Bomb Attack on Police Station in Belfast

On April 27th, a bomb went off outside of police station in Dunmery, just outside West

Belfast on Saturday night.

Police are calling it an attempted murder, with no one hurt but the blast shaking up the

whole neighborhood.

It sounded like a car smashing into a wall to folks nearby, and their pointing fingers

at the new IRA, a dissident Republican group.

The attack kicked off when These hijacked a delivery driver's car and nearby Twinbrook

right after 10.50 pm.

They rigged it with a gas cylinder bomb, made the guy drive it to the station, then ditched

out front before bolting.

The thing blew up as officers were hustling residents to safety.

One dad, home with his two-year-old and four-year-old kids, thought it was just a crash at first

echoes of the old troubles days.

Neighbors showed him picks of the burning car, so he grabbed the little ones from bed,

packed up quick, and headed to family for the night.

The cops cleared the street fearing more blasts, and they couldn't go back till Sunday afternoon.

The police federation slammed it as pure madness from desperate folks, saying it achieves

nothing but pain for communities and threats to officers.
