Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz was a German philosopher and mathematician who lived in the 17th and 18th centuries. He is widely recognized as one of the most influential thinkers of the Enlightenment and made significant contributions to many fields, including mathematics, philosophy, and science. Leibniz is best known for his work on calculus, which he developed independently of Isaac Newton. He also made significant contributions to the study of logic, metaphysics, and ethics. Leibniz was a prolific writer and published many works during his lifetime. He is also known for his diplomatic career and served as a diplomat for the Duchy of Hanover. Leibniz died in 1716 at the age of 75.
