There are three game lead for the number two seat on the brave sniffing at that number one slot.
The brewers currently hold. This is very exciting to be involved with Dodger baseball right now. I know you are Matt very excited to be involved with Dodger baseball as long as our door is closed. This is the hottest day that I can remember Matt and I ever doing the show except for one out of state moment. And we will walk down memory lane. As I did, there's a lot of talk about the heat and the super Nino and the weather and a lot of comparisons with the past. And one of them was a couple weeks ago week zero at the USC game at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. The chairs were like hot plates. You were there Matt San Jose State in the house visiting USC, a sparse crowd. People talked about the weather. And there people get a shiver in their bones just thinking about the weather. And since then it has become so hot and so super Nino is so hot.
The super Nino is putting in so much work here in Southern California that I believe that this is the hottest petros in money show ever recorded in California. In the state of California, you know, you might want to walk us down memory lane Matt to a time where one of the stops on the petros in money summer tour was in Las Vegas for no apparent reason. Nine fine Irishman at a bar where Bill Plaski used to know the fiddler New York, New York, nine fine Irishman. They decided that a radio show from Los Angeles. Now there's nothing wrong with us going to a place in even in New York City in Vegas. Sitting down in a beautiful air condition casino. Exactly right. Maybe by the shake shack. Maybe at one of the inside rooms. We've done it many times. We've done it many times. Of the nine five Irishman Matt, but that was not the case.
No, the idea was we're going to draw people in. We're going to draw people in to our nine fine Irishman bar by planting. This Los Angeles local sports talk radio show. And you know, there's people in this room. They make us do this stuff with a straight face. And I know for a fact that they cashed in on it. Man, apparently Matt Smith is older than I. Yes. He has two kids who are finished with college. That's right. Okay. And he went and visited a doctor after we were put in that adverse situation. I was struggling to breathe upon my return to Los Angeles. Was afraid I was having a cardiac event. And the doctor said your employer was grossly, grossly out of line. Yeah. Now take it a step further. Gross, no, way out of line for sending us to the nine. Why don't you tell them what it was like there at the nine fine Irishman Matt? Yeah. Why don't you tell them what it was like? I'll say exactly what it was like.
It was 118 degrees outside. On the Vegas strip right by the freeway. In the shade 96 degrees in the shade. Our crack promotion staff was sent up to the CVS to get us a fan, which was never assembled. Well, they tried to assemble it. Nor was a power source ever located. No, there was no power source to plug it in. We had cords running into the bar that they were upset with us about running cords. Someone could trip over there so we could be. Someone could trip. We are about to die. We who are about to die for great sports talk. But you guys are inside for this. So, right? We were out of line. We were on the street. On the street. In Vegas in the summer. Like we were selling oranges on Glendale Boulevard. We were on the street. On the street. Like dogs. This is fine. It's the frog sipping the freaking coffee.
This is fine. This is great. Look at all these guys. We're good. No. I had to go see a doctor and he said gross negligence. Your heart, I didn't have an arrhythmia. But he said my breathing patterns, my core temperature, that it was gross negligence that led to my current state of health and that I should sue. Now, that's what I was told. We were given two CVS fans that did not work. There he is, Mr. Cooler himself. Big, bad, black, fart, frang. From me. I hope you brought extra ice. Brother. Special clubhouse, Dodger. I had an idea, but then I flipped the script. I was going to bring you a glass of cabin, some... Oh, something. ...sup-shouter. Yeah, I think this might be a little more after that. You know, this room's a- Around this time of day, Matt and I really enjoy a port. Yeah. Just a little sudden to stir everything up. Yeah, something sweet. Something sweet and heavy and dandy.
Brad, the bartender for the most exclusive bar here at Dodger Stadium is upon us. Our favorite guy visiting, as he always does in the first segment of the show, in his I'm a Rody or backstage at a theater or bartender at Dodger Stadium outfit. And... I get dressed up when it's game time. This is to... You know, this is to shrub you guys. This is for us. And this is the outfit for us. Tell us what in the heart like you... When it is 105 in the shade. In the shade. In the shade. What's it like in Fran- In Brad's fancy bar? Yeah. It's chilly right now, but as soon as both doors open, it just... And the hot bodies are so safe. And the cold air is gone. You know, the greatest trick, the devil ever played was to convince the world he didn't exist. And just like that. Hey, you were talking about Irish times yesterday. That was my neighborhood joint for a long time. I spent a little time in Irish times on a Saturday night. You can get some work done in there.
I had a Guinness and a small finger of whiskey and told him... What a beach! And we're going to be all good. What's the end of the... What are the rich, the well-heeled patrons of your bar like when it's 105 degrees in the shade? Oh, they're very calm about it. Not why at all. Did they ask you for drink recommendations like, hey, what's the best drink for me to get here when it's 105 out? Well, it's going to be the market read the last night. It was pretty warm last night. I mean, like, 60 of them. 60 marks? Yeah, because I do a hand-shaking one with fresh juice and everything. That's why your forearms are so... Yeah, they're met. Well, also... Yeah, well, of course. Yes. Something on the backside. Ah, yeah! But this home stand has been... R.J.S. Yes it has. Like a 15-round George Forman 1977. Yeah, 77. Thriller Manin, yeah. Like, why do we have to sports too fat guys leaning on each other? Ali, Bumbaya. Well, you're the best, dude.
