About this episode

CHGO Bulls Presents: The Run. Episode V. Drew Stevens and Big Dave talk about the Bulls new patch each players jersey will have this season honoring Stacey King. The team also revealed they will have a celebration of life for Stacey King in February. The crew discusses what that night may will be like and more about the player and legendary broadcaster. What's going on with you big day. Yeah feeling good man feeling good everything is alright you know what I'm saying everything

is cool. Want to ask you how's the move going is it over you cool is everything straight. Yeah I'll transform back into a human being again man. All that's rough all that fuss is going on. The move for some reason even though we hired movers felt harder than the previous two I don't really know how to equate that maybe it's just because we accumulated much more you know belonging is many more things are still getting adjusted we got the ale right behind us the dog and the cat have taken their turns waking us up in the middle of the night so still adjusting still got things on pack where happy to get like you know over the hardest part of the move for sure. Yeah I feel that man it's it's stuff still so we got a lot more the unpack and everything like that and that should take a little longer then I'm assuming. Yeah yeah figuring out where things should go how we want things to look what more we need to buy just to make better use of the space. Yeah. Do you got a spot just for you you got a Drew spot like this is wrong.

Oh I think my my son's room I currently am right now double double my space yeah I get that like don't mind me dog go to sleep don't mind. Right don't mind yeah I get that that's all right man. Well man dog again thank you for being here Drew we really appreciate it man. Oh man fifth episode of this the season is getting closer and closer my friend. I believe it is less than 28 days now until bulls preseason action takes place so that means media days coming up that means training camp is on the way man so yeah exciting time and we're going to dive into it man we're going to get right into it sir. Before we do that I do want to send some shots out yesterday. Hogan Johns did a live podcast at Utopian Village thanks and shout out to everybody that came out it was a real fun event but it was some people there who I just want to shout out

in particular who told me that they love the show that they enjoyed the show very much shout out to my man of course Andrew who runs everything there and we put everything together and it's the reason we were doing that stuff at Utopian Village man good luck on your wedding my friend shout out to you shout out to Joe from Seattle he's in Seattle he's from here he's being rigly villain things but he lives in Seattle shout out to him sir and shout out to my man Cass from Costa Migos he was he told me he was a big fan of mine was very excited to meet me I don't know why that happens Drew but he's very excited to be and yeah shout out to him and shout out to my man Dylan shout out to Dylan man who I chopped it up with right before I got a chance to leave bro and it was real cool talking and taking pictures with him and getting to meet him as well man and everybody else that I chopped it up with there as well man but yeah those things are always humbling Drew they really are those are always really humbling because as I told you I don't think nobody's

looking at anything that we're doing bro so when people reinforce that upon me is it's it's humbling though it really is but I appreciate it yeah I mean we've had the conversation before man yeah the positions to that we are in respectively and then like you know you saying you don't know why you get this type of attention but you you move about the world like in the in the right way man genuine I told you before like the same way you are on this show with the same way you are in person man like you you move like somebody that knows that it's not necessarily about what people can do for you but it's about like how people make you feel that's what you remember that's what you take away and you leave people I think you know in in in great spirit you meet them where they are man so it makes total sense to me hey man come on man come on man I knew I can't be talking to you you always do this man yeah

hey do me all know thank you bro thank you I appreciate that thank you I appreciate it man you deserve it man thank you bro I appreciate I do I do I do I do this is oh man yeah it's okay it is it's like wow okay but yeah oh Julia hey hey Julia shout out to all y'all the chat shout out to the believers shout out to Joe Joel man shout out to Dennis my man strict this up in here uh believers saying where's Matt Peck he is on vacation sir he is on vacation and that is why we're going to be discussing Josh kitty that's a joke that's a joke by the way but we're going to get into it we're going to talk about Tiago's flitter and we're going to talk about what players we think can thrive and what players we think may struggle under his leadership we'll dive into that we got a lot of thoughts on that we're going to talk about NBA tiers NBA ESPN has released their new tiers of all 30 teams in the NBA and the bulls are on that tier and yeah we'll talk about it though but first off drew it was a release today by the Chicago Bulls that they

will be honoring the great stacey King with a celebrating with the night celebrating his life and legacy will happen February 4th 2027 uh to be stacey King celebration night uh the bulls will be taking on the Oklahoma City Thunder on that night for those of you who don't know stacey King is from Oklahoma he's from Locke, Oklahoma and he played ball at uh the University Oklahoma he was a beast got a University Oklahoma let me just say that uh this will also take play six days after what would have been his 60th birthday man um and also the bulls will be honoring stacey King all season long with a special commemorative patch that will be on each player's jersey for the upcoming 2026 27 season thank you Joey see as you all get a look at that patch right there i'd like the little detail on it drew on that patch with the eye as a microphone

um i really like that little detail on that man and as usual man like and i've said there's a lot about the bulls pr in organization bro they they do these things right you know they always do them right man and i always commend them for always just being at the forefront of getting get correct and i think they've done it again here i think they absolutely have two man it's fitting like you said the the microphone um as the eye is just that's perfect uh i think this is the fourth time they've uh kind of had a patch commemorating somebody that we lost uh i think it's been David Ryan's door from the past um who am i forgetting normally in the one fan trying to read a curler it looked like running trying to read a curler they had like a a dual patch uh for those two gentlemen uh Jerry Sloan so like you said man they take their time with these things and they make sure that these people who met so much to the organization and so much to the fan base continue

to be honored past the time here on earth um and we we even saw in the schedule at least video there was a a little easter egg um when biny was was riding um in the car and you hear it spacey over the radio i think he said bb you know it's one of his famous of mini catch lines so um them and they they do it the right way yeah and and i appreciate them for uh always being like that with it um i wonder also i wonder will there be jerseys with that patch to be purchased uh i wonder because i'm saying that for myself you know what i'm saying and i haven't bought a bulls jersey of a current player in a while you know what i'm saying but and but i would if that's available i think that is something i absolutely would love to have bro and just had that there but um yeah we had adamamine on the show recently uh talking about stacey uh and what he meant to him and

