So report came out yesterday that the SEC was collectively banding together and going over all the rules and regulations with regards to what's needed to kick LSU out of the SEC. They would need 11 votes. You don't even need unanimous support. You just need a what two thirds majority pretty much. You need a two thirds majority to kick someone out of the league. I mean, the swiftness and aggressiveness with which the SEC has pursued this particular

3:05manner has surprised me a little. I'm not surprised that they're opposed to it. Now when the reports came out, the expectation, and I read this in both Yahoo and ESPN, the same tagline, they're not expected to go that far. They're not expected to get there. That they were willing to put that on the table. Any of you played Jin Rummy out there, it's family favorite card game. I've played, I don't even know how many hands in my life, that they were willing to put that down and make that in play. It wasn't three of a kind where you only have one other card to play off it. No, that was putting down King Queen Jack and all of a sudden, you're holding the nine and eight and you're just hoping that he'll put the ten down and oh, I got you. They wanted that card to be on the table. They weren't hiding it. They weren't being secretive about it. They said no, that's what we're considering.

4:06That expulsion was on the table. Then there was a development late on Tuesday night, which is that LSU added two players to their roster to fill it out at 105, which maximizes the number of players that can actually be on a college football roster, thus the former professionals cannot be added to LSU's roster. In the most high-stakes college sports game of chicken that we've seen in recent memory, it appears that the SEC is going to win out. Look, I think you are well within your right for the class of 2022. If you have not played anywhere professionally to say, I want to play another year, you should be giving me this. It's not fair that you, that's all perfectly logical. I even understand and think it is unfortunate that folks who wouldn't have tried to go

5:08to the NFL, signed some form of a professional contract and are now the centerpiece of the SEC making a point in everyone else making a point, which is a correct point. There are not many issues in this realm where I'd say both sides actually are correct, because I believe the players that didn't make an NFL roster by the way that say, well, I wouldn't have tried to go to the NFL if the NCAA had passed this previously. I believe you on that front, because none of them were going to actually make a roster or did make a roster and therefore would probably be better suited to actually see the field playing college football. I also believe that the SEC is sincere in its pursuit to ensure that former pro athletes are not able to come back down and play college sports. It seems like the correct argument has one out here.

6:10It is without question unfortunate. The I or should not be directed at the SEC, because I agree with Greg Sanky and the SEC member institutions who are saying we have rules and guidelines that we believe are important to govern our league effectively. Those rules have to be enforceable. You have to have a social contract in society or else it doesn't work. You can't just have people saying nope, no, nothing's legitimate. Nothing's legitimate, nothing matters. All money is the same. The law doesn't matter. There is no justice system. You can't have that. Society crumbles. I understand why the SEC is saying if we make a rule and say these are the guidelines slash rules that everyone else is adhering to, you can't have a member institution going rogue. You can't have that. I understand it. It is an unfortunate situation. The I or of those athletes should not be directed at the SEC. They're acting in their own best interests and what they believe is in the best interests

7:12of college sports, which I happen to agree with by the way. The I or should be directed at the NCAA who passed this at an inopportune time. They did not get there quick enough to let these guys make that decision. That's who fumbled the back here. But the premise of saying no pro athletes or guys that have signed contracts in the NFL, we can't start opening the door with that. That's not wrong. That's not a misguided pursuit from the SEC elsewhere in the controversial college sports world, which is basically everything nowadays. I released a reaction video yesterday to the Mac flipping the script on Michigan, the big 10 and college football writ large and saying, yeah, the protocol wasn't followed here, which according to Mike Pereira, longtime rules analyst who will be on your TV very soon, since that other football league that people follow in this country is back this week.

8:17Mike Pereira said, yeah, they didn't follow the policy correctly. Now they thought what they were doing was right, but they actually didn't adhere to the procedure. Well, it turns out unsurprisingly that there is no mechanism to overturn the outcome of the game, even though that's what the Mac and Western Michigan would like to do, but especially to Mac, the commissioner's office is the one that actually released a statement. Now, you can check out on Twitter at locked on underscore CFB because I believe that a top 25 metric should be based on what you have earned. You will not see the Michigan Wolverines featured in my top 25. You will, however, see the Western Michigan Broncos featured in my top 25 because I know who won that game and it wasn't Michigan. I get that that's where we are and I am not surprised in the slightest that it won't be overturned. Should it be? Yes, because we know that Western Michigan won the game. Did I expect it to go that way?

