It'll be a good battle I think Notre Dame is uh, very very motivated very excited to go to Lambo and and kind of kick off this 2026 season after kind of having that bitter taste in their mouth in 2025 And then of course you have a really great match up in Clemson and LSU Uh, which uh, you know, Clemson the anti LSU they really don't take Transfers and don't really explore the portal so he's trying to do the old school way against a guy that certainly Uh, at LSU in Kiffin who um, that's all he wants to do. 7:20improper sexual relationships and drug use within the football facilities and so they're trying to figure out whether the of Steve Bella check Used drugs and provided drugs to a player Whether a member of a UNC's recruiting staff had a sexual relationship with a player. I'm curious What's in proper and if there were sexual relations between assisted coaches and recruiting staff It's improper I guess if you are a you are a person of power you're not really allowed to date somebody who's a so-called subsobr What's the word yeah, like if you're on the staff You probably shouldn't have sex for the player stay off the staff is what the main issue is right Well, no, you see I mean you you shouldn't shutting down love. 10:28I think that He really needs to Kind of find a way to get back in the good graces. I mean listen here's a guy that was gone for about four or five weeks last year in the middle of the season when they really needed him And that's kind of when the swoon started to happen for the Kansas City cheese when When he went down and you know that that was a little bit upsetting to some of the guys out there I mean listen I know there's a lot of things that happen in your life and sometimes you just got to go take care of them Especially when it comes to family and family is always number one But the reality is that that family over there at Arrowhead stadium And the players have played with them. They were lying on him. They needed him The other futures connected to his talents and his skills And he kind of disappeared on him and then when he got back, you know, you can't control injuries, but you know injuries can't control you and to me you kind of wow whoa whoa see I like when you do that Okay, yeah, you can't control injuries, but injuries can control you You're that Jake Yeah, so I peek my interest. So don't let injuries control you

11:30And you can't control them. That's right. So You know Marty used to say it all the time And and I said I don't know anything about this guy's back injury. I really don't I mean don't you back? Could be I really don't back backs can be really really bad and as an offensive lineman. They're very very Difficult to deal with didn't John always have to deal with a bad back injury. I see here about a lot You know what listen like I tell the guys on the show the other day I listen I've had two shoulders replaced a hip replace a knee replace But never had a back injury and I'm blessed because of it for me to say that I'm blessed with having four of my joints replaced A bionic man. I'm a bionic man, but the reality is that the back is something you just can't it's hard to play through but You can find a way to to get yourself in a position where that back is stronger. It's leaner. It's tighter and you can And you can build a strength in that core the core is so important when it comes to football especially on the offensive defense lines So I think it's a little bit of both. I said you know

12:33I'm not sure if his offseason program the way that he got himself ready for the football season and The thing his goals that was set for him in the summer obviously was to get leaner was to try to be maybe better shape But I think it might have affected his back and so there's in there's a catch 22 Yeah, you want to be in great shape But you also have to have that size you also have to have that bulk and you have to have that that weight behind you To help you strengthen that core. I mean, let's face it the bigger yard the stronger that core should be and if the core And here's the thing here's a crazy thing is a lot of the things that you do to lose weight a lot of things you do to get ripped affect the back muscles they tighten those back muscles and I'm not a doctor on a play one on TV here or radio but the reality is that When you when you when you train kind of the way I think he trained Okay, I think he trained in the offseason it lends to having some of these issues and

13:34I think you learned a lesson now on the other side I think there's some frustrated football players out there. They want him out there on the field They need him out there on the field and There's been some grumblings and some mumblies of guys are saying hey listen, you know Can we count on this guy to get out there and be the guy that we need to win football games? And I think the fans feel the same way hey, let's we're all rooting for Josh Simmons. We're all rooting for him I'm rooting for him. I want to see him out there against the Denver Broncos In fact, I need to see him out there against the Denver Broncos. He's talking about because he's really good And they need him out there. He's right. He is he's a he's a very talented young kid He's got great feet. He's got great balance When he's right. He's very strong. He's very physical But there's something between the years that I'm not quite sure I want to how to put my finger on it Does that make sense? I just I don't know where the And I may be the wrong person to to really talk about this because in 11 years that I played I to me it was taboo to even be a way from the guys

14:35It was taboo to to to ever miss a practice to ever miss a rep to ever miss a game And I'm not saying I'm better or worse than Josh Simmons because of it. That was just my mindset And that's the kind of mindset you have to have in order to play in the NFL The NFL is hard 17 weeks of hell and guess what? You're me you may be close to 80 or 90 percent to start the season But after that first step after that ball kicked off in the in the air on Monday night against Denver Broncos The the percentage of how well and how good you feel goes down and it never gets back up You never feel the tank back up So it has to be something in your mind that you have to be able to to control it Blue holes is to say it all the time I'm telling you guys right now if you want to be a great athlete If you have a kid that don't want to be a great athlete One of the things that you have to teach your kid is your mind controls your body It's not the other way around your mind controls your body What your mind says you could do you could do what your mind Gives you the opportunity to overcome you can overcome and if you don't have your mind in the right spot

15:36You can't overcome those things you can't fight through those injuries And that's to me with one of the less I think Josh needs to learn that his mind has got to control his body And unless I'm not here to say that he's faking it I'm not here to say that he's not you know not Trying to get back on the field because I don't know that But the reality is that I think the between the ears he's got to get himself right I think that that is the missing link the missing piece the key to having it all pro left tackle here in Kansas City Is between the ears of Josh Simmons and if you sit right here I tell him the same thing your mind controls your body not the other way around you cannot just Say you know I you got to fight through it now You pay for it But guess what you're getting paid pretty good god darn good money Right you're getting paid pretty good money to go out there and play football The dream that you've always wanted to do you know think about when you were at Ohio State and you blew your knee out And how much you wanted to get back on the field And now you're on the field you got to you got to fight your way you got to fight to stay on it