yeah man he just meant so much i think we we said this before Jerry just he just meant so much to so many people man worldwide and he touched so many lives and it was just kind of taking from us that i still don't feel like we're we're ready yet you know what i'm saying like a prepared to uh dive in and and deal with the fact that that we're not going to hear him uh going forward and that's going to suck um but i mean i feel like as a community we'll we'll be uh comforting each other you know i'm saying during that time and and how it's happening but it's it's not going to be easy man but as a bulls community you know i'm saying we'll be doing it together and that's adamamine and cam smith and kittle gill and we'll produce all included and scott williams and everybody from the top down to the to the most highest up in the organization to the smallest bulls fan who are all affected by stacey king man we'll be doing that together yeah nah no doubt and it's you know it stacey was the reason why i think a lot of fans continued to tune in even though uh there are a lot

of lean years recently um and it's even more heartbreaking when you think about how the pendulum seems to be beginning to swing in a different direction now and he we're not going to be able to hear him call these games and you know give out more nicknames and come up with more catch phrases and put people on the poster uh but you know stacey will never be forgotten he he meant too much to the organization and he means too much to the fan base ever be forgotten and i didn't even think about uh you know the bulls possibly selling those jerseys with that patch on there that that to be uh a nice touch especially if they you know maybe donate the proceeds uh one of his service charities or something of that nature so um like you said man the whole community is going to have to pull it together i like that on twitter from what i've seen people are not as it seemed like people are going to put too much pressure on the rotating uh color commentators that will be with um add on during the season like they we you know everybody knows what it is man uh they're

trying to you know kind of feel this this thing out and and feel their way through and see what the next phase uh bulls basketball is going to be like from commentating standpoint yeah that's true and that's that's something i didn't really uh get a chance to speak about now to bring in that up um it's the new you know rotation that they're kind of going to be doing uh for that um with kind with kind of gill with our guy uh we're producing there as well police scott will you also as well and i feel like i'm missing somebody else um but yeah man like i agree with you i think that's kind of don't right because again it's so it was so sudden and nobody's prepared you know what i'm saying for this kind of thing that you're not going to have somebody like hey ready to go you know what i'm saying hop in guys like nah man and those are and and you don't want somebody coming in trying to feel shoes like i want somebody bringing their own shoes you know what i'm saying in this instance and same way stacey did it uh with Johnny red curr you didn't want somebody coming in trying to feel red curr shoes like that's impossible

like but you bring your own pair and then you you know creating that and we saw with stacey created in his own shoes so no i think this is right uh shout out to kindle gill uh forget miss as well can't wait to hear his analysis and and talking points during the game also will produce who i don't know if you ever spoken ball with him drew but like it's like man that dude knows ball man like it is impressive to sit and listen to him speak absolutely absolutely man i like the choices or the choices that they they've made for this uh i think each person's gonna be something bring something different to the table which i think is needed too get a different flavor release one of the the guys that they have i saw kindle at la fitness a few weeks ago man i was flags surprise what are you doing you know what i'm doing in the gym we used to hear in the bunch of working outside working out you know 60 40 cold right yeah um at that time i don't think the news had been revealed yet but yeah just looking forward to what each person's gonna bring for the table uh this upcoming season

yeah it's gonna be good man uh believe it be i appreciate you believe it man appreciate the uh hey hey man come on dude y'all he done it come on i'm gonna sue believe the chrassure and flip sides shut out to you as well man appreciate y'all i do appreciate y'all but you can definitely tune in during the season and just hear myself from my man back packing will the ol god leave as we bring you that pregame and that post game and that off-day podcast as you know that we are going to do and excited to do um we miss you stacey k we love you bro we love you uh coming back we're gonna dive into espn's list of mba tears of all 30 teams their tears and where they are very interesting very curious to hear drool comments on that and we might be diving into some josh giddy and tiago splitter talk who's gonna thrive under him who's gonna struggle under tiago we're gonna get into it y'all come on back into you know what when you leave your house

you're walking out getting your car and you're going about your day you might turn on the radio a little bit you know might drink some water but then you'll say oh man i gotta go back i forgot to turn off the soul oh man i gotta go back i forgot to put away the dog uh i forget all these things guess what ladies and gentlemen exfinity is gonna take care of that exfinity shield think of it as a force field for your home built right into your wifi giving you peace of mind for your home your family and your life online with wifi motion detection ladies and gents exfinity gateway can sense moving in your home no cameras needed you can rest easy wherever you are exfinity cyber secure ladies and gentlemen your devices are protected from threats and risky sites the moment you connect to them what if your wifi had peace of mind built in hmm imagine that exfinity restricts the supply select plans only exfinity internet and compatible

episode five keep those comments coming y'all make sure you are hitting that like button as well we appreciate y'all hanging out with us um how about we talk about these tears real quick uh ESPN ladies and gents has released their tears and shout out to my man Zach Kram who we've been talking about a lot uh on this podcast has listed tears for all 30 NBA teams this year from championship favorites to non competitive each team is pretty represented so where would the bulls wind up in this tier you say you ask well the bulls wind up in the tier of non competitive with their own pick along with guess who the sacramental king ladies gentlemen oh no uh i'm gonna read you what Zach said about it the final two tears occupied the same broad space in the standings as the five teams

within film are unlikely to contend this season but one key difference separate Chicago and sacramental from the final trio the bulls possessed their own 2027 first rounder which means they've incentivized to win enough games to maximize their lottery odds due to the new rules that penalize the teams with the three worst records in the league the bulls should be good enough to avoid that fate after adding veterans Norman Powell and Nick claxton in the offseason all those Chicago's primary goal should be developing the young front court duo of modus muzele's and rookie Kayla Wilson and may i add here here uh true how do you how do you feel about these this tear that the bulls are in and and what that crown uh kind of has to say about this i think it makes sense i i tend to agree with them uh that being said i think the the challenge that is in front of Bryson Graham is to figure out you know how does he turn these veterans on the roster into

