VIOLENCE: Oklahoma State Coaches Must DEMAND Physically Violent Action Against Oregon!

1:03control against Oregon should be the physicality. We covered in the off season. What was it like? 11, 12 Oklahoma State players had broken the sub 11 second 100 meter time, and then somebody let me know that Oregon has like 25 of them dudes that ran sub 11 second 100 meter times. Okay, so maybe we're not as fast as Oregon. You look at the O-line D line. We're probably not as big as Oregon. You look at the depth component. We're probably not as deep as Oregon. But we are a bunch of Southern country dudes. They might be better in a lot of capacities, but I would imagine they don't have a bunch of dudes that have a wrestling background. I would imagine they don't have a bunch of dudes that go out hunting on a regular basis. They don't have a bunch of dudes that know to go out and skin deer and hunt hogs and fight in the backyard with anybody and everybody. Play King in the Mountain. I would imagine that there's a decent number of Oregon players that are not the same as good old Southern boys.

2:06That's what Oklahoma State primarily is. So why couldn't we show Oregon that there's a reason that we do a lot of ass woven down south? Why can't we show the Oregon ducks that there's one thing that we can control? And that is how physically violent we are going to play this ball game because there are so many components that become slightly problematic when diagnosing some of the Oregon films, especially in consideration of the game that we just played. But no matter how much we may have underestimated Tulsa, no matter how much the players thought that the game was eventually going to swing back around in the right direction, no matter how much we thought that the heat was a problem. I'm sure a lot of you have heard Eric Morris's press conference by now when he mentioned the heat factor, it blew my ever loving mind. Like we knew it was going to be a little bit of an obstacle for Oregon to overcome because it doesn't get that hot up there in that region of America.

3:06But then we find out that we weren't prepared for the heat going to play Tulsa. We're in the middle of Oklahoma. We weren't prepared for the heat. That just seems insane to me. But maybe it's our end of facility, right? As Calvin Glenn Alexander pointed out, maybe we got too comfortable in the air condition building or at least the heat regulated building to some degree, which again, pretty crazy to me. But thankfully Eric Morris did address a multitude of things like one of the things that he said is you need to see growth now. Like when he's challenging his football team, whatever happened in week one, at this point in time, it doesn't even necessarily matter. It's not a conference game. So it doesn't necessarily derail you from all of your goals. And let's be real. If you lose Tulsa, but then you beat Oregon, it's a loss that you're willing to accept and be okay with another thing that I found pretty awesome for Eric Morris to talk about.

4:06Was he said that they need to practice more physicality? And he said that it would be a sign to not practice physicality for the remainder of the season. And after that, I wholeheartedly agree because the same conversation should have been had about the Tulsa team. We were going to be bigger than them faster than them stronger than them deeper than them, right? They played like 45 players. We played over 60. But they beat us at the point of attack. They cared more about that ballgame than we did. They had more pride for the Tulsa uniform that we had for our Oklahoma State uniform. They cared more about rocking for the state of Oklahoma than we did at that time. They physically were prepared to go to work and go to war against Oklahoma State in T-town. And they did just that. Like if you were to line up 11 of the best players for Tulsa and 11 of the best players from Oklahoma State, there would not be a massive comparison.

5:07More often than not. And the same is going to be said about the Oregon ballgame. Okay, so how did Tulsa beat us? Yes, schematically, they were more prepared than we were. There's no doubt. Schematically, they were able to change what their thought process was. They were able to change on the fly mid-game what the original intention was supposed to be. So they beat us in X's and O's. They beat us in schematics. They beat us in game planning. But more than anything, they physically beat us. And then of all the things that we cannot control against Oregon, that should be the one thing that we can. We should be a bunch of farm boys that like to go Newtland, that have a background in doing things that not a lot of players from the West Coast have. Like maybe my terminology isn't off, but I do feel like I am accentuating the point

6:10properly that we are country dudes. I mean, most of our officers from Texas and Oklahoma, you're going to have some guys spread out from there. But the meat and taters of this team is a bunch of Texas and Oklahoma boys. So that's how we should play the football game against Oregon. It should be a fist fight in the phone booth. We shouldn't be getting pushed around by Tulsa. Just like Oregon could not get pushed around by Oklahoma State. But if you're willing to be scrappy, if you're willing to be more ruthless, more violent, more aggressive, more tenacious than Oregon, then so be it. Having some inopportune penalties, that stinks. But I think a lot of us would take that in this ball game. If it was predicated upon physical aggression, not simply you waiting too long to make a tackle, are you waiting too long to hit the quarterback, are you being in the wrong place at the wrong time? Aside from all of that, like what is the consistent thing that we've heard about defensive coordinator

7:15scholar Cassidy is he wants things to be simplistic enough that everybody can run around at 120 miles an hour freely and just fly around with reckless abandon, throw their body and caution to the wind and just make something happen. Causum had it, cause some chaos. This is the perfect opportunity for Oklahoma State to answer the call. And again, there's a lot of things that we may not be able to match up, man for man with them on. But if there's one thing that we should be able to control, it should be the physicality, the mentality and the ability to handle the heat a little bit differently. But all of the exes and o's and the designs that didn't go right or the play calls that didn't go right or the execution that didn't go right, I think a lot of us would be willing to give some of that up once again in this ball game. If we just made sure to beat them in intensity, not match them in intensity, because if you