And you're a wonderful person. And it's people like you that get the city of Los Angeles through a heat wave with your cool beverages and attention to detail. Oh, that is good. I'm having a good show. I will see you when I see you. We love you Brad and we'll be... And we'll be... Don't you worry. We'll be back. The Patrison Money Show. Always up. For some of this... You're on some of the home beverage. You want some of this nacho cheese before you get out of here? Yeah, you don't get a shot of it. Take a little shot of it. A little bit of the nacho cheese. It's like a wheat grass shot from the Jamba Juice. I'm going to go into a place for 15-year. There you go. It was Brad DeBartender. Oh, the best. A great man. And thorough. When it comes to drink making and a hard handshake knocked the hand right off of Tim Cates. And Tim Cates is used to firing off a big 38 with that handshake. That's right. And the shake. And the shake. Point being the perpetrator. Reload. Telematto. That was that. That was that. I have a vent in Las Vegas. Now I don't want to say.
I don't want to say. I don't want to say. I don't want to say. I don't want to say. I just want to say. Johoroles. Everybody Should be today. Me. Yes. Ahh Connoról. rulers. 로ret чтобы the nine fine Irishman the fact that we I got to get then the footh Its inwardly. moment for us. Finally, it's hot enough for us to hold you accountable for what you did to us ten years ago. At the nine fine Irishman, Matt, when we were there, I want to say, now I don't want to say, be like one of those people that's like uphill both ways in the snow and exaggerate the past. No, we don't have to exaggerate this event. But I want to say that it was a four hour show. It was a four hour show. It was a four hour show. It was a full, we did not have. We did not have to dot us. We were the lake station at that
time. It was a summer remote. It was at the MG. It was at the New York New York. It was at the nine fine Irishman. And the one thing I remember is it was the first time that we met. You UNLV alumnus, former, I believe college golfer Casey, who brought us a bunch of or he was coaching at UNLV. He was a coach. He was coach. They're coached. They're coached. They're from Gorman. Remember Casey, the ASU guy. Yeah. Who brought us t-shirts. He brought us Gorman stuff. And I remember that. Scott Higa. Scott Higa came out. Brought his infant. And the infant was just cooking like an egg. The baby. And I said, you can't do this. Great sports talks. Not worth it. It's my favorite radio show. I said, no. Can't do it. Scott. Save your child. Take the child inside. We will sacrifice ourselves for Dave Weiss and the the the piton city's going to make off sending us here to the nine fine Irishman in Matt. I have one more small dig. And Weiss is going to remember
this. We thought it was all going to be cool. The fact that it was super hot. The fact that your heart almost exploded live in your chest. Yeah. In front of everybody. Would have been a real radio event. The fact that fans were purchased that were very cheap and unable to assemble or plug in the assembly was attempted. They just weren't mechanically inclined enough to put together an oscillating floor fan to keep us cool. But we thought all of it was cool because he got a shake shack. Yes. He thought that like, Hey, that's true. Here's a platter of shake shack burgers to the dying. Right. Don't you guys think I'm cool? Oh, and here's a free ticket for the roller coaster. No. Don't you guys think I'm cool? And that was not enough. It was close. I was going to say that was not enough. No, I will say there was a brief moment after we ate that shake shack where we came back on the air on a commercial. We were replenished. That's that's one of the best goddamn burgers I've ever eaten in my life. Yeah. We had that, you know, we had that early shake shack. They call it Shake Shack Shock. That's right. And we did have the Shake Shack Shock. Yeah. It wears off after a while once you smell the
butthole of New York. But we did have it initially. Yes. And I have to say that if today a Dodger Stadium is anything like the nine fine Irishman, do you remember the year of that remote day? Do you? Do you have any recollection of reeling through the years? 10 maybe 10 pre COVID for sure. No, no, I think it's I think we're looking at like 2009ish, 2009. No, I think so. Pension said money. Summer tour was going. All right. So I'm just saying if today is anything like that here at Dodger Stadium, Matt, I believe we do we are able to broadcast inside if we want. Well, the doors are closed. Yes. And no one's made us go outside. But I'm concerned for everybody. I mean, the bartender Brad, he didn't look good. He looked like he just was already sweating. He looked like Ishtar, like Warren Bady and Dustin Hoffman in the great film Ishtar. Like he just crossed the desert and the guys at the security gate are miserable. Now was this
the was this the Vegas and like Tony at the at the gate said, you know, can you tell them to turn the air on? I said in your booth. They don't have the air. He said, no, no, out here. Was this the trip that we took our wives and we went to see absent? That was a different trip. No, this was the one where this was before that. I went on sweet James's plane. I we came in and out the same right. All right. So that would have been much later. Yeah. So it was and oh, I'm getting texts from Scott Yiga. There we go. Who was there? He has a jingle, but I don't think it's in the it's not in the machine. That's a shame. He writes, is that the trip we had some young lady with him and you flew home with them through turbulence? 2016. Do you have a young lady with you, we? Where did we do? There's me and the baby. My god, look how fat I am. I'm almost way to 80. My god, I'd play guard for a division three. What's the date on that? If you tap the photo, it should pop up right there on the top. Oh, oh, oh, I can't. It just says today. Yeah.
