Week one in the books except for an awesome game with Kansas City in Denver tonight joining us on Mondays throughout the season Mondays with ties. Nate ties from Yahoo Sports and football three oh one. I think Brady kind of nailed it at the end of his game saying some good some bad that's early season NFL and sure you could apply that to multiple weeks but I think their bad is is noticeable when when you're like okay there's just not in sync right now.
But the biggest game that we're all really excited about was a rematch between Buffalo and Houston where the last time Josh Allen played at Houston he was sacked eight times that part of it was masterful we can get to personnel and all that kind of decision there but kind of the headline for me Nate on this one is it I think both teams should kind of feel good considering the standard that both these teams are out in the AFC and look Houston doesn't want to lose that game but I think both these teams should feel really good about themselves. I think so too and even if you look at how the Texas defense performed which is kind of you know I consider them going into the season they are my preseason top defense which is arbitrary rankings for the summer but they were and they held a bills run game that's really good over the last couple years to a low success rate 30% and if you saw that you'd be like well that Texas dominated right and then there's this you know dragon playing quarterback named Josh Allen who who was just launching stuff and I really I'm right there with you where I agreed that I think both teams feel good we can get Texas offense in a sec but was
really encouraging to me at least from the bills offense was okay we're going against the Texans will Anderson to Neil Hunter they got waves of pass rushers they got so much speed was the scheme was really good as far as just the changing the launch point changing the protections they had a lot of multiple protections not just the same play action protection over and over they're moving Josh Allen left moving him right half rolls full rolls front side rolls straight drop backs and that is how that's thoughtful game plan that's not just yeah there's moments where it's like hey Josh Allen goes go make us right the rushing touchdown the two-minute drill he kind of created his own luck yet the Dalton concade and the DJ more one they squeezed in but you know with aggression you get rewarded like fortune favors the bold especially a quarterback and so I I'm right there with you this was the fifth highest passing success rate allowed by its Texans defense under demiko rions which is ridiculous in the first half it was 77% anything above like 48% good so 77% against
a defense that I think everybody in the world has as at the very least as a top three defense so I think the bills are extremely happy with how their offense performed especially with a run game not getting going the defense was the defense doesn't have horses but they did enough I thought that the bills defense but that's what I expected before the season is exactly kind of what I expected I want to see how Jim Leonard works with this group as the season goes along and then yeah we can talk about the Texas offense to and take what they did as well but when Josh Allen's throwing the ball over the middle he's not really taking any negative plays or the offense not taking a negative place and he's averaging over 13 yards per dropback that's a pretty good day at the office and that's not saying that the Texans play poor at all no I'm glad you brought up with this meant for a Demiko's Marines defense because I was looking at the numbers today like this is out of characters it could possibly get but it's also because of Allen because the craziest thing and it happened on the last touchdown drive it's like perfect like that that drive is a perfect a perfect I should say representation of what it is with Allen because I feel like whenever I watch a
bills game like every set of downs is bad play meh play oh my god I can't believe you did that play and then it's like okay first down let's do this all over again so it's not that the play to play consistency is there they only ran 50 plays because they were hitting on so many of these bigger plays now speaking of bigger we love 13 personnel on this podcast and we make that as a joke because it felt like once the Rams were in 13 personnel then every smart person was like oh 13 personnel 13 people couldn't stop talking about 13 personnel however it is relevant there was something happened here if you look at if you look at the 12 personnel it's 52% of the snaps it's 13% 13 personnel it's 36% of the snaps that is this that's more than double I think any 13 personnel grouping for Allen in a game keep big people on the field it frees up concade big people on the field means that concade and the Titans can work against somebody else maybe it means you know DJ Moore ends up going off so somebody that understands this certainly better than I do they do you look at this is a Houston
specific game plan because it definitely worked by quieting down the edge guys and having these big players in there but keeping bigger players out there on defense like is this something you think that bills wanted to do all season or they wanted to do against Houston it's a little bit what to do against Houston because then you get Joe and Petri off the field who's a dynamic player awesome but the the overall thing though is is that they have the ability to pivot it's just like basketball playoffs like hey we have a match up this ninth guy under bench is actually really relevant in this game this extra big that we have is relevant in this game because of the match up we need rebounding we need size yada yada that's really what it is is that those games that they need to lean into it like they did here that they can do and it's valid and the thing about the 13 personnel it's not just a magic wand like even the under center talk right now I'm already going to know it about because it's not a magic wand you look at the commanders and fricking Eagles they're horrible passing the ball out under center yesterday but if it's not just a magic wand you need the actual horses to do it like
Jackson Haas who's their second year player is a day three pick last year they need a guy that can hold up in line but you also need a a tight end that can attack vertically the ramps can do it because they have Terrence Ferguson who can attack vertically yes he wasn't like getting a lot of yards and everything but you need the threat and to create space in the whole offense it's you need shooters like that's what a receiving tight end is that's what can Kate is so they would get to 13 personnel and it's the variety of looks that you can get out of it you can make 13 look like 12 you can make 13 look like 11 but again you just need to have those horses you can have 13 look like 21 like the bears will do that a lot where it's like oh they're making it look like an eye formation look but I think that's what's nice is they actually have those guys and can Kate can be a matchup issue if you're going against a team that has those guys that you can pick apart and that's really what the Texans defense yeah those were they what they identify within get after they have a couple weaker guys and coverage up the spine at linebacker and safety and if you just get him outside can Kate has enough speed to attack vertically and you you felt that and yeah even the final touchdown to Josh Palmer which
wasn't 13 was 11 I think I'm trying to figure out what the deep safety was doing on that play camel bullock was like cheated over all the way past the hash and it was a man coverage play where it's bizarre because last year the corner was like playing inside leverage it was man I can get into that too why he was doing it but he gets beat inside but it was weird to me was was it because can Kate was just owning them and so the safety was expecting the catch can Kate but again that caused creates gravity if you have a tight end that can actually stretch the seam and do that they have to honor so really that's what it is you have to be valid to honor if you have a bunch of non blocking tight ends all right we'll just match you with nickel we'll just match you with dime and just play all right cool all right you want to run the ball you're not going to be able to help block the edge but these guys can all block the edge or attack vertically so again it's that ability to pivot and do that can Kate who I love coming out all right and this is we saw some stuff his rookie year based out with injuries what's that he's a Vegas guy he's well he went to San Diego or he went to different schools but he was a or Utah at the end but he's from Vegas right
down the road from it look those of us that watched him at Utah you were like I think this guy has a chance to be nasty and it granted the injury stuff is played a big part of this but he played in 73% of the steps in this game he was a 37% of the steps for games in 24 39% last year 130 yards receiving the most by bills tight ends since 1967 and when I think about the bigger personnel keeping bigger people in the field the thing is is he would get stingly one-on-one win he would get last year one-on-one so even even if you were like well we don't want to just have some linebacker trying to run with this guy because that's going to be a disaster we're talking about terrific players in the secondary where there's just there's not much you can do it's like the old wrong thing I'm not calling him wrong but you would have these matchup ideas with Gronk and he'd be like okay all of this just doesn't work like none of it really works because he's that kind of freak I don't know if in case it's going to be that but if he if this is more like the guy we saw his rookie year I think it changes a lot for who Buffalo can be yeah and they should I'm sorry
his weakness he's not a great blocker but Joe Brady I'll give him credit he he knows that so he's not going hey blocked in Il Hunter head up you know hold that like that's why the question loved ones of the world are like the real Tucker craft so the world are like the real dudes like can Kate so they run RPOs so all right if he's on the field we'll just run an RPO he doesn't have to block so he just runs a flat route he just runs a slant it's when he's attached in line or he's on the back side of a run and the bills have showed way to kind of mitigate that as well so again it takes some thoughtfulness where guys maybe have a weakness like that but it was encouraging that Brady is not just going to go like we're challenging you this year to block he's like all right you're not good at it all right which is you know we can wave this way and you can do other things Houston's offense I actually feel good about I think the crossers a lot of stuff was kind of if we wanted to turn this at all negatively about the bills you go I don't know how many of those guys back there can cover he reminded me a little bit of Ignodson his junior it'll have a state where he just felt like he's getting a flag one and a half like every I think he
ended up depending on the count is like 14 penalties for him his junior year he cleaned it up his senior year because I remember people talking about him and his junior I'm like this guys this is not it and then he was terrific okay and then I don't even know how many snaps he played they're talking about platooning the other corner on the side for Buffalo and uh it was just kind of reminding me of like when it gets bad for him it's just like I'm just start grabbing everybody all over the place um they can't call them all but it felt like on some of the crosser stuff that they were doing maybe later in the game too it's like they once these guys turn on any of these routes like this is going to be open in the middle of field for stride and you know it's another reason why granted they need the touch of the end to pull this whole thing out I still felt good about the old line I felt good about you know a rushing standard there or it was at least something you had to respect throughout the entire game and I know they're still down one receiver on top everything else but maybe it's just the floor was so low for stride it was like hey it was all right and this is good and with this defense if that's the kind of stride game that you're going to get they're still going to win a ton of games this year yes I agree bills are a good team like those
you two good teams going at it no I this was very encouraging for me and even more encouraging upon review it was a lot of good like a lot of good dark uh stride through some darts yesterday like some real deal high end throws like the the double move to Nico Collins on the second drive that was that's a hard throw because you got to get it up and down and that's what stride can do when he's feeling it and he scrambled a few times which is always something you kind of have to pull out of him because he wants to win from the pocket he was stepping up he had developed a bad habit of you know moving backwards um some cordbacks to get away with that during love uh stride though has shown that step up step up step up underlying numbers were strong I thought the run game was really encouraging um you know I thought the variety that they had in the run game uh success rate wise they were both high 48% and everything 48 overall 48% rushing 48% passing that's that's a good day at the office um it's it was just sandwiched by two strip sex one was just tramp round lost and and the first one was you know stride just kind of got stripped and that's one thing he's not the strongest
biggest dude back there and that can happen but I really was I'm right there with you I was encouraged by how this how this played out this is why I'm high on Houston it doesn't have to be a top five elite offense but if it can play like this against a bill's defense that's not great um but again that's how this team this is the formula of this team running the ball seeing that is more encouraging than anything stride does I know what strides high and play is it's just the variety in the run game the soundness in the run game really only Trent ingram I thought had a rougher game um maybe in past pro uh training grim adding grim um uh at right guard was maybe the weak point which I've always I knew you know that's not a new surprise but the run game was so encouraging and they had 10 explosive plays that that's that's good and nickel columns of course is the focal point they everyone kind of contributed you saw some rolling climb in there uh that rookie tied in on Michigan um case on booty had the one catch which was nice and they got sought off but you know it's encouraging that the other guys got involved in big moments too wasn't just Nico but Nico
of course is going to be the focal point he's a Nico's the top five receiver it's just that he's got stay healthy so that's you if you have an ace like that and then the other guys are again valid enough that the team wants to run zone which is which what the what the bills did by the way I thought Leonard might lean into more man coverage um but I think he knows what he's got so it was a lot of quarters a lot of quarters and all right well if we're gonna play quarters we need other guys to kind of step up underneath over the middle so that's probably why he saw some of those throws work end up working over the middle if you notice there was a lot of outside to Nico or kind of the other guys over the middle makes sense because that's how usually attack quarters you take a one on one or if you don't like the one on one or the cloud over the top okay then I worked the other side so again long story short encouraging and kind of what I expected I thought this game would be a bar and burner and it absolutely was green bay another blown lead um here's a number for you from like sandowed since week one of the 25 season green bay is seven and five with nine or more point leads
