(09/04) Traci Park responds to Nithya’s Palisades efforts

And when I need to talk with her, I just say, come on then. Come on the show with me. And Tracy represents the West Side of Los Angeles. Council District 11, if you have a map at home, includes the palisades.

1:01And today, well, interesting. Nithya Rahman showed up in the palisades. I think for the first time since the fire, listen to this clip and then we're going to talk to Tracy. I'm running for mayor now because I feel at the citywide level, that same sense of an urgency unmet by leadership in a city hall. And I saw it here in the fires. This Brian said why were fire trucks predipulated when the city knew that there had been a fire there the week prior and the turns out they knew that that fire hadn't been fully put out. And in the aftermath of the fire, the recovery to me feels like it has been inexcusably slow. I hear from residents and I have the opportunity of touring the neighborhoods and speaking to many residents, including friends of mine who lost their homes. And they hear what every other candidate in this space has said, which is that the city has let them down. I don't want to let you down. I feel an urgency to show up. I want to meet you with the same urgency that you feel for recovery.

2:05It's good Tracy Park on the actual councilwoman in that district for the palisades. Wow. It almost sounded like she was the councilwoman in the palisades, not you. Yeah, hi, John. Nice to chat with you. You know, I I've heard the remarks and I've seen some of her recent posts and statements and candidate forums and you know, my reaction at first is really simple. Where the hell have you been for the last year and a half? And you know, in the aftermath of the fires in, you know, those first few days, especially nearly all of my colleagues on the council came in person to stand in solidarity and to bear witness and to understand what was ahead. Not just for the palisades, but for the entire city and did the out was not one of them.

3:10She never came never, not during the never, not during the fire, not during those first awful weeks, not through the months where residents were dealing with debris removal and all the insurance issues and with the utilities trying to figure out how to get them restored. You know, she found a way to make it over to boil heights during the lineage fire and now she has apparently been able to find time as a candidate for mayor to start making some campaign stop and talking about these issues, but to this day, John. She has never once asked me as the council member who has been on the ground from day one, what is needed, what people are struggling with. No private. What the mayor's office could do to be more helpful. So she hasn't had any private conversations with you in your office in the hallway.

4:13Not once, not really, not ever and not once and she has launched her her campaign for mayor and I'm sorry, but that is insulting and you know the politics has been through enough. They don't need politicians discovering their suffering and the challenges they're dealing with only when it becomes politically useful and councilwoman. She is a member of this council. She has been at the table the entire time she has watched me bring forward measure after measure dealing with this recovery, dealing with emergency preparations, dealing with financial relief, trying to grow our fire department, dealing with the accountability. She has never said a word, never asked a question, never once offered to help, never. That's astounding considering how much business, you know, the city council had to deal with in the aftermath of the fire.

5:17And she she's there. She showed up like this just happened on Saturday and she's there to. She's there for political expedience and you know, I take what I take real issue with that. Putting out policy platform that is literally already what I'm doing and I think frankly what she has done as a council member ought to be a cautionary tale. She refuses to deal with nuisance properties. She consistently votes to allow dangerous encampments in our parks and around our libraries. She refuses to expand our no camping laws to cover our critical infrastructure or even the very high fire severity zone when we already know that encampment fires are a daily risk in our city. She wants us to get rid of our cameras, which is literally the last thing holding the line in the policies, which is already exposed and vulnerable and seeing a huge uptick in bird blearies from standing home and construction lots.

6:34You know, she is part of that Mike Bonn and DSA crowd that doesn't want to hold criminals accountable that wants to defund our LAPD and she is dead set on eliminating single family neighborhoods in Los Angeles. Yes. Which is most of the west side. That is a lot of goal. I mean, you told me a while back that she had never shown up and I didn't know if you met that literally but literally she never showed up and never spoke with you privately and never did anything to help you with all the legislation that needed to be passed to do whatever has been done so far. I mean, that's astonishing. It is and that's why I think it's time and important to set the record straight about what is going on here that this is just pure political expediency.

7:34This is not stemming from some genuine care or concern about the policy is residents or about the underlying issues themselves. I'll give you a perfect example. I have legislation pending that addresses SB 747, which requires cities to assess their evacuation routes in connection with their planning for new density, something that is extremely important. Certainly in CD 11 in places like Brentwood and the Palisades where we have so many substandard narrow roads and limited ingress in egress. But in her own district like the Hollywood Hills that has similar capacity issues with evacuation routes similar fire risks. She has never once even asked me about it. John. There are a lot of tight roads and nobody else.

