I survived nine months in captivity, and I've spent my life exploring how other people survive what should have destroyed them. I'm Elizabeth Smart, and these are the survivor files. Every week, I'm with survivors who live through the unthinkable, abducted, stalked, controlled, and nearly silenced. These are stories about what it takes to make it out alive. Listen to the survivor files with the Elizabeth Smart on the I Heart Radio app Apple Podcast or wherever you get your podcasts. Hi, this is Kylie Breakman, Angel Jaretana, Jeremy Cole, Hane Cash, McDonald, and we're the hosts of the artists on artists on artists on artists podcast. Does the Pope dress up? He winks on Halloween. He gets right up next to the microphone. You get up high here, you get the elbows here, the eyelashes hate each other. They never seem italy so quiet as when the Pope gets up to wink on Halloween.

Big Game on 700 WLW, home of the best Bengals coverage. Yes it is and here to discuss football friends. Yeah. It's Eddie Rocky out today with my good friend, Moe Wager. This is the one day you're going to work with you. Yeah, we tend to have one day and we always have fun. Yes. And I would just tell him, I'm like, once you get Moe and they're like, who? You and Moe working together. And I was like, what are you doing all the time? One day a year. It's always the Friday of the opener. And so I look forward to this day. It's great to like get a partner for a day. Usually it's me on my own. Me too. With that in mind, let's do our usual Friday stuff and talk to our good friend, Richard
Skinner Skinny. How are we doing? I'm good. How are you guys doing? Good buddy. First off, let's talk about the elephant in the room. It's 9-11, the 25th, whatever. And of course, remember, it's in our hearts. Never forget. Yes. And let's try to forget about it for a couple of hours and talk about some football. All right. How about that? Amen. And here we have Richard Skinner and Skinny. Well, the big football is actually in full swing now. High school football. What? Third week now? Something like that? Fourth quarter. Wow. College football, obviously well underway, big game tomorrow, Ohio State and Texas. But the big game here in town, of course, is Sunday. Bangles V. The Baker Mayfield Buccaneers. And I say that now because apparently, has it a money to buy him if he wants. Baker Mayfield has been a bangle killer in his career. He was six and kids.
He's a stoner and cleaver. He's got great success against the bangle. It's a super interesting game because of all the question marks that you hope were answered by the offseason acquisitions the bangle's made. I think the biggest question mark though is how much will they use the under center offense, how effective will Joe Barrow be in that offense and or how quickly may they have to scrap that offense? And he's not very comfortable in it. First of all, Skinny, best news of the week for me was the Skinny podcast is back. That made my week. So seriously awesome to have you and Rick back in my life, you and Rick Burring. I'm glad our guy Paul Dander Jr. brought you in because I've missed it. You mentioned the under center stuff. That's been one of the themes of the offseason operating under center more explosive plays. This has been an offseason filled with optimism. The preseason, we saw all the depth play out, even Barrow Carter and Demetrius Knight had decent training camps where we didn't talk about their foibles for weeks on end. But there is a reason for skepticism with this team. What is it? Honestly, I got to go to the offensive line.
I mean Orlando Brown, I know it's just one rep in that Detroit game where he just looked awful, but he's also now into his 30s. He had kind of an up and down year last year. We didn't see 17 games worth of belt and riser. We saw some poor play from him earlier that he kind of settled in, but I still wonder how that's going to work out. I know by the way, you got to block the massive Vita Vaya and Rubin Bane Jr. The rookie apparently looked the part through their training camp in the preseason and the short arms really didn't come into play like he's a dude. I mean, that's a pretty good test for that offensive line right off the bat. So going into the season, guys, let's face it, I think the hopes are higher than they were in the Super Bowl year. Am I wrong? Going into the season? Going into the season, yeah. Yeah, I think even higher than they've been coming out of that Super Bowl year when that 12 and 14 and 2022, when the AC championship came. I think they are higher now because you did see the front office try it's darn it to address all the needs. They couldn't probably hit all of them, but they got to a big chunk of them and they did
a very unbeg a light thing in the trade for Dexter Wars. And I think that couple with the fact they got through camp pretty healthy, I mean, really healthy to be honest with you, that you're not worrying about a Joe Burrow injury coming out of camp or a malady or an appendectomy. You know, there's a lot of reasons for that optimism. What was it like from your perspective following the Bengals and not having a trade request, a contract issue, a due grandstanding for a new deal, a player threatening to hold out, a player holding in or any of that stuff? No, right. I mean, I, yeah, those have covered camps and they kept looking over in the corner. She was able to have a bucket hat standing there. That's what we think. We couldn't use it. It was some guy angry standing in a bucket hat. No, I thought, I think that's a positive, too, that it was a very quiet camp. I went to an event last night, Paul had a Paul Deener had a podcast. I mean, I was talking to Charlie Clipper. He said, you all of a sudden go off the beat and all the troubles go last. And yeah, maybe it was me. Maybe I was the guy who was causing all the roughs. I don't know, but it was a awfully smooth camp. Well, yesterday at this time, we talked to Jason Williams from the inquire and he and
several of the other writers put together a big article in Dexter Lawrence. Now, Mo, you were down there basically for all of training camps and watching him. And I'm sure skinny, you were in and out of there. What does this guy look like? We're here a lot, but what does he look like on the field? Well, to me, skinny, he's massive. He's what you would expect to high end defensive tackle to look like, but he's extraordinarily quick twitch. He's athletic. I felt bad for Ted carous every single day. Ted is a good, has a very good career, good offensive lineman, good center. And every day they were, they were putting one blocker on Dexter Lawrence and Dexter was abusing him. And I'm thinking like Ted is not this bad. Dexter is making him look as bad as he looks. He was as disruptive as you would expect. He was constantly in the backfield. He was chasing down Joe Burrow or Joe Flacco, who was ever out there. But to me, the thing that stood out more than anything else is you simply cannot block him one-on-one. No, in fact, I still remember when he got traded for him, when I talked out, but we talked
out for him the one day, he simply said, you have to put four hands on him. You have to, which means he, you always have to double team him and the things that those can do to trickle down effect that I asked for the rest of the defense. So the play of camp to me was actually made by Dexter Lawrence intercepted a pass. Yes. You talk about an athlete that size to tip it and then go high, pulling it like a receiver. I mean, he looked extremely nimble doing that. Most defensive tackles, as they bat that ball, they're just going to look like, I'm not going to catch that thing. As much as I love Gina Lackington's player, I think Gina could have caught that thing to be honest with you. But I mean, that was the play of camp in my opinion. He kept that thing and goes and catches it. Yeah, I just think the trickled down effect of what he's going to do for this defense is massive. Do you think Landon Robinson can contribute in a meaningful way because you talk about being unblockable and at times against guys who are not currently in the NFL. The Landon Robinson thing very quickly went from fun story, interesting guy because he went to Navy and his dad was a Bengals fan to a guy who looked like he can be a dude. Yeah, I just think he's more depth than anything else. I mean, how many tackles are you going to keep up on on game day, right?
