Plus, you're in love with him, Mikey McNuggets, and so many big names, it would take me hours
to say all of their names.
And welcome into the ultimate Cleveland Sports Show for one final time in our normal
1230 spot on WKYC.
We are moving starting Monday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. to 10 a.m. to 12 the first hour exclusively
on the WKYC.
Yet we appreciate you guys tuning in.
My name is Mikey McNuggets, and it is March, and March Madness is fully underway.
We had upsets galore on the first day of the tournament.
We're going to break down our favorite moments, what was a memorable Thursday filled with
college troops.
Jason.
Cats have a lot of candidates and not enough seats, what's their play or rotation going
to look like?
Kenny said he's going to play 9, maybe even 8.
Who are those names?
We're going to talk about it.
Gee, boys, you already know the General Projects dot-pile, but we're not talking about the
new players we're going to get in the draft to stop, huh?
Who's going to make the biggest leap as a rookie that's right on the Browns roster today?
We'll get to that.
Earl.
Hey, you see, and the words of WKYC will be Jordan.
It's a boy, Earl of Pearl.
I'm going to tell you why.
I believe I'm the right one picking who's going to take the second year leave for the
Browns, and nobody out there on that panel.
Let's start with, who's Boiler?
Earl's picking a Dylan, which one is going to win a few minutes to find out.
So guys, let's start with a year-to-leap topic for the Browns.
A terrific rookie class for Andrew Berry in 2025, Mason Graham, Carson Swellstenshire,
Junkins, Fanon, Shadour, Samson Gabriel.
You name it.
They all contributed in some way, shape or form to the Browns last year, but which one
is going to make the biggest year-to-leaf Jason, you're at first?
When you look at how bad the offensive line was last year and how many problems they had,
clearly they've dressed it.
Did they upgrade it?
That's what we'll find out in September and October and November.
But I'm going to go to Quinshine Judd, just because he missed all of training camp last
year.
Obviously doing a lot of legal issues still came in, and you see the numbers right there
were us for 827 yards.
The average is not great.
A lot of that had to do with how quickly he was getting hit behind the line of scrimmage.
With a little bit better protection in front of him, I think easily Quinshine's 1,000
yards back in this league could be one of the top wrestlers in this league as early as
this year.
You know what, man?
This segment is actually sponsored by G-bushes fake roly.
Now this isn't invicted, but we are going to put that up the same way.
You already know what I was going to listen.
It was already pre-ordained.
This is an easy one.
See, they already upgraded this offensive line.
They gave you potentially four new starters.
They can actually go get another starter in this draft.
You can get another starting receiver in this draft, whether it's Cardinal Take, Jalen
Tyson.
You can get my man, McCoy Lemon.
There's all kind of availability to move up and down the draft board, and guess what?
See, it's a difference between when you're competing and when you smell the finish line.
See, right now, Chador Sanders has an opportunity to win the quarterback one position, right?
Todd Monkin is going to give him that opportunity.
Hey, Deshine Watson will be in the room, Dylan Gabriel will probably have another developmental
draft guy.
But the thing that's going to help is a year off season.
He's been working with Jerry Judy.
He's been working with McCoy, a male guy co-early.
He's been working with some of those guys.
Todd Monkin is going to come in and figure out the offense, and you still got fanning.
You still got Juckins.
You still got Jerry Judy who was on a rehab assignment.
We getting Jerry Judy back to the two years ago, Jerry Judy.
I think this is a very easy one.
With the infrastructure placed, Chador Sanders should take one of the biggest leaps of any
guy on the offense, especially the rookies.
I was going to say Mason Graham, right?
We just talked a little pre-show.
Who are you going to say Mason Graham?
You did.
I'm changing my answer.
I'm changing.
You guys have convinced me that the answer is not Quenchon Juckins.
Who will take a year to leave?
It's not Chador Sanders.
Who I agree will take a year to leave.
But it's someone who is going to benefit from the partial leaps Chador is going to take
from a improved run game, from a significantly changed offensive line, and that is Harold
Fan.