in the second half okay so here's a snare again with a lead of nine or more points in the second half green base since the start of last season is seven and five that's a 58% winning percentage the rest of the NFL is winning 90% of those games I was gonna say yeah this is that's and you know the last time we saw you guys it was a massive collapse to one Caleb Williams in the fourth quarter in the playoffs so I think an easy thing to do is to look at the fourth down decision it's fourth and sixth they line up for the field goal they're just outside of the red zone I think um I think it was like 23 yard line or something like that they line up they get the field goal but it's still only gonna put them up 25 17 uh after finally Minnesota getting a touchdown right so they go to fourth and one they run the cubie sneak they get stopped I I don't know how much you've seen I think smarter people realize like the move is the cubie sneak with Jordan love in that spot on fourth and one you're at the 17 look for the touchdown put this thing away the problem
is is that is like this defining moment of the timeline of the game where then Minnesota scores three touchdowns in two and a half minutes one is a nice drive off of that failed fourth down attempt and then there's the fumble then there's interception were green bays giving it to him with I think 15 yards of total offense on those last 14 points so there is a trend here with green bay not being able to hang on to any of these leads this felt like just chaos I don't I but I can't blame the fourth down decision of taking the three points off the board and then going for on fourth and one as opposed to the field goal and fourth and sixth it's it's it's it's new age you know that's the old adage you know you never take points off the board but it's a new age and also you know he's not saying by the way I hate to don't take point out the part of things because everybody wants to come here's my guy I have so many part cells isms that I don't like but go ahead we'll get to the problem was everybody tried to copy him for like 20 years since you're not built part cells like you know stop like stop trying to act like him sorry it's a you know like
the guy that's like the actually the most part cellsy and it is like Sean Peyton which is no one would consider it's like a real part cells guy I mean he is but let's be kind of that but I digress you know the other thing too is the packers will use Tucker craft as a cubic sneak guy so I was actually surprised that they didn't kind of pull that trigger maybe because of his injury I'm working back from that I'm not sure I I was not disappointed the decision go for it I be aggressive be be aggressive like you got to trust your defense against a backup quarterback name Carson Wentz like if you don't trust him here when you're gonna trust him I think the issue with the packers and I did not I've been high on the packers the last two years but not this year because I again I use this terminal I don't have the horses they they've issues at all line they have issues at corner and they can't rush the passer think you need a couple of those things to to be a real valid team and put games away and I it showed up in this game like they had the Viking stifled so throughout but unless they were blitzing and Jonathan Ganon blitz more than
he had like I think it was the second highest blitz rate for him as a play caller it's like they can't generate a pass route should if they don't you got Justin Jefferson Duncan on guys so I really do think that I find with the packers being aggressive and just trying to get like hey let's get out of this game and just like you know put it away so I'm not mad at that at all I'm more mad at I want to say mad but the packers online fell apart because it's a bunch of backups they're rotating guys like packers are like a high school team sometimes they'll rotate tackles and rotate guards even when they are healthy they've done that for a few years packers do their own thing with everything we don't play rookies it's like this must be nice not having an owner but they really just kind of like it's here so they can just get away they've no media never asked some hard questions they it's it's kind of nice there that's not bad living but really the old line you can see the trickle down affecting the second half like so of course Brian for his blitzes we've seen all the blitz stats high one of the highest blitz rates in the last seven years what yada yada yada the first half second half though first half Jordan love 8 for 16 180 nine yards two touchdowns against the blitz that's
great gash or be gash go for it that's how you want to attack the blitz second half you took four sacks and had a pick against the blitz and you could see on those no that last driver it all fell apart the right guard right tackle in the tight end or getting off the ball late they're on the road it's backups they're on a silent count there's no communication happening and because it's on a silent count those guys have to look in and their heads are already spinning because they're going against flora's so they're looking in and then they're waiting with their eyes and so the bikers are just teeing off on that that's why the first half felt like that was because there's no crowd noise you know in us bank it's loud so the second half that crowds go nuts and they have to look inside they have to look inside and then it's like all right all right where's my assignment okay I'm right here the linebacker right here okay I'm like oh shoot the ball snap and then there's douse turner already up the field it was just a it was a trickle-down effect like Jordan loves you have a purple heart like yeah you don't seem down on Jordan love at all with this one and it's it's like all right when he gets manhandled it's super embarrassing and then it's like do I not have the ball anymore like that plate was one of those plays you're like what the hell's going on here
and you're getting bullied but you're physically going to get bullied no matter what unless you're like Josh Allen or Cam Newton in that spot anyway so that leads to the one yard touchdown when he throws the pick my favorite thing on the James Pierre pick is that Harrison Smith is so mad that he drops it he stays on the ground and he's so mad friend of the show Harrison Smith who I think I'm supposed to reach out to his brother to finally that's on me to Harrison Smith's brother by the way we were supposed to have on the pot I don't know what happened I'm pretty sure it was my fault but he's so mad and it's like well actually no this is going to work out here because there was a play I forget if it was a second or third and twenty were Jordan moves up in the pocket and changes his throwing platform and just absolutely delivers and I watched it and I rewound it I went this is why he got paid this is why because I think it's very easy because of how embarrassing this collapses and this pattern of yesterday last time they played the Bears they were up 21 3 1 2 they were up 21 6 the end of the third quarter they were up week 16 against Chicago 13 3 late in that third
quarter as well and there's these NFC North games where you're going why is this now happening like I thought that was kind of this outlier weird thing were barely over 500 on these games where you have these huge leads in the second half and now we're not winning any of these anymore and you feel like if you're doing hey Jordan love dot dot dot on Monday that that's completely missing the story of yesterday's game he watched the he plays against Brian Flores how you're supposed to play you're supposed to stand in there and deliver and try shit and he's doing that left he threw from every possible platform like you straight upright you know 10 degrees 20 degrees like he's just he threw from every possible platform one foot no feet it was it's exactly how you're supposed to play and they had no run game it's you know it's Chris Brooks who's a protection back and special and then more Sean Lloyd who's had like 150 carries since high school or including high school and who's kind of like a bouncy guy more zone guy and then the old wines a bunch of backups and hurt
players as well Zach Tom he changes name but he's Zach Tom to me is probably one of their better off in alignment he's banged up you know and he got he got the fumble or whatever and they're like land he like caught it and then he got sought off he's probably like I'm I didn't want that you know yeah right the line of cash in the ball and he gets hit as he's already already he's probably like that's sucked um Jordan love got pressured half his dropbacks 50 not blitz pressured where he got pressured 50% of his dropbacks anything above you know 25% 28% crazy in his double that and he usually doesn't take sacks that's the thing about Jordan love he creates big plays and he doesn't take sacks that is a formula he's a locked in to me it's like it's eight is the floor it over looking like top-time rankings that's where I have Jordan love I it's only going higher but it's just one of those things where it's like it's a tough match up and they just don't have a lot of dudes right now the other headline from this one Kyler Murray who I say he doesn't get he doesn't get dinged he gets injured like there are plays and even on that play like starts the game disaster
interception you know like this isn't fun it felt a lot like Texas Ohio State in a way and then he gets crunched on this play where he had no chance of getting the first down I didn't think um no and it was a very high there's because you actually didn't know what was wrong until it went a little bit longer you're like okay it's probably a head injury here but even the announcer I think on the broadcast it said oh he's holding that left leg I mean he's holding that left leg and I mean this is not to be critical of him but it's just the reality that he he pays a way bigger price on these NFL hits than I think anyone else playing the position and it's unfortunate we'll see what happens once he gets clear but I don't know if this opens up the door for JJ to get reps in here again unless you thought you likely to stop from whence you got the three touchdowns but it I wouldn't say it was like a pretty game from Carson and relief oh no I mean even the touchdown at jaffer sandwich hilarious um because there's a free play and so they just ran all goes and whence
has it so usually you're just looking and then launch it okay I got free play he gets it and then I'm just saying this is how wences head was spinning he looks and he's like he looks to his right and he's like oh shoot that's Jordan Addison oh where's Justin at okay and he goes all the way back to his left he wasn't looking off of safety he was trying to find number 18 which I thought was here yeah wences was I'm not the biggest wences fan he takes too many hits it's like his his play style is not the best city took was the roughing the passer which was bullshit because I mean look there was the took a charge there was three penalties on that drive two of them I thought were totally justified but that third down on the roughing the passer was brutal so you know that's another part of it it's not really a score thing because the thing gets so out of hand but we'll see what happens there with Minnesota the quarterback position the pick the pick was interesting to with Kyler um was that that was a great example they were in uh five man protection and empty protection and what the right guard will fries has to it's called squeeze so he has to work inside and then the right tackle has to keep squeezing so it was a great example of like five man protection sometimes
if you blitz it which Johnson Johnson and it did that the free runner you're going to allow a free runner against a blitz when you have five man protection but it's physics you want the longest path to the quarterback so you don't want the a gap or uh to to be the guy clean you want the furthest guy so it should have been the right outside guy so that's why Kyler was like oh oh shit and then should not do what he did you know like again Jordan love doing that it's different than Kyle are doing that Jordan love has one of the best arms in the NFL Kyle here's a good arm that's the difference between the lead arm and good and I really did think that that was one of those where it was like a trickle down the stuff and he's not the guy to kind of like stop that trickle down if that makes sense like the if other guys make mistakes he that's where he waivers Jordan love other guys make mistakes there's times that he can overcome that that's the difference of those tears of quarterbacks there's something for everyone when it comes to Reese's now we all understand the standard right two peanut butter cups one for me one for you likely two for me none for you
or maybe you just don't get buried and there's always going to be two for you and you don't even really have to have that discussion what I would tell you though is there's this this thing that will happen with the miniatures where you're like I'm not really doing anything I'm just having miniatures it's not that big of a deal but then there's something about having the two to your name or it's like I'm in full control I know exactly what the plan is I'm having these two and then I'm good miniatures there isn't really any plan you can do whatever you want no one's even looking whether it's fast break or take five or outrageous fast breaks kind of crazy fast break I'll even have days and like can I do this today to the problem is it's also tempting because we know how great that relationship with peanut butter tastes it is something that you look forward to when it's hanging out I've got one my kitchen right now staring me down just staring me down for three days and much like on a third down where I'm scanning the field trying to recognize where the pressure is coming from I have no idea what's going to happen I don't really know what the result is going to be on that drop back quarterback still when I drop back into the kitchen I know I have
nothing to fear only reward pure enjoyment Reese's the official candy partner of Arsenal sports go get Reese's wherever you shop okay Baltimore I'm going to include this one in here because there was a lot of anticipation with mint or as they had coach now we had some under center numbers for you here early down so week one the highest under center rate that we had was still another game to go here since 2017 Lamar under center just over 50% the highest of his career fire in six yards of offense Lamar what I actually loved about this domination was that he didn't feel like I don't want to see him not be this running threat that freaks everybody out it's just the way this game goes that eventually those numbers continue to go down his are going down last year was disappointing you could save the injuries which is always a little bit of a part of it like the guys that are injured that are playing but it wasn't really it was an absurd offensive output here but it wasn't necessarily because Lamar was back to peak Lamar running I mean it's seven for 40 but that's
take out what 19 yards on that one run and it's six runs for like 21 yards so this was a contained Lamar where they still were this dynamic and as you said the under center thing doesn't fix everything for everyone it just happens to be one of those things that everybody was talking about and it certainly played out week one it yeah and it was very encouraging I thought I've mentioned before but Dwayne led for their offensive line coach I'm a big fan of what he did in Atlanta was really cool like he had really interesting designs and that carried over and also the Mars like the the variables are like with the formula of Lamar running is changing where it was he used to get about seven or eight design runs again and now it's just one or two that you sprinkle in in high leverage situations and high leverage meaning late down third and short short yardage or in the low red zone like is rushing touchdown you don't want to build the whole plan of Lamar on design runs anymore you just want to sprinkle man that's exactly where the whole league is going
