Link is in the description down below this video. If you're interested in taking advantage of that, but we know it's coming up on Saturday night. The biggest game of the early part of the season for the long horns. Ohio State coming to town. It's going to be a rematch of week one from 2025. Again, top four matchup in terms of the AP poll. Last year, archmaning rolled in not getting his first ever star for the long horns, but the first time where he was the guy in 2024. He started versus ULM. He started against Mississippi State played good well against them, but Ohio State was a completely different beast. And unfortunately for us, archmaning did not play his best game in that matchup, completing only 17 of 30 passes for 56.7% completion percentage, 170 passing yards, one touchdown, one interception. We know that needs to be better. You can make whatever excuse you want to make. Oh, Ohio State's defense led the country and points per game.

You could say arch was still young and settling in. Make whatever excuse you want to make. The point is this year, if we want to go where we want to go, it doesn't matter who's lined up against across from us. It doesn't matter if it's the Seattle Seahawks matchup across from us. We got to score points. We got to move the football. And archmaning is at the forefront of this as our starting quarterback. ESPN's Kirk Herbstreet, their number one color, color announcer on the broadcast. He went on ESPN this morning and he talked about some of the things that archmaning and the Texas long horns have to do to be a more effective offense. Starting from Daniel Hager with on three Kirk Herbstreet said, this is a big test for him. Ask anybody. If you can't run the football, I don't care who the quarterback is. I don't care what the passing scheme is. It puts everything on the quarterback. The first thing Steve Sarkeesian told me this week was we went out and got a couple of running backs and we feel good about our run game.

We've got to get back to being more balanced. So first of all, we're hearing Sarke tells Kirk Herbstreet the thing that inside Texas has been reporting all off season, which is we want to run the football more. Then Kirk Herbstreet correctly points out you got to be able to run the football. And Texas, last year the run game wasn't good enough. Week one, the yards per carry weren't where you'd like to see them be versus a team like Texas state with a high state going to be a significantly tougher defense to run on. So we've talked a lot about Texas's run game. I want to keep this video about archmaning, but the run game has to improve because you do not want to put everything on archmaning's plate. That's sort of what we saw last year. He walked into the season with frankly impossible standards to uphold and standards that were set by the media. It wasn't set by the coaching staff at Texas. It wasn't set by insiders for Texas.

He was set by the media because of his last name and because of the fact that he was the Longhorn's quarterback and Texas is a program with a magnifying glass on it, which makes sense. You understand the pressure is a privilege. There are some programs that don't have the magnifying glass on them and people don't talk about those programs. It is better to be one of those programs that comes with the magnifying glass than a program that doesn't. But when you are at one of those programs, your strengths are going to be built up sometimes into a greater form of yourself than you actually are, which is what we saw with archmaning going into last year. And then on the flip side of that, if you make a couple of mistakes, the media is going to tear you down more than that. And that's what we saw from archmaning. We saw the highs and the lows. Preseason, everyone made them out to be the next great, huge thing in college football, even though he was largely, largely unproven at that moment in time. After that, archmaning comes out in week one, puts up the stat sheet that we read off a little bit earlier.

His passes were inaccurate. He had some guys open that the footballs would hit the dirt right before guys or he was just a tick late in terms of reading stuff or he wasn't identifying at all some of the tricks that Matt Patricia, the DC for Ohio State threw it in last year. And because of that, the media did a 180. People started just saying, oh, you archmaning is so bad. Archmaning is this and the media sort of stopped, they stopped following him as close and sort of missed a lot of the development that archmaning underwent as the season continued. And Kirk Herb Street talked about what changed with archmaning that had him playing better. He said, I've never talked to arch about this. And I don't know if it was because of the almost unrealistic expectations that were on him. But remember, the first pass he threw just came out strange. It was fast and it didn't look accurate. As the year went on, he finally just settled in and said, I'm not going to try to be paid manning. I'm not going to be trying to be Eli Manning.