8:16just simply match Oregon and their intensity level with the amount of talent, skill, speed, size that they have, it could be a long day. You cannot just physically match them. You have to beat them in physicality. You have to be more violent than Oregon, because if you are that, then everything else will likely sort itself out. But even if it doesn't, if Oklahoma State puts up a valiant performance and we are physically being dominant in a multitude of areas, we will take whatever the scoreboard ends up looking like. But what we can't have is to get beat on the scoreboard, to get beat on the field and to get beat physically in the trenches at the point of attack. This needs to be a game that we rally around each other, rally together. And part of that is us, the fans. If you have the ability to get your butt to still water America, we do need to show Oregon that on top of the heat, the other thing that you got to be prepared for is the crowd.

9:21Oregon Stadium, Oklahoma State Stadium, I feel like there's probably a decent number of similarities. So crazy noise is not going to be a major obstacle for them, but they need to fill us. They need to know that we're there. We need to know, they need to know that we're breathing down the back of their neck, both literally and figuratively, to try to force them into some inopportune scenarios where they do make mistakes, where they uncharacteristically put us in a position where we can be successful because they did do that against Boise State. They did give Boise several opportunities. And although Boise is always one of the top G6 teams in the country that probably could flirt with being a powerful level ball club, they still are not going to be able to physically be the same skill, size, speed, and depth as Oregon. And they put a fight to them. And if you lined up Oklahoma State Troster and Boise State Troster, I would imagine that we would have a lot of abilities over them, but they capitalized more often than not

10:28on mistakes. And part of those mistakes were led because Boise State was being very aggressive. Go back and watch that Boise State Oregon game. Boise State was getting penetration. Boise State was getting into the backfield from the D line. Boise State was largely controlling their all NFL level defensive line for the most part. Think is important. Positioning is important. But most importantly, you got to be more physical. That's the only thing you could control. So bring out the hunting, fishing, noodle, and wrestling to this football field and make Oregon feel every single snap at every single position. And don't worry about the score ends up being because we'll take that. Just like, we'll all take the ease of an ODEU style system to allow things to run much more smooth. We're going to keep on trucking with the same mentality to some degree. A segment one is if you can bring the aggression level up, if you can turn the violence on more than ever against Oregon, then perhaps you can put yourself in a position to get some of these turnovers, which is again, precisely what scholar Cassidy is known for. This is what scholar Cassidy was brought in for because it's a prevailing theme that's never necessarily going to subside. That if you have a prolific supposed to be high flying offense that launches the ball down the field quite often, you are going to put your defense in some precarious positions three and outwise and things that nature.

13:31So you don't have to be the best defense in the world. You have to be opportunistic. You have to be been but don't break. And then part of the breaking is you creating turnovers. This is what scholar Cassidy has been known for everywhere he's gone from Abling Christian to Sam Houston to North Texas. Defensive improvements have gone up quite a bit, but the biggest glaring capability that he brings to the fold is always turnovers. He only had one interception against Tulsa. Do I think that we're going to be running around picking off Dante more left and right? Absolutely not. I think he's too good of a quarterback. He has too good of a weapons cache around him. But you can cause some turnovers whether it be hard hits, whether it be swiping at the ball, punching at the ball, stripping at the ball, whether it be putting the crown of your helmet on the ball, whether it be in special teams. I know we were really close at creating a turnover in special teams against Tulsa.

14:33We're just a few plays away from this being an entirely different ball game. Yesterday I likened it to the Florida State SMU game where SMU put up almost 600 yards and they should have beat Florida State by 30. They should have, but they just kept turning the ball over and they kept not getting fourth and one situations to work out in their favor. They kept giving the ball back to Florida State. They didn't even know their quarterback only had like what 80 yards is bad, but they were still in the ball game because of turnovers. I think that's one of the biggest question marks in this ball game coming up. Han Scholar Cassidy live up to the billing beside his name, which is somebody that is very uniquely inclined to force turnovers to create chaos because we have to have it. And there was some encouraging signs.

15:33Again, Pete Romney played well. Ethan Muslowski played pretty well. A day Chisholm played well. Christian Baudner, he got out of position sometimes, but he made some plays. No horn got out of position sometimes, but he was capable of rallying and helping on some plays as well. It's those opportunities that were missed to some degree against Tulsa because again, they overcame our physicality from the very get go. They were the more physical team. They set the tone the right way from the beginning and we just didn't match that. Once again, you cannot do it against Oregon. You cannot just simply match them. There are a few teams in America that can probably get away with that, right? You're Indianers, you're Alabama, you're Texas, you're Georgia, they can probably just simply match the same aggression level as Oregon and be fine. We cannot do that. We have to be more aggressive. We have to be more tenacious. We have to create more turnovers.

