After Ohio State's pro day,
the only thing I'm sure of is that Rbell Reese
is not going to be available at number seven
and that defense may not be the first side of the ball
addressed in the NFL draft.
You are locked on commanders.

Your team every day.
Welcome inside today's episode of Lockdown Commanders.
I am your host, you are guy on the ground,
David Harrison, and on today's episode.
We are on the ground in Columbus, Ohio.
My notes observations and how the players did on the field
at Ohio State's pro day and more,
including Cardinal Tate,
spending just a little bit of time.
I do mean a little bit of time,
two or three minute interview with Cardinal Tate
a little bit following his workout was gracious enough.
I mean, I do did a lot of media gracious enough to come through
and speak with us on today's episode.
But we're going to start it all off with my three takeaways
from the Ohio State pro day.
No less.
I mean, you've got Rbell Reese, Caleb Downs,
Sonny Styles, Cardinal Tate,
Minimum, four guys,
first round projected players.
This team is going to have six or seven.
I think players, maybe more actually,
eight or nine players drafted in late April.
And so a lot of teams on hand to see this team do their pro day.
So I wanted to be on hand as well to go ahead and get some notes from,
like I said, on ground observations for you here.
My three takeaways.
Rbell Reese is top three in this NFL draft class.
He's top three in the NFL draft.
He should be top two where he should.
I mean, and that's speaking directly to the New York Jets.
And I can't tell you that Aaron Glenn had coach of the New York Jets
was on hand was paying very close attention to Rbell Reese's workout.
But of course, he was professional.
He was paying close attention to everybody's workouts.
But I can tell you that just Rbell Reese,
the way that he moved, the way that he was able to kind of smoothly
go through the drills and I understand there's some screenshots
and all that kind of stuff going on out there.
Look, a lot of people who have been doing this for a lot longer than I have
and evaluating players a lot longer than I have.
Like Lewis Riddick could kind of sound it off
about the whole screenshot comparison thing.
And I'm just going to kind of leave it at I agree with guys
like Lewis Riddick.
So that's going to be all that I say about that topic.
I'm just telling you right now, Rbell Reese
should be going off the board.
Number two overall to New York Jets if they have any sense
of how they want to build their football team.
And if they have any doubts in his ability
and athletic abilities specifically,
I don't know how they have those thoughts.
And then he was doing the rounds as well.
It's being a lot of media doing a lot of things
and just comes across as a very humble type of young man.
We didn't interview him here because he's not coming to Washington, right?
So don't want to eat up a whole lot of airtime for someone who's going to be off the board
well before he's going to be, you know,
into his draft party mode and all that stuff.
Well, before the Washington commanders come on the clock.
But Rbell Reese,
if there's any doubt out there, any question out there.
Again, from my two feet, my tento standing on the same field
that he was standing on doing his workout.
Absolutely crushed it.
Absolutely killed it.
Don't need to make it about, you know,
is he better than somebody else or is he this or is he that?
I'm just telling you right now he is a bona fide top three talent
in the NFL draft.
Should be number two overall.
Also, safety caled down.
My second takeaway from the pro day here in Columbus,
Ohio, that dude can cover a lot, a lot of ground.
I'm back on the downs of Washington train, right?
So we've been having this conversation over the last few mock draft Monday
and things like that.
And I've been very vocal.
Is that listen, you're just just from what I know from caled down right now as it is,
which is still, you know, a month away from the actual NFL draft.
And from what I know of Nick Cross as it is,
which is, you know, still a month away from the NFL draft.
And I'm going to say,
and from what I know of Nick Cross as it is,
which is, you know, still a month away from the NFL draft,
and certainly haven't seen Nick Cross in Doronte Jones scheme.
It just seemed to me like Caleb Downs and Nick Cross.
Maybe we're kind of the same type of player and did a lot of the same things,
which is not necessarily a bad thing, right?
Redundancy on an NFL roster is not necessarily a bad thing.
It just is a question of how are you going to use both of those guys to make sure
that the redundancy is not a negative, right?
So you like you look at the running back room, for example,
Rashad White, Jerome Ford, very similar type players.
Jeremy McNichols can even do similar type stuff to what those two guys can do.
I think Rashad and Jeremy and Jerome Ford have kind of shown a little bit more upside
in their career so far than Jeremy McNichols has,
but Jeremy certainly has been very steady.
