Top headlines across the entire world of sports. How about this one? This one gets even crazier. We'll head out to Los Angeles where a federal investigation has been opened in the LA Clippers for allegedly circumventing the NBA salary cap to compensate Kauai Leonard. This according to the New York Times, just yesterday, criminal investigation led by the US attorney's office for the Eastern District of New York and Brooklyn is in its earliest stages. Spokesperson for the US attorney's office did not immediately respond to a crest for comment. Neither did a spokesperson for the
Clippers or the NBA. But the investigation obviously follows nearly a year long look into the Clippers by the law firm Watchell, Lipton, Rosen and Katz. That's a long name. Maybe they should shorten that one up. Give me that one more time. Watchell, Lipton, Rosen and Katz. Oh yeah, those guys. Big sandwich guys. If you've ever seen suits, yeah, you know it. Watchell, Lipton, Rosen and Katz. They're the big dogs on the block, Jordan. Absolutely. Don't want to mess around with that law firm. That was a long meeting by the way. It was guys, we can't put all the partners names in the firm's name. Do you think they've fought about whose names first? I cannot emphasize enough. Yes. Watchell, Lipton, Rosen and Katz. Maybe we should lead with Katz. No, we definitely cannot lead with Katz. Guys, you know how they have like Katz's delicate test in Manhattan. What if we just went with Katz's law firm? No, nobody?
No, okay. Crickets inside that room. My bad, okay. They found a pattern of misconduct in multiple significant rules violations by the Clippers Organization, a prior offender of the salary cap, Sir Convention rules. So Jordan being new to after the punishment. Now it sounds like there's going to be a probe from federal investigators. And this could get a lot messier for everybody involved. You know, it's the fascinating part of this. One of the many aspects is that the company or one of the companies I suppose that was involved with this is the company that builds scoreboards for MBA teams, including the Clippers. MBA other MBA teams cannot be super thrilled that this company that they do business with basically cheated and maybe broke the law in helping the Clippers. You know what I'm saying? Yeah. Like this has to hurt business for
the company. If I were to another MBA team, I would not be happy. It's not a good situation all around and that sounds like there might be further criminal charges that could come from this investigation. We will keep our eye on it and keep you up to date either way. Jordan, there was college football last night. Did you turn it on? I did not. Over on the ACC network, the Miami Hurricanes ended up winning 77 to seven. They put up 856 yards and got 42 first downs. Good Lord. Against Florida A&M. She's Florida A&M. That game should have never been played. They shortened the fourth quarter to just 10 minutes after both coaches agreed to it. 77 to 7. Between Miami and Florida A&M. That's a lot of yards, Jordan B&G. 856 total yards and 42 first downs. Oh God, we played that one. That's that's that is wow. Okay. There you go.
And you asked me if I turned it on. I'm just wondering if you flipped over if you were a sicko like the rest of us, but I understand. I understand. I know something you were watching last night. How about Volpy? Oh yeah. With the Grand Slam, a career high five RBIs as the Yankees. And in his return to the big leagues, basically, right? Yeah. It was a rousing return from AAA as the Yankees knocked off the Colorado Rockies 10 to 3. I thought it was in bad taste when Volpy hit the Grand Slam when Boone turned around in the dugout dugout to the Grandstand and that did the double birds to everybody. I thought that was important. Yeah. He complaints a lot about jazz chism and the sucker in the mouth and the pit. Maybe he should get that under control first, huh? I don't know. I don't see where you're going with that one. No, no, you're not you're not on board with that one. No, I, but I read his lips. I said as soon as that ball left Volpy's bad, he looked and he looked
straight down the barrel of the camera and said, bleep you John boy. And I was like, come on. Come on. Read my lips on this one, John boy. How do you like? How do you like them apples, John boy? Hey, the pirates. That was impressive last night. The pirates were impressive. How about Jared Jones? I'm going to see him next week. He did it one week tour. They hopefully they let him go the distance next week. We should probably tell people what happened if you weren't locked in on Pirates Why it sucks Jared Jones no hitter through seven six and six and two thirds six and two thirds. Yeah, he didn't get the last out of the seventh inning. That's right. No hitter through six and two thirds and then got rocked for a double. Yeah, but hey, two nothing went for the pirates Montgomery makes it interesting in the ninth. He's a he's fun to watch in the sense that you don't know what's going to happen. That is not it's not fun to watch. It's not. They traded away David Bednar for what? What did they get in that deal? Right. Exactly for what? This is my question. And now they don't have a closer. They don't even have
a pole pen. So it doesn't matter. I'll tell you what the pirates I think lose that game last night if you don't have a loud Brandon Lau play in second base. Absolutely. There were two great plays by him at second at the night. Brandon Lau actually has been one of the best baseball players of Major League Baseball. Nobody would know it because he's in Pittsburgh. Well, if you don't play fantasy like I Brandon Lau's a great player because he played with Tampa Bay for a long time. And if you don't play like fantasy baseball or you're not locked in on the race, yeah, you forget he's a really, really good player. Really good. Pittsburgh pirates, four and a half out of the final NL wild card spot San Diego sits in it currently. They're a half game up on Arizona. Who's it? Okay, you go tell me who Arizona has this weekend because the giants play San Diego so they can help you out. Yeah, I'm really really holding out on the giants helping us out here. The giants are their crews and right now. How about the Texas Rangers at home? Arizona hotel. Okay. All right. Hey, there's a shot. There's a chance here. The problem is the pirates just put their best pitcher in the rotation currently.