16:33We have to cause habit. We have to create chaos. This is precisely why scholar Cassidy was brought in. Nobody was anticipating that he was going to be a top 10 defense, top 15 or even top 25 defense. But the anticipation always was, we might give up 500 yards of game, but we'll always have multiple turnovers and we'll always be pretty darn good in the red zone because that's what scholar Cassidy has brought to every team at every level he's ever been at. So if there is a time that the turnover gang has a game where they get rocking and rolling and they send a massive message, it is this one. And again, you probably are going to have to get creative. You're going to have to disguise some blitzes from odd places. You are going to have to get a little bit fancy on your twist and your stunts because as Eric Morse already pointed out in this press conference yesterday, Dante Morse potentially a top 10 NFL pit. He's a sure fire first rounder. If you give him four or five seconds, he's going to complete the ball, not to mention

17:36the fact that they've got all those dudes that run 10 second 100 meter times. If he catches them and stride, we're going to have a long day. We're going to have a difficult time bringing them down, catching them. It could be a disaster. But if I know it's a big F, but if scholar Cassidy can find a way to be creative, to be fun, to get cute, to cause chaos and turnovers, this is a ball game that Oklahoma State very well could be in. Even though we maybe shouldn't be in it. Speaking of things being could be, would be, should be, you should be rocking and rolling with Fandall today. 21:48Boom. We are Morgan McFall fans. She's rocking number 45 playing slot receiver wasn't my idea by the way, but you know what she proved that she could run the route tree. She proved that she could catch 50 passes in a row. So yeah, my daughter is a football player. But before we get to her football game, we got to talk a little bit more about this speed dynamic that we may or may not have. And if we've got some dudes, it will be Chris Barnes and Justin Bowett and Miles Coleman. And even why young and the one thing that I saw pretty synonymously on social media was why didn't we push the ball deep right? You could have concerns about the old line the D line and a multitude of things the DB's you can have those concerns. But the biggest offensively other than the offensive line was our inability or unwillingness to push the ball deep. Again, Oregon speed, it's going to be a problem.

22:53But if Drew Messmaker is to be an NFL level quarterback and he is that guy that can drop the ball into buckets that not very many other quarterbacks in America can, this is the game to show it. And we all know this. We absolutely never showed anything on film as it pertains to pushing the ball deep. So Oregon didn't really have a lot to prepare in regards to what are the capacities and capabilities of Drew Messmaker launching the ball deep. What is the capability of Justin Bowett to go up and get the ball two catches for 22 yards is pretty impressive. But you could have two catches for 80 yards and if he only gets two catches the whole game and it's probably not going to be significant enough to matter at the end of the day. Oregon I would imagine stall the same thing we saw from Caleb Hawkins. Pretty darn good. You're probably going to put together a game plan that at first slows down Caleb Hawkins.

23:59So the next step for us has to be we got to launch the ball deep. Like I don't think there's any way around dinkin and dunkin and thrown at one yard, two yard, three yard, negative one yard like with getting his Tulsa. There's no chance. There's no chance in God's orange earth that that would work against Oregon. So somehow, some way, maybe it's play action. Maybe we shift to his own blocking scheme to allow the running game to find more holes that will then open up the passing game. Whatever the case is, we've got to do something. We've got to manipulate the system that we have now to cause enough confusion and chaos for Oregon to play a little bit of catch up. If that happens, we are going to be at least a team that's competitive in this ball game. If we can complete some deep passes, if we can get Justin Bowett, Chris Barnes, Miles Coleman, Wyatt Young, if we can hit them, Terrence Lewis even on the run, even the mighty track speed deluxe, Oregon ducks will have a hard time.

25:05I mean, you just you cannot coach speed, right? You can make somebody a little bit faster that has some speed, but it's something you have or you're done just like the ability to track the ball. It's something that you have or you've developed or it's just not going to come around. And if it's not going to come around, those are the ones that are slipped to the deep and subsided ball, right? A lot of your DB is at one point in time or wide receivers that you didn't quite have the most reliable hands in the world. Oklahoma State is good enough. I still think I still think we have enough individual talent between the guys we just name, the guy at quarterback, the guy at running back to make life complicated and annoying for Oregon. So let's try to beat him over top. Let's try to take him into deep waters because boys he was able to have some success here and there. And so it's also against us.

26:05So we know good and darn well that you have to push the ball down the field. And Eric Morse did address that the play calling in this game against also was pretty horrendous. You can't fix everything in a week. We understand that. But you can fix the physicality, right? You can play the players that are going to be the most physically violent point blank period into story full stop to play those dudes, even if they're not starters, even if they don't make the most N.I.L. And same could be said as a wide receiver, we want to see the dudes that are willing to stretch the field that have the ability to get yards after catch. This is a big gut check moment for our cowboys. But again, individually, we've got more than enough talent to hang with Oregon. And if you hang with somebody for long enough and it gets deep enough into the fourth quarter, then you got a chance. You have a legitimate shot to win the ball game.