So having those three guys who are a little bit redundant to kind of compliment
to Cory Cross, you may not necessarily a bad thing,
because it gives you three bites of the apple going out there and finding a third down back.
So there's reason behind it.
There's a good angle to go at it from, but on the defense,
typically you only need kind of one knit cross type of guy.
However, Caleb Downsway, he was able to fluidly move through his drills.
I posted a few videos, few clips of him doing his drills on Act at the Harrison 82.
If you didn't get a chance to see those and want to see those move very well,
track the ball very well, high-pointed the ball very well.
And again, another just very humble young man didn't do anything on the record with him.
He's been a lot of time with his parents and I'm, look,
there's a lot of things about media that sometimes it's like,
you got to do it because it's the job.
And some of those things I understand, one of those things I don't understand
and I truthfully will probably never understand and never become a part of
is interrupting someone's family time to try to get a quote.
So Caleb Downsway, a lot of time with his parents,
and I'm not going to sit here and lie to you and say that other media members didn't go up there
and willingly interrupt his family time to say,
hey, can we get you on camera?
And they did, I'm not that guy.
I apologize for that.
That's just who I am.
That's just who I'm going to stay.
So no, I did not get Caleb Downs on record.
However, it did see even the cafeteria a little bit,
really good to do it, really humble guy.
It's been a lot of time with the Giants group there.
Harbaugh was there.
We talked about that a little bit in my notes as well.
So I went dive too deep into that.
But Caleb Downs, absolutely.
For those of you who have been in the comments being like,
dude, Caleb can do this.
Caleb and Nick Cross can be a thing.
Caleb can cover.
Don't worry about it.
I'm back on that track.
So I'm going to do his deep dive film study.
We still got to do Nick Cross's deep dive film study as well.
So again, everything is incremental.
And every piece of new information gives you an opportunity.
I have this conversation with a lot of all-access membership.
Not every day or club members that, you know, nothing is,
nothing is ever set in stone, right?
Like March 25th, you may wake up with one opinion.
You get some new information that may change that opinion a little bit.
But guess what?
March 26th, you may get a different opinion that changes that opinion again.
It may go back.
It may just alter.
So that's just the way that I operate.
Never I'm going to be too set in my own opinions that I'm not willing to receive new information
that could say, hey, maybe you were wrong.
And hey, you were ahead of the power curve.
If you've been saying that all along, I can definitely envision car-nelled tape stepping in
as a Z receiver as a rookie for the Washington commanders after the Ohio State Pro Day.
And then transitioning when it's time to the extra-sever position to replace,
step in the place of Terry McCorme when the time that Terry's time in Washington is over,
which as far as him playing the X position could be 2026, right?
We talked about this before.
Terry McCorme moved me into the slot, makes a lot of sense to me.
And when I pitched this idea here on the program, made a lot of sense to a lot of you guys.
Terry McCorme moving in the slot.
But if you do that, you not only need an outside weapon opposite of that extra-sever spot,
but you also need now a new X receiver.
And then for the trailer and Berk's coming back onto the team, I still like him doing a little bit of power slot stuff.
The Army Brown is back.
He's a kind of pure Z receiver.
That second opposite guy is stretched the field, Vam Jefferson's on the team.
He's that type of guy as well.
Jaylin Lane certainly has deep speed, but I think also some slot versatility and quickness.
Things like that.
Luke McCaffrey really fits that power slot mold very, very well.
And if you look at adding car-nelled tape to the mix, he can play that Z receiver.
That's his primary position.
Terry's your primary X.
Car-nelled tape to primary Z.
Luke McCaffrey's your primary power slot.
Or maybe trailer Berks.
They go out there and battle it out.
Trailer Berks.
And look, you can end up with the third round pick and Terry McCorme who has far exceeded his draft position.
A first round pick and Car-nelled tape and a first round pick and trailer Berks on the field.
Alongside Tyden, like Chuget Conquo, a move Tyden who can do a lot of great things.
Pass catching back like Rashad White or Jerome Ford or Jeremy McNichols.
A one-cut slasher burst type of back.
Like Decorary Croskey Merit.
And a quarterback who's just dynamic and everything and Jay Daniels.
I mean, that sounds like a very, very good offense.