And this will surprise you. Brandon Ashcraft on the IELs. So I don't know if they're going to get there. Right arm discomfort out of the rotation. He had the best DRA on the team this year. That's yeah, that's not that surprises you. Not Paul schemes. Nope. Brandon Ashcraft. Now he's been good. Yeah, they came for the pirates today in Chicago. There you go. One more and then then they're going to be so I'll be watching Jared Jones throw against Jacob Mizorowski. Are you serious? Yeah, coming up on Wednesday September the 16th in Pittsburgh. I hope that's cool. I'm going to go that's cooler. Right now in this moment, that's cooler than scene schemes. Scenes is going to pitch two days later against Kansas City, which is laying. They need to scratch him from a Chicago start on Saturday. Just get him out of there and move him to the Tuesday start against Gasser. And that's a perfect lineup right there for me. That's that'll be cool. You see Mizorowski. That's really cool. We'll see how it goes. All right. We'll take a break. Those are your top headlines around the world. The sports are friend. Jank eats. The movie critic
comes up your way. Next, a lot of great movies coming out this weekend that you can go and see. We'll talk about those and more. It's right here on Bryson B. Anucia on one on three nine and ninety eight three ESPN. The fan. I'm Gabrielle Eastboro and these years, wants headlines for Friday morning. The San Francisco 49ers can claim the first ever NFL win in Australia, beating the Rams 27 to seven in front of a crowd of more than 100,000. Perdi's under center. He takes. He wants Evans. He just puts it up. Give it to Mike. Mike's got it. He pulled it in for his first touchdown. 49ers. Mike Evans. Brock Perdi threw for 205 yards. Three touchdowns and one interception while the Niners defense held the Rams to a single score ending a 42 game streak of scoring in double digits. Patriots wide receiver, AJ Brown is expected to miss four weeks with a high ankle sprain. That's according to NFL networks. Ian Rappapore Brown, who the Patriots brought in this offseason to
be quarterback Drake Mays main target went down early in the third quarter of the Pats eventual 13-10 loss to the defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks. Now marginally better news for those Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold is expected to miss just week two after sustaining a hip injury in the first series of that game. Drew Locke will start if Darnold remains out. The US Open Women's Final is set. Arena Savalanka will get a chance at a three-peat and some immediate revenge. She'll meet Elena Rabankena, who just ended Savalanka's 99-week stay at the top of the women's tennis world rankings. Savalanka beat American Jessica Pacula in straight sets. Well, Rabankena rallied to defeat American Coco Gough in three sets. The women's finals are Saturday the men's semi-finals are set for tonight. And the US Department of Justice is reportedly investigating the LA Clippers for circumventing the NBA's salary cap to pay Kawaii Leonard. That's according to the New York Times.