Jcatch of locked on BYU Cougars is here to discuss why because BYU is hosting Arizona in probably the marquee showdown, Big 12 matchup of the year so far. We've only had three weeks of college football, but this is the biggest game. The Big 12 has put on TV so far. I hope everybody realizes that. Jc there is a very real world. I think these are both legitimate Big 12 title contenders. I like BYU more than Arizona, even though I like know if it's a little bit more than bare-buck Meyer. I think BYU's got the more complete team. That they had a great off season. I was keeping their headcoach step one on that venture.

11:23I think this is a matchup that we could look back one day and say, yep, X team made the playoff because they won this game. Well, that's the thing about this is both these teamspenser are trying to build, I guess, a resume for lack of a better term early on the season and kind of announce themselves to the country. You do that with a nationally televised game that's on the East Coast at 3.30 p.m. Eastern time on Fox. That's a huge, huge platform for you to kind of launch what some people will consider your candidacy in a way to be a college football playoff has been or a Big 12 contender. Both these teams, I think, absolutely looking at this as the launching point for how the rest of their season is perceived. BYU and Week 1 played Utah Tech. Gosh, it was such a disappointing result. I was just crushed. It was absolutely. It gave up seven points. Yeah, disappointing. Really, really disappointing.

12:25Die hard followers of mine understand what's being alluded to here, but that's okay. So BYU didn't get a major test in Week 1. They looked the way you are supposed to against an inferior opponent and that is dominant from the start on both sides. Utah Tech couldn't run the ball. Utah Tech couldn't stop BYU from doing anything on offense. I thought Aaron Roderick, frankly, showed a little bit too much of the playbook at times. I thought that little reverse action pivot screen on the outside instead of just lining up and snapping it out there and hoping a guy makes a block. I thought that sort of stuff was fun and creative. They had some fly sweep action and this BYU offense looked the way that I expected it to in Week 1. Well, that's the thing about this is BYU is a veteran squad. They know what they're chasing this year's Spencer and that is big 12 championship, hopefully and more importantly, I think many people's eyes, a college football playoff part. And I think that they came out and played the way that a squad that returns the vast

13:29majority of its two deep from a season to go outside of kind of that wide receiver contingent. They went out there and played like you expected them to. It was relatively clean football. They didn't have a lot of those pre-snap penalties. It seemed to plague teams early on in a season. The way that they played, you can tell this squad knows what they're chasing this year and their intent whether it's Utah Tech. And I know that a lot of people want to talk about Notre Dame down the line here. It's the marquee game on BYU schedule. The kugers to their credit, they treated Utah Tech like they should and they just went out there and handled their business. Yeah, and on both sides of the ball, but let's talk about Bearbock Meyer offensively because I like to be why you defense a lot and they're the epitome of a well coach team. I've never seen a, I'm sure it's happened because you watch BYU closer than I do. Every time I watch BYU, I never seen on sportsmen like conduct penalty on the defense. I never see a late hit. I never see a face mask. I never see silly mistakes. When they get beat, they just get beat.

14:31They don't beat themselves. And that's what I like most about BYU's defense over the last couple of years with Kalani Sataki there. And they brought in one of my favorite transfer linebackers in the country in Kedaluava, who made a couple of plays against the trailblazers last week. How does this group slow down Noa Fafita? Well, they're going to have to get pressure with just four guys. That's the thing about this is Noa Fafita is so good at diagnosing where blitzes are coming from. He'll throw it right to that spot and he'll sting you that way. BYU, when they had their most success against Fafita, both in 2024 and 2025, the two wins they've got over him. They were able to get pressure with just a four man or a three man rush and allow the other guys to cover on the back end to close up all the holes in the zone or whether they're going man or zone, whatever it is, they make sure that it was impossible for him to find the open man. He is very, very good about getting that ball out of his hand. So BYU is going to have to force the action. These defensive ends that we've talked about, hopefully for the last two years to really emerge and be a real force off of the edge for BYU's defense.

