Coach Mac: Tennessee Titans Legend Passes

On April 14, Dave McGinnis, the longtime coach, known as Coach Mac, passed away on April 13th at age 74.

He had been the Tennessee Titans radio analyst from 2017 through this year,

wrapping up a career full of football fire.

The Titans share the news, noting he died in Nashville surrounded by family.

McGinnis spent years in the pros, coaching linebackers for the Titans from 2004 to 2011.

He then linked up with Jeff Fisher, moving from St. Louis Ram's assistant head coach to Los Angeles

when the team relocated. After five years there, he came back to Tennessee to take over radio duties.

Tributes poured in from teams he touched. As Arizona Cardinals head coach from 1998 to 2003,

he posted a 17 wins to 40 losses record. He nearly became Chicago Bears head coach in 1999,

but stayed loyal to Arizona. Cardinals owner Michael Bidwell called him a passionate ball coach

who loved the game and his players. Earlier, McGinnis built his rep as Bears linebacker's coach from 1986 to 95,

then Cardinals defensive coordinator in 19, 96. From Independence, Kansas, he starred as a defensive

back at TCU, graduating in 1973 with a business degree and kicked off coaching. As a graduate

assistant there, McGinnis left the mark from college sidelines at places like Missouri and Kansas

State to NFL booths, always bringing that coach energy. Rest in power, Coach Mack football feels

a little quieter without you.