glad to have you back. How are we? Doing well. Doing well. Last week was the start of college football this week. It's NFL football so I'm excited. My chiefs play on Monday night. So I'm excited to see him beat the Broncos maybe hopefully. Hey we are the home of the Denver Broncos here at 820. You watch out. I know. I know I hear the ads as I'm listening and I think dang it. It's all right but I'm wearing my chief shirt. There we go. It looks nice. Yeah it's even got barbecue sauce bottles on there. I'm not going to lie you and Andy Reed rocking the same shirt. Well you know I like if I could emulate any coach Andy Reed's not a bad one to choose. I agree. If I get a mustache like his. Got to grow that thing out. Yeah. I can't. I've tried. I'd love to see it. Yeah well I would too. Some of these movies coming up this weekend. Yeah. Interesting. I'm curious to see what you think about a couple of these. Do you want to start with
the uprising or do you want to start with practical magic too which one? We can start with the uprising. Let's do it. Yeah so the uprising is a historical movie. It is an epic telling of the story of the peasants revolt or the peasants uprising of 1381 in England which I'm sure you're all familiar with. Everybody remembers that. Very familiar. Yeah. Yeah. It's taught a lot in English schools actually but not one that I think we're super familiar with here but this is basically one of the first times that it was an organized rebellion and effort by peasants to go against the crown and against the government in England and they were basically looking to abolish Serfdom which was a form of slavery at the time basically they were tied to the land and tied to the Lord of the land and they were tax heavily on the earnings that they made
and you know times are rough in 1381 this is like 20 years or 10 years or something like right after the plague so half the population has been wiped out and they basically end up getting to London petitioning the king to get all of this and this is the story of how that happens and it's interesting the directors created a fictional character named Plowman he just goes by the name of what he does and that's Andrew Garfield's character and they wanted to do that because the real leaders of the revolt are in the movie and that's what Tyler and John Bowle and they were the two that actually kind of led this action in London and they didn't want to tell it from the point of view of the two leaders they wanted it to be a common man just someone that was there and witnessed it which I think was an interesting choice and I think it works well
Andrew Garfield is great in this role as Plowman and I this is the first time that this story has been dramatized and put on the big screen and I thought they did a really really great job 90 this is 95% a really great historical epic and it's worth seeing because it's a story that we're not familiar with here on this side of the pond but it is a story worth knowing it is one of those stories that you know if this doesn't happen in 1381 we don't get to the revolutionary war in 1776 this is one of those things that lead to that this idea that we have these kinds of rights so interesting so specifically is this a is this a little bit of a slower movie is there a lot of action in this one where where do we land in terms of like how engaged it keeps you yeah so this
is where I struggled a little bit with the movie is the pacing okay it has moments where it is just go go go as the movie starts they get right into the action which I appreciate it because it drew me right in but then it gets really slow and it drags when it gets slow and all of the momentum that you get from all of the action scenes that are happening just stops dead in its tracks and it's hard for it to get going again when the action picks up again so it's just really an even pacing and and the thing is when you're watching a movie that's got a lot of action you've got to have moments where you can stop and breathe for a second and pause it just felt like they didn't just stop and pause for a for a minute they like put on the brakes yeah put it in park put the like awning out in your camper and like camped for a couple minutes and as a result the movie it's like two hours and 10 minutes two hours eight minutes long okay and it could have been about
a half hour shorter and it would have been fine so we're talking like breaking bads when Skyler is pregnant type of slow yeah yeah yeah yeah when you laugh and head over there that's like that's a good comparison it's not bad it was just Kate I just wasn't expecting that one look I've got limited knowledge that I can pull from and I'll always go back on what I know yeah storytelling is the same across all genres see so it works see my point exactly overall grade what did you think about the movie so this movie would have been an a accept the pacing was a little bit off okay and also they forced a tie in with Robin Hood and that really bothered me in the marketing they says this they said this is the rise of the legend of Robin Hood and at the end they put this little scene that really hints at it being Robin Hood and if they had left that out I would have been fine with it this happens 200 years after the first stories of Robin Hood start
coming out this has nothing to do with Robin Hood this is a real event Robin Hood is a fictional folk hero everything about Robin Hood is fiction and not real this is a real thing that is important that we need to know is real don't tie it to the fictional mythological Robin Hood if they had left that out of the marketing and out of the movie at all this probably would have been an a if they tighten up the pacing as well but I gave it a B okay all right that's not that's not bad no it's not bad an Andrew Barfield is fantastic in this and we need him in more movies so let's move on to the practical magic to and your review on that then this was an interesting movie I am not familiar with practical magic I mean I'm familiar with magic but not practical magic you know yeah literally literally yeah yeah oh yeah I do a lot of magic on the side it's not real practical no it's it's magic that you couldn't use another day life it's just like why would you need to know