You know, right now, I would think it would be five. It would be Jonathan Allen, BJ Hill, Dexter Lawrence, TJ Slate and Chris Jenkins. Maybe not. Maybe Chris is the odd guy now. But I do think Landon is an interesting piece. I mean, you're right. He went from all this is a QC story, Naval Academy guy. It looks like a block of granite to, whoa, this guy can really play. I just, I think it's great to see. I mean, he may be an active on game day, but I think he can actually be a player in this way. That's how much depth they have at that position at the moment. All right. We're talking to Richard Skinner and Skinny. Let's talk about, I think a lot of excitement to around the running back room. Now, again, that's something you guys both saw during training camp. What do you expect? Well, Chase Brown. Go ahead. Good. I thought I predicted this last year and I was long, but I'm predicting him this year. I think he sets the single season team record for Yarsham Scrimmage. Yeah. James Brooks currently has the record. I think if they get in the touches, they got him over the last seven or eight games of last year that he can average 100 to 110 Yarsham Scrimmage per day, which gets you almost a 2000 Yard.
I think he has that kind of capability, Moe. Would be poetic. James Brooks goes into the ring of honor this year. 1773 Yards. Chase Brown was 317 Yards shy of it. I mean, if you do it in a very simple way, that's what, 18, 19 Yards more. He's a three down back, right? He's proven himself as a pass receiver. He's gotten so much better in pass protection. He got off to such a slow start last year and the numbers still look great. Plus them running him, running the offense with Joe Burrow under center. If it happens to the degree that they have talked about it, I think Chase Brown is in for a massive season. I think you're right. I think 1773, which is stood for 40 years is very much in range. Yeah. And let's, you know, last year they played from behind so much that they end up having to throw the ball. I think their hope this year is you're getting into some poor mid-offensive mode too. That gets them a handful more carries and some more Yards. So I think it's very, very doable. All right. Well, I know it's football frenzy guys, but what do we talk about?
Let's do a little post mortem on your Cincinnati Reds post mortem with 16 games. 16 games to go. How are we feeling about the rest of the year, guys? I mean, again, they go to LA and get scumped and now they're going to Milwaukee who doesn't need to kill them, but they usually do. So we're looking at a long road to ho here for the next 16 games. Well, I'm glad these guys back, back the back because I'll watch LA, the other crew's bad. I'll watch South Stewart bat and I realize I don't have to watch anybody else back until they come back. They're still very fun to watch, but where the rest of that lineup is just putrid. The bottom of the batting order on Wednesday might be the worst for some six through nine in the history of the franchise. I mean that might be the worst in the history of the franchise. You might have had some better hitting pitchers back. I Tom Sever would have that hit the mat lineup for good. That's how I don't think that line of luck. It's it's so disappointing for so many reasons. But you talking about the rest of the way, their tragic number for elimination is six.
So by Monday, they may be officially eliminated from postseason contention with 13 games to go. They've gotten a rookie of the year season from South Stewart. Ellie DeLacruz is having a terrific year. The last three weeks, he's been unreal. Chase Burns has been awesome to waste those three seasons in a year that was going to be solely defined by do you make the postseason and matter once you're there for them to have an outside chance. They're not going to be favored in a baseball game. The rest of the season, there's an outside chance. They lose 90 for that to be the case after what we thought last year was a step, you know, step in the right direction. They're going to win. True contention. It's an unmitigated disappointment. A mutual friend of ours mode does a daily bet where he takes the red team total under anything doing quite well with that bet. We've talked about this. Yes. To close out guys, can we all agree that let's not do any more football games from Australia with that, whatever it was, 830 in the morning kickoff time, the Rams looked like they weren't
there. The Niners walked all over them. Yeah, I will say this much. I will almost guarantee you that whatever two teams go there next year or the year after that, one of the teams will not show up the day before. I mean, what a, what a just a crazy move to the Chameleon Bay day because they look like a team that just showed up the day before. I don't love taking what should be a great regular season game and making it not one. I agree. So you want to play games in Australia, fine, but San Francisco LA, those are two teams at 112 games last season. Those are rivals. I want to see those two teams at their best. I don't think any divisional game to be honest with you should be played overseas or internationally. Those are important games and you should have on field advantage when it's your home game. So yeah, I wish they wouldn't do that. I think you want to do it. Not inside your division. That's fine. Any, any, any divisional game that should be a home at home. All right. Well, that's skinny. We'll let you go, buddy. Take care. I got friend Richard Skinner. It's me and Mo Wigger in for, well, Mo is in for Rocky. I'm still Eddie and we have traffic and whether what is going on.