He got text him what the date was. I got 20 says 2016. 2016. So exactly 10 years ago. Yeah. 10 years ago, we and 10 years later, here we are. And it's hot outside and you want to kill us again. But instead, we are going to cut you off at the pass and beat you to death here in the open. Yeah. No, nobody, nobody threatens, threatens with a death bludgeoning more than the Patras and Money Show. I have it here on Facebook. Nine five Irishmen check out all the action. This AM 570 radio brings the Patras and Money Show July 22nd 2015. There you go. July 22nd. Hey guys, here's an idea. We're going to send you to do a Vegas remote outside on July 22nd. And look at that. Make sense. Look who just sat down to join us. A guy who knows what it's like to stand on the mound when it's 96 degrees in the shed.
The great oral herchizer, ladies and gentlemen, a hero to us all, the master of the house, the doler of the charms, a Dodger ambassador. Yes, follow sleep is going to take a while. A star on the Hollywood walk of fame. Of course, he is honored here in the ring of honor at Dodger Stadium. He is and should be the greatest Dodger that we know on the Patras and Money Show. Bulleers beyond like who? Who else do we talk to anymore? Tommy's gone. Vin is gone. Yeah. It's oral herchizer. It's right. It's oral herchizer. Your next oral. What's next for you brother? You know it's hot tonight. Spectrum sports that LA and of course, everything else and his own car dealership. Oral herchizer. You are dehydrated. Something's going on. It's a lot of 10 degrees. We had to walk from our car. You got your boy band haircut on it. It's a surfer thing. I've been listening to him talking surfer.
He's really embraced his beach life there. Oral herchizer on your position is being called out with the 7-foot waves. I did. Yes. Wow. It was quite enjoyable. Remind you who's boss or you get out there. The real time tells you I boss. Exactly right. How did guys get through these? I mean, not every baseball team. This reminds me of a day game on Astroturf and Cincinnati or St. Louis or Philadelphia. That's when the sun's coming down. The humidity that turf is baking. The old spikes that were plastic would melt. You'd have to come in the dugout and put your feet in ice baths. We would wear frozen cabbage leafs in our hats that Dr. Bill would put together for us. Bill Bueller. Good Lord. Right. Yeah. All kinds of. We had ammonia towels, like buckets of ammonia, water, ice water on the bench with a towel in there. You just take the ice towel and just put it over your head and just create your own air conditioner. There's a lot of young kids out there listening when you say Astroturf. Well, artificial turf.
Let the people know the difference between artificial turf. I think it's because of the astrodrome. You know, that's where the terminology came. And then that turf creeped its way out into places that get rain outs because it saves the field and saves the crowd. They don't just rain the game out and it has the fields flooded. It was basically cement with green felt. Pretty much. And then it would get, and if you, you know, three years into it, it starts to get barren like carpet, right? And it's closer to just cement. You know, with the pad. Some places would put expensive padding in, but then the ball would bounce funny. Some other places you have to put the right padding into the ball bounces, but then when it, you know, when rubber dehydrates, it starts to disintegrate. It's cement. Yeah. Yeah. Let's go play football on it. Yeah. Oh, I sure did. But not to, I played, yeah, Washington State was bad back in the day. Oregon State was worse. The University of Washington for Astroturf was pretty nice, but they always tell stories about the University of Oklahoma and how bad that turf was in Norman for years. And because they ran that wishbone and they go downhill right to left, they had this crazy
crown on the field. So you could stand on one side line and you'd be looking at the other coach and you could only see him chest high. You know, I really feel, really feel you can't see the, you know, you only see the top half of the left fielder when you're in the first-based dugout. The crown was so big and you frown crazy. You round third and go home and you like, feel like you're running into the cup dugout. And it's only like 20 feet away. You know, that's pretty funny. So I know that people will think this is a bit. It's not. I mean this sincerely. Do you think we should, and you know, God bless Bill Vack and the vision that he had, you know, and trying to make his players as comfortable as possible. Do you think there's room for an extreme heat alternate uniform where maybe the guys are wearing some nice light linen or something along that line where they're not in light. You know, where they're not in this top. Well, the dry fits. Yeah, could they just wear a new outfit? You're talking about dry fit the whole thing, man. Like just like, this is crazy. But we had in spring training, we had the uniforms that had the little holes in
it. So breathe and the mesh, yeah, the mesh stuff we wore. Can we do that like for for you? Yeah, it's circumstances like, what is that point? Why not? It's a uniform feel like today. It's not as bad as you think, but it isn't pretty bad. They have lighter ones. I think they can order the lighter stuff, but I know what you're talking about. You better leave them alone. Don't do it. Like do you do something about tight pants? No, it's gonna be worse. You know what? Go ahead. If you're that comfortable with a hollow famer like this, no, no, no. What you want heat to escape? Okay. The wool hat is doing nothing but keeping heat in and really cooking and raising your internal temperature. Right. Because that's where you're so. That's where you're rid of it. Maybe a visor or hats optional. And I'm just going to wear my sunglasses today and let my head breathe and let the sweat and the heat from inside my body come off of my head. So I'm not going to wear a hat today. I'm so sorry. That's what if you let it do so, sure. What if you soaked your hat in ice water before you go out? What? I think it would. He doesn't like hat. He wants baseball players to not have to wear hats or just to choose to wear
hat. It's not wear it. It's a terrible thing. It is. It is. It is. It is. It is. It's really it's I'm going to lose sleep over it. No, it bothers me because he wasted our time off that. He was your time. Yeah. I'm valuable time. I got more questions. I got more or less time. Is valuable night games that we play now and how rarely they're played during the day. Doesn't it make sense today? If you want to wear a hat, wear a hat if you don't. What's it called when you guys have to do that special times because of games and what do you flex? Flex alert. Yeah. You have flex alert in your personal space. I don't like I hate his hat's optional angle. I think it's a fair question. And I think it's an insult to great baseball men like you. I really do. Yeah. I take that to heart. It's been a tough. We listen. It's been a tough week for hats. Just ask dog headings. Okay. You know, we should let these young men wear or not wear their hats. How they please? Listen, there's very little individual expression. I did not see the video of that, but it sounded like the umpire was a little over the top. Yes.