He tries to end 2025, or the last six weeks that Harold Fan had played.
He was top six in all tight ends across the league in receptions.
He was fourth in yards.
He was top seven in touchdowns, and he was tied for third in first downs.
That was behind an offensive line that couldn't block me from getting the last Reese's on
Halloween, or Jason from spilling his coffee before the show started.
This offensive line is four new starters.
That means more time for Chador Sanders to Sean Watson, whoever is at quarterback, to
sit back there and survey the field.
If it is Chador, like I think it will be, do you wish Chador's favorite target down the
stretch last year?
I think it was Harold Fan.
It was Harold Fan.
Yeah.
And when Harold Fan and wasn't in the lineup for the Browns last year, Chador Sanders' numbers
started to decline.
It was his favorite target.
rookies.
They had all the reps together from minicamp, from rookie minicamp, from OTA, from those sidelines
out of field practices that Chador was being put through.
Harold Fan was off the part of those.
So who benefits the most year one to year two?
Well, Fan was a very good rookie.
I think he is a chance and the trajectory to become a superstar at the position.
And if Chador's a little better, and if the offensive line's a little better, and if
the running game's a little better, that means the passing game's going to be a lot better,
and the biggest jump will be from Chador's number one target.
So I think Harold Fan and Ghost are being a really good rookie tight end in 2025 to a guy
were calling a top five tight end in the NFL in 2020.
What he did right there, Earl.
You like that?
That was an old school trick from the prices right.
He waited to everybody else who was done, and he gonna say $1.
$1.
Oh, come on now.
That's hard to be even gathered all the information, Earl, what you've got, man.
You got Dylan, right?
You're taking Dylan.
Yeah, Dylan.
I'm taking Dylan.
I'm for sure taking Dylan, but just Dylan Sapsing.
See, this is why I'm right, and this is why you all are wrong.
I think that you all discussed statistically outperformed my guy last year.
I think that with the improved offensive line, with top monkey coming in who likes to
run a system that usually has three Y receivers and two runner backs in the backfield, I
think that he's going to have a defined carved out role this year, and it was really hard
for him to find that last season.
We see little spurs of him being able to show the explosiveness and the big playability,
and I just think that will be exploited a little bit more in top monkeys offense.
And so to me, Dylan Sapsing was the layup because he didn't have the statistical performance
of a quinshine or of a, who did he, usherdorsanders, and dog on shore of a hero fanning.
And so I think it'd be easier for Dylan Sapsing to make a significant leap from year one
of year two.
And put Samson's numbers back up, Earl, what do you think his numbers in 2026 will be?
If you're factoring in, he's going to take a jump.
So what do you think this, this looks like at this time next year?
So last year he finished with 271 receiving yards and two receiving touchdowns and 175
yards rushing.
I can see him somewhere between 650, 700 total yards and anywhere from 4 to 6 total yards.
Thank you for that.
They get that from him.
That's great.
That's, that's, that's, we'll, we'll stand an ovation for that, especially if him being
a, a primary third down back.
But I will give you this, Earl, you go back and watch the Cincinnati game.
He was very impressive catching the ball out of the back field, you know, he was a guy
that, you know, made a big play against the Raiders on a little rocket or tunnel screen.
So he, he's shown the ability.
I think he's the best cashing, catching back.
He made some plays against the Titans, um, with him Browns, we're, we're trying to get
back into that football game as well.
The other rookies we haven't mentioned, Dylan Gabriel, I don't think any of us think
he's going to start to recover and take a jump.
Carson Swaychinger, who just won defensive rookie of the year, he plays and takes a bigger
leap from year one to year two than any other Browns rookie we're looking at in all time
great linebacker.
He just turned himself, turned himself the Brian Erlecker.
Let's talk about Mason Graham, though, for a second, it's who I was going to go with
the forehand fan and obviously a good rookie season for, for Mason, maybe jump off the
screen statistically speaking, or want you to expect from a top five selected defensive
tackle.