Yep. He flew down to baton Rouge this morning. So he's at the heart of college football right now. So knowing what I know about Rocky and knowing what I know about LSU head coach Lane Kiffin, those two guys are like the antithesis of each other. Yeah. Right? Well, Rocky was thinking he wants to go down there because he likes to stir the pot and stir it. Yeah. So but like Rocky wants college football to be like it was in 1952. Oh, of course. Yeah. I know what you're saying. Exactly. Lane Kiffin done feel that way at all. So I'm curious when they do the production meeting, Rocky and Lane, what that's what that's like. Why I don't know that they've met yet. Okay. But I think they did a phone call maybe. Okay. So but nonetheless, he will weigh in the boy man will be weighing in from baton Rouge

Back on the Indian Rocky show rock out today Moe Eger in for Rocky and Moe of course it is 9 11 and 25 years. I remember where I was and I think you were right down the hall from me if I'm not mistaken. I was in the 700 WLW control room. We were coming down the home stretch of Jim Scott show that morning. And I remember looking up we had a television like right above our head in the old studio and I looked up and I just I saw the world trade center on fire. The hotline then rang and it was Bill cutting him telling me hey the world trade center is on fire and right as I could comprehend you know that Willie was calling me I looked
behind me and Brian Holmes was running into our old news booth which was right behind us to break in and tell us what was going on. I remember that day extraordinarily vividly from you know the 840 in the morning all the way till at night and when I was thinking about this this morning you know that was ended up being a long work day for us as part of the morning show. Go home at like 11 o'clock at night and like that entire time you're in work mode and I remember going home and it kind of like the enormity of it hit me. And every year when I watched the memorial services this morning was so touching so moving I'm taken back to that exact emotion I had 25 years ago tonight. Yeah I like I per people who don't know Moe work with Jim Scott for how many years do you work with five and a half yeah yeah and I was doing the morning show at the end and we were basically right now we were on two halves of the building that basically straight down the hallway for each other divided by the receptionist desk. Exactly and I just remember walking through the whole building and nobody was saying a
word and everybody was glued to a TV if they could find one. Yeah I remember everybody was like you know we didn't have TVs all over the place. Right. So like one of the few televisions was in our control room and everybody was in there which you know when you're trying to run a show isn't the most ideal and I remember the second plane hit yeah and everybody just had this same visceral reaction and you know then it was like oh boy we got something different here and I again I just the I thought often today about the sadness that we all felt and I thought often about how in the days after it we kind of stopped fighting about petty stuff. We all kind of got along for a while and how much I wish we would do that again. Yeah that's what if there was anything that good that came out of that it was like you're saying that after glow or whatever you want to call it of the I don't know if it lasted a month six months did it last a year I don't remember. See I'm like everybody was at each other's throats again not too long after it but that whatever that was that month long period man everybody could not help each other support
each other enough. You would just I remember in Mount Adams with the station was we that UDF across the street and the next morning getting a cup of coffee in your eyes would just meet somebody like meet somebody else's and you could just tell you were both thinking the same thing and it was just this sense of like we're all kind of in this together. I would love it if we can go back to that without obviously the tragic loss of life but I watched was on the today show today and then I watched good morning America where they had Derek Jeter talking about the 2000 moral 2001 World Series and the whole of baseball in in New York's comeback and it just it every year brings back so many emotions and it's I think so many of us are in the same boat we can remember very crisply that entire day and a quarter of a century has passed which is remarkable. Yeah, that's it is amazing to you and that's trying to explain to my kids you know my oldest kid was two years old and as I told you Luke his birthday is two weeks from now and so obviously he knows nothing about it and to explain to them they're like how did how does
in after 25 years why is it we can you viscerally be you know you I can see the look in your eyes you go back to that day. Yeah, I was like you have never you haven't had anything happen in your life yet that big to this country. It was like I told Rocky yesterday I went my mom was a God rest or so was still alive then and talking her about it on the phone and I was like I forget how it was couch tour. Yeah, but she goes well now you know how we felt on Pearl Harbor because it feels the same way. You know there are two events one when I was a little kid and then the other being 9 11 that you watched in real time happen on television which is why I think it effect is effects is so much that we watch and happen in real time. It wasn't just something you heard about and then you ran to your TV like so many of us saw the towers fall we saw all the news reports but when the challenger exploded I was in the third grade and to this day 40 years ago to this day I remember sitting in misblocks
class and her turning off the television and going home in that at night and having my mom explain to me what happened and it's a little kid the sadness that I felt and then 9 11 I think what makes it hit home for so many of us is you know Pearl Harbor in 1941 we didn't watch on television. Obviously there is very grainy news footage of you and you saw it days later. Yes, but 9 11 11 so much of that we saw unfold in real time and you those things stick with you like when when when you see footage of the towers falling I am taken back to that day and the exact just intense emotion I felt intense sadness and I don't know how anybody who watched that in real time doesn't feel the exact same way and so I've explained it to my daughter like I watched that happen and I know what it was like to watch that happen I know how I felt and so I can still feel that same way 25 years later when I see the footage of that when I hear people talking about their stories it's it's I can't believe it's been 25 years.