Yes. Just a tad over the top. So I'm glad he didn't do a game that I pitched at Rigglyfield that started so that when the sun was going down, Rigglyfield has the opening between the first and the second deck. And it's about 15 feet high. And when the sun goes down, the sun comes right through and hits you on the mound. And you can't see home plate. So I would take my hat and turn it sideways to the right close between halfway between my ear and my eyes. Wow. And pull it down so that I could look in. And even when I turned to throw, now I'm back with sun in my eyes. Now my head, I go back towards home and I go back in the shade. I, this guy would have kicked me out. Yeah. Yeah. Who would have kicked me out? You get my hat like that on my field. Yeah. That's what he said. When did he buy the league? Exactly. Right. He got his field. He's the arbiter of the rules on the field. The rules doesn't say you have to wear your hat a certain way. Not tonight. This guy doesn't want the hats even he wants a rule. He wants the rules to say
you don't have to wear a hat. It's freedom of choice. You know surfers wear hats? No. Well, some do, but you know, it's not going to be on that with the kids. It's a bad deal. But like, think about Alex call, you know, that beautiful face, that head, the bandana, like that's a guy that should be off there without a hat on, right? He looks like a guy that can perform without a hat. And it would Tyler glass now with that hair. That's hair. And Carol's didn't like wearing a hat. The seven got to the dugout. He took it off so people could see that. Well, I wore seven and three eights on game day. And I wore seven and five eights on the off days because I didn't want to become bald. And so you cut in a circulation on right here on your right around your scales. So Tommy forced us to wear the hats when we were on the bench, forced us to be in full uniform, you know, no like whatever you want, form up tops or whatever. You have to have your name on your back. You know, fraternization with the opponent, no talking to anybody and other than the media. But yeah, the hat I wore it loose. It looks good. Your hair looks good. It does. Maybe because
of the day. Well, I've got little psoriasis working right now. So I'm taking my seat. See that? Oh, yeah. Scab right there. Yeah. A little gasoline or aquifer, you know. Yeah. If you had a waterfall bang thing like man, no one wears it. I'm doing the old man comb over right now just to hide it on TV. There you go. Just doing the cool. Well, the one and only oral Irishizer is here on the, are we going to talk baseball? Yeah. I'm really covering. Southern California. I can tell you guys. I'm never really deep list of guests today. Yeah. The way we're talking. But do I mean, it's, it is pretty amazing that we're sitting here. It's August that they're trying to win three straight world series. It's, it's an unbelievable endeavor. And where do you think they're at as far as trying to do this? Or do you have any perspective on what do you think they're going to be like during the playoffs? The last couple of years were such a wild ride. I think physically they're in the same places when they were, you know, losing and everybody was worried about them. But I think mentally they're in a better place. I think execution wise because mentally they're in a better place and we're closer to the finish line and getting ready that that that that's important. You know, the adrenaline of
starting a game is there. But I think when, when games don't mean quite as much, the endurance of your adrenaline can win. And so right now I'm seeing adrenaline all the way into the ninth inning when we're making these comebacks, right? But before you would say they started the game that are into it that it had done. I'm like, okay, where is it in the fifth? Where is it in the sixth? Where's the importance in the seventh? And I think I, you know like broadcasting. You start your first three hours and your first hour, you're like on it. By the second hour, you got to rev yourself up a little bit more. By the third hour, you better have some great guests and some great subjects and really be locked in or that kind of it kind of can go down. We can really power it up with that. I just know that as an experienced baseball person that did this for 17 years at the big league level that I knew my teammates. I knew on those four days I wasn't pitching how that I got to be on the bench and create some chemistry and we got to be alive here. And it's hard. It's hard to do. And I know they get paid a lot of money. I know they're, you know,
but I'm just telling you, you still can't leave the human experience. I'm sure you know from football and the athletes around that are listening to us know what's going on. I remember playing football. You do remember it? I'm going to, I'm going to, I'm going to put myself out here, or on this could really derail all of this. We're all this, all these, all these words that I wrote down and all these numbers that I crunched earlier before the show. If you don't at least he's holding up three by five cards. Yeah, exactly. If you don't give me a little bit here, I could really nuke this thing. But I'm going to take the chance. It is such a different era from when you pitched that it feels as though a big deal is made about four days rest and five days rest and you're really going to mess with this guy's schedule and the postseason is here. Do you think by pitching Terrick's Google on regular rest that they are, which he didn't Detroit, which he did in Detroit. That's what I mean. But the guys here didn't. Right. And we kind of saw how that looked a little bit in the postseason when guys were now pitching on four days rest, Blake, snow in the World Series. And