That sounds like an offense that can put up 27 points per game against most opponents.
And at the same time, that's kind of your call it base offense, right?
We won't really have that.
We'll call it a base offense.
But at the same time, now you have the pieces to where now you have a formation where you move Terry into the slot.
Car-nelled is your ex-receiver.
And Deami Brown is your zero receiver.
Now you've got that type of a look or you've got a look where Car-nelled is your ex.
And Traylin is in the slot.
And maybe Deami is that outsider receiver.
Give Terry McCorn a little bit of a breather so that when it's clutch time in the middle of the third quarter,
you're not totally gas from going out there and doing windsprints.
It's just it's one of those things that really kind of opens up things for the offense if that is the way that people go.
So Car-nelled tape, definitely impressing at the pro day.
I kind of went in there with him being one of my main players to watch.
We'll get into that here just a second.
And I also posted a thread of his routes on X as well as the Harrison 82.
So those are the three takeaways I have from the Ohio State pro day.
Now let's get into the list of players.
I was going in there to watch why I was going in there to watch them.
And then we get to my observations.
And Car-nelled tape joins the show here on a lot of documentaries.

I had a list of players that I wanted to keep an eye on.
We're going to hit these real quick and then we're going to get some my notes from the pro day as well as our interview with carnell take carnell
tape was the number one player that I came in there to look for because I kind of feel like he's he's probably the most slept on like of that group.
Of top Ohio State buck guys carnell tape is probably the least discussed one in the group.
So I really wanted to see what it was routes look like.
What it was hands look like.
What is the chemistry look like honestly just like looking at his teammates.
I got a video earlier in the day of him kind of hanging out with Davidson in the back of the end zone bouncing a ball like you know like a basketball and all that stuff.
And of course it brought back thoughts of Jaden Daniel.
So I you know kind of tweeted out a little tongue in cheek video of like maybe maybe he makes a lot of sense because of the basketball.
Thing which is you know there's a little bit of truth said in most jokes and and things like that.
I saw him talking with the Ohio State or the Ohio State watching commanders leadership that was on ground here as well.
And I think that his routes look very good not a body catcher is a hands catcher tracks the ball really well.
Move fluidly does all those things and again just you can tell a lot by the way a guy interacts with people on and off camera.
And he certainly seems to fit the mold of what the Washington commanders.
I have been looking like also wanted to come in and see sunny Lorenzo styles Lorenzo style is going over surgery or recovering from surgery.
So he was unable to participate sunny opting to not participate and just kind of letting his combine performance stand did talk to sunny.
Off camera a little bit after the workout he's doing well is enjoying the process things like that and is just looking forward to find out where he's going to start his NFL career.
Also Davis and I know some speaking of.
He's kind of mentioned is really the first time we've talked about him all off season because he is projected to be a second round corner back in the Washington.
As you probably know do not have a second round pick right now in the NFL draft up but he's a long press man corner.
Does a lot of good thing kind of reminds you a little bit of like a Noah Iggman Agni in some ways.
Which I know in some ways makes the flinch but in some way makes like oh okay I know Iggman Agni like let's do that.
So Davis and I know some another player I wanted to come in and look at our ball Reese of course the blue chip guy you know again.
Zero expectations that he was going to come in or come in the NFL draft potentially sitting at number seven but.
Wanted to just you got to want to go see the best guys on the feeling tight and max Claire he's someone who's under the radar weapon.
I'm going to see that addition of chicken concollo to the tight end room.
I don't know that I see the commanders adding a tight end but max Claire certainly one of the most intriguing tight ends for me entering the pro day at Ohio state.
So that sets the table now let's get to the news notes and observations starting with some general observations that I had about what the Washington commanders leadership group was doing there.
And then our conversation with Carnell takes we were on site in Columbus Ohio Ohio state university.
And then we're going to talk about the next NFL pro day a bunch of players out here to work out in front of 30 of the 32 NFL teams.
I can't tell you which two NFL teams weren't here.
But I can tell you wholeheartedly that the Washington commanders were present and were present in a very big way.
General manager Adam Peters assistant general manager Lance Newmark head coach Dan Quinn offensive coordinator David Blow defensive coordinator.
Durante Jones all present for the pro day workout got a chance to catch up with them just a little bit say hi nothing on the record.