But, gee Bush, where do you see the biggest jump Mason Graham could take in year number
two?
I actually, I actually think he's going to be a, well, I was going to pick him for my
guy before I took she to her Sanders, but I think the biggest thing is the functional
strength.
He'll gain, he lost a little bit of weight to get back and be able to be out there moving
around on the third downs and things like that.
It's really quick.
I think him playing 17 games will give him a lot of experience about the way the trenches
work.
I think he'll be working in all season.
So, I think he'll put some weight on and I think he'll make a tremendous step, especially
when it comes to playing the run.
Earl?
No, I was just going to say the Isaiah Bond is another rookie we didn't mention.
I just met two people from the NFL combine that, you know, other people in other places
than Jason, maybe you can add on to this real quick.
They kind of highlighted him as the one guy from the Browns receiving group that always
finding themselves getting behind the defense.
Yeah, I mean, his speed is reason why he's here.
So if you get a little bit better protection, a little bit better timing, he can, I don't
want to, I think he is who he is, but certainly he can carve out a role from himself on this
team.
He's the deep guy, you know, if you want to mind me.
Every team needs one.
We'll see if we can get him open.
All right, guys, it's time to hit our first break.
When we come back, we're switching sports, talking to a little Cavaliers.
They have 14 games left in the regular season.
Kenny Akkinson has to decide who's going to make his playoff rotation and who's going
to miss the cut.
We'll make our predictions next.
And welcome back to the Ultimate Cleveland Sports Show.
Mike McNuggets, G-Bush, Jason Loyal.
Let's talk a little calves, guys, with less than 15 games remaining in the regular season.
Kenny Akkinson and company are trying to finalize their playoff rotations.
Kenny said last year, I'd love to play 10 Jason, but it's most likely going to play nine.
If you play nine, that means you trust eight.
If you play eight, you trust seven, so on and so forth down the line.
But for the sake of this, let's build a nine-man playoff rotation for the Cavaliers.
We know at least the core force.
We don't have to discuss those.
Before the other five players in your mind, Jason, we'll start with you.
That would be in a playoff rotation for the Cavaliers if the regular season ended today.
Before we could do a group assignment, you just want to do this together and put one out.
Sure.
I mean, obviously, Max Drew's.
So Max is number five.
We're on a group that he is in there.
Kenny's already proven in his small time back.
He trusts him more than he trusts the other wins.
He's already been in closing lineups and two of those three games.
The organization likes them as well.
When they went out and signed them, no.
That's a big sign.
Dane.
Didn't you say it was the biggest free entry signing money-wise?
They've ever made it besides LeBron?
I have to go back and look what that sounds about, right?
It was very rare at the time for Cleveland to target one of the top free agents on the
market and to get them to come here.
Those are really big deals.
And it was a big money that I think it probably was.
It was four for 64 or 16 years.
Yeah, I think that probably was the biggest free agent that would come outside of LeBron
in terms of dollars.
So that's five.
So we have the core four plus Drew's at five.
Who would you pencil at number six?
Uh, I think Keon Ellis has a spot because I think he's the best perimeter defender and
if he's making threes, I'm not saying he's number six in line, right?
But I, but that's, that's the name that to me is on here.
Yeah, he's a versatile defender and he's been hitting shots lately, which Kenny has talked
about.
Hey, okay, he's knocking down shot.
If he can continue to knock down shots, he's a guy that is definitely on the, on the,
on the bus.
You think he's definitely, you think he's on the bus?
I think he's hit on this.
Yeah.
So I'm going to pivot to, because it's going to make the small makes sense.
Do you think Dean Wade's a lock?
No.
Because if Dean Wade's not a lock, then I think Keon is.
Yeah.
And I don't think Dean Wade's a lock.
But if Dean, if Dean Wade's not a lock, you're going into this knowing you don't have
a traditional backup big.
Yeah.