but it was like that that touchdown that rushing touchdown uh Derek Henry's first touchdown that's it's the good stuff like that's why I'm very encouraged by what I saw like they almost average eight yards of play 7.9 yards per play Lamar average 12.2 net yards per attempt so net yards are include sack yardage there um and they actually pulled the urban Meyer they had 200 yards rushing 200 yards passing like urban Meyer said when he came to Jaguars that he wanted to average that and and everybody in the NFL was like 200 rushing like have you have you watching NFL game like 100 is great is a great day at the office so they actually pulled the urban um but no he don't he only got sack twice but he didn't get hit other than that he had the long scramble on third down but that's a perfect time to scramble third next to long because that's usually the actually the best play um but the that design run was cool they was a it's what they call zone red arc uh where you're reading the defense they really attacked ardon key for the colts um the first play they attacked him on the bootleg they ran it to his side he crashed on the running back Lamar scot free goes as a
flowers and then on that play uh the zone red arc is one of those where if you run a zone red you're in defensive end everybody knows that read the defensive end he crashes on the run back quarterback keeps it defensive scot smart they run this thing called scrape exchange which is where defense and crashes into the linebacker scrapes over the top they exchange duties to then take their quarterback that has been going off for years now especially in college but the arc and this is the tight end usage in this run game is really really cool the arc block is then the guy in the backfield then leads for the quarterback if he keeps it for that scrape guy they didn't need it on that play but that was really cool to me to kind of like see this unbalanced formation tackle over zone read arc and they're like sprinkling that in other tight end usage stuff on the run game with Derek Henry where you know the the tight ends screaming in into motion and it's almost like a it's like a motion lead block they kind of creating a crease like they're creating like a natural cut for Derek Henry and it get 260 pounds when he gets a crease like that it's just game over and you saw that a
couple times I I don't know exactly what to call it he did a dwayne ledford did that in Lanna a lot with bjorn Robinson and now you see Derek Henry reaping the benefits from that so just really creative stuff and then on top of that decadent oil I thought that's a really nice past game designs you got zave flowers running choice routes you got some nice kind of third down stuff as well that I thought Lamar look really comfortable with but I was that was really really encouraging I thought to see that from the Ravens and how cohesive everybody looked there's something else that I kind of love about week one it's like the best players are so fresh like Derek Henry week one yeah it's like oh wow this is what it would look like if guys weren't banged up the entire time even for one week one although Fred kind of looks like that the entire time Nick Bosa and that game against the ram like oh that's right this is what it's supposed to look like when he's healthy it's just a little bit of reminder how taxing this game is to see how insane some of the best players are because they're the healthiest that they're going to be now for the rest of the year were you worried about what the Colts looked like at all as far as talk about healthy uh because I'm a little scared
Dana Jones can't plant throughout it's there's there's a couple throws those balls were some raining on them a little bit so speaking of health the the Colts were a little worried tower war and looked a little banged up the run game looked good but yeah I was a little worried about how Dana Jones looked that leg looks a little limpie right now yeah I think the sauce gardener acquisition will be questions although uh you know because you're you're just like oh yeah this guy's like being talked about like he was at least even if it wasn't real sauce was talked about is like okay if it's not Sir Tand then it's then maybe it's this yeah and then next group yeah and then some people that I think I trusted a little bit were like he's not that again my whole Sir Tand thing is that I'm never going to compare anyone to him until further notice uh just you're okay he's covered that yeah all for and then you're kind of like oh that's right and it was funny like I saw a play it wasn't that great I was like yeah that's we're not that far removed from him but on the Daniel Jones part of it usually and that's what I always think is so interesting about the Trevor Lawrence conversation is and they let it up so I'll let you cook on that one a little bit but is Trevor really going to be
somebody it would took like five years in and it's that second half of the season and that's now who he's going to be and certainly that's what it looked like a week one I think the opponent has something to do with that but maybe this is maybe it is like that's a really long time to feel like you're getting it right and maybe it was just Liam combed coming in and and it all works out and that's fine but but but Daniel Jones gave us multiple years of evidence that he wasn't really the guy he lights it up at a historic level like look at some of those performances at the beginning of last year were then it's like oh you know he this is why he went so high right we just start we get different results and then we start recreating all of these versions of it's like dude he sucked with the giants okay he wasn't good you can sit there and talk about the franchise and their history and how long they've been losing in New York with both teams here but I thought that was more of an outlier and then the wheels kind of fell off he had the huge turnover games granted the Pittsburgh game was a disaster I think was there a lanagame right after that where he's like fumbling the ball like crazy and so I don't know that it was necessarily that bad but there was a moment there in
those first two months of 25 where it was almost like yeah no one should have ever thought that Daniel Jones couldn't have done this and I'm like really like this is kind of surprising and maybe it's strictly him rushing back this soon from it but I I feel like I'm being a little too harsh for a guy coming back from a very significant injury here but it's like it's probably gonna look more like average would be would almost feel like the reward with Jones moving forward if he's the guy the rest of the year and then you know who knows what were the decisions that they'd make yet playable it was playable I know that's exciting for anybody no it's those first that first half of the season last year I'm like I don't think this is really true either no they were I mean their average and over 30 something points at game that I was like I was eating crow don't think any QAR games yeah well she's like in hiding has the goods like she's like it's a great play color and a play designer so like he does deserve some credit uh throw lines pretty good to Tony Sparrow Jr.'s pretty dang good as a coach um you know and John the Taylor John the
Taylor like he's he's a dude but I'm with you that more evidence has pointed to him as average at best limited and kind of how he progresses as well I always thought Daniel Jones is best when he points gets the point shoot you know as soon as he has to come off that first read he's you don't want that he's not one of those guys but the thing was he's such a good athlete and they did a good job last year of kind of limiting his touches the design runs kind of similar conversation with Lamar but then you watch him today yesterday he can't outrun Tavius Robinson to the edge and that's worrisome that if my point shoot all right if I can't get to number one I have to now create and then now he can't create so I mean every design has to be dead on like dead on like he can not be wrong and the design can't be wrong and then there's times where the designs right there's a play in the second half where it was a third down and they ran a slot fade it was there's a man beater overall but a slot fade to Josh Downs who's a good player so in Josh Downs wins on a slot fade you want to take that one on one blitz boom let's go the pass rush gets there so Jones has to
step up he can't step up again to throw it like his his leg only allowed one movement if that makes sense like so it because it's right like so he can't plan that is scary to me because that means everybody else has to be on their pees and cues but you don't pay a quarterback if everybody else has to be on their pees and cues you know what I mean you pay the quarterback to wash away and be mouthwash for everybody else's woes it yeah the math of the the Colossus here is off for me like they they're a weird weird kind of zombie team right now at least until halfway through the air and maybe the Achilles feels better but it's it's a little worrisome for me right now and the defense isn't like all that either worrisome Detroit pulls it out they hang on and I couldn't believe like whoa are you really gonna run jimmy or Gibbs this many times and he when he was drafted I was kind of like I don't know that it's worth it the old running back thing I still would say that I'm in that camp of like I like to germa I love pick but generally I don't necessarily
want to do this and Gibbs is just that scary as soon as he touches the ball but I'm like I this isn't I know my gummer is gone but this doesn't seem all that interesting and then you've got a tie with a shock on the other side you're like oh man this guy's gonna suck today wow that was brutal because it was bad it was bad bad is disappointing is to not get the two point conversion love them going for it you could argue that noralans maybe is trying to do like a long term thing of like hey this could really give us a spark this season if we get this two point conversion like people are gonna be doubting us all this stuff um I think that the positive stuff this is one obviously the Detroit hangs on that Gibbs looks that scary there's a lot of stuff from Detroit's offense I didn't necessarily love in this outside of that in the passing game um but at least there was a bounce back for shock we're even in the third quarter your turnover turnover and you're like that gets this guy not that I was gonna say hey everybody was wrong it was overrating this guy but I think the comeback proves why everybody always talks about him so there's some silver lining in there for the saints on what's the disappointing comeback yeah because he was the thing about shock actually
it's kind of somewhere with golf a little bit is how he deals with pressure um you know not not mental pressure and all that but more just literal pressure how he deals muddy pockets and everything and he was bad through two and a half quarters when there was no pressure and that's where I was like getting really worried because I was like all right are you just not hitting throws because again if you're not gonna be an ultimate creator type then you have to just be uh you have to be money you can't make mistakes you have to be accurate and he wasn't playing like that it got encouraging as the game went along uh yeah not having drawing ties in their pick top pick you know that that was that the math of their personnel is not working I do like Bryce Lance though trail Lance Lance's little brother I do like him um in alaves a stud as well and juan johnson and hitting shock have really nice chemistry uh it was just one of those I was a little discouraged by how it went having said that nine explosive passes by the end of the game and I thought the last quarter and a half in the even until over time they had some real nice moments where he stood and delivered um at the line's defense I don't think it's gonna be very good in coverage so that was
also discouraging too because it was like all right if you can't shred these DBs right now they're all banged up for akiasins starting for them they're running man coverage you can't beat them with in a lobby as a stud that's that was kind of worrisome for me I thought the old line give up a lot of pressures as well like so again that that that kind of is a little worrisome just overall with the saints having said all that much better felt a lot better felt more explosive because I was encouraged what happened last year he shut kind of beat up on some bad defenses last year during his run so I kind of been kind of like middle with him it's like yeah he might be a starter he's older than Trevor Lawrence and you know that kind of if you're older and Trevor Lawrence and we're talking about like oh you need still more development that's out of now to me it's like I would unlock something a little bit more exciting but at least you can get I think this is gonna be like a starter ish guy for this year and we can assess and at least everybody else we can assess and see how they play as well because they got a pretty young team at young offense
Trevor Lawrence let's bring it back to that because we were touching on it there a little bit you seem very bullish we've talked about the Jags offensive line concerns and maybe there's some some guys coming back wanting particular that maybe shores that group up a little bit more but I would say based on every unit ranking stuff that I've looked at the Jags are not near anyone's like perfect example of a offensive line they lighted up yesterday and Trevor Lawrence is in his six year so this is not normally how it goes when you're number one overall when you have the urban disaster when you turn it over you clean house and then you're thinking okay now we're just gonna cater everything to him which could then also be a cam or conversation we're like is everything being catered to cam or or you sound like you want to just jump at that right there I got to watch that game back before I like throw it at a hot take you know I'm not gonna high on Brian Dable overall so I you know I but I want I want to rewatch that game before I go on your show and throw out some big takes on that one because I think some of the Tennessee personnel decision stuff is like well we have to do this because it's like well are you just
spending to show that you're spending for him or you're spending on the right people here when Del Robison making almost 20 million here do that would you do that one of the examples I would come up with but the Trevor store this timeline one it's not usually allowed um but is this is this the rare case where he actually is going to be everything we thought at him look I liked him just like everybody else did watching him run around a clumster like how could this not work out I thought the second year part of it was like the really alarming season where I'm like is he seeing ghosts out there like what is he looking at red zone throws that you know normally it's it's pretty easy to kind of avoid some of the red zone mistakes because you know it has to be so quickly you get rid of the ball not to say like like red zone to me is the no that's a that's exactly what was the issue is he had some of the stooped as turnovers you ever'd see in the red zone I couldn't believe right what were you looking at yeah because there's so many quarterbacks and once you get into the red zone you're just like okay this is the difference between you and like the top guys right but then I think the the benefit of being down there is that you know you have so