No interviews no formal media sessions or anything like that.
But obviously can confirm they were here because I got to talk to them see them face to face and all those things didn't notice after the practice.
And of course it's not a little bit of a tweet during the during the event and said I'm sure nobody's going to take it too crazy.
But we know how the world is and people are going to take a little bit of everything to to a little bit of heart.
But the watchman's party the group the collective did stay after the practice or after the pro day session.
I should say for a good period of time.
And the first player we saw them catch up with was wider receiver car and elitate.
He was here with obviously friends and family, but also his agent Drew Rosenhausen kind of looked to me like you know Drew Rosenhausen's agent kind of took him over to the commanders collective there.
Talked with him a little bit also saw them on the side talking to our Val Reese the edge rusher who take right now after this workout.
We're going to go player by player, but after this workout.
I'm I'm pretty pretty certain that our release is probably going to go top three and not going to be in sniffing range for the Washington commanders.
Also some them talking to linebacker sunny styles as well who again there's a lot of kind of varying levels of degree where he might go.
I've seen seen as high as you know third overall, seen as low as the Washington commanders to be quite honest with you.
And I know there are some other teams like the Cincinnati Bengals, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, probably the Dallas Cowboys who would love to see the Washington commanders pass on sunny styles.
If they have the opportunity to did catch up with sunny styles after the pro day workout.
He was kind of making his rounds talking to a lot of the media, a lot of television doing a lot of things.
I just kind of got to catch up with him with Candy Waller, booey TV as the two of us were out here representing DC local media covering the event and talking to these guys.
And I just kind of shared with us that his pro day or his draft process has gone really well.
It feels really good about what he did felt really good about a scouting combined performance.
So he did not work out here in front of scouts, but he did talk to a lot of people, talked to a lot of teams.
I think Candy Waller got a photo of him and Caleb Downs during the pro day workout while he was still going on.
Their part was done by talking to head coach Dan Quinn.
So again, the commanders continuing to do their homework, continuing to be in and around everything they can be to try to collect as much information as possible.
But those two players, two brothers, Lorenzo styles junior and sunny styles not working out.
I did mention the sunny styles that we did in mock draft on locks on commanders recently where we were able to mock draft him and his brother Lorenzo to Washington.
Got a big ol smile on his face that he wouldn't hate that at all.
So as much as commanders fans, I know a lot of you really have sunny styles high on your board and high on your wish list for the Washington commanders.
I don't know about just the Washington commanders specifically, but he certainly would love the opportunity to play with his brother.
And if that's in Washington, he doesn't have any qualms about doing it for the Washington commanders.
Something that is interesting to note safety Caleb Downs.
I know a lot of commanders fans are very interested in what his status is going to be.
He spent a lot of time after the pro day talking with the New York Giants collective.
General manager Joe Shane was here.
Their assistant general manager was here. Coach Harbaugh was here.
And they spent a lot of time talking with Caleb Downs pretty much immediately after the practice or after the pro day and after he did some initial television and things like that.
So while a lot of mock drafts, including my own, have had the New York Giants taking sunny styles at that position.
Again, a lot of conversation doesn't necessarily mean anything is a slam dunk.
It's always careful. You always want to be careful to read too much into what you see at events like this.
But I can just tell you they had a long, long, long conversation with safety Caleb Downs.
So who knows it could could happen. Top 10 is really high for a safety.
Top 10 is really high for an off-ball linebacker, but there's two players at that position at each of those positions that could see themselves being top 10 draft picks this year.
It is Caleb Downs and sunny style.
So that's the initial takeaways here in Columbus, Ohio, to some of the things we saw from the staff, some of the things we saw that are commanders related.
But next up, we are going to dive deep into each player.
I'm going to tell you what I saw from them how they performed and how things went down here in Columbus, Ohio.

All right, so we're going to get to my notes here in just a minute, but we have been blessed to be joined by a car no tape wire seeker. I would say soon to be first round draft pick. So I want to congratulate you for all your success.
Thank you. Of course, for you get there, whether you come to Washington or not, but there is a contingency a pretty strong contingency of Washington fans who want to see you with the command.
We think about running in your NFL career with Ohio State Buckeye legend Terry McCormick potential.