who day who wants tickets you can still get tickets well you can get them on stupor uh stupor visit seats they're loaded up with tickets you know a lot of season ticket holders put their seats up for grabs and uh i wonder what it's gonna cost you go to the game let's save for this sundays opener you know we're all excited to see them play a Tampa Bay right and uh you're gonna start you're gonna start at about 150 for the nosebleeds so they're in demand for that top top deck of pay course to pay to him to be 150 that's pretty expensive don't you think big time pretty hefty now if i wait till let's say two hours before kickoff to pull the trigger does that price go down it does go down and that happens with concerts too uh you keep watching you keep getting back and usually it's actually like the morning of the game the prices start dropping and uh they'll drop fast yeah the games at one o'clock you know check about nine ten
eleven and suddenly you're one hundred or fifty dollar tickets are like seventy five dollar tickets so that's a great way to do it further down uh two fifty three hundred you know we're not in the playoffs yet so you know even a good seat is gonna run about about two fifty two seventy five that's not horrible for the NFL that's actually better than a lot of other teams that isn't too bad well you know that thing you guys are talking about of waiting i had a buddy did that for the Taylor Swift show with his they wanted his daughter was begging him blah blah blah blah blah blah so he went down to three three three seat and sat in the office and they said um if um we haven't sold these seats by six o'clock we'll sell them to you and he thought and they were field passes they were field tickets he thought he got a steal and he spent eight hundred dollars for the two tickets oh well yes oh yeah he was he thought he was he was over the moon because he spent eight four
hundred bucks on ticket that's crazy yeah four hundred bucks to ticket was uh achieved the other recent one was Noah Khan you know he played at uh the stadium downtown uh great american what about a month or two ago and i was trying to get tickets for that and right up until the day of the show they were about four hundred dollars to ticket on resale so tickets are expensive to just about everything right now now if you want some cheaper bangles tickets uh one thing is to do is to go to the less popular games i think they're hosting the saint in december gonna be cold it's the saint it's like you know now if the bangles are on a good playoff run as those those tickets will be expensive but normally the price in right now if you look the ticket prices for those are about the lowest the season for a home game since this December and you're talking a team that's not in the division you want some expensive tickets try uh Kansas City coming to town or Pittsburgh coming to town because you know those dealers fans you know they snap up all the extra seats yeah and that she's
gained by the way you mentioned Taylor Swift that's on Tay Tay's birthday with Taylor's husband and town so yeah the Swifties yeah he may be there if Tay Tay's birthday and she's gonna be here for and you can probably see her in the box watching the game i think that's worth a thousand dollars for tickets don't you uh for you not for me here's what i want to know all the all the tickets these days they're all digital mobile they're on your phone right so has that yeah has that decreased the the likelihood that if if you buy tickets on the secondary market you get scanned it has but it's kept the prices higher in other words people are no longer standing on the street corner in the trench with the sign saying who needs tickets you know i see that scary guy down there by this stadium as you're pulling up and he's he's got the big coat on i need you know i need tickets it means he's selling tickets but he can't advertise that right but i always say i need tickets uh he'd go to make hey bro you know what what do you sell you know just yeah i got some you know tense row
whatever and you and you're dicker back and forth you give him cash and this one on forever that way and you could get a good especially closer to game time closer to kickoff i mean you could get bangles tickets for twenty five bucks that way uh of course some people got scammed because they were fake tickets right you know they were or they were duplicate tickets and somebody else was already in the stadium with the real tickets there were a lot of scams then with the street tickets and the cash but you had much lower prices because the prices really dropped now it's all online you got to have it on your phone so it's legit there's less ripoff but those prices stay high for longer all right we're talking to john madderies and john switch and gears here but talking about the game um i'm not going to the game i'm going to be firing up my grill making a few boigies having the uh having my boys over and uh uh where's my beef going to be from i guess is what i'm driving at here yeah i think the people are wondering now because the government just just
loosened up the rules on imported beef imported beef is going to be allowed in tariff free and it's attempt to get the price down and i'm all for low prices saving money because you know the ground beef is seven dollars a pound six eighty nine is the official average those expensive so what's happened is the president is that okay we're going to allow imported beef in no tariff on it that's going to add to the market it's going to lower the prices what's not to love well it was out to talk to some shoppers this week and they're like i yeah yeah yeah yeah i don't know that i'm up for that imported beef because they say we're it's a coming from it i said well argentine is one of the countries brazil is one of the countries possibly mexico and people are like turning white see i don't want to get that stuff because i don't know what they were feeding those cows so you can see we all want lower prices but you're not sure that you want to eat beef from mexico one thing to look for though if you ain't ground beef fresh up for that cookout Eddie look for a made in the USA label
because a lot of the beef now from texas in montana and ayahuah now has a made in the USA label wanted to tell you that and it's the funniest thing if it's imported they don't have to tell you where it's from now if you put that beef for your cookout on a paper plate they got to tell you that the paper plate was made in china that's a federal rule has to say where it's made but they don't have to tell you where the beef was made does that make sense how much that's that make well they probably don't know yeah yeah yeah it's from not here yeah look for the made in the USA label and that should that should help tell you that it's uh you know made in the USA it comes from texas or something and if you find that beef then you need to invite me over for that cookout and to watch the bangles on your 85 inch texas is it just ground beef other other types of beef that are being imported in one yeah yeah right now it's ground it's primarily ground beef but
you know it actually gets labs of beef coming in see a some of it's going to be some of it's not going to be ground beef it's going to be actual cuts of steak so you know if it's cheap race and questions look around ask around say hey you know this this filet is only seven dollars a pound rib eyes five dollars a pound and I got stuff they sell to parking lots remember that oh parking lot steak it's like get 42 rib eyes for ten bucks it's like why you know I if the price is really low like that I'd be real careful when I'm buying well I tell you what my wife just did she done on last few years the peach truck your wife's ever hit up the peach truck no yeah it's it comes to town like once a year and like August when the peach harvest from Georgia's made and I'll tell you I never eat peaches now I've had more peaches I'm good until next year because she got peach come she got peach pie yeah yeah oh well yeah what you have from breakfast how about some yogurt and some peaches okay yeah that's good fresh peaches so you know that's a