it's just not something that they were on a schedule to do. Do you think that that signals anything about game one, game five starter, game three, game seven starter that maybe it is a this guy's super comfortable doing this. And our other guys just haven't done it. Yeah, I think there, this is such a multifaceted equation as far as rest, game one, opponent, home or away. Who's heard on the other side? Who's healthy? Who's hot on the other side? Who's not? Who can come back for game four or game five? Who's more off better off only having two days rest coming into game sixes and sevens that can pitch out of the bullpen compared to start the game? I think it's so multifaceted that we can guess. But I think we're guessing with all the information there. They are processing this to the to the nth degree. You know that. Well, he's going to do the story anyway. Yeah. You go ahead. You do all you want. So I know I know talk radio. We have to celebrate the
subject. I'm trying to celebrate. I'm trying to celebrate the subject. That's a good answer for me. I appreciate it. Shut it down. Right. You got to celebrate the sub jump. Yeah. You opened up many different. Right. And I know you got to take different sides of the equation because there are fans out there that take the negative side or the positive and they're worried about it. And you got to take the other side. But I'm that's what I'm trying to tell you. It's like, yeah, it's a great subject because you can talk about it for three hours. Is it going to lose your adrenaline? They are going to is it an insult to Yamamoto if he's not the game one starter if he's on full rest and they don't right? It's not right. No, I don't think this is not coming down to ego. This is not coming down to ranking the starters. This is coming down to strategy. And I think all four of those guys that are the candidates for game one or game two or game three or game four. It's coming down to we're making this decision guys because of this. And you know, okay, we want to go right left right left. We want to go to righties because their key hitters are all right handed. You know, it's going to come down to strategy, I think. The one and only oral her shazard. All right. That was a long segment. But oral came in and it was wonderful to

How about this? There have never been so popular. Petrosan Money, AM570 LA Sports Live everywhere on the I Heart Radio app. It's because of your new haircut. It's got to be what it is. Everyone wants to see it. Herd Oral talking about it. Now everyone wants to put eyes on it. It's not the air conditioning. Not at all. I mean, we can just blow the clock out. Who cares, right? I mean, joining us right now on your Southern California Toyota dealers celebrity microphone. It is the one and only from Spectrum Sportsnet LA. You know, they have the mural for the Japanese Dodger players. They have the mural for the chargers. Yeah, just put up the yesterday in Torrance.
There's four sides. There were when James, yeah. Four sides to that double tree. Not a bad idea. The next one's going to be No Margarcy Apara. Made it up there beautifully. Torrance, double tree. Right off of Hawthorne. Yeah. I think mine might face the alley. It's a very busy alley, though. No, no, no. It's a very busy. It's Torrance is finest alley. The great All Star, the Silver Slugger, the best looking man in all of television. Other than Oral, of course, it is. Oh, come on. We still got the AC. We got the AC. He can't take it. Yeah, the great No Margarcy Apara. Everybody here on the Petrolson Buddy Show coming by to say hello on a hot, hot September day. What's crackin? I'm telling you, really hard to follow up Oral. I'm sure you just give a bunch of knowledge. I mean, every time he talks, I learn something new. So yeah, I'm sorry. You're similar in the same way. Yeah. But you talk about hitting more than pitching.
I don't know if you know that. I can't figure out why. Thank you. We spent about 10 minutes with Oral talking about clothes. It was it was actually kind of a waste. And haircuts. Yes. And Max, and Max, and I was a viable question. Did you have a different material for days like today, just like, you know, in the clause like, hey, we're going to pull out the dry fits and you guys get to wear the dry fit or the mesh tops or something to keep yourself cool. Well, this is very rare. I mean, we have here LA. So I don't know if there's any material that exists here in California for this. So this is definitely, you know, right? Well, we were working on it. I said today, maybe we just go tie only. You know, I mean, I know John Hartung and I and Brad, as you know, we were discussing whether it's full Windsor, half Windsor. And I said, well, full, so we can be professional. I mean, let's be, you know, but that was definitely the discussion going on. So as we prepare, you know, that as you should prepare for your show, if you do one of those like short 30s ties, people see your belly button. Yeah, we don't want that. We don't want that. We make sure we cover
the ballman. Let's go. Was there not like a lot of classy show? No, if I was no mark, like, I have, you know, I'm a fat sweaty, pretty ugly guy. So if I, if I knew I had to be on. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. It's all right. You don't have to protest at all. But if I woke up this morning and I knew I was going to have to do a studio show outside, well, the first thing I would lobby for is, is let's go to El Segundo. Let's not do this. And then the second thing I would lobby for is Polos. How far had did that lobby go? And why, why are you here? Well, it was more, yeah. Why would I know Segundo? That's a great question. I'm sure our crew out there in the calendar are probably wondering the same thing. But didn't lobby for Polos. You know, I, we don't do that. You said like a group chat. No, like a hard time. I honestly think, listen, professional out there, Thai, very least sometimes we don't wear the coat because it's hot that's understandable. But, you know, I truly believe. You're a producer. I don't know. Did, did, did, did Vince Scully wear Polos much at all?