little time and the routes once they're over it's just over and it's all clogged up yep like you can then just get rid of it or in his case scramble or you can take the check down if that's in the play but with him it was like he didn't want to give up on the end zone shots and you're like this is who does this like this is getting way worse and again here we are year six they light it up so I I feel like I already know your answer on this one but is this the rare case of like he will be the thing we all thought of it just took longer than usually anyone ever to get the opportunity yeah I do think that's it he got the actual timeline to actually get to that and now has surroundings and Liam Cone's got the goods him and his coaching staff are very very thoughtful with their game plans they do some really good stuff and now these guys in their second year in the system you can kind of see them they they like set the record last year I don't know if I already told you this but like for a legal shifts last year and a legal formation because none of the guys could get lined up great make sure it's for that and then the second half of the yeah hang
the banner and then the second half of the year then it kind of really got cleaned up like Jacobi Mars was really calm to everybody down but I've always kind of compared some to like a souped up Matt Ryan like that's kind of always been my comparison for Trevor like just a kind of a juice up more twitchy Matt Ryan where is he a elite guy like what I consider the true tier one guys I don't think there's three right now which is Josh Allen the Mar and Patrick my homes to me and then there's a kind of a glut of tier two guys I consider him a tier two guy I have him kind of more than that like eight nine ten range I really do you have them all over burrow yeah yeah I have them all over burrow burrow's got and get some more explosives before I'm going to prop them up as a elite guy I'm sorry I'm sorry yeah I know cloud coverage cloud coverage yeah I mean it was more of the same yesterday under center we had a yeah it's like I appreciate Joe burrow I love to use him as teach tape for a lot of quarterbacks but like the the dudes to me have that little something more that little more creation again you know whatever you want to call out the
dragons of the world like they do stuff that you can't coach as far as just like it's not within the scheme of the play you know that creation ability but I digress but Trevor yesterday that was the second best game of his career in terms of success rate as far as a regular season they were absolutely cooking I mentioned again if you're near 50% success rate you're cooking on passing he was 68% yes Browns caveat I have to say that but he was so decisive he wasn't taking bad plays I thought I even tweeted this out and I was curious but like you see it's one hitchball out one hitchball out that's decisive and it's not one hitchball out five year throw it's one hitchball out 20 yards down the field and that's where that's there's that Matt Ryan where he really likes to work that intermediate area and that's where I think that's where he makes his living throwing over the middle which is always encouraging because again you have confidence what you're seeing you have anticipation so I I'm very high on what this offense can be and especially how the rookie left guard look I know this is
very specific but a main no a pregnant he's the rookie from for the from Oregon and he is a mall or and him and Anton Harrison onto the left side that's like a plus left side and that is like okay now if we got a couple good starters who's the weak link now probably the right tackle like but that's the thing is if it's just one weak link as opposed to two weak links or three weak links feel a little bit better about what the run game looks like in the past protection looks like and there's sneaky signing on this offense Chris Rodriguez who's a hammerhead and that's that's really helping this offense stay on track in the run game it's not as boom bust as it was last year which again lifts the floor up and I think Trevor is that guy that kind of have achieved a high ceiling like they had yesterday all right let's try to get to as much of this as we can with some quick hitters here to close it out I don't know how many losses are going to have to happen before we surpass the charges lost to Arizona being the worst loss like it's the worst loss of week one can it keep that belt for multiple weeks now as we told you on this podcast I loved
Arizona over three and a half yes that does not mean look there's too many talented guys I thought for three and a half and I know the schedule was like consider top 10 most difficult but I you know as Nico Harrison once said I hope people can see the vision now and they won the lottery I think mine has more to do with like look did you see all the dudes out there that are runner around a lot of it is kind of rounding up the new guys on defense a bit like with the couple pieces in the offensive line for Houston the expectation is like all right well if these younger guys are just a little bit better it wasn't necessarily about that I mean Herbert was a disaster I know lad gets hurt and the offensive stuff on EPA falls off a cliff once ladders out Lambert Smith was also out in this one another receiver for them but some of this is just I may not be able to talk about Herbert for a month we declared like Herbert guys stop it leave him alone the fourth down not even getting the ball out and taking a sack is the worst thing you can do is a quarterback throw a fucking pop up
into the red zone and see what happens and he's been around too long to do it I understand people mistakes then it's almost the frustration double double coverage pick that felt like I'm just mad so I'm gonna let it fly even though it makes no sense whatsoever I call this a part of the balls yeah I love that let's keep using that this season but once you have the tackles back you're like hey the guys are back there like this is not what this is supposed to look like with Mike Daniel I think it will take now Arizona may in fact be better than certainly Vegas thought they were but it still is just such a nasty loss really like oh all the Herbert haters a great afternoon for you yeah I congratulate you you know yeah yeah I got I know people going like so the the final sack was one of those things where this is the limitation to me of being a shanahan offense which is what Mike McDaniel runs is they put this is for better for worse and this is what Kyle shanahan and Matt Ryan had to go through in 2015 2016 this is what Aaron Rogers and Matt LaFour had to
go to in his couple years in Green Bay or last years in Green Bay is that that offense because there's so much motion has so much stuff is they don't put the changes of protections on the quarterback even if it's a bet they put it on the center the the charges are starting a day two rookie at center in his first game and that blows my mind that Justin Herbert who has so many starts doesn't have that right to change the protection there so what they do and why I I squint at this because the shanahan offense has a lot of cool stuff and good stuff that a lot of people should take and they do is why I have consternation about this is you know my dad growing up or what he does and what like Sean Peyton offenses do and others is that the quarterback has the trump card they can change that they can change the protection if they see it if you see Dak Prescott he doesn't all the time Josh Allen has the right to change protections my homes actually has earned that right to change protections and the fact that Herbert hasn't had that license is weird to me and on that play though Nick Rawls the
defense coordinator for the car knows is funky he does some really good rule breaking blitzes sometimes to his detriment but some real good stuff they broke the protection there and what the shanahan offense do is like we have a built in hot so we're we're gonna beat the the blitz with the throw and that works all fine and good but number one I think it's Mac Wilson for for the carnels sprints to where the hot is so then Herbert trying to do the right the Herbert's kind of a robot like good and bad he I kind of I call him the terminator because you can't kill him and he's just kind of like he does the right thing constantly and just like juju juju like everything is just like I am throwing this dig hell or high water like you know that he is the terminator but he's going okay I'm throwing to the hot oh it's not there eat the sack and it's like no just throw it do something like you know like you like you said so but it's one of those things that's where you see the limitations of this offense and again canary in the coal mine whatever you want to say that's worrisome that they said no we're gonna stick with the offense that our rookie day two center is gonna have that license
and not the quarterback that we pay hundreds of million dollars to and has all these starts which is also kind of gets into coaching a little bit too which we can extrapolate from there but I having said all that not as worried upon review I knew we were gonna talk about this so I made sure to watch this game back not as worried about the offense as I thought I would be there was a lot of good moments a run game was boom busty or marin hampton had some tough ass rounds that quarter that touchdown run was awesome the passing game there's just have to say I don't know they like their guys are kind of getting stuck and they also just kind of like it's just a little sloppy at times actually though having said all that what worried me was the defense I didn't think the defense looked good at all and yeah we can say the carnels and jacobie percent and they in the carnels have some real dudes on offense I just thought the defense wasn't threatening they weren't in pressures they're blitzing like crazy at crystal lyrics gonna be a blitz guy but then they weren't doing damage with the blitzes so if you're blitzing and not doing damage that's the worst thing possible because now you're just creating weaknesses for yourself they're dropping to it to it to
it to and coverage too much and he's their best pass pressure so I that actually upon review had me more worried than anything so I guess protection rules and then defensive play that for the charges for a team actually was fairly high on and I still think this offense can get there that that that was more scary than anything to me all right you go on for us oh yeah I mean I got a few actually which one do you want to go to I could go into all right so one thing with me is again watching that commander keg into the commander's Eagles right now yeah I want to because my headline would be based on my expectations both good and bad I felt like I learned nothing except sunny styles may be illegal by week six and yeah he I think he's like locked up defense or rookie the year like I'm just like oh that's the guy that that's the dude right there like that that's like he just jumps out all day long yeah you're like this guy's going to be filthy six four can run
like that and and blows up say quam barkly on a blitz and then plays the run like that plays coverage like that yeah they they don't build them like that and that's why he's the top 10 pick no that I'm that was kind of what I expected and I don't mean and anyone that hurt me last week when I was with you and we're talking about some of these teams I was low on the commander's offense and I'm kind of iffy on what the Eagles offense is going to be the Eagles might have some online issues and which what was the pressure rate because I think at one point like jane was like 56 percent of his dropbacks he was pressured which was so nice to see on two of those throws it was the third down and then it was like hey you know when he had time this is why we like this guy so much like look how nice this looks and then you realize this hasn't been clean all game long but to your point it like think the best dad I think for hurts they were at 10 at 14 on third downs considering all the chaos that he was dealing with because that was a battle line game from the Eagles yeah land in Dickerson looks done I I I appreciate the player he was a hell of a player he just looks so
banged up that he can't move and he was like a true weakness for them run game and pass game but I yeah jean oh sorry I'll keep with the Eagles first but yeah no I I thought the underscenders stuff is just exactly how I played out like combined these guys went three of eight went throwing from under center hurts went 104 and the one was the bomb to to wicks early that he admitted he hadn't thrown that route the entire time they practice it so he was just launching that thing and it worked out great and then jane Daniels wasn't pushing the ball at all that's that's always been my thing with jane he likes to attack to the outside he can't throw over the middle fairly well but he just kind of doesn't prefer that is that when he gets pressured his eyes come down because he's such a good scramble or when I say eyes come down he's not scrambling to launch and create an explosive it's a lot of underneath underneath underneath and he went what do you go one of six yesterday on throws a 15 or more air yards the only completion was that one to Antonio Williams on the over who had a really nice game and Tony Williams looks like a keeper but I I thought both
of these teams looked pretty rough on offense and like the Eagles the run game is just 78 of sacron barkley's 83 yards came after contact and and the commanders improve their defense but not like that like where it's like this is going to be like a top 10 defense they're just not going to be awful they had three holding penalties they're off and saline they give up three sacks and they don't do enough down to down to mitigate all that hurts was explosive and had some of those but 25 percent of hurts dropaxe resulted in a sacroscramble and then 14 percent were going to expose the past that means two out of five dropaxe means are sac scramble or explosive play that's a tough way to live if your run game is going to be that poor and and this has been now been a multi-year issue or say quants to discuss rate in 2024 is 44 percent last year is 35 percent yesterday was 28 percent that again I look at kind of math of an offense can you attack can you get on base
success rate and then he create those explosives they got explosives passing still but the run game is falling off and it's like it hasn't changed and it doesn't look like it changed at all I thought they're pretty sloppy up front which is a little worrisome to me do you want to know what Kirk cousins was yesterday an area yard throws ten or more yards what one of seven with two picks yeah it felt like that those are some more touchdowns though all under 10 yard mere throw action gentious feels like what's that action genty looks amazing he did he did because I was I was monitoring that with our older guys Rogers oh it's six on 20 or more area yards he had two completions 15 or more everything else was underneath that he's the performance of people yeah he he throws some he throws some f u d balls not in like f u defense more f u I'm gonna throw this whatever all didn't work whatever that's on you guys that's that's kind of there on Rogers we can keep track of I'm mad interceptions um he also had something with a guy in a route where I still don't know I don't know it was a tight end he was mad and I I couldn't tell
like I would signal I would usually think rummo was the king of it oh yeah yeah no one was better with the hand signal of like that's an in that's an in after something went bad take a moment here to talk about raising canes and their founder Todd Gray's who as you know I've met almost 20 years ago down at LSU like wise this guy paying for my dinner well apparently you can afford it no he really is a study in the hard work I think he worked on an oil rig or something ridiculous when he first gets started not that far from where I live right now I was like you did that so the foundation was laid put in the work put in the hours and the reward is yours canes is also this year sponsoring PJ or golfer Sam Burns LSU alum Louisiana native and good friend of raising canes owner and founder Todd graves you may have seen the canes logo on his collar during tournaments this season ahead of the BMW championship Sam and raising canes hosted kids from first T and boys and girls club of Saint Louis from meet and greet and golf lessons by Sam himself at a driving range and Saint Louis and of course canes chicken figures and canes sauce the first time I remember