I said during the YouTube show, I would still start Dean because when he can give you defensively
and rebounding, but if he's not hitting shots and with Dean, he's trying to know right
away.
He's trying to know quickly, if it's there.
He's not, with this team, if you're not making shots, you cannot be on the floor.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah, I think Dean is borderline.
I think Kenny has a little bit of a track record with him and Dean has a track record
in the playoff.
If he's making shots, he, they'll play him.
But I would say kind of sort of not really.
So let me give you my nine real quick, because then we'll argue back and forth.
You have four starters.
You have struse.
Yeah.
Sam?
Yep.
I think Sam's going to be in it.
Yep.
That's on the floor.
Yeah.
Jalen?
Yes.
Yes.
Keon?
Yes.
And then that's where the Dean, Thomas Bryant, are you going with a big, or do you opt for
another guard like Dennis?
Well, when you're talking about the ninth guy, I think that's when it becomes matchup dependent.
Yes.
Who are you playing?
What are they running out there?
Who's in foul trouble?
Uh-huh.
Who's hurt?
So there's a lot that goes into it, but I think we're probably pretty close to alignment
on the top eight.
Yeah.
And then the ninth guy.
I have a hard time.
I don't think Thomas Bryant is in the rotation, but if you're playing, you may need another
big though.
Yeah.
They just don't have a lot of action.
And if he can get streaky from three, he can knock down a three point.
I think whoever is giving them the hustle points, the intangible stuff, the loose balls, whoever
between those two hitting the shots, a couple of weeks ago when they got them, I would
have said Dennis Schroeder.
He was the guy who was going to bring up.
But he turnovers, there's been some things getting into the offense.
I don't know, given what he's done the last two weeks, he's, I think it's between him
and Sam Merrill a little bit, and Sam, at least they respect the shot.
You've got to space the floor with that.
I think Sam is above Dennis.
I've said for a couple of weeks, I don't think Schroeder is in this rotation.
I don't know that he gives them anything that they can't find elsewhere, and I think
he can be too much of a liability sometimes with the shot selection.
I think Schroeder is on the outside looking in, but that doesn't mean he's not going to
play.
I'll go back to the finals run, the championship run, Dante Jones, a guy who came out of
nowhere was the late pick up in the season and made two or three impact plays that swung
a finals game.
So there's always going to be pockets and moments for guys like Thomas Bryant or Schroeder
whoever.
And those two fall into the exact same category.
And I said this as soon as they acquired Dennis, I was on the radio with Earl this past
week and said, it's about Thomas Bryant.
They can win your playoff game in a four minute stretch.
They can lose you a playoff game in a four minute stretch.
Thomas Bryant, the beauty of Thomas Bryant, it doesn't matter if it's game seven in the
NBA finals or the third game in the regular season.
TB is playing exactly how TB is like if you leave him open, there's not a second in
his mind that says, maybe this isn't a great shot.
Kenny was miced up, he said, hey, Thomas shoot that.
Yeah, when you get that rotate it shoot that like he has no conscience.
I don't go on a playoff game.
He can go three for four from three in a stretch and swing the momentum of a game.
We saw him do it against the last.
Like the cast last year.
I was like, what was this guy?
He's also just as likely to go over four and have us come in the next day and say, why
in the world did Kenny Ackinson not full Thomas Bryant earlier?
Schroeder is the same way.
Schroeder with his defensive intensity, his ball pressure, can force a couple of steals
in the back court, lead to some easy buckets, make a few floaters.
He played in the game.
I believe it was Detroit in the overtime game they lost where he had like 25 points.
Yeah.
Because the game Jared Allen found that late in the fourth quarter.
He had 25 points, I think seven assists, six assists, but eight turnovers.
Yeah.
And some of those turnovers late were back breaking turnovers that you simply can't
have.
The one thing that Schroeder has going for him is outside of Donovan and outside of James
Harden.
All those other wings we just mentioned, Struce, Keon, Sam, Jalen, Dean, if you didn't want
to throw them in there, they can handle the ball.