Well, they can't ever do it right? I mean, that's what's incredible. He was like a gecko. Yeah, and now it's cooler. You know, I'm sure they, they, they do have some fans. Oh, yeah, that's the first thing Joe Davis did. He got a full come here. I, I hope I'm not selling state secrets here, but you do have an undershirt on. Yeah. Do you have a rotation of undershirt? So like, you know what? This is going to take me through the floor. And then this one's going to come in the fan. Well, like, like I said, today's a first. So I didn't, you know, I didn't think that far head, but I appreciate that. I mean, you should have let me know. At least text me. You know, as far as, you know, you say, you text me earlier. Hey, could you come on the show? Extra undershirt. That's all I was looking for. Did not get that. So thank you very much. No more. So what does it look like? He looks like a bus driver. Brooklyn. Tell, tell us, you talked about being a professional. No more Garci par, they're great with us. We talked, we had oral on in the last segment. And they're talking about playing baseball when it's hot. Yeah. And baseball players get paid a lot of money at this level.
But it's hot all over the world. And there's minor league baseball. And these guys like, how do you adjust to having to be as sharp as you need to be in a major league baseball game in these kind of conditions? It's a challenge. You know, I often didn't complain when it was hot because I always felt, because I said, I can't complain about both things when it was cold. It was hot. I only got one to complain about and boy, did I complain when it was cold. I did not like the cold. So I was like, okay. And it was hot. But you tried to figure out, you how to keep yourself cool as best you can. You'll see there's not, they're not taking batting practice on the field. Now that the facilities are so nice, you know, you have things underneath so you're taking your work underneath, getting yourself prepared and try to limit yourself outside. But the cold ice towels are something you really need to stick in the bucket. You'll have that all lined up in the dugout. And in some buckets, you'll know one bucket's mark because it kind of has sometimes like that smelling salt inside with the ice, yeah, the ammonia and everything to
kind of wake you up as well. So a lot of that trying to figure out how to stay cool. You really hope your picture has a good pace on the mound as well. Yeah, very efficient and good pace on the mound. So those are other things you're thinking about. So, but I also like when it was hot because then my body felt loose. So you took that. So, and, you know, both teams are dealing with it. That's just kind of your mentality. I think it's at times maybe harder on your catcher. You were about your catcher with the gear and what they're dealing with. And obviously the picture when he's pitching right there. So he's probably thinking, let's be efficient as well. Pitch the contact. You mentioned the just what it's like under under the dugout now and the cage and all of that. Have you stepped in against one of these new batting machines that mimics the picture and how much him it advantages that now for these guys? You could take on like Sia. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. They're like, hey, I want to do it. I'm a guy. You know, I have not. I have not. Do you want to? I have not.
I would of mine. I would love to, you know, kind of see exactly what they have and what's available and how accurate it is, how it's coming out. You know, I remember that technology was kind of starting when I was coming up. I remember we had something like that in college, but it just never lined up. So it was like kind of useless. It was like, all right, you have a video of a guy pitching and then the guy throws and then the ball doesn't come out and then the ball comes out. You know, it's like, all right, well, man, boy, I'm going to be late on this guy. Holy smokes, you know, so it really didn't help. So the technology is obviously evolved and to where it is today and what they have. But yeah, I can really see the different applications and uses for it to be able to see a picture and see his release point on a regular basis. The guy you've never faced, even guys that you did face and you're like, man, I really didn't pick up the ball. I really didn't see it coming out of his hand. There are some issues. Yeah. The Bob Gibson machine beat the crap out of like 20. Yeah, yeah. Well, you just you just went in there knowing you're going to get you're going to have
bruise ribs. I'm going to come out with bruise ribs. I expect that, you know, and then, you know, what? There's another thing you can work on how you're going to move when you're going to get smoked, you know, because that that was an art in itself because there were times when I'd go in the batter's box and I just tell the catcher, keep it low and because I know what it was coming at me, you know, just keep it low. That's all I tell you then. I take my, you know, I'd get hit good or first, you know, and I've had other pictures like look at me that I know who it hit me, like, you know, I had to do it. And I say, yeah, but wait a keep it low. Thanks. What do you want? You know, all right, we're good. What about the ass? Like where do you want? Yeah, in the leg. You know, you know, the you don't want obviously nothing at your head. Right. That's when you are set, but you don't want like the one right in your square, your back or in the ribs. You don't want that so just keep it low, the leg. And I remember there a couple of times too, it's like they threw it me, missed, and I'm looking at the catcher. I didn't move. I'm staying right here. And here comes it and he goes, I know he goes, where that bad is not your ball. So you have those moments, but
yeah, there's just things that are, you know, that you know, we're part of the game and the way to do it and do it right. Well, we've been around the last few years and this thing ended with a parade. Obviously, they're trying to do something that nobody's done in a long time and in this time, it's it's pretty wild. What do you think they're at at this point as far as what they're trying to accomplish? It's obviously hard to go to win one, let alone back to back. And then obviously, a three-peat is extremely difficult, but you know, these guys are professional. They work extremely hard. We sit on a regular basis. You know, it's really easy to be either complacent or to be kind of, I don't need to work maybe as much or I don't need to take that extra work. And here we are in September, here we are late in the season and these guys are still out here early. For early work. It really says a lot about them and their mindset and what they have unfinished and their goal and their professionalism and what they're all about. That is really impressive because
I'll tell you, you hear the dog days of August. I always say, what's the difference between the dog days of August and September? Your body is exhausted and because there's that transition when you're going through the season, August, it's when you really are just exhausted and your body needs like the second win, kind of that adrenaline. That's where you hope you're in the playoffs. That's why September is September is like to play off baseball and that's your second win to get you through the rest of the season. Sometimes days off are really tough in September because your body is like, oh, thank you, you're shutting down and it takes you a few days to get back when you do have that day. It's kind of a challenge in and of itself. But with that feeling, these guys are still out there early. With that feeling, these guys are still preparing and still focus in doing that. And that just says a lot about them and who they are. We often ask you when you come up, hey, what's wrong with this guy? Why is he hitting right now? Let's take the other end. What do you notice from Teosker and Tommy Edmond and why are they hitting so well and how can they keep it going?