getting him I'm like look I do love a chicken finger I mean who doesn't who among us parents out there like hey you done with that she's three let her eat her chicken finger but it's staring at you and you kind of want it so I think we're all a familiar with chicken fingers and what they bring to the table but the first time I had a canes chicken finger I was like okay now I get it I get why everybody says hey you want to get canes you want to bring you canes should I bring back canes tonight we should get canes before the game it makes sense once you have it raising canes chicken fingers one love all right I've got one for you I think Harbaugh took the giant's job not just because he wanted to coach again and because it's New York I think he likes this roster I was really impressed with a bunch of parts of the giants win last night look it's it's super easy just go Jackson Dar just had the best game of his career last night um he's still going to take the hits you could tell Collins worth the way he was talking about him and this is what I love you've done it long enough he was basically telling you the tape from last year was kind of a mess which I had always thought it was a mess he was new it was exciting you were going to round up everything is a former first round because you have all of this hope I loved him in college but I
also knew there was a bill that came with it was like this excise tax it's like just so you know a lot of it's going to be a lot of fun but like this is going to be the part that's really alarming the Caleb Downs hit which was great on the broadcast he just did not recognize the math of that being like if he's coming up here especially the way Caleb Downs is going to be used you're going to have to account for him he doesn't he gets clobbered the great thing is that Jackson is so thick bit like another lesser man maybe knocked out of the game I thought the sideline hit was I thought it was bullshit to throw flag on that he is still running okay they're talking about it on the broadcast he's way out about he was not way out of bounds we are we're to the point now we're like we're putting these defensive players in a possible situation where slick if he's still live I've got to I've got to finish this play in close amounts the problem is these guys are so massive they end up 10 feet deep it's on the team sideline there's if you went through the science of how many times the flag is thrown for the late hit out of bounds on that team sideline versus the opponents it's going to be like 70 times more likely it's going to get the flag but I think
you know whether it's an old line that I don't really know enough about yet record who makes me think why isn't everybody trying to get a 275 pound fullback who's just basically an extra line and even if he ends up telegraphing where the play is going neighbors being back was awesome likely being the number one tight end was terrific there I think there's more to this roster and clearly of harboh we're going to take this job I wondered at first I'm like is Jackson the guy to do this when you could probably pick your spot on the next few but maybe maybe I'm overreacting to the week one win but maybe there's something more to be said about this roster that he built and I haven't even talked about the front although I'd like to say that I wish the front was a little nastier because I think the name recognition at least for me is a college fan I'm like yeah but collectively it doesn't feel as nasty it's supposed to be with all these resources that are up there yeah Abdul Carter is a real deal but it's I agree and the thing was their defense just their defense just played more sound which I guess maybe is somewhere the harboh to it or Wilson or
Denar Wilson their defense coordinator but I do think that like they actually tackled that was their issue last year is there's horrible tackling and there's so much better but this the strength of this team is going to be running the ball and that's not just a camp scout I do think the offense aligns real good like I think Francis Mauro I think C.C. I think he goes by C.C. is yeah he's moving guys that was their first round pick or one of their first round picks Dremain and Luminor was the right tackle out of like a career last year and Andrew Thomas like win healthy is like on podium for best tackles right game yeah but sure so but what's other thing is not just the old line it's just the rock what I call their auxiliary blockers like record like you mentioned they have multiple blocking tight ends like Theo Johnson Chris Manherts are both good blockers and then they got Malachi Fields the rookie from Notre Dame who's him in struggling the guy that for an Irish draft are probably the two best blocking receivers because I care about this shit but they he really was and he my next gen step body Keegan Abdu send me this
that Malachi Fields had the most crack blocks of any receiver in week one again niche stats that's like screen setting but it came up he was but him getting free on that motion you know where actually was the route because it looks like he's coming down to crack and then him getting free I thought they did a great job of pointing that out yeah it was it was it's that's again this run game is going to be the real deal whether it's scataboo whoever Greg Roman actually like he has his works maybe in passing game designs but he's real good in the run game and he will be he will be good in the run game throughout this year and I just thought dart who I warmed on him as as watching him as a rookie he still has a long ways to go I think to be a real quarterback but I thought the thing about him was he wasn't trying too many of those hero plays like he had last year I thought the balls coming out quick I mean he peppered four flat routes in a row because the cow was apparently can't cover a flat route even Brian Shawton Harbour joked about it but it was you know he had when you get multiple touchdowns on flat routes that's that's usually an easy day
at the office but I thought that was encouraging that dart seemed very streamlined maybe that's the best way I can put it like I thought his thinking was very streamlined you don't want dart hitching a bunch of times if he does your dad because then bad things might happen he might take hits but I was encouraged really encouraged by the old line the blocking and I there was kind of this is their formula and have enough on defense I don't think the defense can be outstanding but they got some juice up front but I actually thought the cowboys blocked them up pretty well it's just yeah their defense couldn't get off the field that was not of you saw it but that was they went nine of ten until that that final knee on third down the Giants did it which is like there's no way you would ever think the Giants even if you go hey the Dallas defense isn't going to be that much better but you let the Giants go nine for ten on third down like that's so there's that last touchdown drive where there's the neighbors throw which I do think is a good throw for somebody like dark who you're going okay what is this going to look like is he going to have the finesse part of this game yeah and to me that was a finesse throw because he had to get it up and over the defensive back get it to neighbors for the safety's coming back it wasn't like one of those crazy there was a
one foot window throw in there it's still open and that maybe is the more damning thing as Collins was is also saying like okay so all right that throws that one but what are we doing with likely over here why are there two how is there is there miscommunication or you just allowing these guys it felt like there were four throws there where it didn't really make any sense what Dallas was doing and I'm willing to just believe it's mistakes because it's week one and it's a new defensive coordinator but that was a really disappointing series that essentially puts the game away for Dallas yeah they had some weird weird just communication stuff with their like their flat defender I guess is the best way to put it and again the Fangeo defense which is what they're running is gonna take time because they just have rules against formation so motion if you have a guy's that aren't used to it it can bust but it was kind of like the same when you repeat mistakes that's a little discouraging where it's like fix it somebody told them to fix it like somebody yell out there like you got the flat something of that sort no the likely touch it
on which is still a wise likely like why is somebody going well I'll let him go yeah I know I I'm actually pulling it up right now so they're in quarters they cut it they have two guys on that right side that basically hit each other two the corner has the corner has the fallback he has the dron bland has to has the fallback so that's on bland to me it's on bland it's and those kind of looks and again I'm assuming here they make what's called an undercall so when that outside receiver goes under five yards and in he falls off it's to take away what they exactly ran which is called a smash concept or a china whatever you want to call it corner hitch or corner China China yeah corner hitch but those kind of concepts yeah that yeah you should see paid man's signal paid man's manning signal for that but no with the under route is going you know under the I think dron bland has to has to fall off there that's always my assessment on it okay all right let's do a couple more on anything else we haven't hit okay I'm trying to see oh yeah we already got to my Jags gushing I already I already love that I want to talk about the
bears dropping frickin uh almost we end on the bears you want to let's do I had it it was my last thing that I was going to do I I'd rather talk about that than anything else so you know I mean we could I could go maybe into you know chill out maker mayfield uh just you know relax it's a good minute on chill out maker mayfield yeah yeah he's he's he's learned nothing um but that's that's Baker mayfield like he's going to play how he plays I thought what was again discouraging was maybe that the final the final fumble uh because he had multiple uh but the final one was where he Tristan Werfs was blocking for so long that he thought the ball was out already so he what's the guy out kind of beacon side at the very end and Baker who started all these games is still double clutching triple clutching and again I was on the show last week saying hey I'm gonna I'm still actually fairly high in the box again a ponder review I was like okay there's some stuff here it was that I thought those times is like hey we gotta get the ball out you shouldn't be taking these hits anymore like he but the thing was that's what led him to success in the first stretch of last year
where you're scrambling at the highest rate possible and I think now he has to trust what he's got like they weren't they had a bad game script because of those turnovers like the run games there Bucky Irving looked good in the run game no wine is still good and the banger's defense has improved I will I will give him some credit but when he's pressured he's taking hits he's taking sacks this is the guy that win hurt he'll let you know and then also it really drops his play and so don't take the hits but again I'm not his coach but it's really for me discouraging on top of it that was the highest amount of throws he's ever had behind the line of scrimmage in his tire career 43% of his throws were behind the line of scrimmage so if you're turning the ball over and throwing that short your teammates have to do something like but they you know but we're paying you Baker made field to do something and so again I he's got chill out I think he was just so amped up to make all these big plays after getting paid and but that's Baker it's kind of the give and take Baker I will say last thought Bengals Amarius Mims right tackle absolute stud absolute phenom at right tackle Amarius Mims so guy gave him a shout out as well it was noticeable
that since the nice defense felt like they're are going to be series where it's like okay you guys are going to have some nice wins on here I know that sounds very vanilla or whatever but I mean the defense has been such a problem for so long that I was like okay it looks like there's some guys here all right I will 43% behind the line of scrimmage that's not my favorite stat of the weekend yeah let's close with the bears so we know it's 59 points 552 yards my favorite part 10 to 14 on third down even with me being a Caleb guy there's two lovelin throws in there where I'm like how you know like as I always worry about like the accuracy stuff with him because they're kind of these alarming accuracy numbers but here's the positive right you're gonna go why are you doing this or so though um it's gonna about to get real real positive he's clearly even more comfortable week one right with Ben Johnson and what the rules are he will give you the shot so the exposes are there um I feel like he's escaping with still staying in the play yep as opposed to
escaping like all young guys do and some older guys that never figured out but escaping with no plan what I love about him and I'm not putting him in this first tier of all the different things that we're doing but if you're talking about problem solvers on dropbacks facing chaos he is if this is what it's gonna be like he's going to be in that elite group of of three or four quarterback and I'm not it's not saying he's Alan or he's my homes but specific to the solving of the chaotic dropback with the arsenal that he has right now that's my favorite part of him and we saw a lot of that yesterday even though it was total domination there was still a lot of like all right I've got to kind of figure this one out here um as opposed to just clean pockets all night long because I don't think that's gonna happen if you the the two-minute drive is everything you want uh k-of-lips third and eleven breaks contained third third and extra longs are quarterbacks go do something either be a hero with a throw or maybe create with your legs like if you have a do that
can do this that's that's such an asset such a weapon but as the third and eleven throw breaks contain two is left they're certain guys that cannot throw while moving left j-o and hurts Baker like they they're just too stiff getting around he can throw two is left not only do that whiffs a frickin a hundred mile hour fastball while while moving to his left as he's like it legs in the air next play or always a couple of later in the drive throws an in breaker to Luther burden with instructor and then on the final play just put it on home scrambles and creates a touchdown with his legs again that's the that's kale wounds that's what the elite guys do not say he's a weak yet because I agree um he's also because he's a line drive thrower line drive thrower's misshard they so they miss that's the lovelin in the end zone throw yes yes um well that one got down it was in front of him a little bit but it was like hey with if I have a defensive back on me and I'm lovelin like let me win the ball against this guy yeah give me a chance and on that one
that wasn't there and those like if he ever cleans that up forget it that's the thing is like we're still scratching the surface and Ben Johnson who's a real tough critic of kale of and everybody is like gushing about him which is like all right like again some guys gushing about the guys like harbaugh I'm like all right Ben Johnson gushing about his guys I'm like okay I'm going to listen to this you know it's it's a scale they'd harbaugh said okay her words gonna be the greatest of all time when he got the San Francisco gig he said Alex Smith was right up there with Brady's and Manning and Breeze and it was like he's he's then you benched him for Kaepernick and then JJ McCarthy is the greatest Michigan quarterback ever I that was another one of his lines two about his quarterbacks and I I appreciate coaches trying to pump their guys up I do but again like how Ben Johnson goes about it I like I take I take his with a lot less salt I agree I think there's a different level of sincerity yeah the and then Caleb too on top of it is like he's just so fast and and I've tweeted this I think next year and stats is tweeted this now as
