1:01The ultra-left wing LA mayor Karen Bass is once again finding herself in very serious hot water. Since 2021, the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority, known as LASA, has received more than $1 billion in federal funding. That hour money, including a jaw dropping $220 million in 2024 alone, Biden's last year in office, mayor Karen Bass personally sits on the organization's 10 member board appointing half of its members herself. She's literally at the table. And so she is the one that federal investigators are increasingly focusing their sites on. It all began when a federal judge commissioned an independent audit of roughly $2.5 billion in LA Homelessness Spending, which found documentation so poor and accounting so fragmented

2:02that auditors couldn't reliably trace where the money went. That triggered a state audit, finding that California spent nearly $24 billion over five years without consistently tracking outcomes. Again, another way of saying they don't know where the money went. HUD then launched its own probe, suspending LASA's funding in June after finding a clear pattern of fraud, including $69 million in overdue provider payments. Currently, federal and county prosecutors built individual fraud cases, most notably against nonprofit director Alexander Sufer, who charged, he's charged with diverting $23 million into a Westwood mansion, a Greek vacation home, 125 grand range rover, and luxury travel while feeding homeless clients instant ramen.

3:07I mean, you literally cannot make this stuff up. Congress's own review of LASA contracts also uncovered a number of examples of self-dealing, including a deal benefiting the former CEO's husband. Together, these overlapping court-ordered audits, HUD's investigation, and criminal probes are what exposed the money as unaccounted for, prompting an upcoming congressional hearing to try to get to the bottom of the schedule for next week. At the center of it all, of course, is Mayor Karen Bass, Congressman Tim Burchette, a Tennessee Republican who chairs the House subcommittee on delivering on government efficiency, sent Bass a four-page letter demanding that she testified a hearing titled, I love this. You're going to love it. Fixing fraud and failure in federally funded homelessness services. It's scheduled for September 15th, and Burchette's letter did not pull any punches, stated

4:07plainly, that because LA officials have not adequately protected federal taxpayer dollars, it appears that many nonprofits to which those funds have been allocated are not using them for their intended purposes. He's also demanding nearly seven years of documents, correspondence between the Mayor's office, the City Council, and county supervisors regarding LASAs management all due by September 14th, the day before BASAs supposed to show up. Guess what happened? Bass said, no. Bass said, no, I'm not doing it. Her attorney sent a letter back to Burchette saying, and effect she's not available. That's her response to a congressional demand to account for a billion dollars of loss taxpayer funds. I'm not available. Now, technically, this particular letter was not a binding subcimidies, absolutely, do have the authority to compel testimony through if they could send a binding subcimidies

5:11subcimidies. If they want to, and failing to comply with an actual subcimidies could lead to contempt of congress proceedings. But think about the optics here for a second. If you've got nothing to hide, right, and you admit, billions have been lost, well, then you show up, you answer the questions, you figure out what went wrong and you go home. When the person overseeing a billion dollar taxpayer program suddenly becomes unavailable, the moment congress starts asking real questions about where those billions are going, that tells you everything you need to know. And the other thing that tells us everything we need to know is what Karen Bass just did as of today. Some are saying that she is deliberately trying to cover up her tracks. As of today, Mayor Karen Bass is stepping down from Lassa's governing commission just at the very same time. Congressional scrutiny of the agency intensifies. Remember, she was on the board. She was ahead of the board. She appointed half the board members herself. She was sitting at the table of the very government agency that lost billions of tax period dollars. And now her office is confirmed that she's stepping down, saying she will point a replacement, but she has a name too. As it turns out, she couldn't even run the board competently. She skipped 13 of 21 Lassa commission meetings over a recent 12 month period, far exceeding

9:18the four absence threshold that can trigger removal under the agency's own bylaws. So again, she's a rules for the not for me kind of player or three year term technically expired June 30th. She remained on the board until just today. But the key here obviously is that Bass now appears to be distancing herself in the very agency that lost billions of taxpayer dollars to these homeless funding schemes in complete lack of oversight. And that in the end really is the story here. How humanitarian organizations have become fronts for the personal enrichment of leftist politicians and bureaucrats USAID's decade long, a pre-ovestant bribery scheme. So a contracting officer, funneled $550 million in contracts in exchange for bribes disguised as country club weddings, NBA tickets, and mortgage down payments.

10:21Investigators later found USAID funded initiatives touching George Soros' open society foundations and the Rockefeller Foundation, an institution led by a former Obama era USAID administrator who staff donated exclusively to progressive political campaigns. Minnesota, of course, was home to what federal prosecutors called the largest fraud-scanolin history and estimated $9 billion stolen from high-risk Medicaid programs since 2018 out of roughly $18 billion allocated, feeding our future alone. Claim to serve 91 million meals to children during COVID and stolen nearly $250 million spending on luxury cars and mansions and overseas real estate. Upwards of 100 people have been charged and convicted and the fraud spread further. Autism therapy providers falsely certified children with autism to bill 46.6 million while housing stability programs, salt providers building Medicaid for services never rendered.

11:26And we just keep going on and on. The common thread here is that humanitarian branding helping the homeless, advance and global health, empowering marginalized communities, provides political insulation and public sympathy that shields insiders from scrutiny long enough to self-deal. Week contract oversight, board appointments stack with political allies, NGOs functioning as extensions of ideological networks rather than independent charities. All of that lets taxpayer and donor money quietly become personal enrichment vehicles for people who talk about compassion and public while writing themselves checks in private. So where does this leave Karen Bass? Well she is on record insisting that the accountability problems predate her administration and that she's already restructuring a broken system she inherited.

12:26The Congress wants to know if these problems were already this serious why did it take federal auditors, HUD investigators and criminal prosecutors to drag every one of these scandals into the light before any real accountability accelerated. Whether or not Bass eventually gets compelled to testify under an actual subpoena, one thing is already undeniable. For a billion federal dollars flowed through an agency that HUD itself said exhibited a clear pattern of fraud. California burned through $24 billion statewide without being able to prove any of it worked and the human toll of that failure is still sitting on Skid Row while grifters by mansions in Westwood and vacation homes in Greece. That's not compassion. That's a taxpayer-funded racket dressed up in the language of caring about the homeless. And it took a Republican-led house subcommittee to finally start pulling back the curtain.