16:40And that where that's what will make him that great football player that'll make him the guy that we all hope he can be If he can get that that gray matter between the ears and the right spot. 18:46I'm a little hard headed that regard because you know, I'm not my best. It's not the best thing for the team You know the other guys are willing able to do it, but um just been always sort of been a guy It's like if I'm able to go and we're trying to go and give as much as I have Regardless and you know, just once again, you're never gonna feel 100% point football So it's just part of the job and part of responsibility and you know like you be says how we signed up for it So then dad signed a contract. So it's my job to be out there So a lot of times I'm not out there. I feel like I'm not doing my job and letting my team down And for me, you know my coaches and that's just something I don't really, you know I don't let that feeling whatsoever It's telling you my guy. DeMarcato I thought I'd been a nice addition to the team, but obviously they wanted to keep those two younger guys and he got claimed to Dallas So I mean, that's you know, yeah, well the other thing is two guys remember that Sauri cap is certainly an issue. So he got two younger guys The cheese wanted to get younger. They got exponentially younger on this roster Somebody said it on ESPN, but I looked it up and it's wrong Somebody said that they were the third youngest roster right in the league right now They are But then I looked it up and then we're so they were like 12th So it's just been it's weird. I wonder if they'd do it different ways But whatever but the cheese wanted to get younger and they got younger. A offensive line Just kind of a hodgepodge You know, they they they picked up a couple guys uh, you know, I kind of off the off the waiver wires and then we made a trade for a guy. So

28:19Um, it's true. I've just they're the third youngest roster. Yeah average age per 25.7. Yeah, so And one thing I saw is like 26. So I don't know what they were looking at maybe it was five maybe it was after the couple they have five undracted free agents From this class on the team Offensive line. That's two they've you know what we haven't even mentioned that very much. They're 12 rookies on the team. It's a very young team Um, and you know, I kind of like that I think it was towards a 22 or 23 when they had one of the youngest rosters around and they went to the Super Bowl Wanted the 12 rookies. That's a lot. It's a lot. It's a lot And like you said someone undrafted free agents guys that were kind of invite guys five of them. It's amazing Uh, you got to get brevied a lot of credit for that. He brought in some talented guys and some of them you found kind of uh Lane in the weeds as they used to say back in the old days lane in the weeds. So they found a guy uh, uh tackle the That you know is competing in Clio Benson

29:22For a spot, which is a nice addition for the Kansas City Chiefs Why receivers it's incomplete. I mean, I don't know. I don't even know. I have no idea Rashid rice can he come back off that injury and and all this stuff He's been dealing with off the season off off the field in the last year or two Xavier worthy Unbelievable speed unbelievable talent unbelievable quickness But it's got to just be a little bit smarter as a football player run better routes Know where he's at on the field understand the concepts. What he's been asking to do and asked to do and uh, I think he'll be better this year. I really do You know, and then after that, it's just kind of a hodgepodge of some guys and and uh, you know I service Alan is a young guy that they have what they feel good about So There you go with the wide receivers tight end, you know, Kelsey He's a and is that a nigma Uh, we'll see if uh, you know if he can get over 600 700 yards Receiving this year. That's a big year for him. That'd be big for the Kansas City Chiefs

30:24defensively defensive line Little concerned with some of the past rush, but uh, you know, I do like the addition of Peter was I thought he played better in the last preseason game I've been on him a little bit about playing too high and and not really Making a lot of plays about thought he did better. I thought his foot workers a lot better linebackers man The linebackers are really thin You guys are you uncomfortable with this linebacker? Everybody's talking about the secondary I think the secondary is gonna be okay But linebackers, I'm just you know boltin and tranquil and then after that. I mean you have bassa and caulkern yeah, caulkern. I mean Is that scared is that scary? I mean they're special. I mean they are incredibly thin. Yeah There's an injury. Yeah, it's scaring us, but is it scaring any of the offensive coordinators around the league about worrying about this linebacker crew If boltin tranquiler out there, they're fine if one of those guys gets hurt Then who knows yeah, then Jeffrey bosses got to show why they drafted him and the way boltin plays He he plays on the edge. So he's gonna have injury issues. That's it. I mean, I love him

31:24I think he's a tough physical kid and he plays fast He plays hard he throws his body around But those are the kind of guys they have these little bumps and bruises and aches and pains that they'll hold you out for a couple games or two So once again, I think that this team I think I think physically this is a good football team Physically, I think they're very athletic I think that they got some guys that have some home run ability on the offensive side and the defensive side But mentally can Andy kind of get these guys mentally right Both on the field and off the field And I'm saying off the field are they gonna be prepared mentally to go in To play against some of the teams are playing against with some of the schemes of some of the stuff They're gonna have to do in order to win football games mentally can they overcome injuries? 33:31Yes, really important for us to improve this week, you know the biggest biggest stretch of improvement is from week one to week two and really my focus on our football team is How do we improve from week to week where where can we find our margins to be better and uh if we're not a lot better than we were last night It doesn't matter if we play Kansas or we play rockhurst. That's a big rivalry so that can be fun Wisconsin Notre Dame in Lambo field Louisville Ole Miss should be awesome And then I'm telling I think Monday night will be fun to watch SMU is ranked number 19 But there only three point favorites on the road in Tallahassee gets Florida state. So that game could be fun to watch So even though there's not like Fantastic five star matchups There's enough. There's a handful of games. There's enough that I think there'll be something to keep us entertained For the whole weekend like last night I knew Missouri was gonna blow Blow out Arkansas Pine Bluff, but guess what was good after that Watching the end of Georgia Tech fall apart against Colorado.