you know what's going to become with the next great bulls team or the next best bulls team uh with you got pal and claxon and jones and jaylen smith and zack olland's even on the roster i think a coral can you extract value from these guys uh long term so that the future looks a little bit better moving forward you know and i've begun to wonder like how much or how important it is for the for the bulls to avoid the relegations on like okay would you would you rather avoid relegation and wind up with the top three pick this year maybe land a tyrant stokes or would you prefer to still be able to get a top three top five pick next summer uh where there are um you know some some bigger names maybe more talent at the very top of the draft so uh you know kind of wondering what what what's going to come of that um kind of position that the bulls are in

right now because winds right now there's a difference between the bulls winning games where Kayla Wilson you know shows himself to be the the player that we saw him being in summer league and modest takes a jump and Josh Gidey looks to be even more improved on the ball as a pull-up shooter as someone who can uh take better care of the ball maybe be a better team defender and then Norman Powell and Nick claxon or Tray Jones like helping you get to 31 35 36 wins like yeah i don't i don't think that's necessarily valuable to the bulls if the vets on this team are the ones that are getting them to these wins so depending on what their record looks like that's being a closeness of the trade deadline i'll be very interested to see how Graham looks at the team and what he decides to do moving forward does he stick to development being the name of the game this season does ownership say hey man we right now are you know a game or two out of the playing race

while we hold on to these veterans so maybe we can make a push for the playing but at the expense of what you know there's always a bet being made where are these bets being made on you know so that's that's what my interest kind of lies with with this article is not necessarily all the bulls are too low i think Bryson Graham is told us every time he's opened his mouth that this is the ground floor of a rebuild and i know bulls fans kind of look at this roster they see what Kayla Wilson did Kayla Wilson did they see Madras Mosella's the season that he had last year they have faith and Josh Gettie some other members on the bench and and they project the bulls to be better than a lot of national writers and a national pundits but at the end of the day i've said this many times like i'm not necessarily looking at the win lost record i'm looking more so at each individual player and what type of improvements they're making and then more so what Graham is doing with the roster as he gets into another transactional cycle and affects the team move forward that's man

so that's interesting that you're saying that because all i'm thinking of we you're talking about how they're with all i'm thinking about is do you feel like that hasn't changed i mean that ideology kind of hasn't changed because that's something that's been around for a while now in the NBA like and we talked about on our show just yeah we see how that they won but how did they win do you you don't feel that changes you know with these new rules being implemented and you feel like it's still okay if Caleb balls out if modest balls out then great but if it's Norman Powell and his other guys with one year contracts it's not gonna really affect how you feel about what this team could be going forward yeah i'm still over the same mind and i think it probably has a lot to do with the fact that if the bulls earn a top three pick this season they can't get another top three pick next season if i have that correct so that's kind of where my where my mind said

is like they still need to be in talent acquisition stage right now whether that be draft capital or bringing in brace yourself young players with experience and and only i only really say that because this summer we didn't see a lot of first round draft capital being moved unless you were a team that was moving on from Julius Randall or Lamello ball or Miles Bridges so i don't know if that's going to continue to hold and i don't know you know how much first round draft capital is going to be available for players on this team you know i think the idea was that when Graham went in sign Norman Powell that he could be somebody that might be able to get you a first round pick that remains to be seen we'll see and we also don't know how he feels about these these veterans and if they are more valuable to the bulls and what they're trying to build or whether it be more valuable and what they can return if you trade them.

The believer says we need to position ourselves to maximize our changes to get a top four pick not next year but the following um go ahead Drew go ahead speak on that. I don't know i'm just you know he's like that yeah. Here's my thought on that i don't i'm not i'm not saying that's wrong my thing is i don't want the front office thinking this way and what i mean by that is no matter what draft it is or who's in it your job is to know what the best talent is and get that best talent on my team now so i don't care if the draft is bare bones your job is to find the meat on those bones like that's it so i'm not worried about the gear after i'm worried about now because i mean time is important in this instance right so you want to be able to get started and you don't want to keep waiting and playing that game like that because you've I've seen way too many teams fail you know saying

trying to do it that way and then they just right they just keep waiting so that you just don't know like i've heard many times Drew when you've heard like it's going to be a bad draft it's going to be a bad draft and then it's like several really good NBA players that are in it and i'm like yeah that's the job you find the talent within that no matter what yeah no i i hear you man and it is not an exact science there's yeah so many variables but i guess how i would uh counter you is to say what if i told you that this upcoming draft on paper before we know what these guys are going to be as pros the top pick could be a Zachary Risha Shade type guy whereas two summers it could be a Cooper Flag type guy would you feel any differently if i told you to over the top players in each other the next two drafts would you feel differently as a fan yes as a front-off is the exact note like because you you i need you to know who you think is the best player in this draft and not just who everybody's consensus is like if it's Risha saying sar okay they clearly weren't the best

place in that draft right but there was some talent in that draft you know saying that that came out of it does that make it Atlanta's far or for not you know knowing what the talent was or just saying hey man this is the consensus so we're going with that you know what i'm saying we can feel that this feels like it could be right as a fan bro yeah i i and not even i shouldn't even just say as a fan this you was a incredible knowledgeable ball nowhere bro like you correct you are right and if an organization decides to look at it like that i'm not going to be mad but i'm always like man every year you can find some talent you can find somebody in a draft to be on your team and that's your job so if you get that guy and he turns out to be something cool but i don't want you you got to avoid the huge mistakes it's like i tell my nephew in life through all the time make all the mistakes you want just don't make permanent ones so it's like Anthony Bennett the permanent mistake you know what i'm saying like bro don't make that

mistake you know a recent shame and star you know i'm saying might still turn to anyone once been traded already forget this thing they still might turn out to be something you know what i mean might work out for you in his draft i think it's a permanent mistake you know like that but it can't be a complete failure and i don't know how the draft works bro like it's all luck you know i'm saying how it goes about and how things could work and yeah that could be that Cooper flag guy there it's not a guarantee you're going to walk away with that Cooper flag guy you know what i'm saying it's just not it's not a guarantee of that um so i got i'm more so like let me take what's in front of me you know and if i can get something really good with what's in front of me give me that you know what i'm saying today let me build on that bro because you just don't know i just don't know it's hard for me to operate on what i don't know you know what i'm saying yeah i'll do it i mean until your point you know the the biggest thing that i think got bison gram this job is that it's just talented evaluation so hey man you got to be able to

