know the gold lights injury circumstances,

but Bowman is not getting things done at the NHL level.

He's getting to the right places.

He's getting to the dirty areas.

He's contributing.

Yes, but he is not finishing.

Is there a better option?

I mean, I don't know.

I don't want Bob Boulder Highway holds at this point,

but I understand or take away some responsibility from Bowman

and not being on that top line.

You got Dorifiav, you got Mitch Mariner,

you got even Brett Houdin.

These are all players who might have a better outcome

being on that top line with Jack.

But I'm with you.

I mean, this team just traded for Nick Dowd.

Colton Sizzens is a fine fourth line settlement.

Settermann.

It just seems like the fix right now is down the middle,

top to bottom, Eichel, Hurtle, Houdin.

Sizzens.

Makes sense.

It feels like it or Dowd.

Dowd.

I mean, either way here, point being is Mariner on the wing.

Flipflop Sizzens and Houdin, perhaps even,

because yeah, with Sizzens on the second line,

I don't know about that.

I mean, he did get behind the defense twice in the wild games.

So he did a pretty good job in the wild game.

That was his best game I thought.

But I would like to see of all these things here,

just two things, Mariner on the wing,

whatever, top or second line.

Don't care.

Top.

And then Smith for side.

And now the defensive side.

And I know what people are going to say here,

but this is how it has to be for it to work.

For number one, McNabb and Theodore are listed

as the top D pairing, which they're together.

I like that as the top D pairing.

I still don't like that.

Right.

Antifin and Anderson, they have history together.

They have, correct.

Used to have some good chemistry together.

If things work for it for Hannah Finn and Anderson

and Theodore and McNabb,

that's 45 minutes of ice time.

Again, there's more special team, whatever.

But that's 45 minutes of ice time.

Korzak and LaZon need to be safe for 15 minutes

for 18 shifts of game, whatever the math works out to be,

12, whatever the math works out to be,

and let them redevelop some of their early season chemistry.

I know people are going to say,

Hannah Finn and Anderson have them in good together.

They're going to have to be good together.

They're going to be, they're going to have to be good together.

I don't see Korzak playing 18, 19 minutes of game.

Down the stretch, especially in the playoffs.

Yeah.

Right now, it's bust city, you know,

when you're looking at Rasmussen,

and please hang on to your stick tonight.

Crying out loud.

Anderson, he's not, I don't think an extension

is going to be in the work for it.

I told you that, flip him.

I said flip the dude.

They're not going to flip him.

You know, Tony is not going to sign him.

He really messed up.

He said, I don't want an extension.

Okay, well, go ahead now.

What's your value look like, bro?

He did that to get to Vegas.

He left.

So hurdle, Riley Smith and Dorr Fee,

if I would put in line two,

I would put just how to an involvement on the next line.

I don't have another winger to put there.

And then the fourth line would be,

I just put like a, you know, just go one man down,

Colesmith, Dowd and Sizzins on line four.

Do you feel like the defensemen have to step it up?

Again, like, I don't think that they have right now

that's so called identity, the spaghetti identity

or whatever it's going to be.

They don't have the identity

because what are they going to do?

Are they going to pinch and try to attack

and try to score?

Or are they going to play good solid defense

and let the game come to them?

I just think that there's a lot of confusion.

It should be good solid defense

let the game come to them.

It should be good solid defense let the game come to them.

It's not, they're joining, they're joining the rush.

And it's, it looks like a lot of confusion.

I'll be quite honest with you.

Well, it's just the forwards too.

And that's, and that's in chemistry.

I mean, the lines, the deep earrings keep changing too.

And that's another what the lines in the intern said right there.

And I think this key to Colossar third line experiment

is way beyond stale right now.

You know, Sizzins has contributed offensively,

move Sizzins up to the third line, but Colossar,

I mean, what a heavy line, right?

Dowd, Colossar, Colossmith, that's a great fourth line.

Sizzins can go somewhere on line two or lines.

That's what, that's what I was saying.

And you have an extra stick.

Here's the other part, Tony, real fast here.

Would if you leave Colossis on the wing

on the second or third line, that's not a wing guy.