They're not ball handlers.
There's a difference.
There's a difference.
And there are levels to this.
James and Don are up here.
Dennis is here.
Jalen Tyson is here.
Sam Merrill, Keon and Dean Wade, not necessarily in that order, are down there.
Against Indiana, game two last year, Jason.
What was the thing that Killie and Gabeliers could not do?
Get the ball over half court.
Do you know who can get the ball over half court?
Shooter.
Dennis Schroeder.
So there are times and matchups I do believe that Schroeder and Thomas Bryant have specific
roles.
But in the big picture for making a giant, let's make a playoff rotation.
I just don't know how they're over some of the other guys right now.
Yeah.
There's a couple of, I think we as a consensus, we got most of the same guys.
I think that last guy is matchup dependent.
Go back to the 16, Mo Williams hit a couple of big threes, but he wasn't even in a rotation.
JR hit some threes.
So against really, I would rather have the thing about Schroeder is going for him is,
he don't have a conscious.
He's not scared.
He's not scared and he will be scrappy.
He's not going back down.
And you need that grit in certain, certain series.
Would you rather have the optionality that the calves have right now in different guys
they can plug in place or would you rather have a defined set unquestion to start top eight
and the story?
No, I think it's better to have flexibility with it because if you have a top eight that
means your other seven aren't very good.
So and then if what happens if there's a hamstring or a guy turns an ankle, you got foul
trouble, nice, got to dip into, and the 18 calves team had that where there was a line
of demarcation where these were the core guys who were here from championship air before
who they relied heavily on.
And then there was a big gap with everybody else at the Rodney Hoads and the Jordan Clarkson's
and the guys who were brought in here to play a role and they just couldn't do that.
So I think it's much better to have flexibility, to have a lot of your toolbox where you
can go to paint on what a game dictates.
And veteran, Stu's ain't going to be scared he didn't play there before.
Shooter, Bryant, those guys have been there.
The only guy you kind of worried about is Jaylen Tyson a little bit, but he's a guy that
doesn't get to show that he's afraid of him all the time.
He ain't backing down.
He ain't backing down from the Bryant.
He said, I want to guard Luca, he said, I want to guard, Bryant, I want to guard their
best player.
His exact putt was, I fear no man, he's not a guy that I'm worried about kind of shrinking
in the playoffs.
More about getting him back to the Jaylen Tyson.
We saw it last night.
He was really good against the Bulls last night before he suffered a toe injury in the
fourth quarter.
Hopefully it's just a minor landed, weird, iffy thing Jaylen said it was too painful
to come back in.
So hopefully a speedy recovery for Jaylen Tyson as the calves get ready for their playoff
push.
We'll take another break when we come back guys.
It is March Madness, we are talking tournament, upset and more all that coming up in two minutes
right here on the Ultimate Cleveland Sports Show.
Welcome back to the Ultimate Cleveland Sports Show here on WKYC.
Guys March Madness is one of the best times of the entire year.
I got off work yesterday and watched 10 hours of basketball.
Did not move.
Did not feel bad about it.
One bit.
It was your favorite moment from yesterday's first day of the tournament which featured some
incredible upsets in games.
Well listen man, I got to go back to Shoutout to my Mac dude, shoutout to Miami of Ohio.
They messed around in that Mac tournament a couple of days ago in the first four.
They come back and you win a game, by the way, Miami of Ohio, I was like yeah you're going
to get smoked first round.
You generally speaking when you don't get the automatic big, you mess up your stacks, you
go in there and you do your thing.
I like the fact that Duke almost lost.
That was fun.
I mean, it ain't a loss but it gave me a lot of feeling about March Madness and then you
told me the team that I thought was going to win.
I said North Carolina is going to be a dark horse and you told me last week that's not
happening.
They got smoked.
So March Madness starts off with a bang but I'm rooting for the Mac schools.
Super Davis could be out.
North Carolina.
He should be.
The boot in 19 point lead.
19.