good idea and apple trucks a great idea I don't know about that beef truck sitting in the uh you know abandoned shopping center parking lot with those two dollar rib eyes I just know that I want to buy that hey guys have a good weekend who day and don't waste your money all right Johnny thanks buddy all right uh with that mo coming up here hmm we're supposed to be talking to the big guy to Rocky Boyman live from LSU the heart of everything college football this weekend but now it's the news news radio 700 WLW news installed by AE Dorendo we sell the best and service the rest news traffic and weather news radio 700 WLW Cincinnati Bengals fans in for something new this Sunday this is the four o'clock report I'm Matt Reese first game of the season Sunday at pay core stadium Bengals and the Bucket ears not only does the team look better on paper with their star quarter

big day on 700 W.W. home of the best Bengals coverage. Yes it is and here to help me along on Friday because rocks out of town Moeiger is joining me in for rock today but rock could not stay away. Moe he is at the heart of it all and I don't mean Ohio. I'm talking about LSU he's coming live from that tall Rouge right now with his Cajun accent. What do you got there Cajun dude? How you doing there boys? Pretty good. You sound like the old LSU coach. That's what I was going for. I'm not sure I hit the mark but yes down here in the in the belly of the beast of college football down here in LSU. Well with all the stuff that's been going on with Kiffin what does the attitude down there man
that you have an extensity kind of survey at first hand? Yeah I mean I feel like the attitude just across college football now it's really died down this week which is interesting because you know Lane Kiffin we met with him about an hour and a half or so ago and he hates it. He felt like it helped their team when it was like the SEC and the world against them last week and look he has a point they came out and played unbelievably and blowing out Clemson and he's like now this week we're dealing with in my opinion a worse problem which is now everyone thinks we're so great and we're going to just blow through everybody and we're going to kill you know we's in attack and all this so he definitely I think he definitely like being the villain himself and I feel like he likes having the target on his back for his football team so he's kind of had to in so many words kind of manufacture some you know some some not not used but like you know just some some words to their team about like hey maintain and focus and and being ready
for the challenge. I do think and I watch that game I think you have to give Lane Kiffin a lot of credit you might not like him and that's okay you might not like some of the things he's trying to do and that's okay but with so much stuff swirling around the program on Saturday night they hung 51 on Clemson and had to do so after a weather delay and Clemson maybe is not that good maybe Davos Winnie's behind the times but I I thought it was impressive and I was curious like with so much going on even with roster uncertainty are they going to put those two guys on the game day roster not the team itself look totally locked in. Team was totally locked in he said just as much and you know he always felt that like and and I'll kind of just you know having talked with him and kind of give my opinion I felt like I was almost on his side a little bit in that you know look most people don't know the whole story with these these two kids you know at dayquan right and they be in Harris yet so dayquan right everyone here's all he's trying to roster pro players the reality is you know dayquan right was there was in an NFL camp for seven practices
never played in a preseason game. Davian Harris got paid like $109 in gas money never even practice one time so at Lane's point the whole time was look we live in a world where you know Trinidad Cham was you know I played like six years of college football but he goes to court and he gets granted another year you know Diego Pavi over here he he is supposedly out of eligibility he goes to court so he wins he's allowed to play so his point is like if all these other guys they're making all these exceptions for this isn't that big of a stretch not these guys you know play the year in the NFL or even played one preseason game or one snap of a preseason game I think that along with I think just the kind of personal relationships he had with those two particular guys look you're gonna fight for your guys right if you've been in a fox store with some guys and and you believe in them and you think again you're looking around this whole college football world of gray area and he's like well if all these other guys can play why can't these guys play but
I think at the end of the day all that you know they've kind of settled that this is not going to uh look Ellis you know the SEC was never going to kick LSU at the SEC it was never going to happen so uh onward remove here the dude who got a hundred and nine dollars in gas money to that Phil is tank maybe not maybe not these days man yeah probably for those for those who don't remember so Lane Kiffins at Ole Miss last year they make the playoff he leaves while his team is in the playoff LSU goes to Ole Miss next week is he at all interested in talking about that already yeah of course we touched on but he of course wants to always bring the focus back on this week and what they got to do against you know Louisiana Tech came to put 80 points on you know Northwestern State and blah blah blah so he certainly feels that I think he you know he he relishes like having the target on his back he relishes you know those kind of things and
relishes almost being hated so that's not really the case this week next week he goes back to that role right where he did the wrong thing and everyone thinks he left his team and abandoned everybody and it's almost like he and the whole program it's derived on that we're talking to Rocky Boyman and Rock and Baton Rouge let's talk for people who aren't familiar with it because I a good friend of mine was his he and his two brothers graduated Auburn so I know SEC football in the culture may describe for people what that atmosphere is like because those people live and breathe this stuff I mean I spent the whole week you know just in my preparation listening to Louisiana talk radio you are very mild in some of your rants and they're the L.A.Q talk radio of the boy you ain't never heard of it's like I mean it is another level but yeah it just you know I always say that it means more down here whatever I don't know about that but it certainly
is a huge part of of the culture and and you know it's it's a big thing the other is like you know humongous you know awesome campus and you know the facilities are unbelievable and you know they're I'll tell you what by the way the most interesting person I met with today wasn't Lane Kiffon it was Billy Glasscock who is the general manager of LSU you want to talk about an operation about how they're I mean this is pro football guys this is one not in any way shape or form is this college football the way it used to be remembered this is a hundred percent a pro model and how they you know how they slot players how they recruit players you know players are given are given grades and they're given this score and that score in this aptitude test and they have to take this cognitive test and they do it's done it's like a science and how they you know how they choose to pay who and this and that it's it's really phenomenal I think they're kind of the head of the game I think in a few years a lot of coaches or or other programs will catch up but it's pretty