8:37Yeah, when their turn comes, there's going to be the same kind of chaos because those are exceptionally narrow roads. Well, and you remember when we had to evacuate Brentwood at the end of the first week of the Palisades fire getting out of there was a gridlocked nightmare. And you'll recall right around the same time we had to evacuate in Hollywood as well. Yeah. And sunset was a gridlocked just nightmare. And so to share similar experiences and geographies and challenges and to express absolutely zero interest or support around those issues that are very, very real for residents across the area. It's just astounding to me to see someone now pretending like they care when they haven't lifted a finger.

9:38And frankly, she's been in office for the last six years. Yeah. Yeah. And she runs the homeless committee or did up until recently and she's acting like she's just discovered all those problems too. And we wonder why we can't fill the hot pot holes or turn the lights back on in the Palisades post disaster because we have thrown a billion dollars a year at this homeless boom doggle and watched our city tax dollars disappeared down a black hole. And so if you want to have a referendum on leadership here in city hall, I think frankly when you look at her record and the body of the work, it's not in the best interest of the Palisades certainly see the 11 and frankly, I think the rest of the city. Tracy, thank you for coming on and telling everybody about that because they need to know. But Nithya ramen is never shown up in the Palisades in the year and a half since the terrible fire happened she showed up today acting like it. Wow, jeez look at this.

11:46Not in California. Not doing his governor work. No. He is campaigning for president. He's got a full blown campaign going rather than be here in Los Angeles where we are suffering from. Dreadful numbers of crazy people in the streets, mental patients, drug addicts, people dropping their pants and leaving their piles of excrement all over the town. It's not helping with that. He ought to be here with a shovel cleaning up all the poop from the homeless that he allows to run to realize to run a mock around here. Instead, he's in South Carolina trying to promote himself as having done such a great job. He ought to be president. And he had one he had one of his stenographers who also doubles as a reporter for the San Francisco Chronicle.

12:50Some of them named Sophia Bolog. Yeah, now all the major media outlets have hired stenographers from Newsom's office to write the articles. And it said here, most of the crowd that gathered Thursday morning in a small church community room in Hardyville, were fans of Gavin Newsom eager to take a photo with the California governor and likely presidential candidate. Now, who, why would you be in Hardyville, South Carolina? It'd be a fan of Gavin Newsom. Did they watch the news at all? Do they see what's going on here? And it says here he pitched himself to South Carolinians yesterday as a fighter eager to tangle with Trump and the Republicans. Trump will not be in office if God forbid he became president. Newsom.

13:55Trump's out of office. He's running against the guy who's going to be a ghost. It's stupid, but this was a 93 IQ. This is at a church. And then he went to a cultural center on St Helena Island. And it says here, sympathetically. Sophia said sympathetically the governor struggles with dyslexia. And he doesn't read from prepared remarks. He was just bragging the other day about all the books he has in his wine cellar. He didn't know he had a wine cellar that held 5,000 bottles. As far as he know, he put his book collection down there. I'm thinking book collection. He can't read. Well, Sophia, the stenographer assures us he really can't read. And so every one of his speeches is a little different because he's not reading from script.

14:56It's like, well, thank you, Sophia. I mean, so understanding. Good journalism. But Sophia, she found a winner. Michelle Ashby. She showed up with a Newsom for president 2028 pin that she bought on Amazon. And Michelle said she became aware, by the way, you may wretch when you hear this part. Okay. I'm just giving you a, I'm giving you a trigger warning. It made trigger vomiting. But Michelle Ashby first became aware of Newsom and his politics during the COVID pandemic when he was the first governor to shut his stake down. Ashby, who works in healthcare, thought he made the right decisions, even though he faced intense criticism. If I could, I would pay for a round trip ticket to Michelle Ashby and come here and talk to the tens of thousands of business owners whose businesses were destroyed by the shutdown.

16:02And we could also talk to the parents of all the kids whose kids became disconnected from the world and enjoyed their childhood and adolescence to a screen and learn nothing and became disconnected socially, damaged to this day. What these, you know, these healthcare women, a lot of them. They, they're the ones who joined these far left wing union unions and they're always screaming for more tax money for these single, single pair Medicare for all type plans where the government's gonna run everything and pay for everything. Well, I mean healthcare and he did the right thing. No, he didn't. He run a lot of people's lives. If you were healthy and under the age of 65,

17:06it's extremely rare that anybody died. It was total nuts, total crazy propaganda. It was another social contagion. It's about as crazy as the women who were wearing pink and screaming for Lindsey Clancy. Maybe they're all healthcare workers. I don't know. I've liked him since the very beginning she said, sing him in the news. I kept thinking I want him to be president. Oh, yeah, yeah, they had to take her vote away. At the event on St. Helena Island dozens of people lined up under trees to see new some speak at the site of an outclose school that served formerly enslaved people. Is that the new euphemism? It didn't house slaves. It's formerly enslaved people. How did that, that's the first time I've seen that one. How did they come up this stuff? He was delayed by traffic so supporters waited around for an hour.