how to do that right a magic so uh uh the top that's not yeah my character no no no no I don't want to be like carry top we don't have time to even go into that yeah no that's not magic at all you've got a flight to catch yourself I can't talk about why I don't want to be caretop uh but no this was a fun movie uh it is it is a weird mix of lots of different genres because you do have kind of the fantasy aspect they are witches they do magic and they do like real magic in it and they're also like this is one of those buddy movies where like they're sisters and they're family and they've always got each other's backs and they go through heartache and heartbreak the synopsis or the main part of the story is these sisters the own sisters and the own women if they fall in love with someone that person is then cursed and
will die so they try to avoid falling in love uh and Sally who's played by Sandra Bullock she has two daughters um and has two husbands who have both died so she did not do well in the not falling in love department and she has decided to keep it secret from her daughters that they are witches and in the story they find out that they're witches because one of them falls in love with a guy who's like the perfect guy apparently like he is too perfect I would say like if he had been in the movie more instead of going into a coma within like the first half hour you would think there was some like something devious going on he's that perfect yeah that's some red flags that yeah yeah like I'd be concerned if he's dating my daughter like I'm about you to the ik yeah yeah but anyway
but he gets you know he gets hit by a car gets in a coma and that's when the two daughters find out that they're witches and they have this curse and they have to find a way to try to break the curse so it's one part this kind of fantasy drama one part kind of family comedy um so it's a lot of different things but it works well um Nicole Kidman does okay Sandra Bullock is really the heart of the movie um I think she is one of the greatest physical comedians um that we have that very underrated she's very good at playing that awkward character that is always bumping into things tripping over things uh and there's a lot of that in this and she just does that role really well um but it but it's good it's a movie that has a lot of heart uh the dialogue at times I felt like these are seasoned veteran actresses uh you've got Diane uh weast you've got soccer channing Nicole
Kidman Sandra Bullock and they are being fed lines that sound like they came from the Disney channels wizards of wavryly place okay and like I was gonna go there on this one I yeah I was gonna kind of make the comparison and I'm glad you brought that up yeah and it sounded like that quality and I just felt like they deserve better than that so I had issues with some of the dialogue and the story is kind of winding and kind of meandering it doesn't really make a lot of sense at times it eventually gets where it's going but I think it even the story was surprised when it got to the point of the story this is another one that was over two hours long that really should have been about 90 minutes um we need to we need to start making it cool to end the movie at the climax of the movie and then have a short end after that yeah you know like I think back to goonies like when they get rescued from the pirate ship and the whole battle thing is over that's like the end of the movie that's where we need to end movies today you know what I think it was the Batman movie
where he's riding away on the bike uh that was with the nirvana playing as it goes away I can't remember which one that that was the Batman the Batman okay that one ruined it for everybody I think that's really from my memory is where it started and it made it kind of cool to make this long ending to a movie and since then we've we've lost the plot I I would say it probably happened that's a good example I think it happened with Return of the King and I love the Lord of the Rings movies they are my favorite movies but the Return of the King had about 10 different endings where it faded to black and then it came up and they had another thing happening then it faded to black yeah but we've we've got to make it cool again to just end the movie where it needs to end and this one felt like it dragged on a little bit um but it's fun it's cheesy I gave it a C plus okay fans of this movie will love it I can tell you at the movie theater uh I I talked to the guy at the concession stand uh his name was Buford not really but he was telling me that everybody was there
to see practical magic too uh and nobody was there to see the uprising in fact when I mentioned the uprising he said what so that's going to be the big one this weekend is practical magic too and there's a lot of fans of the original that came out like 30 years ago so all right there you have it he is Jake Deets our resident movie critic Jake before we let you go remind everybody where they can find all of your critiques all of your stuff that you put out uh Jake Deets.com is where you can find all of my written stuff and then uh movies that make us as our podcast with Tracy and Val and then uh at real Jake Deets is where I'm at on social media always appreciate your jumping in here with us enjoy your weekend okay you too thank you all right that's Jake Deets I'm Bryce Larsen that's Tim Matastor relief testimonial from an actual client some restrictions apply for complete details please visit Optima you were listening to 103 9 and 98 3 the van part of Utah's ESPN radio network