are they all Bengals fans down there because of burrow and chase I did get to see Joe Burrow's Heisman in the building or one of them so that was pretty cool but yeah I imagine imagine Joe Burrow is not paying for any meals if he comes down here because two of two of their all-time greatest play for play for the Bengals yeah we're going to be talking to a Vegas guy here in a little bit rock and you and I talked yesterday Jason Hoffman about it but the two the two big college games this weekend Texas Vio Ohio State and Oklahoma at Michigan Michigan who has become the you know maybe Lane Kiffin's a little happy that Michigan has become the villain in any sport right now I mean they are a disliked organization yeah I mean you know last week was you kind of really no fall of their own I think that was you know the big ten of officials but yeah somehow they they caught their you know they got caught
up and and all that mess I think it was funny that the NCAA came out with statement this week and said moving forward if there's any discrepancy the name they were going with the clock that you know like 10 million people are looking at not the super secret clock over here that like three people can see I thought that was interesting NFL I mentioned the same thing yeah they got they got they got the work could outform Michigan with without quarterback and you know you can pay some say 12 million bucks a year the five star and and he is he is regressed if you watch saying that game and I watched him went back and watch some of it and you know this is yes you got to have a great arm you got to be athletic and you got to be big and tall and all that but quarterback is about processing information I mean that is the number one trait a good quarterback has can you process information fast and nowhere to go to football and for whatever reason it just doesn't seem like price under what has that and and and it's almost worse than last year which is
which is not good and you wonder is that a skill that you kind of either have or you don't but I guess we'll see but Oklahoma certainly favorite now we saw Ohio State Texas last year score a whopping 21 points combined and I think that was a function of really good defense especially Ohio State in the red zone do you expect a similar type of game between the same two programs tomorrow yeah because I mean it's still early in the season I mean look I mean NFL it's kind of the same thing you know like early games you know a lot of guys don't play I'm course in college there's no preseason games and what in Ohio State played who ball state last week and nothing against them so I think defense is certainly going to be ahead of offenses and it just takes time to get that rhythm and and get the timing down and things like that and you got a you know not the Trish you got a great defensive coordinator um but I mean look those are two the teams that a lot of folks expect to be in in the mix and in in certainly in the playoffs and if not beyond so that'll be a fun game to watch
you mentioned the college football teams don't play preseason games you talk to the college coaches around the country I was listening to Bill O'Brien Boston colleges coach last week getting ready for for the UC BC game and he talked about it'd be great if we could have joint practices like NFL teams got sat a field this week talked a little bit about you know it it it'd been it'd been cool to get a team in the Midwest somewhere that we could have had a joint practice are you finding when you talk to coaches if this subject comes up that that's something they want and maybe something that can happen yes because believe it or not these coaches don't want to play some of these FCS schools and kill you know they like it because you know look they get to play everybody and they get to develop some guys and develop the roster but you know you're not getting the competition and you're rolling out there against a team you're gonna beat and you know a game is still a somewhat you know uncontrolled environment whereas I've always felt a joint practice while you can go ones V1s and you can go hard and you can do it just about everything you can still have some
control right you can you know if you want you can put a red jersey on the quarterback so he doesn't get killed right you know you can have a quick whistle you know there's things you can do and you can kind of you know it can dance some things so you just have some more control if you can work situations you can work red zone you can work goal line you can you can do all the things you need to do in all the situations without being as again as free as a as a real game would be so I think a lot of cozy would certainly embrace that and you know because you know you want to an early game that you're going to blow out a team because yeah because you want to kind of get in the flow of things I mean I always thought the the worst thing that happened in their day and last year is they start the season with Miami and Texas A&M and I'm looking around like Florida just played Long Island University like what the hell is going on here you know so you need some sort of you know ease into the year and get your guys ready to play I think joint practices would be a great idea and a lot of coaches have that good that all right with that rock live from

this weekend Lee what's up my friend how are you i'm good a lot better than the LA Rams last night oh boy Lee that was painful we were talking about that earlier and talking about sleep walking through a game good lord man I tried it didn't get much sleep I went to Norway this summer and that a six time zone change can you imagine 17 our time zone change I can guarantee you this there will not be an NFL team when you're going more than four or five time zones that will leave that late again just can't be gone I struggle when I fly to Arizona right and have to do anything the next day it does it screws me up right to the west coast all my good all right Lee I want to start with a huge college game so Ohio state Texas last year buck eyes beat him by seven in Columbus low scoring game both teams win big over we'll call him cub kegs and no Texas pleasure alma moderate week one long horns are laying a point in the half in Austin who do we like tomorrow
wait a second that's my alma mater Texas state so you know no jokes going for it just kidding here's the situation I've seen this game I went back and watched the game last year Texas outstatt at him 336 to 203 problem was inside the red zone they just couldn't get it done is most specifically inside the tent I just thought that Steve Sarkeesian's play calling was horrendous thought the execution was deplorable but given credit they realized what their weaknesses were they go after cam Coleman and outside of Jeremiah Smith and also Tony and Miami I think he might be the third best receiver in the country also added Hollywood smothers from North Carolina state very good running back I didn't realize how good he is taking on Texas's interchange five or six guys the last three years but I think he's the best of all of him he can you know make that first guy miss and that's important especially in the red zone so also Ryan Wingo their number one
receiver from last year he looks better than ever he couldn't shake the number one Ohio state cornerbacks and coverage but now he gets to go against probably the slot cover corner of the number three guy that's a that's a big difference here I also think Texas might be better in the trenches I was able to see the Ohio state came against Miami I went to that and I think after Ohio state went up against Indiana Miami I think that mystique that they dominate the trenches might be over so they lost some key guys there to the NFL draft give me Texas I think they're going to finally get over the hump here big game for the long horns long horns win 27-21 all right Michigan Oklahoma the suitors five and a half point favorites hopefully this Michigan game only last 60 minutes right here's a contingent let me set my my clock back here a second okay I'm all ready to go now I think that Bryce Underwood's done I mean I watched the press conference that he gave and I
