Robert Mugabe was a Zimbabwean politician and revolutionary who served as the country's Prime Minister from 1980 to 1987 and as President from 1987 to 2017. He was a key figure in the fight against colonialism and played a significant role in the country's transition to independence. Mugabe was also a prominent figure in the African National Congress and was a close ally of Nelson Mandela.