18:07Waiting an hour for Gavin Newsom. As very disturbing. I gotta go see what new some buttons are selling for in Amazon. When we come back, the big lie looks like a non-newsomestinographer got a chance to write an article for Politico on a housing claim that he made. He claimed that since he's been governor, a lot of housing has been built in California and he was way, way, way off because he way, way lied. We'll talk about it. We come back. 19:09Two rounds of the voice line next hour. There you go. All the different ways you can follow this nonsense. We got the big new some lie. I always enjoy these because he'll tell a wapper. In this case, it is September now. This wapper was told back in February. Most of the reporters on the local and national scene are idiots, sycophants, ass kissing stenographers. Newsom can say whatever he wants. He gets reprinted. It gets clipped. Sent on social media. Goes on the news shows. And nobody questions it. It was hardly a single reporter that ever follows up to see. Is this true? So let's take you back to June. I'm sorry. This is happening June. So this took three months to correct. Gavin Newsom came down here, Southern California, Long Beach.

20:09It's on a stage. There's an audience of mayors from across the country. And this is what he announced. Play cut seven. We've seen a 59% increase in the number of homes constructed since 2019 and 56% reduction in the time to permitting since 2019. We're finally moving on the other side of it. 59% reduction, a 59% increase in the number of homes constructed. 59% increase. 56% reduction in permitting times. And now the truth. According to Politico, it was not a 59% increase in homes constructed over the last eight years. It was 18%. So it was less than a third of what he claimed. And according to one expert, it's a pretty basic error.

21:14See, not all the cities had issued data. Not all the counties that issued data. So there was a lot of data missing. And when you included all of California, instead of just certain segments of California, it turned out the increase in construction over eight years was only 18%, which for eight years is not very much. That's a trickle of new homes. I hear people carping. I know what to do. You know, so much of it is just illiteracy. They can't read. I think the official term is enumeracy. Or you could say they're economically illiterate. They just don't know stuff. And they complain about stuff. And then they want the government to do stuff. And then they want socialism. And they want communism. Here's the thing. If the price of housing is generally too high, and it is really high,

22:18there's no question. It is record level high has been for a long time. And most people can't afford to buy a new home. The price of the home is really high. The price of the mortgage is really high. To save money for the down payment is very difficult. Because if you're renting, the rentals are really high. And a lot of people are in the box. Now, you don't want to know the big cause of this is baby boom generation is not dying off. Other generations died off earlier and more regularly. But the baby boomers really do want to live forever. And for practical purposes, they are living forever. There is a huge difference between most people in a generation checking out when they're about 70, like they used to. And now it seems like there's a lot of people living, you know, the 8590. Well, that's an extra 15 or 20 years in the house. So that's far fewer homes available. Seriously, the biggest, the largest wealth any generation

23:21has ever had in the history of the universe to our knowledge, is this baby boom generation. When they die off, the largest transfer of wealth, trillions and trillions of dollars, is going to be from the baby boomers to their children. So they're like a, it's like a stopped dream. It's like a plugged dream. They're not going down the drain. They're not leaving. So people keep, young people keep getting older, getting married, having babies, need more room. You want to have a house. You're making some money. You feel like you deserve a house. You should have a house by now. You can't get a house because the baby boomers won't die. It's really hard to move economically because, and this is not an knock on prop 13. This is a good thing about prop 13, but your property tax is really low comparatively. If you've held onto your house for 25, 30, 40, 50 years, right?

24:24You don't want to just move to a smaller home, even necessarily, because going to a smaller home, the property tax is going to be higher than the bigger home you have now. Trust me, I know this. And then you have people, people have a two and three quarter percent mortgage rate. A lot of them do. Well, why would you trade that in for a seven percent mortgage? Why would you trade in your house, even if you wanted a smaller one, to pay more in property tax and pay a much higher mortgage rate, and wipe out the savings you'd make from the monthly savings you'd make from moving to a smaller house? So if you're going to have people living in their 80s and 90s, and you're going to have the property tax rate suddenly exploding when you move, and you got the mortgage rates being much higher than what you currently have, there's not going to be any movement. The only thing you can do, short of a vast genocide of baby boomers,