15:35This is the week it kind of needs to come all together, speaking of that defensive line. And if they can get pressure with four guys and allow the other players to drop into coverage, that will seal up a lot of the options that no Fafita usually exploits against other teams. Let's talk about Bear Bachmeier at some point in this game, maybe the fourth quarter, maybe the middle part, maybe early on. I don't know. I get the sense that both these quarterbacks are going to heat up and they do it in a little bit different ways. I think there's going to be an element of this game where you feel like you're almost watching a basketball game and it's this guy's taking a shot down here. And they're just kind of going back and forth for a little while. Last year on the court, it would have been what, AJ DeBonsta and... Well, just any of the Arizona. No, I doubt you. I was, I was, I was sure I'd think of one and then I went, it was kind of all of them, wasn't it? Well, yeah, let's say, AJ DeBonsta co-op heat. There we go. That's right. Yeah, yeah, sure. There you go. I think it'll feel that way at some point. I hope it's in the fourth quarter because this could be an utterly spectacular game. Could you see from Bare Bachmeyer in week one that had you encouraged based on how he

16:39needed to improve from last year? I wanted to see more of him making plays from the pocket. Now, it's not that he didn't make plays from the pocket a season ago. But if you go back and obviously Legend Glasker was kind of the sensation of week one for BYU, it was the three touchdowns he had in his debut as a BYU football player. But his second touchdown, if you go and watch that play, Aaron Rodder pointed it out to the media saying that that play, when he went to Legend Glasker on the point, that was the third read of his progression on that play. This is a guy that for long stretches last season, it was a, you have one read here if not tuck it in run. Maybe, and then they send it out maybe to a K, you have one then two. Well, now if he's going one to two to three, maybe even fourth options now, that shows he's made it major progression in his ability to diagnose defenses and then be able to make plays with his arm. That was a very positive sign, even though Utah Tech was overmatched. It was nice to see him sit back there and make plays in the pocket. LJ Martin, preseason, big 12 player of the year, offensively. That backfield is really good.

17:41And that ability to run the ball, if I'm Arizona's defense, which is their biggest question mark coming into this season, it's not the offense because Fafita and that offensive staff, they're going to put up points. The question mark is the defense. And to me, biggest key for Arizona coming into this game, Bachmeier and LJ Martin have to combine all say for under 150. I think if those two combine for over one fifth, you have got a major problem. But if you keep them to, you know, Bachmeier's only got 40 and LJ Martin's got 75 to 80 yards or so, I think you're all right. But if those two start running wild, this is definitely a BYU offense to me, Jake with Aaron Roderick at the helm, that is at its most dangerous in the passing game when it has the running game. It's not an elite straight dropback passing offense, play action, little bit like Boise State

18:43was doing it to Oregon last week. They weren't super effective running the ball. They kept at it because they need to play action. That's what I feel like BYU's. They will run the ball all day if you can't stop them, but their passing attack just gets amplified in a huge way if you can't slow those two down. Well, I'll back you up on that. So I just pulled this up. So last year BYU and Arizona was a double overtime game. BYU wins a 33 to 27. You have an idea of what LJ Martin and Bachmeier combined for rushing wise in that game. Off the top of my head, I'm going to say Arizona kept it close, 135 yards. 251 yards. Oh, it was the LJ. And bear show last year against Arizona because I'm telling you the box score. It was those two guys that powered BYU to that win. And they averaged to 5.1 yards per carry between the two of them. So if they, yeah, if they are sub 150, that's going to be a major, major advantage to Arizona's chances of winning this game.

19:44But I can tell you BYU has no intention of backing off of that rushing attack. That two headed monster. They got in the backfield. LJ Martin, he wants to make a statement. He wants to be one of, if not the best running back in the big 12 this year, if not the country. And this is an opportunity early on the season to make a statement in that respect. Two 51. Goodness gracious. They had 258. I didn't even know that. And they combined for everyone. They had 251 of the 258. Oh, okay. Yeah. So I said that about this BYU Arizona game and didn't have that stat. I would like to quintuple down on what I said. Keep those two guys in check. And maybe Arizona pulls the up set. I don't think that happens though. Give me another tight game. I'll go BYU 27 Arizona 24. I think they, they hold on for, for a tight victory there. You're going to be sitting right on that. I think that they over under like 51 and a half.