I'm just going to be me. And I think mentally, he really grew a lot last year. So this is what we also heard from earlier in the off season. After hearing it from our insiders with inside Texas, that archmaning is a lot more comfortable. He's a lot more confident. He's talking a little bit more trash, which is a, which is evidence of this shift in mentality. But what Kirk, Kirk Herb Street is saying about archmaning is the exact thing that we've been hearing from everyone within the program. Arch is just being himself. And mentally, that changes how you process things. As a quarterback, the mental aspect is more important than any other position on the field. If you are taking an extra second to do a double take or over think something or for anything that makes you just think for an extra quarter second longer, that can be the difference between lacing in a pass that hits a very tight window or getting that pass center

septage. So arch being able to have that confidence and just focus on being himself makes a huge difference for Texas offense and it's going to turn him into a much different quarterback. And that's what we saw going through last season. In the second half of the year, archmaning was significantly better than the first half of the year. And a big reason for that was the expectations were lifted off of his shoulders. Mostly after week one, but certainly after the Florida loss, the ridiculous preseason expectations and preseason height for arch was essentially gone. So he was able to just sit back and develop at his own pace, which was honestly good. Even for even for him not reaching the overall expectations that were set in the preseason, his development was still a, we're still what you would ask for out of a top recruit. And people don't talk enough about that. But once he had those expectations off his shoulders, arched continued to get better. And that's why there's so much positivity and a good feeling of confidence around archmaning

going in to this season. Now we have more on arch, what his teammates think and how he felt about his film in week one of last year. And we're going to get to that. But after a quick word from our sponsor, if you're running a business in Texas, real estate, construction, manufacturing, you need to talk to fellow Longhorn Drew Smith at Hubb International. Most companies outro their insurance and never even realize it until a claim gets denied or a gap costs them drew builds tailored programs, not generic quotes. He's gotten denied claims paid in full and saved one real estate portfolio nearly $500,000 through his smart restructuring rates are shifting right now. If your agents only answer is it's a hard market, call Drew Smith, 2103938382. That is 2103938382. Talk to Drew before your renewal, not after. Link in the description. Now, it's not just me talking about how that week one game versus Ohio State wasn't good. Arch himself has come out and said, according to Nick Kosco from on three, it's rough film to watch.

So Archman being critical on himself, he understands that week one was not good enough last season. And this year that matchup has to go differently. We have the advantage of an entire season of watching map at Trisha's defense for Ohio State. So now, Sark and flood and Arch are going to be are going to have more film to go through to figure out what we're going to have thrown at Arch defensively. So that's an advantage as well. Last year week one was Patricia's first time being a college defensive coordinator for Ohio State. So you really didn't know what we were going to get week one on top of that. Ohio State sent three top 11 picks on defense of the NFL. So talent wise, they backfill talent at any elite level, but they're not as talented defensively. Or we think this point of the season as they were last year. So those are two things they're going to help Archmaning be more effective offensively this year. And we are hoping for a better outcome than what we saw in week one last year.

Now, a great article put out by Eric Naline of inside Texas. He dropped inside Texas Intel. Texas has a chip on its shoulder heading into Ohio State. Now, we know why Texas is going to have this chip on the shoulder loss last year. And as a lot of people are pointing out, if Texas plays, you know, Texas state in week one of 2025, a two lost Texas likely makes it into the playoffs. So that's another reason to put a chip on your shoulder versus the Ohio State game. But what I really want to focus in on from this article from Eric here is what the sources are feeling behind the scenes on Archmaning. Eric wrote a source acknowledged that Arch had nerves this time last year, but that's mostly behind him. They're always there in some degree for a big game. Of course, you know, if you've played a sport before and you should probably a little bit more nervous for a big game. Arch is much more confident this season and has had a strong week of practice.

The coaches and players have a lot of confidence in him. You might notice a trend in the maturity department with a Wingo Simmons and Manning exactly what we want to see some of our top veterans, some of our leaders here being more mature than where we were at this point last year. But I just want to continue to point out the trend of every single article, every single report talking about Arch, confident, more mature, just overall developing. And that's what we need out of Arch. Last year, the only way we're going to be able to put that behind us is with a big time win on Saturday night. Arch is going to have to find a way to play better. The surrounding cast is certainly improved around him. It's going to be a big game. Going to be a very closely contested game and I cannot wait to watch it. That's what I got for this video. If you stuck around this long, I appreciate you taking the time to watch the video all the way through. Please hit that like button if you haven't already.