well is since last year he has seven runs or scrambles where he broke 20 miles an hour or more all other quarterbacks combined have five and he has seven uh that is absurd that's an excellent athlete right there and then on top of it he's got one of the strongest arms in the league and now the game's slowing down for him mentally again if you see him working over the middle you I agree with you that his scrambles are a little bit more with uh scrambles are explainable you know or the creations are explainable guys that scrambled just the scrambled that's where he gets a little worrisome archmaning how the scrambles in the beginning are scrambles of a guy who doesn't know what's going on which is almost every one of these dudes no matter how high you're drafted in the beginning yes but if you ain't Daniels is a perfect example of it like hey I really like it I like the stuff that's good but if you think this guy's going to survive on these one read and tuck it in run things like he's not going to and this is why he's already been hurt and I still thought like despite some of these great jane daniel's plays he needs to look at like almost the Caleb tape from
year one to the end of year two you know who knows what the rest of it's going to like look like here early week three but like if this is what it is because I'm still like he's so wild that he's so gifted and he's all of these different things um that should be the template for the other quarterbacks that can't seem to ever fit because it makes I talk about this all the time it makes sense why Bryce underwood would be like I want to just tuck it in run was like yeah because it's worked for your entire life yeah you're a specimen but eventually you're going to meet an opposition where it just it doesn't work anymore and the whole point is figuring out the rest of it and it's crazy to think there's even top ten guys that are drafted that haven't figured out any of that stuff and it looks like Caleb have never ever do and that's yeah mean the whole wine improved but the thing was too is that he's like Lamar he's got kind of that gretski thing where he doesn't get hit if that makes sense like really full on full contact hit Jay think Lamar are like their own group for me because I was thinking about that yesterday like I still think Lamar if
we're going contemporaries here at the peak Lamar it was this thing where it's like you're never going to get that clean hit on him you're never gonna and I hope that's what it is for Caleb um you're saying it's close to it I guess I just would always like think Lamar is more his yet kind of his own thing like again yeah that's why only give him the gretski doesn't take the hits you know the slippery kind of like just knows how to like get through like just doesn't take those hits but last year Caleb was only hit on like knocked down as a stat I have sets hits and sacks combined only at seven percent of his drop-backs which is the which was the lowest rate in the league so he took the fewest hits on drop-backs like he avoided those on awesome number yeah because there's still a decent pressure number on him isn't there or was the pressure number the absurd one from his rookie year I mean the server one was a rookie year yeah and then but last year was more just kind of like middleing good good it was like I would say the I would say 20s low 20s yeah yeah which is usually about league average and everything but you know I got to just because this is what I
do is I gotta give a shout out to also to what I like about with the Bears is all their star players or potential star players Roman Dune's a Luther Burton Koulson loved one I'll even throw I'm not gonna say star here but even role players like Cleaf Raymond throw dogs on a run game they will block their asses off and that's what Ben Johnson's all like actually legitimately carries this out no block no rock some guys some guys actually just say that and then they're like well we need some points now all right all right go out there OBJ you know let's go go yeah go we're going to slant these guys like and their eyes are really good so I mean they're well coach they the the long run will call him an unguy Luther Burton sifts out and shorts out the block that's what why this bears team is scary is that the stars are willing to buy into that dirty work stuff and now they see the rewards of that and then on top of it they have a quarterback that even if there's gonna be maybe some down-to-down frustrations but I'm high on Caleb so don't get me wrong I think he's
gonna be a dude it's that the ceiling he's the ultimate ultimate ceiling razors so if the floor is high and he go with the ceiling that's an offense that's elite that's like truly high high and stuff so I'm a yeah very encouraged what they did hang into the run game stuff I read to that so they they they do some cool stuff I was some scheme stuff as well if we're giving shout out let me just hit up detackle for the bills DM Walker second year on a contender yeah because he 673 330 and I was reading his gathering reports this morning I'm like what happened here and it was like he didn't test as well like those project wasn't as good at 673 30s you guys wanted me I'm sure look the people that do it for a living there's plenty on tape for him to last as ladies he did he was in that you know I always call it the edgern Cooper award or it's like who the fuck is that guy award yeah and Cooper has a nice place yesterday too that one series in particular just an absolute game record I think maybe we'll just call it the edgern Cooper award and do it every single week on that one because I the I Walker had himself a game even if it wasn't like the
bills just shut down the Texans offense there I I think his he got stereotyped and then the scouts kind of like oh is that because he's a big he looks gigantic he looks like a and Haynesworth or whatever John Henderson but then he plays kind of finesse like he's a gap shooter as opposed to like a plugger so I think some guys were like oh this is a big-hoss nose tackle and then they watch and they're like oh you're like a like finesse gap shooter type like you know took a quick hands and wins around which is like free free stuff so I do think that's actually a dinged him a little bit like to me because I had him I had some free stuff yesterday yes this is the best defense for Jim Lander because he slances guys so much so this is a great defense for him so I I think this is just the beginning of him I he was like one of my breakout players before the season but this is a reason why we had you on Mondays I already on a lot here like yeah I actually had him back in July when we're doing pre-game you're the man that is a Monday with Nate
Tyson we'll do some college ball later on I'm gonna do 10 minutes on Texas Ohio State so we don't have to do any more on that but it was just such an exciting week one and we just want to get going and rolling your pick for tonight tackle watch watch Ciani he's stud yeah that's my guy tackle that's what you're picked for tonight I'm gonna go I'm gonna go Broncos and then it's just Josh Simmons is not playing you got a backup undrafted left tackle with that changed my company yeah I know that yeah that's that's scary because the strength why I got even a little bullish on the chiefs this year was the little line so left tackle undrafted for Asian starting yeah I'm gonna get a little bit lower on that I do think the chief's defense is gonna surprise the people this year though I I think that's gonna be a fun defense let's talk to you next week awesome thanks you know what something pops up last minute and you need an outfit that just works that's when I go straight to revolve man it feels curated not chaotic you're not drowning in 10,000 results are 50 pages a product it's edited in a way that makes sense everything is styled so you

the standard for all college football here with a recent national championship and when I was watching some of the pregame stuff you know arch was great in it you know arch I think I've talked to some people that recruited him didn't get him but they loved him they loved how grounded he was in that he had every like right as a young person to maybe see himself a different way in an in a way he kind of uses what everybody expects of him to kind of like disarm them and in very humble in a way that you know can feel like bullshit with so many of these other players but there's a lot of people that really liked him but we're all kind of like waiting and is it like it's way too much hyped beginning of the season you're like how come this guy's in the highest middle as wise he protected your number one overall and that was something that happened with a mock draft even last year so waiting on this thing to happen when you're watching the pregame stuff and whether it's the facilities at Texas and you're seeing all the sayings which is not specific to Texas right all of these programs kind of talk about hey here there's a standard and we have a way and you're like like this is probably more me than anybody else just because I've been to a bunch of these places
like oh you made some fucking t-shirts and you put some sayings around the facility like now everything's different whatever and I know that everybody kind of has to do this stuff and I'd even allow that if you have this kind of positive reinforcement if you have win the day in the corner when Chip Kelly is up there in Eugene you know you're likely going to win the day they also were awesome too so I don't know if it was the sayings plastered all over the stadium but when it doesn't happen and you're getting these like full access moments and like all right but like when are you going to win one of these games all right can you actually win a national championship and I know the stakes keep getting raised it's not like they're in a bad program but you're like we're all kind of waiting on you Texas we're waiting on this moment and then Saturday night happens and this is why I love football like I love so many different sports and for very specific reasons I talk about basketball the reason I may love that one the most is that the best player can just decide at any given moment like I have to do something and take over even though it doesn't seem like any of this is going to be easy and like if the best players get to do that and just impose their will on everyone else
that's really kind of like what we're talking about here but with football it is very different in the sense that you can be getting your ass kicked for almost three hours and you've got to come off to the sideline completely frustrated whether it's another three now or you just gave up a touch down or it was a turnover and you have to come back and you have to stay in the fight and that is not for everybody I mean imagine if you were in outfield or in baseball and for an hour let's say three innings no one hits a ball at you no one notices anything you're doing right but during those three innings of that one hour say gameplay you were also getting pushed 50 times and no one cares and there's no reward and it's not going your way like that would be brutal when going back to the dugout being like all right that sucked and that's kind of what football is you go out there most people aren't paying attention anything that's happening other than the football and you're just getting your ass handed to you over and over and over again and you're incredibly disappointed I mean even think about the start of this game the place is on fire Austin is ready to absolutely erupt to get revenge to talk about this SEC Big 10 thing which has gone the Big 10's
way here to talk about Sark this coach that so many people are like yeah you know he's pretty good with the offense but I don't really know if he's that guy meanwhile we did the same thing to Kirby smart he was dumb until he wasn't we said the same thing about crystal ball until we got to national championship game well how's take fans wanted Ryan day fired the year he won a national championship so we do this a lot with coaches were just kind of like collectively I don't know about that guy and then it happens and you go all right fine great I don't know crystal ball loss in the national championship game so you come out bevos there you're fired the cannon celebrities all over the place and you first play fumble and you're like all right this sucks hold them to a field goal next possession pick you're down 10 nothing like you don't even know if you're at Ohio state's level this test like are we national title contenders can we get revenge on Ohio state we don't even know if we're the same as them or better because we're giving this thing away if you're Texas and then you're coming back to the sidelines it just continues to get worse the first half here are the
possessions for Texas fumble interception punt field goal they tried to go four on fourth down with the wing go end around I actually like to play call Ohio state stayed in their lanes they had to cover it up next thing you know Ohio state taken over at midfield on the turnover on downs they hit Jeremiah Smith for a touchdown so even when it was 13-3 and you're going for that fourth down being like hey if it's 13-6 as bad as this first half has been it's 13-6 football's weird it can look like there's a canyon between the two teams based on what you've seen play out and you're looking at the score going and look at the NFL games that we have every single week and you're like how the fuck is this a game and that's what Sark and that offensive thing are like we just get this fourth down kick a field goal man 13-6 that doesn't seem like a correct reflection of how this game has played out and then it doesn't happen because they scored touchdown with 10 seconds left on that last play and now you're down 23 and they're getting the ball back you know like this sucks and Texas still doesn't score in the third quarter in the third quarter I think we're talking seven plays
two punts like this isn't going to happen and arch I mean it's not all on arch they didn't look like they could run the football didn't look like they could defend Jeremiah Smith saying is terrific all these defensive guys 15 different players drafted into the NFL the last two years just from Ohio state defense and you're like I guess they're still good like anybody having questions to be like are they actually still going to be special on defense yeah I guess they are I guess it's not going to be an issue both Jackson's going off and he's going to like just right through the throats of this defensive line and linebacker group that we all like from Texas and in the third quarter it's still a mess some of the arch throws these predetermined bubble screens that are just infecting college football they're they're so predetermined even the quarterbacks they're supposed to be first round draft picks I imagine when they call it it's it's also like no matter what throw it out to like what if we see a bulldozer coming to kill the receiver nope still throw it to him and that kept happening you're like these are buddy peasy to get one of these