20:45So you're sitting kind of right like it's 47 and a half at the moment. That's a good idea. So you're going to come down. It is. It has come down. So but your point is there. I'm with you. I do think it's a tight game. I haven't necessarily kind of narrowed in on a squirrel. How about that? I'm sure by the by weeks end. But the thing about it is these two teams, they have played some pretty tight games. The one thing that BYU has in their back pocket Spencer. I don't know if you know this. Colonies to talk is very first game is BYU football's head coach was against Arizona. He has faced Arizona five times as a head coach during his 11 year run at BYU. You know what his record is against the five and oh. So I think the BYU has no intention of relinquishing that five win a five game win streak against Arizona as opposed to all the coaches that intend to lose when they line up to play a college football game. I recall a time when Alabama under current head coach Kay Linda Bore and he was back then welcome your cat to the show. Went on the road. They

24:17were a favorite of the 20-ish point sort of range against a program that had historically been a bottom dweller in the SEC. They lost that game and launched the career of one Diego Pavia at Vanderbilt. This spread is less than half of that, meaning the analytics nerds are out there saying, look out Alabama. What do you say? Well, I mean, you said it. I mean, if this were top five ranked Kentucky, Dabore would have them up for this game. And this is kind of in the story of Dabore's running Alabama is the big games. He has no problem getting up for it's the little dogs. It's the losses to Vanderbilt and six and six Oklahoma and you know, those kind of teams were Florida state last year. Like it's like those teams that you take lightly to that team. That team was so bad. It's just it's it's been the ups and downs of the Kay Linda Bore experience. And this one fits the bill. And it might have run on you in this same spot last year week two Ole Miss went to Kentucky.

25:22And everybody was like, Oh, Lane Kiffin and this team they're going to pick them apart. And it was a close game. Ole Miss got out of there was seven point win and we're all looking going, how did that happen? Well, this is a different Kentucky. This is a Kentucky that has more offensive firepower. I don't I'm not completely sold in their defense. Now Youngstown State moved the ball on them last week, but I will mention both of Kentucky's starting corners did not play. They were expected back this week in Sykes and Nichols. So that will help. But I almost envision if Kentucky's going to pull off this this win, it's going to have to be a shootout. But I think they've got the firepower to do it. Look, Kenny and then she looked really good last week. Thurunder yards, four touchdown passes. They got the run game going. CJ Baxter runs hard. That's a guy that was a former five star accrued at the University of Texas. The big blue wall is back and Kentucky's got a good offensive line. Lance Hurd who was a former five star accrued. Like they got dudes. I'm just worried about the defense. And then on the flip side Alabama, they got a pretty good defense. We know that secondary is one of the should be one of the best in the country. They did give

26:25up, you know, they have one missed assignment. Big play. They give up the ECU, but that played pretty well. And then Keelan Russell looks pretty darn good at quarterback. A lot of people are saying and even Paul Feinbaum said he's still going to go through some growing pains. He was awesome, but it was ECU. It's going to be his first career start on the road in the SEC environment. Does he throw a pick? Does he lose a fumble? You know, some big mistake that that causes team that could happen. So I'm giving you all the reasons why this could be close. But certainly again, the other day you look at Alabama and say, you have the better roster. You should win this game, but don't kind of well start really good offensive mind. Yeah. I'm intrigued. I too liked what Keelan Russell did last week. And by the way, as far as G6 programs go, East Carolina is not a pushover. They're not top tier. This is also a higher level opponent that Alabama faced last week than what Kentucky faced against Youngstown State. So I think between the two right now, and that's why it's