welcome back in it is Bryce and be an ujewaddle 3 9 and 98 3 ESPN the fan Friday edition of the program and joining us in studio in our downtown Salt Lake City Santa Quinn Ford studios who else and who other than the three men himself Ron the three men weaver joins us we're toxic football for the next little while here on the program and uh Ron excited for b y u and arizona this upcoming weekend and excited to just break it down talk a little bit about how big of a game this is big 12 game out of the gates week number two this is huge for both of these two teams this is uh this is the biggest game of the week I know a lot of people say no no no no no no this is the biggest game of the week I think in college football and especially for the big 12 and for both of these teams now if I'm from certain certain coaching staff members if they uh if they don't lose it doesn't mean they're out of the title game but I disagree I think this sets the tone and I think the winner of this game has a lot of momentum and could be in the title game and I think the loser is going to be playing a lot of catch-ups so
big game tomorrow Bryce on Fox yeah no doubt about it a 130 p.m. start between the two teams and should be a pretty solid crowd on hand a lot of b y u fans obviously going to be there in the stadium I think that that is going to play a big time I mean the last time arizona came to level Edward stadium I thought that that crowd and the way that b y u took care of that game was exactly the way that they should have now a season later b y u travels to arizona down in Tucson they go to double overtime crazy and that's a big talking point about this football game because this arizona team all during big 12 media days all in the lead up into the season we're talking about the b y u football game and they're excited out of the gates to give b y u in the first big 12 game of the year for these two teams yeah it's very interesting Bryce normally players aren't that honest you know we always say the players talk coach talk the PR answer and then out of nowhere arizona just gives you a sound but no we've had the game circled we talked to pe we talked to people
down there at big 12 when we were there and oh no we got the game circled yeah we need to our get back that one still stings that that didn't say right the entire season I am honestly shocked that they've been so open not that they've been open but so open about this still leaving this week they look don't get people bullets and bore material but arizona feels extremely confident they can walk into lavel and win they suffer two catastrophic losses right you mentioned provo you saw me going in the circle you know waving the belt they took him behind the shed the first time in 2024 and then bearbock Meyer the freshman went on the road and looked honestly like a veteran in overtime and they got that and that one stung so yeah big time game I think the game about the game last year Bryce that we all remember the big moment will be Kyle safar choke recovering that fumble I think that's the biggest thing that you remember from that game that doesn't happen Arizona gets a big time upset but they don't but yet tomorrow the walkouts are going to come in dialed it is a sell out again not surprised as lavel and everyone's going to be bumping and jumping I
know it's not vampire coups but yeah I don't think it matters if it's a midday game I think that arizona is going to have a tough task to be byu at home I love to what arizona's defensive coordinator said the other day Danny Gonzales when he was doing his weekly press conference with arizona media he said I hope the I hope the referees keep the flags in their pockets and let them kill each other crazy we should play the sounds of that's what I'm talking about baby I wish we played a sound club get it dialed up but looking and I get it right you know but look again he's talking right this coach staff is talking they they want this game to be physical they want to be at a win because of that okay so I just barely sent the arizona clip over from the Danny Gonzales commentary that I just referenced so from from the press conference here's what Danny Gonzales said earlier this week about that all we have this weekend is a big opportunity because no game is
bigger than any other we have an opportunity to go up there and play one of the best football teams in the country and their house and if it doesn't go our way it doesn't mean that our seasons over it doesn't even mean we're out of the conference championship race what it means is we got to get our ass ready for the next great opportunity we have an unbelievable opportunity for this team to go play a football game in an unbelievable atmosphere and I want as many Tucson people to come and flying their way up to Provo there's a Delta flight that's nonstop that you can hop on that I still there's still a couple seats and come and be one of the few of the 65,000 that are wearing the the Navy and cheer on the Wildcats and let's have a hell of a time because it's one of the cleanest places is one of the neatest places to go play a football game and I know we need to practice but gosh dang I wish the game was tomorrow because I'm excited as hell to go up there and watch these two teams two great football teams trying to kill each other and I hope the referees just leave their pockets their flags in their pockets and let them try and kill each other and see who wins at the end of the game would be fantastic I hope the referees leave their flags in their
pockets and let the two teams try and kill each other I was I've been doing coaxes two AM and I'm ready to roll I could run to Provo right I'll tell you what the language that man was using Danny Gonzalez is Bryson being Uchi certified the psycho from start to finish Bryson being Uchi certified I will put my stamp of approval on what that man just barely said about this football game that's going to come our way tomorrow I'd wrestle a damn grizzly bear right now bring him out bring him out you got the grizzly no grizzly bring him out damn straight just for that Danny the refs are going to throw flags on you now look I'm all about not giving that look don't tell the officials to keep the keep the flags in their pocket because they're going to throw flags now look I think this is this is a very interesting game because it really honestly Arizona cool in this football game I don't want to act like that BYU's going to I don't think they will I think BYU does get this victory but it's going to be a lot closer it's not going to be a 41 to 19 with Isaiah Glasgow having a house