think the kids checked out I do believe that if they don't score touchdown or feel goal probably the first two drives I think they're going to make them move and go to Lloyd cars grandson Tommy car so even even if Tommy car comes in this sooner's defense is really good maybe the best front seven in college football they were top five in almost every major statistical category last year John Matier looks like he's a hundred percent healthy they're going to go to more tight two tight in sets this year for better pass pro I think that'll help out more design one place for the quarterback and they brought in this kid John I'm sorry Lloyd Ebbent from Colorado state I didn't know much about him but I mean he seems like he packs a punch unless Oklahoma turns the ball over three or four times I think they're the right side 28 13 Lee Sterling paramount sports dot com making his money on college and pro football let's go to the NFL Atlanta's going to have to start Cooper
Russia quarterback Pittsburgh a favorite against the Falcons yeah and and we don't know how long this Mike McCarthy and Aaron Rogers reunions is going to going to be able to to exist here the breakups happen and I think eventually you'll see them go at it on the sideline both are are highly unstable at times but you know they didn't they didn't like each other near the end and I think it's like said it's just it's going to happen here now Cooper rush has been fine but has trouble with the linebackers and coverage so I think that you know with Pittsburgh sophisticated defensive schemes I think it's going to give him problems more than most teams not like playing you know team like you know even Carolina or you know a team that's you know going through a regime change so I just think that Pittsburgh's the right side here I think they win this game here 24 14
game all right stay in the division let's talk about another one with about Ravens v Colts at Colts Baltimore by three were saying so this game might be the Call of Two quarterback Samuel Jones coming back from the killies injury you know it's one thing to have an ACL injury but a killies injury just a it's a really tough injury a lot of times takes 16 to 20 months to heal properly and I think it's a lot of times in your head was an ACL injury I had it I've talked to many people have had it and you know sometimes six eight months you're almost ready to go again so I think the younger Jones is going to be hesitant I think they're going to try to protect him he lost one of the his top receivers and free agency Lamar Jackson seems to be working on well with the new offense here their new head coach Ravens head coach Jesse Minner one of the best defensive minds in my opinion did wonders with the charges his only problem is sometimes you know just too many injuries we've working with you know maybe down four or five starters but other than that I
think they only advantage is here I don't think that any necklace knows what to expect here I'm taking Baltimore I'm laying the three on the road here I think they're the right side I think they wouldn't cover 30 to 20 right here and Cincinnati Lee as you know the enthusiasm the optimism is through the roof Bengals opening at home they don't have a great week one track record lot of folks expect Tampa Bay to win the NFC South Bengals home favorites against the box who do we like so I'm not real high on Tampa Bay I think they've got some problems on the back end I think Baker may feel you know I probably wouldn't have signed him I would have let him play it out you know if if they're looking for a quarterback a lot of teams are going to be available next year this might be one of the best quarterback drafts in the last 30 40 years so they might have made a mistake there and they're all offensive line you know still you know I don't think they're top 10 top 15 so without Mike Evans that should help out since in Addie here but do you really want to lay
three in a hook with a team that has blown so many leads and not play well early I still have concerns about the secondary the offensive line Tampa Bay as we know is going to blitz a lot but I think they'll make at least one more big play here I'm going to say since in any wins the game 28 27 but Tampa Bay covers. All right Lee your thoughts you mentioned Baker may feel I thought that was interesting what you said because he has just put himself in certainly the top five paid quarterbacks in the league that to me is a little insane from the get go and I'm kind of a fan of mayfield explain. Oh I liked him and I liked him even more after watching the show quarterback I think he's admitted a lot of his faults I think he's you know somewhere between like 13th and 16th best quarterbacks if I had to rate the quarterback so you know you're always paying you know more towards the back end you know they've done studies football baseball basketball the best year on average that a player has 26 years old he's already past 30 he's you know he's one of these
guys not going to run out of bounds a whole lot he's his team's emotional leader and I think they would have probably done better you know letting it play out what's it going to cost him next to three or five million dollars Miami made the same mistake with two and they're still paying through next year for him. All right Baker mayfield's making a lot of coin how can folks make some coin this weekend a pair of Mount sports dot com. Well they want to get the border war we we sold the Wednesday night game with Seattle for a dollar never done that. I followed it up with Thursday and get with the under last night one that for two and O in the NFL were six and two in college football you want to get the border war tonight is a big game here. Missouri and Kansas so a lot to be settled here and you want to get that winner just go to paramountsports dot com one dollar that's one stinking dollar for the selection we won 32 the last 33 years in business and also we've got a USC card that starts two o'clock in the afternoon tomorrow you have see no Jay from Phoenix you can
get the five selections there for a dollar also how do you do it just one place paramountsports dot com. All right with that Lee we will let you go buddy thanks a much. Okay you're a great day take care at least early great stuff he's the best do you do you play the gamble a little bit on the games a little hello. A fan tool dot com get a 30% profit boosts weekend and I you do play fan do you play players or do you play games I go up against the spread and I like NFL player props scoring touchdowns things like that yeah. All right with that thought in mind we take you to traffic and weather what is going on. every position we got really good veterans but of leaders that have an edge to them and it's coupled with young guys that are getting better from maybe the rookie year a year ago a few years ago and so I just feel like we got a really good collection of everybody we need to go be successful and I would just got to put it all together and go play you know I'm kind of curious Joe burrow I mean there's all this noise and I'm sure you don't pay attention to most of it I don't know how many of the players I suspect a lot of them pay attention to it but you know so-called pundits etc. Burrow once I'd hear blood he comes out emphatically two days ago it says look make no mistake about it I am proud to be the quarterback of the Bengals this organization is moving in the right direction I'm not going anywhere does that have any sort of ripple effect inside the locker room well we don't pay attention about because we see it every day we know one speaker we his actions have showed us that we don't need to say that out loud so it's just off season narrative people need something to talk about so they try to pick through every comment that's ever made and