27:26fun to have an SEC game here in week two of the season. We don't have a full picture yet of what these teams actually are. And this is going to be, I think, a real measuring stick. Look, I had a hard time seeing Alabama going to Vanderbilt and losing once upon a time. I also have a hard time seeing them go on the road and beat Kentucky here and lose to Kentucky. Sorry. Whoa. Whoa. Whoa. Whoa. Hey. That's slip. That was it. That was it. Some might call that a Freudian slip. But that was just a literal wires crisscross. I have a hard time seeing them going on the road and Will Stein having everything put together in his second career game as a head coach. I'm with you that DeBore has struggled in these spots more than he should have. I just don't know, man. This is so early on. Like, do I think Alabama is a world beater going into this year? No. Actually, I don't. In quarterback is a big reason for that. I could see it being tight, but I would sooner pick Alabama to

28:32win by double digits than I would to pick Kentucky to actually win the game. Yeah. I think that's what I'm saying. Again, talk about wall cats. I mean, there was a big wall cat fight. I mean, is that a side was your cat right there on the show assigned that the cats are going to be on the prowl this week? Because he's back. I think that's what everybody's saying is are the cats back? And that's what they're asking with the Will Stein error getting. No, no, wait, look, I'll tell you this. My wife said Kentucky grad. She watched the whole game. I had Alabama and the other TVOs watching them. And so I, I, you know, watch both games pretty intently. I was just, I was surprised with the attitude that Kentucky brought and the intensity they brought in this game. Again, CJ Baxter ran hard that old line pushed and again, you know, Alabama, they don't have, we're still waiting to find out. Is there a Dallas Turner? Is there a Will Anderson Jr.? Is there,

29:33you know, one of those big time pass rushers on that D line? We still haven't seen it yet. Terrence Green played well. He had a sack. Yonsei Pierre at linebacker had the big pick six and he had a sack as well. But to me, we're still waiting to see who's that big defender up front for Alabama that could come up big. And again, this is a big test for Kenny Minci as well. I mean, this is a guy that was, you know, the backup at Notre Dame for a couple of years and, you know, waiting to see what kind of quarterback he is. This could be a big moment for him as well. So just a really big spot for both teams to see who, who emerges between Kentucky and Alabama. Just every time you want to gas up Alabama, your cats just cat cat cat. Yeah, Kiela and Roses, cat, cat, cat, more, more, more cat. So give me the, the formula for Kentucky, getting the win here, Gordy and how they can actually, how they can actually pull this one off. How can the cats pounce on the crimson tide? I think me 20 to go jerk. This is too funny. Dude, I will tell you this, the tight ends,

30:41like, I don't know you watch the organ a little bit closer to the me like did they use the tight ends a lot? They had so many tight ends sets this past week where they had two tight ends out there in some past three. They actually, yeah, they actually did that a lot last year. Part of it was out of necessity because they had injuries in the receiving room, but they had a lot of success with two and three tight end looks. Willie Rodriguez, I think a lot of Kentucky fans, there's a reason why they brought him to see media days. Like he's a guy 48 yards and a touchdown. Like they had people saying like, what was Mark Stubes doing? Like, you should be in prison for under utilizing some of these guys that you had on the roster. And so I like him. I like, you know, the running backs, like I said, backster, but Jason Patterson also had a big day. He was a big recruit for Mark Stubes a couple of years ago. He had 78 yards. So again, just the question is Kentucky's got talent. Can it all come together? It cohesive enough and you know, give them a chance at a big marquee win week two. And look,

31:44it's not the craziest thing. I had Matt Stahl from mail.com on the show back at SEC Media Days. He picked Alabama to lose this game. He just thought early in the season, Keelan Russell as a new starting quarterback in a road environment. The SEC now look at is a 330 Eastern game. So, you know, that'd be a little different if it was that night and the hostile environment. Remember Kentucky at night last year gave Texas all run for their money. You know, lost it over time. So this could be a game that you'll look up into fourth quarter and go, why is this a one score game? But again, if you're Keelan to bore your three in Tuscaloosa must win. Like, this is one you cannot afford. We're talking this is probably three lost season. If you or more, if you lose this one. So it's a must have for some of us have predicted a three lost season with a win here at Kentucky for Alabama. But hey, that's that's just me. I'll tell you, the cat was a sign for me. I think Kentucky hangs around. I'll go,

32:47I'll go 28, 21 Alabama, Alabama wins. Kentucky makes it interesting at the very least. I'll go Kentucky 27, 24. Let's get go. Oh, take it is shot. Chris Gordy locked on SEC.