to extract value wherever you can and whether that's the first pick or the ninth you know you got to be able to pick the guy who you think is gonna best suit this your team moving forward so i hear you on that i do hear you on that i feel you don't trust me you're right like i said for the beginning you are correct in your assessment bro but this again i'm a feelings guy i'm doing feelings bro oh we come back man we're gonna dive into what everybody wants to discuss and that is the one and only Josh get it because i'm gonna ask a question about him and ask wrap around the bulls-do head coach teago's flitter and of course ladies and gentlemen we're gonna be talking some hip hop on this show you've got a belief that is happening man you're gonna want to come on back and see that be back in two minutes ladies and gentlemen our friends are here your friends are here to elevate your summer your fall your winter and your spring all season long

joe c is on production make sure you're following drew on twitter at bi drew stevens b y drew stevens all right drew um this is the topic i'm interested to really get into uh with you and since it's going to i feel like the temperature may be high and low on this one how about we take the temp on this right here ladies and gentlemen from our fine folks at four seasons heating air conditioning plumbing sewer and electric make sure you head to four seasons now colleagues gentlemen and get all those money saving offers and coupons so with everything being new pretty much on this bulls team and front office to some extent logically we'll take time to like grow and adapt and those kind of things but when you're growing and get your dafting that means growing pains so it makes me think if happy thinking man like about tiago splitter now tiago splitter has already indicated how you

wants the team to play uh physicality hard work toughness accountability those kind of things we don't know what the x's and o's will truly look like yet but it still leads me to ask the question just based off of his philosophy and what we saw in portland for that one very successful year uh for him who do we think will thrive under tiago splitter and who do we think will struggle under tiago splitter let's start with uh i want to start with thriving drew like what bulls player or players uh do you feel will absolutely thrive under the philosophy of a guy like tiago splitter so the first person that came to mama was jazgity and maybe it doesn't have as much to do with tiago splitter and his system or his philosophy as much as it has to do with who's around him now the fact that he will have modest and Caleb on the wing and nor empowel kind of you know uh

taking over space on the wing and making sure that guys are playing honest and then you have Nick Claxon feeling the lane and rim running and being a lot of threat that uh you know jazgity has never played with before like i i i imagine that you know jazgity is pretty excited about the the weapons yeah that he has at his arseneud is a this upcoming season um but that's that's who my mind went to immediately like this seems to be in terms of you know a star in line up um like the the guys that you think can can help him play his best basketball um now we still need to see your improvement you know if if if you have all the toys you want next to you now your weaknesses kind of get more exposed um you know are you able to knock down three's when defenses are going under screens are you able to get to the rim more consistently uh draw fows gets it a free throw line

instead of making that spin move and kind of throwing air and passes behind you to the top of the key can you keep going to the rim and finish or can you draw the defense and you know maybe spray out to the three point line i throw a lob up to to one of the my stars you got right now running and winning and modest and Caleb and and and Claxon so um my mind went to josh man i don't know where where yours went i'm interested to hear what your mind went well you just said something interesting man what why do you feel your weaknesses get exposed more when you have more talent around you and more toys around you i think more so because there's no more excuses not that josh has ever made excuses no no no no no you never have so i want to make that clear but now that you have more athleticism around you um i imagine that uh tiago is going to want to play just as fast as billy did i think the differences may become somewhere in the half court in terms of what sets they actually run and what actions they want to want to get off but they're going to want to play with pace um make quick

decisions with the ball uh and you have guys that can feel the lane who can finish after rame who are super athletic um it kind of fit this type of player that you are from josh get it you know you you want to dish you want to rack up a dish you want to look for open guys um and now that you have those at your disposal how do you do um on a flip side of that you know um like i said are you able to exploit defenses who still don't respect your jump shot when you got the ball and are you able to consistently get down here um and play with strength play to your size like we we talk about how big josh is and we've seen him play physical at times but we you know the boys need him to play that way more frequently more often um so that that's why i said that um that makes that makes sense man as far as who i thought of two players in evening came to mind one is the easy answer and that's Caleb Wilson um he clearly fits the entire philosophy of what uh teago's litter once in a player

once he wants out of a player and everything from on the court to off the court like Caleb Wilson fits all of that so i feel like that's the easy answer uh for it uh and not that not that that's a bad thing easy it's good the boys need more layups you know saying on their team as many layups as they can get uh on this on this team so that's great but i agree with you as far as josh get he i think he can absolutely thrive under teago's litter and a lot of it drew is looking at some of the stuff he did in portland now drew holidays a completely different kind of point guard okay through holidays a defensive point guard you know what i'm saying he can run a half go he can do anything you need drew holiday can do it but my point is he was heavily dependent on a guy like drew holiday to run that team and to uh get everybody set what they need to be on the offensive side and the defensive side so he played to his strengths in in that kind of way and i feel like

josh get he will get that same kind of opportunity and any head coach that i've seen drew like and i'm just thinking of really like excellent point guards or ones that i've really like they don't they don't coach them they they allow them to be the coach kind of on the floor we can go back to a few years ago watching Lonzo out there with Billy Donovan Billy Donovan did give Lonzo Ball place but he's Lonzo Ball ran that stuff out there you he understood what Billy wanted and so he just did it you know what i mean because Lonzo's IQ was out of this world so he got what was happening josh getty is a really good IQ player like especially on the offensive end if we're just running and and getting things going like that i think his IQ was solid on the defensive end it's gotten better i'm just talking about his communication not his defense so much but i think his communication on the defensive side has gotten a little bit better and his effort has gotten better on that side of the ball too so i think he'll have ample opportunity to prove to tiago splitter and everybody else

that give me the damn ball like i got this i'm gonna run it because if it wasn't drew holiday doing it it was uh denny out via doing it those are the two dudes handling the ball uh and the half core for denny out via is give me the ball and get out the way and you know what i'm saying like and josh getty i think you can play into that too you know what i'm saying as far as his game um it's concerned with that but there was a question i wanted to ask you about uh getty because i i had a feeling we were gonna uh talk about him and maybe you agree on him a little bit but our guy and friend of the podcast i got uh david lithgaugh who is a you know champion lover of josh getty okay like he is about he chava ranks out here with him love for my man josh getty man and he brought up something interesting yesterday on our uh he tweeted us something i should say interesting yesterday he said we haven't discussed the fact that josh getty can be a number two or even a