It'll be a blessing for me to go out there. I'll play with a former Ohio State Buckeye Terry's done great things and watches and he's done great things for that program.
So it'll be all honor like I said to go in there and play for a Buckeye who lived my journey where I'm trying to be at next.
And ultimately he got my number so yeah, I was actually about to ask you that.
So I mean, if you go there like 17, like he's done a lot of good things and watching it was 17. So what do you think you're going to pivot to?
It won't hurt the ass. If he's able to, if he's willing to give it up, I'm thankful. I'll be forever at that.
So I don't know. I've really thought about another number at all you. So we're going to see from there.
Probably that bridge when you get there right across that bridge to get there.
The commander's having a new office coordinator David Blow. He's expected to do a little bit of a Ben Johnson type of thing needs.
Needs that receive that Z receiver to really stretch the field. But then Terry McCormick's a little bit.
You know, he's over 30 years old. So eventually need someone who can slide in to that number one spot and that X receiver.
So how do you feel about potentially starting off on that side of the transition?
Need to be that main guy in a couple of years.
I'm just thankful for the opportunity to go out there and play football whenever the ball comes all the way and you're going to make the best of my opportunity.
So yeah, it's all football that in the days you're going out there and make a catch in the ball.
Going to go to the person who's making a consistent catch is a consistent place.
And the commander's rolled deep in here for your guys's pro day today to see you and your teammates work out.
So you were able to talk to them a little bit. Can you share a little bit with that conversation?
Was like just them putting the face of a name ultimately once again, I met with the guy those guys at the combine.
And then that's excited for me to come up there.
And DC, very rapid passionate sports fan base. You know what that's like being a buck guy.
How would it feel to be in front of the burgundy and gold crowd after playing for the scarling, right?
I mean, I go to another home team, another town, another fan base. That means that that team means the most of them.
So yeah, I love I love the support of fan base. I love it.
All right. So that was a house day. Why was he recording out again?
Just had a little bit of time left here after the pro day. So he was gracious enough to bless us with some of that time.
Now time to get to some of my workout notes here, the Ohio State Bug guys.
Kind enough to hand us a little handy dandy pamphlet here.
Player by player, bios and everything else to go along with it.
We'll start off basically going alphabetical order here defensive end.
Caden Curry was a player that we came in. Not a day one prospect by any means.
But someone that the Washington Bears were definitely paying attention to saw Dan Quinn.
So Adam Peters watching part of his workout now.
Arville Reese also working out in that group. Something interesting.
Just for all the draft nerds out there who like doing your own mock dress and like talking about just football in general.
Arville Reese no linebacker drills here at the pro day only did edge drills.
So clearly his mind is focused on him starting his NFL career in that one position.
CJ Donaldson running back for the Ohio State Buckeyes definitely more of a power type back.
Think a little bit more of like the Buckeyes version of Chris Rodriguez Jr.
We know that Chris Rodriguez left and free agency to join the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Right now the Washington Bears have a stable of running backs.
Pretty full of third down type backs and things like that.
We know jacory crosskey merit that one cut burst type of running backs.
So if they go into the NFL draft looking for a little bit more power to replace Chris Rodriguez Jr.
Maybe audition for.
CJ Donaldson.
I think he moved a little bit quicker that maybe his reputation would give you or would suggest that he would.
And potentially someone to watch out for for adding to the running back room right there.
And obviously safety Caleb Downs is someone that a lot of you have a lot of passion for.
I've got a lot of passion for him too.
I think in a vacuum really great player.
The question with him is always kind of been is he another Nick Cross or can he bring a little bit of that dynamic past coverage as well.
I know there are a lot of people out there who are hard found or hard headed.
Stubborn not moving off the spot that he can absolutely do that.
We will do a deep dive into his table course as we go through this.
But just in these drills alone really came out here wanting to see Caleb Downs back pedal.
Want to see him flip this hips want to see him transition one direction to the next in his ball skills.
And I'll tell you right now he passed every single step very smooth very light on his feet.
Definitely looked a part of a safety that we already know just from his reputation in his production.
Ohio State that he can play in the box and come down hill can crash down kind of be that hybrid big nickel type of guy.
Definitely looked in his drills that he's got the feeds of the hips.
He got the fluidity to do it in coverage as well.
So Caleb Downs not not necessarily putting me in my place.