guys killed there was one throw where he actually like clutch and like it wasn't like a pump fake he just was late with getting it out and I'm like oh my god and so that all of that's happening and then Texas gets a little momentum at that end of the third quarter and then they score immediately because of how the clock worked fourth quarter you know so it's like nice to say they had the three touchdowns but some of that work was done in the third quarter Texas is able to start running the football and I don't know if it was the heat I don't know what it was but it was like hey all right we got the quick one there like now you're going to have to keep playing defense you can get on days case I guess if you want to of like playing not to lose but you know they missed that field goal this is entirely different conversation now granted that field goal would have put them up two scores Texas scored that last touchdown three 51 they may have managed the clock obviously they would have managed a lot different if they were down two scores but that's still asking a lot to get two scores like you got to get another one you get to get a fourth
score and get to even get the ball back with all of this but the point of like the saying and all this kind of stuff is that this win should mean everything for Texas like all of that stuff it should mean something the standard the fight do we have it in us that's why I think those guys were out of their minds after the game and I don't know what happened with the Sark interview apparently there's a problem at halftime he walked away from holly row arch wanted to get back with the rest of those guys he I was being sent videos from dudes that were at the game him going off like this wasn't just a win against big bad Ohio state this wasn't just revenge it wasn't just about the SEC in the big 10 it's about Texas and all of us that have been waiting on this this moment to happen and it's still like who knows because I'm sitting there going once the last time you picked a national championship game where both teams lost in week two of the college football season and that's what it felt like for a long stretch Saturday after Oregon had lost to Oklahoma state because I had Texas over Oregon and I'm like that doesn't have a lot like it's shit wrong but whoa and look as we know what the playoff all these teams after a loss would still be in it Oregon still in it Ohio state still in it
but the meaning of all of this and I don't know that the SEC big 10 thing matters you know Michigan can get Oklahoma earlier hey thanks Mississippi State if you're in the SEC offices on some of it's that the results haven't been there the depth is there the results have not been there in the national championship games obviously we know what's happened the last three years but for Texas just for Texas that program in Austin on a night like that to stay in the fight that should mean something the rest of the season and maybe a program delivering on this thing we've all been waiting on life advice is brought to you by youtube guys the NFL season is finally here and if you're like me your Sunday revolves entirely around making sure you don't miss a single snap of the action why let me yourself to one game on Sunday you should be in total command seeing every big play and every touchdown across the entirely right there on your big screen but thank God for NFL Sunday ticket and YouTube TV it literally gets you every game every Sunday plus features like multi view so you can watch up four games at once you can just lock in and watch the games unfold without missing a

for the first time really here in the northeast and then you get a little bit too excited and you throw a sweatshirt on you got side on saturday and you're like wait a second it's actually still 85 degrees outside and sweat my balls off but huh today's holding up I'm feeling a tumble AF I mean it really does it smells different today I'm gonna catch on but it's good print the shirts a tumble AF so trying to get the rights from Albany yeah on the covert they could use a little cash flow up there I think they would mind a little royalty to get back to us yeah it does seem like a few of those itself but then I feel like it would be really big on not overstocking that I'm yeah well a lot of like inventory it could be totally co-opted it's just like every city has it in their gift shop you know like now it's just we didn't get we missed out on all that money because they just plan copy and paste it everywhere yeah maybe the plan is just to have a bunch of super knees t-shirts only make like five of them and that's our plan so there's just super scarce so if you see a
secondary market then we'll get that turn it to watches and then next thing you know it's like Detroit versus everybody and then it gets then it was nann Tucket versus everybody and you know we've got too far yeah gotta go to the feedback um counting down sucks confirmation bias mayfellows want to preface this by saying I love all of you guys but end the pod but come on counting down and set sucks some pretty serious lifter and try to multiple occasions of accounting up and just going to failure is way simpler when I count down I either grossly overestimate how much I have in the tank and don't make it or completely underestimate and finish knowing I could have gone harder everyone I've asked about this grise and says that it sucks hmm that hurts the result of about going one two three four five five four three two one we thought about that or have you been know what if you go zero negative one negative two start dropping lower the Kelvin method yeah sub zero
I'm convinced that the emails you receive praising it is just confirmation bias from the small population who it works for than they write in to tell you I love that you think that that's what it could be now you might be right and it didn't work for you and that's fine um but how is it confirmation bias from us and not from you hmm sorry that one I can't continue to listen to this bad advice need to hit it your ego's a little bit love the pod go lines yeah look um I don't know I don't know if it's right I would imagine if you're like really good in your series lifter and you kind of know the range that you're in all the time maybe it doesn't work for you my trainer tried it after I talked to him about it and then he came up and was like it actually worked on a couple of things it's crazy so you know look oh I don't think there's a lawsuit that needs to happen here um but if it doesn't work for you it doesn't work for you that's fine but I I think the issue that I have to have is that you're accusing us of confirmation bias from emailers emailing in saying that it's working for them and that I've suggested it's worked for me for years and you're in the clear though
does that make any sense I'm embarrassed to say I'm not 100% clear on what confirmation bias is I I always feel stupid when I do this like gaslighting or something but I feel like this one you could explain in one sentence to me and we'll just move on is that just you're hearing what you want to hear here's a perfect example like in the draft where if there's a player that I like say Scoot Henderson and then he has the good game I'll be like see I talk okay there you go perfect right you know if you like a player you watch them through the lens of liking them if you don't like a player it also applies the same way like if there's a player who I already know I don't really like and then I go back and do the draft tape I may watch them through the lens if everything that I'm seeing I'm trying to steer towards a confirmation of what I originally thought great explanation love that I was kind of like 90% there but you know it's one of those words you don't want to use wrong I think you had it yeah what about Occam's razor win horse's favorite is that the one well go ahead I right you explain it to everyone who doesn't know I Kyle knows we'll do this
what I think it's isn't that the simplest solution is usually the right one go okay yeah I didn't know it right away I was talking about that Murphy's law everything that can go wrong will go wrong that one I know a little more powerful yeah that was I was always on my toes will came because will Kane would throw like a theory at you every now then he'd be like yeah I remember one time straight up he's like do you know what this means and he saw my delay and I went yeah and he knew I didn't know and that's a great co-host did he have mercy yeah because he was like yeah exactly you know to explain it to the audience because I just like I don't I'm this is this tough I choked yeah all right um some emails my husband says I pull three feet instead of three sheets when I saw that I immediately thought well hey your husband's right you're wrong you sleep in the same bed you pull the sheets off of him I don't know when the women got together to have a meeting about this about just we're gonna start
with the sheets and then we'll have the right to vote but I'll be well now look how late the women's suffrage movement was like it's there's some reminders but like that shouldn't have taken that long that's a little ridiculous anyway I believe I believe I believe a woman was elected to Congress before women could vote which is one of the most weird outliers of all time that's an interesting fact I think we get a good IT on that that I wouldn't be shocked because anytime I'm reading about something and then it just it kind of comes back you're like god tough run there tough run for the ladies all right so female listener official stats five four basketball comp lamello ball I'm definitely flash over fundamentals I have a sweatshirt with his face on it and honestly I really only watch for the halftime shows you've lost some equity with us here on that one 1917 by the way first woman elected to Congress so dead right there Steve there you go right I bet you the result time is being like and that's why the Titanic went down all right dad okay fine all
all right now I need you to help me dribble past a ridiculous argument my husband started he's basically become the official role referee he recently caught so this has nothing to do with betting he recently called me out and said I use quote three feet three feet of toilet paper instead of three sheets and quote what I'm taking care of business but here's the absolute kicker switching to this organic bamboo toilet paper was all caps bold his idea instead of staying with normal charm and double fly if you've ever used the bamboo paper you know it's then trying to use just three sheets is a high stakes gamble I use exactly enough to my liking because I want total protection I like to secure comfortable barrier and anything less is just a hazard plus happy wife happy life am I right the best part of all this he pretty much only handles his major business on his company's clock anyway so he barely touches our rolls at home he needs to put away the yards so the yardstick and just let me roll in peace am I being totally unreasonable I like a thinner sheet too and I like to double triple up yeah yeah I don't know I just I don't want to get too graphic but I've just
saying I like it I like the thinner I like the thinner sheet I think the number one thing is birthday present Christmas present but they see here you go now we don't now I don't want to hear it because you you complain so much and I know dudes are a little bit hesitant you know what I mean might you might sit on that thing for a year before he turns it on but the way he does it's an absolute life changer you have one right now yes you still have to wipe your own butt afterwards right now yeah if you want to be crashed about it yes you do yeah but she's guy but just but it's I mean it's more of a drying it's like a it's like a one two pass or two deal if you get one of these one with the air dryer in it dude I'm a big day new admittedly but like how is they're not also just like splashage everywhere like how is there not just how is it not just soaked to really clean in there yeah come on yeah it is you're saying it is I'm on her side I'm totally on her side I'm on her side as well yeah they're not there it's a really personal choice
I think and I don't think we should be policing you know if you ate half of the leftovers yeah we could talk about it but if we're talking to her talk of sheet numbers no and then you know this is like a roommate that never comes home going like are you really going to put that table there and you're like oh you're not here yeah I would just I would just hear it and be like yeah that's what I do I don't think I defend myself like that's what I do yeah I bet I've definitely known to use too much T.P. so I can't I can't even talk long as you're flushing the right amount and there's no you know you don't got to call anybody it's fine yeah good plumbing put some water on that thing although I will say my we you know our daughter is in the process of being potty trained and so she just likes to pull and pull and pull just have a huge old bundle in there and well that's fun that's right but it's like we're talking number one here too by the way and and she's like well dad I peed a lot and I was like logically that does make sense but it actually like having
to explain that to her is just like you know it's a little bit mind numbing but you know she just grabs like half the roll dabs it puts it in there I'm like great now I get the plunger out here we go my knees thinks it's funny to send me pictures while she's going through it the thoughts wait post like post no not not that bad but I just told my sister I was like yep she's still cute but let's go back to the outside stuff and picking flowers and yeah you know find a one yeah just proud of herself the issues wants to tell you yeah yeah she's getting there so we're all rooting for I would say like bigger picture though in relationships and look I'm not the easiest first couple weeks because it's usually you know I've you know so you're like oh great you're putting my fancy steak knives in the dishwasher or why are you putting the small spoons here and I'm not acting like it's OCD I think some people would just be like when you're
by yourself all the time and like your stuff is where it is and then if you're hanging out with somebody the long time and it's significant enough that they're like feeling comfortable to do things like that person just kind of wants to be in it and if you're a tight about this stuff I would I'll know immediately like hey just fucking who cares which order the silverware is in like who can the now the steak knives fancy steak knives the dishwasher can be kind of a bubble um because I'm a little bit of a dishwasher czar um yeah if you ever had a nice steak knife it's known in the family like no the plastic cups behind the glass ones you're like no no no no it's more it's more about like just maximizing space you know and then you know I a poorly noting dishwasher will drink you up a wall though yeah and I was a whole bunch of your mindset me telling this but like my mother-in-law loves to put like just full plates of food in the dishwasher I'm like you just you just can't do that you can't do that like you can't
nice little room there's like chunks of meat on the plate like what are we doing like not going down the drain yeah but I would say all of that stuff all those like little things be like oh that's how you do the pillows or that's how you think I think the men should just do who cares all of us should just not care like let's get together and make a pact and not care because we kind of need another guy to say that to the guy though you know what I mean you can't the port like I do want to write now I know I'm saying he needs someone to step in and say it to him because like the person he's upset with like there's a veil there they can't be broken if his dude is like dude you you're being fucking crazy right now once you say right now why you relax right that's like there's nothing you could say to that we're like right I shouldn't be so of talking about this I remember the first time I ever worked in a restaurant I put a kitchen knife in the sink and another chef came by and was like I'll you know get in chef's handle stuff with um I would say very little decorum I will fucking kill you if you ever do this again and I went okay