number three uh in his offense and i wanted to ask you that drew specifically uh what do you think of that idea of josh getty being a number two or an off-ball guard or even getting some run at the three do you do you see that uh as a possibility on this team for the bulls in terms of like he can be a number two or number three like on a on a team that aspires to not only gets to the playoffs but can send for a championship no i'm just i'll be i'll be on the bulls like next year right now you can be on that being that guy who's the number two or can play it you know say on the number two or number three even if it's within the game and it's going on and they switch it over like hey getty run the two or hey getty you know let's move you to the three do you think that that could work or something that could be a good thing or bad thing uh for the bulls i don't know if it will work but i think that it would be important for the bulls to try different things for sure um especially when it comes to to josh getty like why not see what other value you

can get from him if it's not just him on the ball a hundred percent of the time like i'm i'm not opposed to to see in ciego experiment in that way because i assume that normal pals probably going to be the leading scorer that's kind of going to be the the the number one option there and then from there you know i think i'm looking maybe at modest and josh being the next two leading scores i'm i'm with a lot of bulls fans and national media with the excitement around cale of Wilson i just i want to see some evidence on the NBA level where he's playing against you know a different caliber of opponent than he was in the summer league um that's why i'm not kind of just thrusting him into being like the number one option from day one like you know he needs to take his lumps experience some things um and get his feet wet you know on on on that level but i think the bulls should be in a position where they experiment the entire season and that's going to be interesting like convergence of things like do they stick to the idea that this season is

about development or at some point do they start to give the majority of the minutes to the vets like where is rob billi-ham's placed on this team daneswayne no less in gay like you know there's you can only play so many guys like it's just y'all going 90 10 deep you know i can't imagine going deeper than 10 guys at a time and and that kind of leaves out rob at no and dailin um probably than patching william so um there is it's it's going to be an insuressen season from last standpoint in terms of do they continue to talk to talk or walk the walk that they've talked up until this point about uh what this season means to them and who they're trying to develop and in what ways uh joe eco being says i feel Josh has been tightcast from his okay c-days in the playoffs he's improved as a bull he has he's he's absolutely gotten better and improved uh under this team and

has got a couple more years to show if he can be improved even more you know what i'm saying on the scene because if getty gets to the point if he's like that 20 point score 20 plus per game guy you know scoring the ball and he's getting to the free throw line and he's three doing all those things yeah awesome i'll be over the moon like it like i'm gonna be super excited you know for all of that man but but yeah that we'll see if what they do as far as the versatility and and how they decide if they want to play with him at the two or the three and you're right through like everything's kind of on the table um as far as how they want to play and and who they want where hell play modest at at the five cheat with him at the five see what happens you know i'm saying like i don't care you know i'm saying like figure this is the season to figure those things out or how you want to roll uh you kind of touched on the other players uh and as far as their time when they get time on the floor so let's discuss who we feel might struggle you know i'm saying under a teago splitter so who's the players that come to mind for you who make struggle under the new head coach so the first

three guys at can't have a mile were were modest bailin and Noah and you know it's important that when we when we use the word struggle like we're not talking about like this have awful seasons right for for modest it could be you know him failing to turn this newfound creative freedom into more production for Noah it can be never getting out of teago's doghouse which is seen like he's in for some reason uh for swain it could be never justifying him being picked 15th and maybe spinning the bulk of the season in the glee um but modest was the first name that came in my mind and it's because the context surrounding him has changed like before the bulls moved into position where they could drive Caleb it was okay to think that man can modest be the foundational piece of the next good better bulls team now it seems to be can modest be a compliment to the center

piece that we think Caleb Wilson is and he's talked a couple times a few times this summer about the constraints that he had to play in with not you know uh being allowed to live in the mid range um he's talked about how that can open up the floor for him he's gotten stronger he works on his game tirelessly now we have to see what that translate into it does does it improve straight translate into him getting down here or more and being able to fight through contact and gets to the line uh does his offseason work when he's working on his ballhand him does that translate into him generating more space to maybe take that take step back their range jump shots or you know find other ways to uh use his athleticism like you know uh his he was the first person to come on mind he's he's kind of even more than Caleb I think i'm more interested to see what happens with modest this season whether he whether he thrives or does he like I said does he find it tough

to get off the kind of game that he wants to get off because he's still not able to create a kind of separation consistently that he needs to be able to shoot the mid range shot you know it's it's it'll be interesting season for uh you know many different reasons but modest it'll be modest will be interesting kind of test case this upcoming season follow him on twitter at by Drew Stevens be why Drew Stevens ladies and gentlemen that is a brilliant young man right there um because I didn't even think of that like i'm just sitting there listening like dang yeah like that's on point it's an important season and he's you know next somewhere if i'm not mistaken he'll be extension eligible so now we're getting to the point in time where the bulls or the league if they let them be to restrict the free agency dictate his value and you know players don't want to be in opposition restrict the free agency we've seen it now historically especially like these past two seasons whether it be Josh Gitti or more recently Jonathan Kaminga he doesn't want to get to that point he wants to show out and show improve and show

his value to this organization but there's only so much time left for him to do that all facts sir the believer says who will struggle with Tiago Noah since he lacks his the quality because of his body and also Patrick Williams because of many reasons yeah okay cool says splitter will push pace could mean more turnovers and this is a weakness for Josh that is a accurate accurate statement that is very true um Josh getting ball handling it's got to get a little bit better his handles got to get tighter uh and i think it's part of the reason why he doesn't really have a true move drew like a move that he can just say okay one on one he just uses his body to kind of crash into people and you know try to draw fouls you know that kind of way but that's a very good point though that that that could be a problem uh as far as the guy i think was struggled the guys that came to my mind drew were were definitely uh s a gay because again that's easy because we already seen it