you just got to go play some games and and give them something else to talk about and he's had a great off season he's ready to be one of the leaders on our team and I'm excited to go watch and play on Sunday all right now before I let you go I got to ask you I got to ask you a question you played it a big powerhouse in college football when you're in the hotel on Saturday night the night before the game will you watch any of the Ohio State Texas game if we don't have meetings I don't know the time to games at usually I'll watch a couple minutes before meeting start that night and then when I get back in my room there's a good game on I'll turn it on so if that's night game I'm sure I'll catch a couple minutes of it you are a predict a winter force here on the morning show no all right hey good luck on Sunday I appreciate it thank you the home of the best Bengals coverage enjoy family night every Monday at Rouse American Grill and

Friday frenzy frenzy yes we are and let's get a guy who says crazy as a rest of us this guy's in the crazy because he covers he covers everything covers reds Bengals you see Xavier he'll do some date and stuff if Indian Hill is playing he's there Villanova's playing Louisville tonight he's probably going to be at that game he's on the the jungle war pod clns since he dot com you hear him on this radio station he fills in down the hall the great and I mean great Mike patralia tracks what's up that is two kind moe and Eddie thank you and I will be at Indian Hill tonight not down 71 at Louisville Villanova I will be at Indian Hill Wyoming at Tomahawk Stadium so after I conclude this Marconi award winning interview I will grab a quick bite to eat and then I'm out the door Mike yesterday I'm sitting in studio and I see DJ Turner on the injury report and like they've had
they've had this just off season of good news they've gotten through training camp for the most part very very healthy then I see DJ Turner on the report on Thursday and my heart skips a beat is he cool is he good for Sunday so first thing I did walking up that little hill to practice today moe was make sure I had my eyes off to the right looking on the practice field I saw the number zero in uniform full stretch full participation in the stretch and I took a deep breath and I'm like okay thank god because if he were not on the field you were looking at Dak Hill is one corner back at corner who hasn't really played a competitive snap all training camp or preseason as one corner and either Bobo Davis DJ IV or Josh Newton the other so fortunately we talked as act Taylor today after practice it was really never anything significant according to Zach it was more I think just a minor cramp and a precaution to get him out of practice on what was an incredibly human day
on Thursday in full pad so I think it was more precaution than anything else all right Trags also news out of the running back room is that true well going into the season one of the and I ask that about this today how confident are they in the running back situation because behind chase brown god loves Somajap Ryan he does so many things well he is a great soldier a great past protector is every die hard bangle fan knows you know if you have a third down situation you love seeing Somajap Ryan on the field because he's going to pick up a blitzer but as a bell weather you know a bell cow to really run the ball behind chase brown they don't really have that yes Taj Brooks is in his second season and he has made some progress but he's not the kind of guy you look to for explosive runs and I'm just thinking to myself a lot of teams Detroit Lions for instance a couple years ago when they had Jameer Gibbs
and David Montgomery you know teams like that that can run the ball effectively yes you have T and Jamar and yes you have the group of tight ends but I just think with so much focus on under center for Joe burrow this year it would be great to have some running back depth behind chase brown I think chase brown could have a sensational year I thought that last year took him half a season to really get going but I think chase brown could have another terrific year running and catching the ball just like to see a little bit more depth back there they spent the entire summer having Joe burrow under center at the close to every training camp practice we saw him under center in the brief glimpse we got to see from him in in the first preseason game do you expect them to commit to this and if it doesn't work out early do you expect them to stay committed to this yes I do Zach again spoke about that today they they are fully committed to winning however the game
demands them to win the game meaning if they have the lead they are going to be committed to under center slowing the you know shortening the game I should say for the opposing defense for the opposing team and running the ball when they need two to three yards you know first down second down third down they'd love to run the ball just to shorten the game for the opposition especially in their four minute offense when they have the lead and they're trying to run out the clock they have not he certainly didn't do a good job of that against the jets and the bears last year they'd like to have a chance to do that this year and Tracks a little birdie told me that you have some ideas as far as when they do punch it in something to add to the gritty situation what are you talking about so so so okay I was having a little fun before while we were waiting to walk up that hill into practice this morning and the the subject of celebrations and what's the next thing in line and I'm like
I love the key woods and I love the Iki shuffle and I'm of that generation of course and I just think a gritty shuffle would be great when you marry the two and I tried to do something like that and I'm there were no video there is no video of this I don't go searching the internet don't go searching instead of Twitter there's nothing out there like that but I tried it and I don't know I don't think it came out very well but I would love to see a player try it I'd like to see I'd like to see video like I I you know let's put it out there before you go to the football game for nice give us give us a closer full disclosure mo and Eddie ball dainer had his event last night he was smashing success and a lot of beat reporters were there and a lot of us were feeling you know loose and giddy at the end if you know what I mean and I think that's when it that that's that's
where the origins of said subject about touchdown celebrations has its roots if I'm partaking in full disclosure here that's what we're talking about but a gritty shuffle shouldn't that catch on shouldn't that be a great Cincinnati thing yes because it meshes you know the the era that I grew up with six grade there's Iki Woods like like my my childhood hero and Jamar chase who you know yes I'm I'm for anything that meshes these two like you know generations of Bengals football I'm all in yeah and I just think it would be a great visual on this especially if it's on the sideline after of course as we all know Iki had his celebration ban to behind the bench 5-E-N-F-L. I remember that well too with when that tracks we will let you go and forcibly we're so frenzy that we have to we can't stay in one place too long buddy all right guys enjoy the season it should be a fun one all right thanks so much Mike Patralia and I didn't get in commit to a record
12 12 and five 12 and five I was I was going to say 12 and five sounds right but this there is no way in how this team doesn't win at least 11 games if they that right now I think their greatest asset is health they're in a division where there's a lot to turn over the AFC seems wide open they have one of the easiest schedules they've the best quarterback in the sport as far as I'm concerned unbelievable continuity they've added pieces on defense they're going to win 12 games and I have them winning at the AFC North not wouldn't be surprised with that we had to trapping a weather what is going on from the UC Health Traffic Center UC Health has been helping Cincinnati thrive for 200 years and not stopping now find the groundbreaking care you need at UC Health dot com still an accident southbound 75 after Galbrett that's got the left lane blocked off also a 10 minute delay back from Shepherd Lane and a new accident in Northbound 71 75 that's before Dixie highway off on the right shoulder but be careful police over their on scene expect a few delays I'm Eddie Zellaka
