Basil Rathbone

Basil Rathbone was a British actor who was best known for his portrayal of Sherlock Holmes in a series of films and radio plays. He was born on May 2, 1892, in Southwark, London, England, and died on July 21, 1967, in New York City, New York, USA. Rathbone was a member of the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and appeared in numerous stage productions throughout his career. He was also a talented voice actor and provided the voice of Sherlock Holmes in several radio plays and films.