That's an extra center, even when they saw it,

when how didn't hurdle or martyr are thrown out of the circle.

Even Dowd said he kind of alluded to it

in a very odd interview, right?

Yeah, like, you know, I thought Dowd was fun.

He's dead pin.

He's like me.

they beat VGK earlier this season five to two

in a shootout, Maverick Bork scoring twice,

Miko Ranton and who's out of the lineup tonight still

with the game winner.

And we have not seen a VGK scheduled over time loss

in a minute.

So I'm gonna go with the scheduled over time loss

for the VGK.

I will go to four three stars in over time.

Riley Smith and Ivan Barbership,

it's gonna be a pretty physical game

I would have to imagine.

And again, this stars team,

I don't know how the Golden Knights can beat them to be honest,

but I think they will play a more responsible game.

Did they get into practice yesterday

because that always helps them out, VGK maybe?

I don't know.

Well, yeah, your mic's not on, it's good, good bro.

I'm awake, hi, good morning.

I was a scheduled mute right there.

I was a scheduled mute.

All right, so this is weird, right?

I mean, number one, talking to line for the game.

Golden Knights plus 128, Dallas minus 154,

five and a half on the over, under, over.

Maybe the issue is with me like if I'm betting,

like when I was really betting, you know, four or five games

a night, I'm looking at a team that is a good plus,

115 to plus 135 underdog.

Homer Road doesn't matter to me.

And then I'm looking to see what the public split is.

And without seeing the public split,

I'm assuming at these numbers as they sit right now,

probably 65% of the money is coming in on the Dallas stars.

So the sports better in me is saying,

you bet the golden Knights, it's not gonna necessarily pay out,

but over the long term, if you make this bet 10 times,

the gold lights win three of these games,

theoretically, you might be up a little bit of money.

So the gold lights are gonna be the bet tonight,

but I don't trust this team.

So the realistic side of me says a five, two Dallas stars winner.

I do like I go and I go and theodore to contribute,

but I'm just having a hard time trusting,

even though I do feel like this is a game

where the golden Knights can at least be a live dog, sort of speak.

On the chance side, I mean, you saw Jack I'll try

and will this team back in the Euler's game the other night.

So Eichel's got the heart right now.

So give me Eichel for three shots.

Give me Eichel for two points.

Give me Eichel for one goal or greater.

Basically, a four to one pay out $5 gets you 20 bucks

at the window.

I get the feeling, you know, with this Dallas team,

if they lead by one, they turn it to two and possibly three.

And so I would not be surprised if they open up this game.

And the key to tonight's game is, as it is with most games,

is to stay out of the penalty box,

because each team is pretty good on the power play,

but this is a very potent power play team

again, that the golden Knights are going to be facing.

I thought the VGK PK was pretty decent the other night.

And I think, you know, that Dowd,

I think his addition, definitely helping out there,

they definitely have some veteran leadership

on that penalty kill for the golden Knights,

but stay out of the box tonight, you can't.

For sure.

And this is where the Dowd and Cole Smith,

even acquisitions, can certainly help on the PK

and possibly bring back some defensive identity

to this golden Knights team,

thinking about the 22, 23 team and how tough they were,

not just the defense, but the forwards to play against.

Just some standings updates here.

The golden Knights are second place in the Pacific

behind the ducks, what a world of real living in already.

The oilers are two points behind after that four point game

on Sunday nights and looking at the wild card right now,

the cut line on the crack and at 67 points,

sharks outside looking in with the Kings at 66 points.

However, the sharks have played three less games

and the Vegas golden Knights.

So the sharks theoretically, if they win their three games,

are tied with the golden Knights

and you gotta look at points percentage and all that drama,

I'm not sure where that would shake out at the moment

and then the Kings have played one less game.

So this is not going to be easy sledding

and then a lot of people say, oh, they're okay,

they're in the playoffs, whatever,

but what's important to recognize right now

is the golden Knights are the 16 best team in the NHL

from a points perspective.

And tonight they play.

16th overall.

Right.

And they happy that they're in the top three

in the Pacific.

Open your eyes, people.

Open your eyes.

Open your eyes too.

Call it and stop throwing spaghetti at the stinkin' wall.