call now I can very well be wrong because Bryson practice we've been down there we've asked the players and immediate availability hey what do you make of this you know them saying this and they said oh no we do we respect them we're not overlooking but we know what that we know what that is right Jordan right Bryson we do we know that that is them being respectful rightfully so Kalani saying in his last comment of media availability he's like Brent's been waiting since you know the whole summer for this like salty Kalani at the end BYU I feel like has this taped it our bulletin board and not telling us they've been talking we got to go make a statement now we'll see what happens but Fafita's going to be the reason they win this game to me both quarterbacks of the reason right whoever wins this football game comes down I think to you know the quarterback making place even if BYU is able to turn Arizona bear has to capitalize I think BYU wins this football game because of number 47 in the backfield I think because of his arm because of his legs because of his decision making his IQ and being either utilize all those weapons but this big storyline a con maybe for BYU or kind of the you know question markets no see on him oh right he posted at surgery on that PCL and an MCL he ain't going to be playing
for a while or maybe at all we'll have to wait to see what his availability will be so you got Preston Rex you got Devon Eck of the fresh me got Journey Tonga a lot of new faces so I think that's your question mark is how much of a low can L.J. carry right and how can they utilize those guys in their roles so if you want to see if Arizona can stop the run game and force BYU to throw we'll see what happens but as long as Arizona has number one in the backfield and his name is Noah Fafita in no matter like there's a reason they bring a held Isaiah glass crowd to make him healthy for this game because he's going to have to chase no doubt no doubt hey can I bring up something real quick yeah Danny Gonzalez absolutely should be the big 12 poster boy for monster energy that guy should be chugging monster he is chugging monsters behind the scene that's why he's so jacked up he's ready to go him and Kenny Dillingham when there's one second put back on the clock baby exactly he should have a monster two he should be double fist and two monsters right there throw it Kenny got to come back to provo this year too after what occurred and look I'll give you a little
tidbit on Kenny this if you want to talk about game circled for players for BYU that airs on the state game circled but Notre Dame is great but I've talked a handful of players um you know obviously at practice and interview settings and the vibe around that game in the Theranax and my interview he says that one circle more than Notre Dame and I can probably catch a lot of listeners right now of guard but I go back and watch what happened with that one second oh yeah they they they feel some type of way about that one yeah no doubt I mean the students when they were walking off the field there were students in their faces yelling at them and the just back and forth it wasn't a great situation down there it wasn't very unfortunate yeah because yeah the fans that came out onto the field and they had to push them off the field they're still standing there on the sidelines and players in sand stuff yeah blocking the tunnel yep as the players were going into the tunnel there was a lot of back and forth at the end of that there's some bad blood on the players that are still left around from that game oh and the coach of staff too uh Jordan I'll let you go before I give my comment yeah no I didn't say you're right they're lucky that didn't go south that
could have gotten really really bad um this is where the big 12 is swung and missed airs on the state should have come to provo last exactly 100% but they set the schedule like years ago remember when they came out so we had no idea but Jordan is right and this is where I think we got a just things I'm with Jordan when you have something like that you can't wait two years you got to bring that back immediately like did you imagine like the like the hostile environment they would have had to come into what yeah what about the flex schedule idea that the pack 12's throwing up there it's I mean yeah that can solve it season they listen you can play them again in the same season and that's why I'm seriously that's why though that I don't have a they should play each other every year because those it's it's not can this rapidly not going to go away yes BYU there's so many BYU fans down there and it's it's phenomenal they should play this every year well speaking of Kenny dealing him I want to hear from Kenny dealing him he was doing a press conference this came after the western Michigan Michigan game where they put the one second back on the clock and we all know how
that all transpired and went down unfortunately for BYU on the other side it didn't happen that way although they did get the one second put back on the clock Kenny dealing him was asked about it in his weekly press conference and he made a reference to BYU fans and what they'll tell you Kenny this is a very out of left field question but two years ago in 2024 you guys had that game against BYU where a second got put back on the clock I was just curious what was your reaction you saw what happened in Michigan I didn't hear the question what was the actual question what was what was your reaction when after Morgan State you know you opened your phone and you saw what happened in that Michigan game that was about it that was literally my reaction was I've been there done that been on the other side of it and yeah you know it's crazy crazy feeling to be on the on the flip side of it it's something you can't you can't process I will say there there's staff I don't know it way better