Well, Tommy Edmond is fun. He's fun to watch from both sides and in the best compliment, he's just a ball player. Just all around everything he does from the defense to offense. He's fun to watch. Does things right? The way he plays the game, everything about it. The way he goes about his business, fun to really watch. I'm a guy who really watches the bat path and awful lot. That's the first thing I can. Everybody has different keys. Maybe if they're evaluating somebody, what they look at, whether somebody said I'm looking at their lower path, I'm looking at their upper path, I am following the bat path all the time. And I think a lot of that has to do with because of my position and playing shortstop. I was always watching the bat path of the opposing player as it's going through their zone. So I can get a good jump. I can recognize a guy's path to the ball where the ball is going. I'm already taking a step before the ball is even hit because I know the guy, the way the path of the bat, it has no choice but it's going to my right or it's going to my left. I can tell you there are certain guys watching the path of the bat where I didn't get up. Great jump
because they did an unbelievable job getting the bat in their zone and staying inside. I can't get my job. I literally had to wait until they made contact because they could hit it either way, even if the ball is coming inside. I can think of Michael Young, Lance Berkman, Albert Poole holes, these guys. The way they're back got in the zone. They almost had an advantage over me. I felt like it's shortstop because I had to wait for other guys. I was already anticipating I can get a good jump based on where the ball is going. So since I'm watching the bat path that watch these guys, I watched the way they're back, path to the ball, how it's going, the angle, the barrel as it's coming through their zone. So I'm constantly looking at that. And then from there, I can try to go backwards and say, okay, if it's not going through their zone correctly, what's causing that? And I kind of look at that. So the path that Tommy Edmund from both sides has just been still locked in. Looks great. Since he's even come off the I.L. Teosker now, his bat path is so much better. His timing is better. I think a couple things from Teosker I look at is his barrel doesn't wrap as much. So as he's ready to load, his barrel doesn't point quite as much to the pitcher.
When it does that, if he does too much, it kind of creates a loop and you get a little slow. He's opened up slightly his front side, which also allows you to feel a little bit quicker, because you clear hips. Those couple of things and he's locked in. It looks great. We always talk about Mookie Bats. Mookie Bats locked in. It's all about his bat path. Just saying above the hand, barrel, I watched that constantly. When he's in trouble, the bat path drops, the barrel drops. And you know, you hear see that flare to right. I talk about that with Cowtucker. The struggles he's had. There's the long, which causes the bat to look like it's loop and looking long. So there's a lot of things that I just see with different players. And it's so easy for that bat path to be off. Scams hard really is. Over time, different things, injury, fatigue, timing, whatever it may be, causes that. But it's the key is trying to get that back as consistent as possible. One of these days, no more may have to become cases. The Dodger hitting coach, maybe one day, you know, come take the tie off like Superman come out of the phone booth and handle it all.