But definitely doing a good job putting putting some thought in there as well.
So I know a lot of you were taking pickery laps on that right now and kudos to you.
Kicker Jaden fielding J field.
Very interesting here because typically it'll come to a pro day.
Especially one littered with the kind of talent you have here at Ohio State really paying attention to the kicker.
But as you know, washmaker's kicker situation has not been solidified.
So there's certainly a potential out there really kind of looking for that 60 yard leg.
J feeling did really well made kicks as long as 57.
Unfortunately did give it to goes from 61 and missed both of them.
Both of them were short.
One of them was also off to the right.
So again, not going to not necessarily going to jump into the top of my list of players that I think needs to necessarily compete with Jake Moody.
In the Washington commanders locker room for for that spot.
But, you know, does have that 50 plus leg.
So certainly someone to keep an eye on.
Cornerback Davis and Eggman Oson is expected to be a day to pick second rounder.
Which we know the washmakers don't have a second round pick.
So unless he were to slide to the third round somehow some way, which I don't necessarily see happening.
That would be a little bit interesting.
I'll tell you it.
Buckeye fans and everything else.
Like kind of like their Noah Eggman Agony kind of good for a penalty here.
There he's long physical.
Looked a little bit choppy.
This change of direction drills here during his pro day.
But he has some really good smooth reps as well.
A little bit of a weird move.
We're almost like a deer kind of learning how to walk.
But obviously, Davis is not learning how to walk.
I think it's a little bit just kind of how long he is.
Which kind of stands out that way.
A little bit tight end will cast Merrick.
Honestly, I came here with Max Klein obviously on my mind.
We know one of the one of the top tie-downs I think in this draft class.
But will cast Merrick really come out here.
Came out here and looked really, really good.
Looked fluid with his feet.
Looked smooth with his catching.
Looked really good in his blocking.
They showed more power than Max Claire did.
Not that I'm surprised Max Claire again.
Not necessarily predicated on power per se.
But looked really good.
Max Claire didn't look bad necessarily just again.
Kind of looked like that smaller type of tie-down that you wouldn't necessarily want to rely on to be a blocker.
If you didn't have to defensive tackle Taiwan alone junior.
I mean, look, I don't know his official 40 time as we sit here right now.
But that big man was moving down that 40-yard track out of rate.
That people did not expect.
And also defensive lineman.
Kaden McDonald who may be a little rich for the Washington commanders blood when it comes to draft.
A capital screaming talent.
And I mean that literally very, very loud workout from Kaden McDonald.
Just all effort all the time.
Really quite honestly kind of reminds me of me when I'm in the gym.
I'm one of those guys who makes noise.
All those things.
Now trying to show off or show anybody up or don't like that.
Just kind of is what it is.
Arbel Reese did his thing.
Like I said, coming into this whole thing.
I think he was projected as a top three pick in the NFL draft.
Nothing from this workout.
I was going to take away from that.
I think he's solidified himself as one of those top players in the NFL draft this year.
Lorenzo Siles Jr.
Recovery from shoulder surgery wasn't able to work out sunny styles.
You're lying on his NFL scouting combine.
Performance did not work out either.
White or super card.
Elitator.
He's just heard from here on the show.
The full bevy of routes were in a really smooth look really sharp with his hands.
And if you go on Twitter, D Harrison 82 actually posted a thread of his routes.
I got all of them but two.
I didn't miss two of his routes.
So I apologize for you for that.
But I got all the rest of them in the thread there.
And there's actually one here in the deep left corner of the end zone where
fortunately I was able to have enough situational awareness to not get run over
by the future first round pick.
Unfortunately that, you know, he's probably got more on the line.
It's a solution to that collision than I do, but certainly don't want to be in the way of doing those things.
So those are our notes from the Ohio State Pro Day.
A lot of good stuff going on here.
Good to catch up with Dan Quinn and the staff.
Nine of Peters and those guys.
I just a little bit even if we didn't do it on the record.
Of course getting a car now.
It'll take come through for just a few minutes.
Bless us a little bit of his time because he did a lot of media.
Just like a lot of these guys did.
So really fortunate that he was able to stop by for us and say hi to you all.
And say hi to me before we get out of Columbus.
So that's going to do it for today's episode.
Next time on logs on commanders.