The favorite moment from yesterday has to be high point being in Wisconsin.
And the shots that they made at the end, the student broadcast of course went viral.
It's all over the place.
That guy's phenomenal.
At the end of their conference tournament, his clip from that went, this kid's got to
be what?
21, 22 years old.
He's going to walk into a pretty good job.
He's off of this postseason run for them and you love the upsets anyway without the great
calls to go with it.
So high point knocking off Wisconsin would be it for me.
And how about number 99 chased on Johnson?
That's his first basket.
No, first two point basket.
Yeah.
This guy is my dream.
This is what I aspire to be in my men's league on Sunday.
So what I tried to be in college.
This year, he had attempted four two point shots all season.
He had made zero.
He plays 20 plus minutes of gaming.
He's taking 160 something, 30 is like a 45% three point shooter.
He had the one shot yesterday, not the game winner.
The pull up three and half transition from the logo that the ball hit the back of the
rim and went, like, right it.
It was the fastest I've ever seen a ball go through the net and hit the ground.
And you do at that moment, oh, you got to catch fire.
Then he had a curl on the, I guess it would be the right wing if you're looking at it
on TV.
Off a down screen in front of the Wisconsin bench, and then down one high point gets the
block throws it ahead.
And this kid makes his first two pointers since February of last season of 20, 25 to beat
Wisconsin and pull off the upset.
Fun fact about high point, they have an ice cream truck that just drives around on campus
gives out students free ice cream.
I see some crazy stuff about they have a, they've built an airplane simulator because they
want their students to be able to be comfortable having a conversation with the CEO on a plane
if they happen to be, if they just happen to be on a plane sitting next to a CEO, like,
I need to see this campus.
It's tight, but tuition ain't got right.
I don't know, but they have ice cream truck that just delivers ice cream.
They have the simulator.
Sienna almost beat Duke.
There's the first 16 to lead a number one seed by double digits at half time.
They played their starters.
Did you see this?
No.
They didn't play any bench players till 10 seconds left in the second half when one of
the starters fell down.
It's the only reason they went to their bench.
And they almost pulled it off.
VCU came back from 19 down to beat Chris Carolina, Texas upset BYU, Miami plays tonight against
Tennessee, Akron plays Texas Tech today, Michigan won, Ohio State lost the worst, worst
end of game shot.
We got 30 seconds on this, but the worst end of game shot I've ever seen from Ohio State.
Four and a half seconds and you get a slow walk of half-court, he, like, you got to be
better than me.
Yeah.
I did.
I did.
I did.
I did.
I think there's a lot of truth to what he was saying.
Unfortunately.
There is, but it was still a terrible shot.
Like, both things I think are true at the same time.
Yeah.
You're gonna find out thoughts on Ohio State.
Listen, you can't end a game like that.
I was just like, you guys deserve to lose, bro.
That's the only shot you really drew that up.
Yep.
That was it?
Come on, man.
Not good enough.
Let's take a look at some things going on around Ohio this weekend.
Shout out to Marcus Johnson from Garfield, Tai Chi.
Just won his second consecutive Mr. Basketball in the state of Ohio.
The boys high school state basketball champions, uh, championships are going on today, Glenville,
playing for a state title this afternoon.
And the NCAA wrestling championships are taking place at Rocket Arena all weekend.
Great attendance.
Over 16,000 fans there yesterday for the first day of the championships.
If you're looking for something to do this weekend, a couple of great events going on.
You know, the great state of Ohio.
Four of them.
Shout out to Sonny Johnson.
You were a wrestler.
No.
Absolutely not.
The conditioning is brutal.
Uh, Marcus Johnson's legit though, second straight Mr. Basketball in the state of Ohio.
Shout out to him.
And I believe now he's one of just a few to ever win two Mr. Basketball.
So that's gonna do it for us here on the Ultimate Cleveland Sports Show on WKYC.
We'll see you on Monday.
New time.
10 a.m. to 12.
We'll see you there.
Peace.