There's nobody like no Margarit. See a par. Great baseball knowledge, great baseball school for our listeners and for ourselves. No, Mar, you're the best. You're welcome to stay here. They're going to bring in the hot dogs. It usually brings the temperature about up maybe two or three degrees, but we should be okay. Yeah, those boiled hot dog. Who doesn't want a boiled hot dog in 105 degree right now. I mean, I said, I mean, there's nothing like that. You know, the Dodger's probably going to make hundreds of thousands of dollars from the sky. You know, maybe you know, a hot latte on the side. Cinnamon cream latte. Let's go. Let's get down to the torture booth. Yeah. The great no marker Georgia Tech. Oh, and one. Oh, God. Thanks a lot. I was leaving with a smile. They're not. That's the looks great. That's a lot. The one in the only no mark Garcia Para are hero. Thank you. No, Mar and you're welcome to stay. You guys are the best. Thanks. You're the best. Wow. What a first hour. And we're not even we have another segment. We got a doctor
this up. We've got to find a way to doctor this. I just blow through it. You know, that doctor stadium, that type of attitude. The boss isn't here. That's what got us in trouble the last time the boss wasn't here. We got yelled at in the hallway and dressed down in front of everybody. You know, hey, it's alternate clock day. It's embraced it that way. Today is alternate clock day. Today is Phantom toll booth day on the pants of somebody show. David Vase still to come. We got a lot of great sports docs still to come. But great live guests. All right. It's a great start. And then the prince of Whittier. So Marcos. Yeah, par Whittier. Where the girls are prettier. I'll say Whittier College footballs back this year. Like Jackson Brown says in the pretender. Show it. Do it. You wouldn't do it. Big thank you to Omar. Big thank you to Oral. If you are listening to this on a podcast because we had a little bit of transmitter problems, feel free to watch out the show. Yeah. Stream it live. Stream it live right there on the iHard Radio app. Or podcasted later. Those are good interviews. Transmitter be damned. You can listen to the Patronon Money Show live anywhere in the world. As long as you have the iHard Radio app,
the AM570 LA Sports Tile and a smart device with a signal. You're good to go. KVMAHAPON. We've got Yoshi Yamamoto pitching tonight. Roki Sasaki was out there seeing how long he could stand on the mound and not cook like a shishkabob. And everybody at Dodger Stadium seems to be hiding indoors somewhere and are sweet, especially for Dodger luminaries like Nomar and Oral has never been more popular. I sold it that way though, guys. I told both guys. I said, hey, it's going to be 71 and cool. Come in the air conditioning. Yeah, come on down. And we are enjoying the air conditioning and there has been very little pressure to go down on the field. I mean, I think it's more desirable to be in here. It feels like if we are here, they'll come to us. I'm talking about you. If you cool it, they will come. Usually, the pressure to go down on the field comes from one person in particular. But today, Matt
Money Smith, as we look down on the field, is not covering a psoriasis hole. No, it is not. As I look down there, unless we're going to talk to that chick that Dave Weas dated for a minute, I don't think there's anyone for us to interview. Stephen Craig just coughed. And she's literally the only person I see down there. She's now in the dugout, getting her camcorder set up. And outside of that, there's like an ant be looking lady in a blue dress. Oh, la Venezuela. I mean, there truly is nobody down there. Wow, I did see glass now doing some long toss. The pictures are out there, but they're not going to talk to us. And the fans, the early people, Matt, are very inconspicuous. Yeah. I mean, truly, there is, this is easily the least populated we have ever seen the field at Dodger Stadium during one of our live broadcasts from our suite in the entirety of our live broadcasts at Dodger Stadium. If you're having a little trouble with the terrestrial radio, meaning on the dial of a radio, like we used to listen to
radio, you can go to the app. There's a little static on the terrestrial radio tonight, apparently. But you can head to the app on the iHeart radio app in the stream. It's loud and clear. We are live in the Dodger suite. It is Toyota suite night on the Petros and money shelves brought here by your Southern California Toyota dealer. We make it easy. And Matt, if you stick around tonight after when Tim Cates starts Marongo Casino Dodgers on deck, we are promised a plethora of Toyota influencers here in the suite. I don't know what that means. My friend, Doug Engold, husband of Bill Handleshow producer, Anningold, was in a Toyota commercial once where he was like a salesman in Polo and he walked by and he's like 1.9 APR and he walked right off the commercial set. How long ago was this? I don't know, maybe like 30 years. Okay. You know what? I don't see how that's relevant to these modern influencers that are coming into the suite tonight. Doug is like 60 years old. He's going to come in here and point at us.
You know what I really wish I could get that APR deal now, Doug? There is a, I don't know if you've seen this, but you know, I have daughters of a certain age. My youngest Preston is 19 and this is a big thing with her age bracket. They wear t-shirts that say I got lobotomized at Toyota Thon. And it's like an inside joke that's a very popular TikTok meme or something like that. So maybe some of the lobotomy Toyota Thon people will be in here. No, man, I've never heard of that. And I think it's to use the Toyota name in that way. I think it's grossly racist. Very popular though. I think it's wrong. And I do want to say this. I did see though on a billboard on my way up the one 10 today that it is truck timber at Toyota. Well, I'll be truck timber. I don't know what that has to do with getting your front a low but yeah, I don't know what the joke, the thing the kids find funny these days is completely foreign to me. No, you know what? They don't know about mental hospitals when the people in the white coach used to pick you up and lobotomize you. That's right. Now while our mental patients are running
up and down figure row, right now. Son of bitches. All right, we'll be back with more petrists and money on AM 570 LA sports. Word number song of the day. Podcast day, Vase. There it is. I got lobotomized. Oh, they even got the logo. It's like a crazy. I got a lobotom. I have a T public account. Let me get out on the 24 bucks on a T public. I got a lobotomie done at Toyota. I don't know what the humor is, but there it is. Petriss, you wore that shirt and Toyota has eliminated your deal. Congratulations. You're you're fired. You're not driving a chavette. I have threatened on a couple occasions to jump to Kia. Oh, yeah, but it's never going to happen. It's Toyota sweet tight. We'll be back on the petrisson money show. There's our cheese. It's here. We have our nacho cheese as a ride. Cheese. Hey, goodness. The entire draft room groans because you just took