25:26is to build homes, build them like crazy, build them everywhere. Well, now you run into the regulation wall, the environmental lunatics. Well, you can't build hair, and you can't build there, and you can't build here, you can't build there. In fact, this isn't dangerous. Well, they can't build anywhere. And if you do want to build, oh my God, we've had this in the palisades. Have it in Alton, Dana, so much red tape, so many regulations, so many permit fees, so many idiot, bulb-headed bureaucrats. It's exhausting before you even start. Now, if you're a developer, you're a real staker. You don't have to play here. There's 49 other states. You can go to 49 other states, and nearly all of them are much easier than California. Why should they build if you were a developer? Do you build here and put up with this crap? Well, you know, if you're going to build here,

26:26then you've got to build some affordable housing. It's like, after you're affordable housing. You got Arizona, you got Nevada, you got a Tennessee, Florida, Texas, any of those places. So at Newsom knows this, he's responsible for this clogged up housing situation, because it was under his reign for eight years that all these regulations spun out of control. So it's easier for him just to go on a stage in Long Beach and stay in front of a conference of mayors. Oh, housing is up 59%. No, it's 18% over the last eight years. It's a trickle. You live by a factor of three plus on that one. Of course, the mayors don't know any better. Most of them are dumb as rocks. The journalists don't know any better because they would take too much effort to figure it out. But yeah, political figure to add after three months.

27:29The guy is such a failure and such a lying stinking failure. It's hysterical. It's actually comical. And now he's in South Carolina. He's on this tour of Southern States and praising the Southern States. But when we come back, we'll play what he used to say about the Southern States, because somebody online who's good at this put together a montage of previous speeches where he was dissing Midwestern and Southern States. 28:34of Lindsey Clancy, the woman who cruelly snuffed out the lives of her three children, wrapping an exercise band around their innocent necks, killing all three, and this jury wanted to let her go by 11 to one. And one guy said no. On the other side were nine women and two other men. And the women wanted to let her go after murdering her kids. And there was a long line of hundreds of other crazed women out in the streets wearing their stupid pink and cheering on the killer. It's... You'd think it was like a sicko dystopian fantasy movie but this is life in America these days. But that one guy stood up and said, I'm not going along with it. Of course, he's getting pilloried. Oh, he's probably going to get chased and beaten and burned a group of pink clad lunatics. So that's coming up with Lusha Piro, the defense attorney after five o'clock.

29:36All right, let me play you. This is entertaining. Newsom is on this tour of the South and he also is going to be targeting Midwest. The primary season is going to start wetting about 16 months and he's trying to get in on South Carolina because that's got the first... It's got the first primary on the Democratic side, probably on January, February of 20, 28. It's closer than you think. And so now he's trying to kiss up and suck up and make friends with all the people in the South. The thing is he used to mock Southern states, Midwestern states, governors. They were all to deplorables. And now he's trying to peel off some votes. Let me play you a clip.

30:36This is about a minute. It's a montage. Someone on the internet who goes by maze. It was a collection of videos. Some of them old because he had... I realize now he's been dying his hair most of the time. There's just another aspect to his fraudulent existence. I thought it was kind of weird how quickly he went gray. It looked like it had a matter of days and it's like, I didn't even think of it. Of course, yeah, he's been browning his hair with all kinds of dyes and goops for a long time. Some of these clips go back into the mid teens. Anyway, here's what he used to say about Midwest states, Southern states, and governors of these states. There's the American dream. And then there's the California dream. I'm not aware of the Kansas dream, the Kentucky dream, the Alabama dream. This is a state where 27% of us are foreign born.

31:36No other state can lay claim to that. We are America's coming attraction, California. There's the American dream. And the California dream. There's no Alabama dream. Eat your heart out, Texas. Tennessee and Florida. This is California to those conservative governors out there, Greg Abbott. And others, there is dumb as they want to be. And they're just doubling down on stupid and we will not follow their path. We're going in a completely different direction. Texas, of course, is expanding rapidly. Many California businesses right up to Elon Musk with Tesla and SpaceX have moved to Texas. And California is shrinking badly, not only in businesses, but in population. And they're fleeing to Texas, to Florida, to Tennessee.

32:39All places to see these demonizing, that's where Californians have gone. The California way sucks. It's filled with feces and needles and vomit and people dying in the streets. Fire-revaged cities, rotting meat. You name it. And he's behind much of it. But all along the way, those clips were from all along the way when he was governor. When he was completely full of himself, and he thought California was cool. And he was just strutting around. But California's not cool anymore. California's embarrassing. And I know this firsthand. I used to tell people who lived in California when I was back east. Wow! Now, honestly, they scowl. I go, what are you doing there? Newsome acts like there aren't newscasts or isn't an internet.

33:39Everybody's on to what he's done. Everybody can see it. The California way is disgusting. Safety uses, safety actually runs on the California way versus the American way, versus the way Florida and Texas and Tennessee is governed. Oh, I see. Bet you, he wouldn't say any of that now.
