Child psychologist and psychoanalyst
Bruno Bettelheim was an Austrian-American child psychologist and psychoanalyst. He is best known for his work on the psychological significance of fairy tales. Bettelheim was born in Vienna, Austria in 1903 and studied medicine at the University of Vienna. He later moved to the United States and worked at the Harvard Medical School. Bettelheim was a prominent figure in the field of child psychology and wrote several influential books on the subject. He was also a vocal critic of the use of psychoanalysis in treating children.
