Have you ever wondered what it means to walk by faith with God? Welcome to His light, your path. Pastor Rodholler Senior brings us a powerful devotional titled, Faith, the Essence of Life. In this devotional Pastor Hollow will explore what it means to live by faith in our everyday lives. And now here's Pastor Hollower. Colossians chapter 2, verse 6. As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in Him. This text verse addresses two aspects of life and faith. The first aspect of life and faith is salvation. Note again, as ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord. Paul is provoking these believers of Colossi. To remember how they were saved, they were saved by faith in the work of redemption done
by Jesus. Ephesians 289, 4 by grace, are ye saved through faith and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God, not of works, lest any man should boast. These verses are very clear. No person is saved by works, but rather by faith in the work of Jesus to pay the sin debt of every man. When Nicodemus came to Jesus in the night, Jesus told him how to have everlasting life. This man was a religious leader, yet he sought Jesus for salvation. Jesus told him how to have eternal life. John chapter 3 verse 16, 4 God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Jesus told Nicodemus that salvation was by faith or belief in the redemption made possible by Jesus shed blood, death, burial and resurrection. Certainly Jesus told Nicodemus how to go to heaven. That is why Jesus came to this earth. So it is that we have received Jesus for salvation by faith alone apart from any works. So the second aspect of life and faith is the daily living of a believer. Once a believer is saved by faith, then he is to live by faith. That is the essence of the verse. Let us read again our text verse Colossians 2.6, as he therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him. This is received by faith for salvation and believers are to live daily by faith.
And think about the name for Christians. They are called believers. Well, they are called believers, therefore they ought to believe. They trust God for the saving of their soul for all eternity, but when it comes to the daily living in the ugly here and now, they doubt God. There is something terribly wrong with that thinking. Consider God can save my soul for eternity, but he can't see me through today. The context of our key verse for today is a challenge by Paul to believers that they are to live daily by faith. We are saved by faith and as believers, we are to live daily by faith. How about you? Have you trusted in Jesus for your eternal salvation? It is the most important decision that you will ever make. Can you think of anything more important than where you will spend eternity?
After you have trusted Jesus as your Savior, then you are to live daily by faith. As He has therefor received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in Him. That concludes today's devotional faith, the essence of life from Pastor Holler. He reminded us that faith is not only how we are saved, it's how we are called to walk every day.