like we already told you uh what was going on but they let's Wayne uh came to my mind also as well he i just feel like that guy i don't want him and it this is me speaking and not knowing okay this is me speaking and not knowing but it feels like he may be putting more on himself uh in this and just wanting to be perfect and i know those kind of people i used to be one of those kind of people just wanting to be perfect at everything until i realized it's it's a myth like you know what i'm saying the perfection is pretty much you and how you move and how you do things and he's got to get to that point and it feels like that's some of the set on back just a little bit like it didn't feel like a step forward for me it didn't feel like a step forward or it didn't feel like i'm just standing pat it felt like he's just took a little he took his foot and he moved back a little bit and he's like okay let me get a running start at this kind of thing you know what I mean and if this is a season of a bulls are trying to win and do those kind of things then he won't have time

you know i'm saying to take steps back is going to have to be that development on the fly uh kind of thing and you're right uh when you talk about the minutes like who's going to get in there you know what i'm saying and be able to get those minutes this is why i think pre-season is going to be so important when it comes to those kind of things and figuring that stuff out but i could see him struggling and spending more time in the glee which is fine i don't have an issue with this but i could see him spending more time in the glee just developing and working on his game because i feel like for the position they want him at he's got to be ready to go like you can kind of develop and cheat as a bigger guy like s a gay i think can do that because he's a really he's honestly in my opinion a good defender and you can kind of cheat on that because defense gets a young guy on the floor as you as you know defense can get you on the floor as a young guy but the position that daylin is is is kind of planned it's either the one or two you know and it feel like you

got to be ready you know telling this to you got to be ready to go this straight Jones and Josh Giddy you coming by you you got to be ready to go and Dylan Helms nipping at your heels and then you've got Norman Powell and you've got Isaac and Coral like okay you got to be ready to go and step in you know i'm saying for those guys so he may be the one that that struggles under this i hope not i hope he just continues to improve but that that's who i thought over and i thought it is yeah yeah um i agree with with everything you said and to your point i don't think that him spending time in a glee even if it's throughout the duration of the season i think that's a bad thing if they truly want him to develop his on-ball skills uh learn how to create uh run an offense mitigate turnovers be it better finisher at the rims and what he showed in summer league there's no better place to work on that than in the glee if that's opportunity that's going to be giving him in year one but come April ish like i think the question will go to well has he shown

enough in a glee then now you know we can see him on the big stage with the big league bulls they give him opportunities there uh you know he he didn't get off to a great start and like you said he kind of took a step backwards but maybe in him struggling and the summer league maybe that helped him find something to you know clear his mind more when he's out there on the court i don't know you know what that has happened or not but he did speak to you know him being in his in his own head even though it kind of still continued throughout summer league maybe he found something that's going to help him play in a more you know reactive state and i'd just be thinking the game uh the whole time because like you said when when you don't want to make even a mistake that's when most mistakes happen you got to try to play with as clear of a head as you can so um you know he's he's he's got some things to show and again this this rotation man like i think

you know everybody wants the bulls to get first round draft picks for some of the players on this team i think there's there's also in value maybe in trading some of these vets to open up minutes for young players that'll be something else we have to watch as we get closer to the trade their line into what kind of grounds philosophy is going to be and if he stays true to what he's been saying or if he shows up shows us something different um because there's not a lot of openings on this roster right now and unlike bail and swane noa singe you know it's not a draft pick of theirs they are not beholden to him and they almost seem like they're looking at him more of an asset than you know a key card to a fusion bullseye moving forward already so you know there's a lot a lot to prove in this in this training camp that's coming up later this month hold out to prove bro yeah uh that's us taking the tent ladies and gentlemen that is from four seasons the fine beautiful wonderful

people at four seasons ladies gentlemen make sure you go to four seaks dot com get all those money saving coupons that you can and save on a new a c unit and get your heat is straight too also and your water tank as a whole motor trust me that water tank is important um all right do let's get you to it man let's get to the the fun stuff about here not saying that one fun but let's get to some hip hop history and talk about it so with this being September 10th I said let's find the albums on September 11 because it was a pretty huge day um music wise uh when it came out over the year I didn't realize how much it went down you know I'm saying on September 11 music wise um so it's a few albums man that came out that want to get into and talk to you about drew and talk to Joey see as well because Joey sees takes this ask his learning his education to take so let's start with uh this is just for me this is a me part this is my man out in the bay shout out to short

to shorts album short dogs in the house like I said released on September 11th album features ice uh standout songs on the uh the ghetto uh short but funky the album debuted at number 20 and the album is platinum selling one million records sold by two short the reason I wanted to talk about this album because I have vivid memories about this as a very tiny child my oldest brother loved two short loves two short okay and because I'm always brother huge uh funky delet problem and funky delet fan and two short used a lot of that in in his music and so I have vivid memories of seeing this album laying around you know what I mean and right there my brother playing it for me now should I have been listening to it at the young age maybe not maybe not in some songs on that you know stand there you can sit here but I wasn't processing that I

literally was hearing the music on that and I'll be blown away by it um and two short like it's just always been consistent always had that same kind of flowing style but it's not just talking about you know I'm saying that one side of thing like this one like that song the ghetto was the first time I had heard him like kind of dive uh into the harsh realities in the existence of what's going you know I'm saying in those neighborhoods or in our neighborhoods uh like that man and I appreciated him for doing stuff like that and that song was great I still listen to it honestly but it's probably my favorite two short album I still play it um but yeah I was very like I should have been listening to it too but it's it was it's it's hard you know say it's a great album really it's great album though yeah yeah man I was seven when that when that album came out yeah yeah we were young when that when that stuff was happening bro we were very young when that stuff

was going on but but yeah but I remember it very well man shut out to my brother man thank you very much bro um let's get to this next one let's get this next album here oh a battle took place ladies gents a battle just went on and took place and it happened the battle was between Kanye West and 50 cent and that battle they both had their albums released on that state of September 11 2007 and they went head to head uh to see obviously who would outsell the other now obviously it was a friendly what they called what what can you call a friendly fate you know saying like you know what I mean the friendly fire it wasn't nothing to it you know what I mean people tried to play it up like it was something it really was nothing it was just seeing who was gonna sell the most uh Kanye West won as far sales were concerned on that one graduation so 437 thousand copies the first day of release um ended up selling 957 it's first week