than I did to say the least and if you have any concerns over that ask any BYU fan they will make sure to make it perfectly clear how they feel about about that situation but they handled it way better than me and I am in my setting but it is a crazy thing to be a part of I can I can tell you that it is wild for the game to be over and then it not to be over I still think BYU fans hold a grudge against Kenny dealing him for the way he acted it oh they do no I've been I've been told by BYU fans I was crazy part I'll just tell this you not like to say this people recognize you will walk around Utah County and Costco with the with the misses and a kid hey hey three man Kenny gonna get his justice hurts out of the blue first thing he says not hello not this I'm like dog kind of mercenary I'm like I'm just like dog like he slides you a picture of Kenny's 100% I'm so here like that he drives you know you know what the best part about your head you know the best part about this game and what I do love and it's gonna be the night game and it's gonna be unfortunate because my wife's gonna be upset because I won't be able to go trick a treat and it's
on Halloween so it's about to be some trick and some treats you know for BYU and Arizona state now that's me being very low bar with the point when I you're laughing but I'm serious like it is you know we he's gonna have some fun with that but Kenny dealing him I think it's public enemy number one that week uh people still people still just like Utah more I think Utah's first to team and then Kenny's second but no that week uh no no no today might be up there too because they do yeah you did dodge a bullet yeah you're right they dodge a popper to look there's a lot of BYU fans got a lot of bulletin board material there's there's a lot of motivation for this BYU football team this Arizona Arizona state but I it's a Jordan's point going back I'm in a green you should be playing Colorado Utah Arizona and Arizona state every year no excuse I kind of like that I like this should be a pro absolutely 100% how good is Arizona state when they come in late October because they'll have played tech they'll have played at Texas tech that's by far their toughest game obviously Texas A&M this weekend Kansas Baylor Hawaii Kansas state I mean how how good is this that's a legit team they can win that game in provo they have a better chance in Arizona I tell you
that um they might have two losses by the time they come in they might have two losses but your battle test that though that's the tough part about it is yeah they have two losses but that's the tough part about Arizona state they're not going away they're a tough out wherever you look at them even that game against Arizona last year Kenny dealing him has that team dialed right and then appreciate him finally taking accountability hey they handled it better than I did right and I get it Cologne would have been upset too if the world's reverse maybe not that the atrick would but and he's fighting for its team so I get that do I think that's the right approach no but I think Arizona state you know has a has a very good head coach that gets his players to buy in like Cologne it's a different type of buy in but they're going to show up to provo very confident and I think that game will be a lot tougher like I could see them pushing BYU harder than Arizona and actually leading like going in a half time and maybe even in the fourth quarter because I just think when you want a big toe championship when you have a proven coach and it has experience you know what he's doing but that's later that we can talk about come October as in terms of tomorrow I got BYU winning this game I think I think BYU wins this game by touchdown I don't think
they won by two scores or just think week two way too early I proven quarterback with how P.O. this Arizona team is I can see them come out slinging immediately and BYU having to play catch up just because of I think of they're going to be ready to roll but I think once killi gets dialed I think Arizona's defense is their weakness and I just think bears going to shred it apart and it was interesting because I think it was a Brian Kelly said something on CBS sports and I said this yesterday on the afternoon show I didn't like how he talked about well 47 does it at times you're looking at tape probably at the Texas tech outside of the Texas tech game because they they destroyed everybody that they played until they played Oregon bearbock Meyer had 25 total touchdowns and four interceptions he's not going to throw two picks on on Saturday he's not going to happen tomorrow I think you could see bear have a 250 to 300 type performance uses legs and I think you could see him have a three total touchdown game so I think because of the weakness of Arizona's defense and the lack of continuity and losing guys at NFL I think that would be the keystone that will let them down in the end and I think BYU will be able to pull away with this in the end and
I think cookers go to an O Arizona falls again Kalani stays undefeated against Arizona and BYU's not into against Arizona last 11 games. Sorry go ahead, I was just going to say there's a lot of flags late in that double overtime game last year. Yes, yeah, yeah, there was very late that caused a couple passive appearances that went against Arizona. A great. And I think that's probably why Danny Gonzalez is saying keep let the flags stay in the referee. 100% that's the frustration, but here's the thing though Arizona got all the calls in the first half though. That's fair at the same time I think that the reason another reason why he might say that is because he knows he might not have the same type of athletes on the back end of the defense. This sure knows that they're going to have to be a little bit more physical in terms of maybe you know slowing down some of those BYU wide receivers, especially legend Glasker. Yeah. In order to stop him. So I think that he's planning on his defensive backs to be more physical beyond five yards, which could bring out the flags. Yeah, and look, I look at it like this. It kind of goes back to the Saints Ram Ram's one
