Why Patrick Clancy Can't Win Either Side

About this episode

The Lindsay Clancy trial has produced a second trial that's happening entirely online — and Patrick Clancy is the one standing in the dock. Robin Dreeke, retired FBI behavioral analyst, and psychotherapist Shavaun Scott join Tony Brueski to break down how two very different corners of the internet reached the same conclusion about a man neither prosecutors nor the defense has ever accused. TikTok watched testimony about a windowsill blood stain and had a full scene constructed by nightfall — Patrick pushing Lindsay through the window. New photos of his second wife got set beside old photos of Lindsay, and a wedding that happened three years after his children died turned into a theory about replacement. Elsewhere, the fight has split by gender: men on X pushing for Lindsay to face maximum punishment with no interest in her psychosis defense, women on Threads and Instagram calling Patrick a narcissist and invoking the name Chris Watts. He testified, in his own words, that he wasn't married to a monster. Dreeke and Scott explain how a medical symptom — a voice Lindsay said she heard — got reinterpreted online as evidence against her husband instead, why remarriage became proof of guilt to two audiences reading it in opposite directions, and what all of it does to a father who buried three children and then had to defend himself to strangers who were never in that courtroom.