it went number one uh Curtis sold 691 thousand copies in its first week and it came in at number two I believe Curtis is going on to sell 1.5 million and graduation has sold 8 million so far so it will be diamond like pretty much went gold in a day platinum and who he can it it'll pretty much be diamond uh drew I want to get your answer to this but we're gonna go to a bit of overtime and get your answer over time all chgeo.com follow along thank y'all for continuing the role with us drew what do you win remember about this you know saying this fake battle and these uh these two albums right here uh just just them being on 106th Park and promoting it that way and I remember this yeah fake square and off you you mentioned it um with me you enjoyed we're talking about before we hopped on here the Rolling Stones uh magazine and had them two uh face the face on the cover I

had that magazine and I have no idea where it is right now um but just just that man um I was a huge Kanye fan those first three albums to me rival any three albums of any artist um ever and that's me not really you know in this space maybe not um thinking about historical artists that maybe I wasn't uh listen to back in a day but man oh it's hard to touch those first three albums um my my absolute favorite Kanye West album is later registration but graduation is like right behind there um I want to say I have both of these albums I know I had graduation I'm pretty sure I picked up Curtis too um but to me after the massacre maybe was kind of coming down a little bit yeah um like Kanye was still on the uptick um but yeah that's what I remember man just the cover art uh just anticipation of Kanye dropping something something new because like I said you can't tell me nothing about Kanye back in those days man that that was my go-to

no brother you you you and the entire city oh Chicago when you couldn't tell us nothing about him you're right you couldn't tell us anything about Kanye West graduation felt like the victory lap photos first two albums uh that he put out again that was the time when the glow in the dark tour happened um with him with loop a fiasco with any rd and refriana still the greatest concert I've ever been to uh in my life I will talk about it all the time um it was it was phenomenal and yeah graduation was just I remember what I vividly remember about this album is when it first came out and I'm playing it and I'm playing through it and the girl I was dating at the time uh we were going to the store and I'm and I'm playing it out right and I get to I I wonder and I wonder is on and it's playing and I'm like yeah I don't know man I was like man it's this album I don't know if I'm feeling this I don't know if I like this and then when we get out the car and I'm walking through

the store all I kept saying was and I wonder if you know and I was like uh oh wait me I think I like I think this is though and I'm like oh I told I was like yo hurry up I gotta get back to the car I gotta finish this album I gotta get back to the car and I was like okay yeah no it was me I was wrong I love this I love this this is incredible continue on this Mr. West so no great album and as far as uh Curtis it was okay I think it was all right it wasn't it wasn't the massacre it wasn't get rich or die trying um but it still had I get money on it you know what I'm saying it had uh straight to the bank on it have uh follow my lead we're probably thick on it like it has some joints you know what I said I had some songs but yeah it wasn't the graduation bros let's get to the final album uh that we want to talk about and I'm gonna get out the way for you

Drew right here but I'm gonna set it up but I'm gonna get out the way for you so I gotta set it up for you Jay Z the blueprint dropped on this day ladies and gentlemen the album sold 427,000 copies it was his fourth consecutive number one album I believe the album is sold over three million so far um I mean it's just it's hard to name songs off of here like you just run down the list like is oh take over uh you don't know never change uh mama loves me uh girls girls girls girls girls girls the remix like like the front to back this album is just incredible I still play I play it yearly um it's incredible like it's a think all of that came together in a matter of weeks that this came together mind blowing just the greatness levels that were happening from the production of Kanye West and just blaze to just Jay Z being in a complete zone uh with his writing

or non writing uh that he does man but Drew sir the the floor is yours on this yeah I caught on the Jay Z late so I think volume 2 was when I started really listening to Jay and then by the time this album came out I was all about Jay Z man you he was probably my my goat at that time um I was freshman in college I wasn't really you know a social butterfly like that so I spent a lot of time with my my sister my brother-in-law and I just remember I'm on that lawn and listening to the blueprint and 8701 by Usher like just going between most two albums um but the blueprint was it was tough man just the way that he he rise over beats man it's just like I don't know how to put into words man is anybody who listens to Jay Z he was a fan of Jay Z I think knows what I'm saying he just is smooth with it man and his album was just cold it was yeah it was everything you wanted

it to be it's funny though I didn't realize until I got to college at SIU that not everybody was a fan of Jay Z so I'm listening to this album and some people were like man I was messed up what was in my rejoin man like everybody you know like Jay Z what's wrong with you bro like I had that happy without God to college and I found that out about Michael Jordan like people don't like like like Jordan in the bulls like what so no I understand that feeling I understand it 100% uh what you're saying man but yeah man like like you said about the flow is the greatest example on that for the flow is like a song like you don't know and you know how hard that's probably my favorite song on that like how hard that beat is and everybody would probably try to attack it and jump on top of it you don't impressly to the ground and feel and Jay was just like you know I'm saying let's say I used to turn my music high oh my gosh man that song bro

this song will be so much cold man you can build a song oh gosh like we'll count when we're all prone to violence but it's home sweet home person Natalie's meat and chrome meat's chrome oh prices up and down like the walls you homes oh but this is not the downjones you're racing to help load all over that brown bro once you're welcome welcome to sale you better return all cars we learn them like that man oh man so cold so cold so cold uh yeah I can say a lot Joey C told us that he remembers this album uh from cars like wherever cool place he was at in cars party wise that album was playing you know what I'm saying you playing the blueprint come on Joey C uh yeah you knew you were having a good night when you're in the basement of someone's house their parents were out of town

and Jay Z was playing as loud as possible it's just where you met beautiful women you know I don't know I just met that album dude that album and honestly you guys are right man like it's uh it's in a no skips it's blue for me yeah right yeah I can't it might be your song remember like that I don't want to hear at a particular time I say I don't know when it hit that right now like iszo like it's a great example I might say yeah I don't want to hear it iszo right now but that song is cold you know what I'm saying like this it's like honestly honestly graduation is close to no skips too because when you look at that thing yeah you're like homecoming homecoming's like track 12 you're like go ahead I got maybe a controversial opinion um oh this what we hear for come on I hate the renegade beat I like this song I hate the beat okay I think I think that's just a lot of it sounds very imminent in in what I like that's the type of beat that you didn't