well this seems like stakes are high on this and it makes a lot of sense if you can't see a kitchen in murky water yeah in murky water and you're sticking your hands in and grabbing a cutting board out to clean it or whatever your load taking stuff out of the load of the dishwasher we could have a really really big problem so it stayed with me it stayed with me for a long time and then I had it happen with somebody I was with and I'm like and it was the worst I was the worst I was like so what do we do when we're putting kitchen knives in the bottom of the sink it was like let's go say that I'm taking it easy on you that guy threatened to kill me just give it to the lot and I could see she was kind of like what horrified but there's I'll take any time I've ever done the kind of okay this is a disruption to you being by yourself all the time and then having somebody else here that's gonna start moving stuff around because they don't know the program none of us if I went to sororities house and was like tasked with doing something that I'm not going to do it the way he's always done it here's the point is none of it matters none of it matters and whenever I've caught myself I'll just go what are you doing who cares it doesn't matter and so when it comes
did this I hate when like little things like this can plant the seed or these become really an extension of some other issue that two people are having with each other you know and then you're freaking out you're like you know and the little spoon should be closest to the outside because we're using them more often the volume is so much higher the usage rate the big who uses the big spoons we oh you know and then it's like what are you doing what's the last time you had soup huh exactly yeah oh Mrs. Burr Mrs. Bone broth is here we're all gonna start having bone broth all the time because you read about it you're in on a podcast this is a little too close to home for me I need some self-reflection here I'm just proud of when I've caught myself going this doesn't matter don't don't say anything do not care about it right like don't care about it all right maybe we help sorority look so she should just tell them to relax that's what we're saying I think she should
just keep going I think such a fly on a project place the bamboo be like you're not even using it Mr. All natural yeah really a day if the if she's if you're not clogging the toilet you're doing if you're doing fine I think that's the that's the that's the well it can get a little annoying can get you know yeah if you're out if you're if you're if you're you know calling for help in there yeah I guess imagine Howard Hughes he'd go through like eight rolls you know it's you know it sucks though is he's probably doing it as a passive aggressive joke that's like over and over again like the three feet not three sheets like that he probably thinks that's clever yeah he's got a lot of time on that that's a that's a bummer let me try to get two more in here um little handicap talk all right this will be for sorority six foot two oh five fifty five years old rowing machine Pilates lots of stretching there you go big guy doing it right I'm going to the gym today it's all stretching I'm not allowed to touch her weight also curls to the girls but can get
but can't get biceps big player comp zendon hamilton I just worms my heart here in his name played hard got some rebounds but always maintained enthusiasm and and a smile during play zendon was a hell of a player here's my dilemma I had a rough work life uh okay first in retail mostly unloading trucks and then as a ups driver making over 200 stops a day finally after 15 years I had to come off the road due to injuries I've had over 20 surgeries through the years from a neck fusion to hip tears down to getting screws put into my foot but the biggest problem is my knees I've had so many knee issues that I had both replaced four times are you fuck I'm gonna sound like a line that's both that's eight knee replacements oh wait wait two on each knee all right so still not that's it that's still an insane number um all before I was 50 I can walk great on flat surfaces but being on my feet for long periods climbing stairs the pain of my existence caused me problems running and squatting are possible my vertical is less than an inch
because of this I've had a handicap a handicap okay so I thought this was on golf this is far more serious um a handicap placard for years I can't tell you how many times I get dirty looks or people mumbling under their breath when I get out of my car and yes sometimes I board the plane early because it makes my life a little bit easier well I'll back you guys said you hate when you see what that happened especially when the person doesn't look handicap so what should I do should I stop boarding early maybe limp a little bit more and fatically should I give up my handicap placard until I'm older and look the part I know it's stupid I shouldn't care what people think but it's sucks having people think you were gaming the system finally great friggin show by the way my right my wife runs the timing company that times running races so if you ever want to know someone's five camera at the time except at times any good we can tell you all right we'll keep that all right so this is far more serious I'll tell you right now um I get it because you're not that old and you're walking you're gonna get the dirty looks I might even give you a dirty look at some point but what I know you are not is somebody who struggles with portion control because we had a portion
control queen the other day taking up a spot and you were like you're fine you just you just you know I'll leave it at that so man you I mean it would suck to have to get a t-shirt that just said I've had four knee replacements I know um should there just be like levels you know but maybe they should color code them just based on like severity just so you know you know like I know my so the carrots are aware right like I'm a little I'm a grade one like it's not I have some trouble with my knees whatever you just know it's like a low level situation so that okay and then there's like okay yeah this guy's full on quadriplegic like he has whatever highest level is like there that just feels like it should be done I want to say I feel for this guy I feel bad for him right like none of us are saying he shouldn't have it right but initially I was gonna have to go totally flip me like you totally flip me I don't remember saying that it sounds like something I would say I'm sorry I remember and I just and I just remembered like grow shocker like growing
up with the guys that like when they first started to drive and it's like I just grabbed my grandmother's placard and like yeah we're good right here we're good right there like it's like it's a lot of times it wasn't them it was like someone in their family that they like borrowed this from or something you know you know grandfather's dead we still got the thing as long as they don't notice the you know the the expiration date on it or where this one's good for a while like I just I've seen so much abuse of it I think I'm still gonna think that way even though I feel bad when I think that way about you but I don't think you should have to worry about it I don't think I think you earned that placard yeah but it's still not what you have to do it's that he's still gonna like you're still gonna get looks I know it's like he's doing the right thing like the parking spot I think that might just be charges of the game do what I'm saying do you do you buy do buy a cane like you just like and you only use it in public places you know I don't think you should have to do that you buy a cane is the best advice question in a long time you know you just have just so just so like you you do kind of need it like you said you're one inch vertical like your knees hurt
like walking around like maybe it's not the and it's not like I don't think that that's fully stolen valor and it also lets people know in public that okay yeah like here's this and then you feel better by yourself like I know you shouldn't have to do that but I think it will make you feel better were you a member of a union or something you get a sticker and be like that guy probably did some work you know what I mean that's probably just a long life of working working hard you know yeah or maybe you buy that you know buy the the US open half that I have it looks like the stolen valor hat you just wear something like that around so people get kind of confused and think that you might have served that's crazy I actually thought you know I was thinking when he was in the beginning of the email I was like man you know I did I did miss those early morning truck unloads at Models but by the end of the email I was like nope nevermind I don't know sometimes I think like I think the soul guys have a harder this guy proved it wrong I think but like sometimes I'm like you know would just like deliver packages like I'll just listen to podcasts all day like I know it's a little taxing on your body I like driving personally I don't really mind it um I always have to pay with my wife yeah but some people over 100 pounds of cat littered right right and the old ladies like just bring it inside please yeah that's
my two hours in I'm like okay this is probably not the the fun job I thought it might be but I also like to be by myself so it's like hey I just in the car all day by yourself you know it could be kind of that's not that that's a thing like I would say like Models there was like three guys with us for their different departments like getting shit off and figuring out where it goes like that guy's solo and whatever is in his truck is in his truck and he's just got to get it done and some people are ordering you know Poland Spring water bottles you know with five like people order in saying shit now to their house because they actually don't want to go to the store and bring it in and maybe UPS isn't the isn't where it comes but I mean those Amazon guys are bringing all sorts of shit I mean silly things like you should just go get this yourself and there's too many Amazon stories but there's like move the drill situations when somebody falls out at a factory in your life it's second worst we're supposed to keep working today what's going on here so I don't know I'm probably disproving my own it's not a dream job I just I thought about it all right we'll see we think about stuff maybe get an application into this case things get real self quick I just see
too many people where you go I've always as you said Kyle like I'm shocked when there's somebody that I would know that we like oh I've got a placard I'm like you're just okay with in the their their process is once I obtain this someone in the family or anyone has it it's just for all of you out of dinner it's for all of us like what's wrong with you and I'm like oh so I'm wrong I don't understand it and you've had real stuff and so I think it's it's a bit like when you're in the midst of a dilemma knowing that you're actually right during the dilemma and for this this isn't probably an everyday thing for you like just just be at peace on the idea that I know I'm right and I'm deserving of this and anybody that wants to look at me I mean you don't want to start going down it strangers and be like I've had four years of the same stop look yeah right because if the guys big you're probably not going to be able to run away from all right uh let's see that's so long god that's so long um and one yeah we need to quick one that's a book
um 510-185 solid dad bought never lifted to get bigger just stay in shape and start to get after a little bit more this year and get the bench up to 205 for the first time my neighbor broke my lawnmower and my question is how awkward do I make it we moved in our house five years ago two dollars both five a couple across the street as a girl the same age girls become friends and play together often that that part's gonna make this break up tough my wife has become friends with the mother let's call her Carmen and they get together often for social events Carmen's husband let's call him tailors a little different from me and we've always been friendly but I'm good with the wave and the 30-second meaningless conversation from across the street for us a few weeks ago Carmen asked my wife if they could borrow our pushmower because theirs was broken I came I come home from lunch and see Taylor mowing their yard with our mower no big deal when I go to leave my house our mower is in the driveway and when I start to push it in the garage I notice something's wrong with it it's hard to push when I look more the parts that raises and lowers the blaze he said he could use a f**kin here cracked in half
got looked at the yard and half of it is sculpt it's beyond obvious that it broke while Taylor was using it my wife asked Carmen about it and her husband said nothing happened and it wasn't broken he returned it man I get stuck with a hundred eighty dollar repair bill plus forty dollars to pay the kid down the street to mower yard while it's in the shop I now refuse to interact with Taylor recently our families were all out at the same place together I kept my distance from the group I told my wife I'm done with Taylor and let's see admits to it makes it right she said that makes it awkward for her because of her friendship with Carmen but she knows I'm right it looks like this guy's going to be in my life for a while so where do I go from here if the tables return I would have owned up to owned up to it immediately offered to pay for repairs for context both families have nice houses good jobs so one hundred eighty dollars isn't going to cause this financial trouble the mower is only two years old and a quality brand um he has a feedback thing in there we're just going to keep it moving uh I think the great thing about this is you already didn't like him and it was pretty clear you aren't going to come friends and now the girls can keep playing the wives can do whatever but you
have an awesome out like this you think it's bad because he's going to be in your life for a while but now you have a reason to never hang out with somebody you didn't want to hang out with in the first place so it cost you two hundred twenty dollars total yeah the little brox tail thing right there there you go yeah it's a bummer I think it's a bummer when you find out especially when you're like a dad in a neighborhood with other families like some people just aren't built like that they're not built up they're not built to own up to something that's even like so small you know what I mean they're just not and you think most people are and then you come across the guys like he's really not going to admit this is insane this is insane and I can tell him he thinks real quick do you think more people are like this guy or more people are like oh man what do you think that is this is like the uh I think sometimes you don't know until they're faced with like something out of the ordinary like they're good like they have just enough spine for their day to day and if anything weird happens though he's a fucking wild guard like you know what I mean but I'm talking like if we went I don't know I don't know if you just keep
it to Americans so what are we looking at like 160 170 men okay out the kids so you think it's 50 50 do you think it's actually like 90 10 it's not 90 10 that would only do it that are just willing to do the right thing yeah this is like the shopping cart theory like probably seven are you a person who returns the shopping cart or your person who just leaves it in a parking spot first to piss somebody else off later and I think most people think that they would be the person who returns the parking the other shopping cart I'm too I'm I don't want to be on that show um I like to believe in the better good and I think it's the I think it's the majority of people don't I'd say 70 30 but the 30 are real good at camel flushing as to 70 you know until until like something happens and then you have to see that there the part of the 30 I hope so buddy I hope so all right thanks for Tom Kevin Kyle and sorority all of our episodes available on Netflix subscribe to the show run for civil show
