The nationalist populist party, the alternative for Deutschland, the AFD, went astunning landslide victory over the weekend in the German state of Saxony and Holt,

3:09a quiet eastern region of about 2 million people. The AFD won with 44 percent of the vote more than double what they got just five years ago. Meanwhile, all the other mainstream establishment parties collapsed, most particularly the CDU, the Christian Democrats there. That was Angela Merkel's former party. They've run Saxony now for over 20 years. They imploded over the weekend. They lost more than half their support crashing from 37 percent down to now just around 17 percent. That's not a bad political, that's a political funeral. It's not just embarrassing, it's existential. I mean, this is the party that's governed Saxony and Holt for over two decades. The party that Germans in this region have voted for almost out of habit. In one night, more than half of that support just completely evaporated. Now, obviously, the legacy media is flipping out over this. Obviously,

4:12so. They're the ultra left guardian. They're calling this weekend a quote, dark day for Europe. It was a dark day. They're constantly harkening back to the Nazi era, even though AFD is basically a libertarian party when Holt said and done. But, oh, we haven't seen anything like this since the Nazis, the far right coming to power in Germany, oh, the inhumanity. That kind of propaganda, that attempt to tie the AFD to 1930s Germany, it's all part of what's known as the German firewall. In the firewall, I mean, technically speaking, it's an informal pact among Germany's mainstream establishment parties, the center right, CDU, the center left, social democrats, the leftist green party, didn't ever, ever, ever under any circumstances form a coalition government with the AFD. In fact, the German establishment, their political establishment with the backing of the bullies

5:18and Brussels and the EU, they've been trying to figure out how to ban the AFD to make them literally illegal, just like they tried to do a Trump here in the States when the Colorado Supreme Court tried to ban Trump from their state ballot. They're doing the same thing with Marine Le Pen in France. It's a tired old playbook and it's being increasingly used because all the establishments attempts at boxing the nationalist populace out of power simply ain't working, especially for the firewall in Germany. The firewall was supposed to freeze the AFD out of power long enough that eventually the party would just wither on the vine. Its voters would realize they're never going to get anything done by voting for this party. It's a wasted vote so they would eventually abandon the party altogether. As you can see, that is emphatically not happening. The AFD they have only gotten more and more and more popular since entering the Bundesstog first entering

6:21back in 2017. Bundesstog is the German parliament and now they're just, they've just won their very first state. Member Germany has 16 federal states and the AFD is by far the single most popular party in all of the former East Germany states like Saxony and Brandenburg and Turinja and they're fast becoming the most popular party for the nation as a whole. There was actually a shock poll that just came out a few weeks back showing the AFD topping a Berlin state election poll as the single most popular party in the state. Now why that poll was so shocking was because Berlin again we're talking the state of Berlin has been governed by leftist parties almost continuously since 2001. It's one of the most liberal regions in Germany and yet Germany's own version of the mega party is at work is topping all other parties in that poll and it mirrors what's happening nationally for Germany.

7:27Virtually every single national poll has been consistently showing the AFD as the number one party in the country. The most recent showing that the AFD is now leading the center right CDU by a whopping 10 point margin. Again this was unimaginable just months ago and now the AFD is one their first state which means that they now have real power right power over education power over culture power over policing that means curriculum decisions in schools decisions about how police departments operate decisions about what gets funded and what doesn't this isn't symbolic anymore this isn't a threat to the establishment anymore this is an absolute challenge this is the machinery of an actual state government falling into AFD hands now the one snag is that they did not get an out and out majority and so they're going to have to enter into a coalition government

14:35the party ran hard on tougher deportation policy ending in centers for migration all together they wanted to restore sense of national pride they want to get rid of what's called the rainbow agenda in their public schools say they wanted to replace pride flags with the German national flag on public buildings and the like in an eastern state where many voters feel like the west has just more or less abandoned them ever since their reunification where weight their wages are lower opportunities are fewer than in western Germany that message the AFD's message lands hard and it's not framed by AFD voters as resentment or hatred or xenophobia or anything like that it's framed as a real demand to be heard after decades feeling like their values interests and concerns have been completely ignored by all mainstream parties and burlin within minutes of the

15:38announcement of the victory Elon Musk tweeted out good chemo well done you may remember he's been openly cheering for the AFD since last year's federal election when the party finished second nationally he's spoken at AFD rallies he's amplified their messaging to hundreds of millions of followers and he's made no secret of his belief that Germany needs a political shakeup he likes to say only the AFD can save Germany and as it turns out Europe Germany is the economic engine of the entire European Union it's the largest economy on the continent the industrial and financial anchor that holds the whole EU project together so when a nationalist anti-immigration party gets this close to real governing power it doesn't just change Germany's internal politics it sends shockwaves through Brussels it's in shockwaves through NATO planning rooms because the AFD doesn't

16:42want to give money to Ukraine it's in shockwaves through every capital in Europe whose political elites had been nervously watching the firewall against the so-called far right slowly crack apart over the last several years and now with both Trump and Musk publicly cheering on the AFD from across the Atlantic the message from Washington could not be any clearer this isn't just a domestic German story anymore this is a story about the future direction of western politics as a whole it's not just about making America great again it's about making Europe great again making the west great again and as such this is about far more than just a political party or just one nation politically this will serve only to embolden the whole of the populist right all throughout the continent accelerating a broader nationalist shift that undermines EU cohesion and the manufactured