hear make that beat did he did there you go yeah absolutely there you go and I really like imminent too but some of the beats that he picks is this I just yeah it doesn't hurt my ears but this is like man I wish some some different something different would have been under this beat but that song in in in of itself is cold until this day used to have so cool are going about who got who um on that song um oh like whole vizzo is cold with the third pick he made the earth see it's a fade away perfect that's yeah that song was what I think of often because the weight-tambulum produced that yeah was incredible now you can hear everything going on man like the weight of drums hit it's perfect on on that man like everything gets perfect on that song bro and yeah they just showed their chemistry also uh uh from what what Timberland and uh he had the Eminem man you're right oh I'm Eminem is definitely one of those artists and I'm sure

what's it have a discussion about him and him enough time Eminem is definitely one of those artists who you respect lyrically but musically you're like yeah yeah I don't know bro like I have to like his third out this is just me talking like I have this third or fourth probably after encore I was like okay you know the we know you a lyrical destroyer okay like a monster man some of those beats it's like yeah I don't know bro but I didn't like I'd like to renegade though to the point I did like and I still listen to it I rarely skip that song um but Eminem destroyed on that and I think when I got older I've realized what Jay-Z was really doing and what he was saying you know I'm saying on that because Eminem just came in with you didn't you know I'm saying I'm talking to him I can't keep with him a minute like it was so cold how you came in but if you listen to what Jay-Z is doing it was um more abstract you know what I'm saying kind of style he chose and that's rare for a guy like Jay like he's usually flowing you know with the beat and

on it on this one he was like it was now more abstract more spoken you know what I'm saying kind of style than anything man but but it was still dope it was still dope man but yeah love that album and of course take over uh set everything off uh of course the summer jam screen uh that went up uh recipes prodigy man shout out to him for sure one of the best ever um but exercise um miracle exercise oh my gosh yeah now that beat I didn't like that's one yeah that beat I didn't like I didn't like that beat okay I didn't like that okay I didn't like that I don't like that beat I don't I love it lyrically I adore it lyrically but beatwise I never like but I never counted it as like the album they always felt like a bonus cut like the last two felt like bonus cuts to me it felt like the albums over after mama mama uh mama mama love me bro oh my god what a song it felt like the other two because it was such a gap if you remember

oh yeah I was like a six minute space you know what I'm saying between that and then no songs kind of came on you know I'm saying after that so that's that's how I looked at those man it took it but yeah man blueprint set off so much uh in hip hop like the return of Nas pretty much was on that because member Nas it just did an ostromatumus um he just was you know dealing with his mom you know the loss of his mother and things like that music wasn't the same on that and this kind of brought him back and then still mad at drops after that you know I'm saying and I mean man it's it's gonna be talked about forever though that album it's not and it should be because it's it's damn near perfect damn near perfect album bro it's like seriously so yeah shout out to Jay Z oh final question for you because I keep hearing this talking and you're Jay Z guy so I want to ask you this people I keep reading people say Jay Z was never that guy he was never number one during this time do you feel that way sir like no okay no no no no who are these people

people who weren't there I get people who were there obviously people who didn't live it do you know no almost man you almost made the preacher cuss brother like no man what's I was like the man had 11 consecutive number one albums okay like if that ain't telling you I'm that dude come on like no because people would say well during this time the oh mechs was at his peak and during this time M&M was reaching that peak and during this time like chronic 2001's coming out and and uh nelly you know selling 10 million records and stuff like that people using that as saying well no he was 50 coming out like 2003 like no he was never that dude at a time like y'all crazy like walking the evening club like during that time are you kidding me like walking to anyone if it's Jay Z hanging on you leave it like you just heard Joey see he just told you you just said it to you no Jay Z absolutely had that whoo okay all right that was fun

that was fun um we're gonna do this again next month ladies and gentlemen um bull season starts next month exciting times our head for the Chicago Bulls cannot wait to get into that that's gonna be very very fun that means uh training camp is coming that means media day is coming all those things are under horizon for the Chicago Bulls uh enjoy the Chicago bears this weekend ladies and gentlemen enjoy that game against Carolina to start a new day here in Chicago um final question drew yes uh the concerts that happen i forgot some insinies the concerts that took place the Kanye West concert two night event happened 70 000 people both nights Jay Z concert happening in London did you see any of those and and what were you thinking i saw some clips uh particularly of uh Kanye West concert the two day concert he had here in Chicago seen i saw some of the clips of uh Jay Z i was more interested in in uh homecoming

in in Kanye's uh concert back here in in the city man unfortunately i was not able to go so i was trying to live through people i know it's just in my everybody i know that concert one of those two days man i was very very jealous very very jealous man um yeah man you really put on for the city from everything i could see through the clips and from what i what i've heard i had one person tell me who goes to a lot of concerts he told me that that concert was top five that he's ever been to and it wasn't four or five and he was really just saying it wasn't top one because he didn't he didn't want to like disrespect other concerts that he's been to but yeah yeah man it it seemed like it was a time the second night especially i think he did something like 60 songs and had some like 20 guests that he brought out so yeah very disappointed that i was not able to to see that now i've never seen Kanye in concert one of my biggest one of my biggest regrets being such a big Kanye fan yeah um as i was back in the day those first three albums and then 808 in heart breaks i think it's

very slept on album uh as they're side but yeah man oh yeah i think i told you this like how i felt like that did more PR for the bears staying at sojour feel than anything you know what i'm saying like that i had seen like just the visual of it and how it looked with the skyline like it was incredible it was incredible man all right um in the jacy concert was cold too i didn't see that too like jay is cold that was amazing that was way i see you how he shot out easy he shot out to a man easy does it straight out of compton um i can't get more into it johi sees got things to do man we can go do back that so we're getting out of here we got a show for you guys tomorrow male bag show myself we'll go got lead we're gonna uh be going over some male bag questions that we'll got that he wrote in his article that he couldn't get to so we're gonna dive more into it tomorrow but as i said enjoy your weekends hug your loved ones enjoy the bears man and thank y'all for watching