like Jared Offset. Was it called fast interference? Right. And obviously it is. But like if it's not called like take your chances, right? Take your chances, right? So if you're Danny and I know people listening right now might not agree with this price, but if you're Danny, you're telling guys take your chances because if you don't get caught, it doesn't matter if the reference center right there doesn't throw a flag. You can't know you can't ask for a flag to be thrown back. Yeah. Now it's third and the 11 you got to play on. So if I'm him, that's exactly what I would say as a DC. Do I think you want to take that you're taking a chance? Yes. And I think that's why you said it. But to me, when you lose four guys, Danny and fell two guys who are drafted, one with the Raiders, very high level talented guys, uh, safeties and cornerbacks. Bryce, I think you're going to see a couple of flags in this game for sure because with legend, I think we just have big Walker lines right like they got they got to do six four six five six six right. They're going to have a couple of PIs, but I would like to see, you know, 50, 50 balls be fought and not the flag to go to the Horde's BYUA. If I threw the contact as a sand basketball, we'll get into one more topic and talking point here in a minute. George B. Nucci had something for well on that real quick, I find it interesting. The more college coaches don't teach this. Do you remember that Legion of
Boom, Seahawks defense? I do. They were taught. They said hold and grab on every play. Because the officials, it's human nature. The officials will not throw a flag on every play. You will get a lot you will gav a lot of penalties, but you they're not going to call a pen. They're not going to throw a flag every single time. It's terrible football. It drives you nuts, but but I'm especially in college where the past interference is only 15 yards. It's not a spot foul. I'm a little surprised we don't see that more in college. I'm not advocating for it because it's not fun to watch, but yeah, I had real quick before we go to break. You know, on the NFL, the second, a rookie quarterback will play great. Then the second year, they have film on him, and he'll kind of regress a little bit. Jane Daniels happened last year. Does that ever happen in college? Do you see that? As far as Bach Meyer goes, they've seen a year of film on him if they figured things out because we were kind of talking about that. Yeah, they definitely can figure you out after a year of tape. I think everybody. You see Daniels, right? My
home's had a little bit of it. They definitely start to figure you out because Tennessee's right. How you like to call plays? They know who you like to hit your spots. So yes, that's a given nature because these are the best athletes in the world playing college football. No doubt, these are the best some of the best college coaches and the best conferences coaching. So they definitely do. I think what makes bear so special is what you saw last year when East Carolina, I know it's East Carolina people like, Oh, Ron, hold on. Take with the grain of salt, but they're loading the box up to be like, okay, let's let's make him throw and then he checks out of it and gives the ball to us and he houses it for like 35 yards. I think he's so dynamic at the line of scrimmage. I think that's what separates good quarterbacks from elite quarterbacks. Right? And I still think Noah feed his lead. He's better than bear and his elucinus comes from the pocket collapses and how he's still able to make plays, but bear at the line of scrimmage. Jordan, I think it's what wins again, because he sees in these like, that's not going to work and his lack of aggressiveness to turn over the football because he doesn't turn over the football and because he checks at the line of scrimmage, that stress is defenses. And when he changes the play, if it does
become a check down on the pocket collapses, when he's able to run, you have to count for that. So they respect him too much in our P L game. And I think that's why erotic loves this quarterback and is giving him such high praise because when 47 sets up to the line of scrimmage, you feel so much pressure with LJ running the football in the back. And if he checks out of a different play with these big bodies now, how do we stop the sky? And you do have tape on them. But guess what? Can't guard everybody? Like you saw a legend just did. Okay, so they're going to double team. They're going to run you out of it then. Okay, if you're going to do that, okay, you're going to bring guys down. They're going to go above your head. Okay, third down. Araw is going to design it. Bear's going to take off for 15 up the middle. Did you see the way he ran? I know it's Utah tech glorified Utah tech, but how he was able to shift and he couldn't do that last year. So he slimmed. I just I think he the all season has showcased a lot, but again, it's a lot of hype tomorrow will show us if he does it against Arizona, it's legit because he also could have the one touchdown two interception game. And it could prove, okay, you have a sophomore slump like that's on the table too. I don't think that will happen. But I think to Jordan's point, Danny Gonzalez, if there's going to be a DC that's
going to force the issue, it will be Danny Gonzalez. And I'm excited to see what he does because I do kind of want to see bear struggle. If I'm going to be honest, let's see how you've improved against a good DC and against a good football team that wants their payback and has been open about it. They've given you bullets and bore material. Let's see what happens tomorrow. BYU versus Arizona. I'm excited. 130 PM kickoff on Fox looks like it's going to be about 85 degrees at kickoff
